Episode Summary
In Episode 5 of The Balance Point, Tessa explores how community shapes our growth, motivation, and sense of self as horsewomen and horsemen. She unpacks the misunderstood science behind "survival of the fittest," shares her personal experience with the comparison trap both on social media and at the show pen, and casts a vision for the kind of community that simultaneously challenges and holds us, mirroring the very principles we seek to build with our horses.
Key Themes
The comparison trap and how it begins with curiosity before turning into shame. How the scoreboard can steal our joy from a genuinely meaningful ride. The difference between consuming and connecting. Community that asks much, is content with little, and rewards often. Releasing communities that no longer serve your growth, and trusting that your people will find you.
