Elijah The Prophet

Elijah: Passion, Prayer & Power

Who was Elijah, the prophet who burst onto the biblical scene with no family tree and left in a chariot of fire? In this episode, we walk through the life of Elijah in three parts: a man of passion, a man of prayer, and a man of power.

We look at his zeal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 19:10) and the lesson that passion is good, but God often speaks in a still, small voice. We see how, while Ahab controlled the spiritual climate, Elijah's prayers controlled the weather (James 5:17). And we explore Elijah's place in Jewish tradition, Jesus' words about him and John the Baptist (Matthew 17:13), and the promise of his return as one of the two witnesses (Malachi 4:5, Revelation 11).

Reflect on:

1. Pray for rain, and for God's presence to be revealed in the midst of darkness.
2. Take time in His presence to hear His still, small voice.
3. Be an intercessor for nations, communities, and souls.
