Lanterns Episode 7: Good Episode, Weak Penultimate

Lanterns Episode 7 gives Steven plenty to like, but not necessarily what he wanted from a penultimate episode. He breaks down why John and Hal-o-gram remain the strongest part of the series, how Hal Jordan's family history adds new context to the character, and why the episode makes him question whether Hal is really gone for good.

Steven also looks at the lack of momentum around the central Hal Jordan murder mystery, Hologram's suspicion of Sheriff Kerry, Noah's increasingly mysterious behavior, John's unresolved situation with Maggie, and the return of Sinestro. With only the finale remaining, Steven asks whether Episode 7 actually puts the season in position for a satisfying payoff.
