The Washington Commanders take on the surprising 3-1 New York Giants in Week 5, and Sean Anderson is joined by A to Z Sports Giants host Joe DeLeone to break down one of the most intriguing matchups in the NFC East. The Giants have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL through four weeks, sitting atop the NFC East after wins over the Cowboys, Cardinals and Titans. But Joe DeLeone believes there are still major questions surrounding New York — especially at quarterback. Jameis Winston will start for the Giants, and Joe is legitimately concerned about what could happen when Winston faces a Washington defense that has already shown an ability to create turnovers. Winston threw two costly interceptions against Arizona, and Joe believes those mistakes could become an even bigger problem against the Commanders. Washington has a defense capable of making quarterbacks pay for aggressive or reckless throws, and Joe even believes a three-interception performance is possible. Sean also gives Joe a warning about Washington's biggest defensive weakness: Tight ends. The Commanders have already allowed five touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season, and New York has two dangerous options in Isaiah Likely and Theo Johnson. Isaiah Likely in particular has quietly emerged as one of the Giants' most reliable offensive weapons. Joe believes Likely could be a major factor against Washington, especially because of his reliable hands, ability to find space and effectiveness after the catch. The two also discuss the biggest difference between the current Giants and previous New York regimes. Joe believes the Giants are finally getting the most out of their roster. The coaching staff has made meaningful adjustments, including dramatically increasing its blitz rate after Brian Burns' injury. Abdul Carter was the biggest beneficiary of that change, leading the Giants in pressures and potentially setting himself up for an even bigger role going forward. Joe also identifies Javon Holland and Malachi Fields as two Giants players Commanders fans may not know enough about. Then there's Jayden Daniels. The Commanders' quarterback situation could completely change the matchup. If Daniels returns, Washington has a quarterback who can punish a defense that sends pressure and creates opportunities with his legs. If Daniels remains out, the game becomes much more difficult to predict. Sean and Joe also debate the NFC East race, with Joe identifying Dallas as the biggest threat to the Giants despite Philadelphia's recent success. Can Jameis Winston avoid turnovers against Washington? Can the Commanders finally slow down opposing tight ends? Will Jayden Daniels return? And can Washington take advantage of a Giants team that is currently sitting at 3-1? Sean Anderson and Joe DeLeone break down the Commanders-Giants matchup ahead of Week 5.
