In this episode of The Word Effect, I’m talking about three simple words that have made a meaningful difference in my life: First Things First.
When life gets busy and everything feels important, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and focus on everything that needs to get done. I’ve experienced this myself. But instead of asking, “How am I going to get everything done?" I've learned to pause and ask, “What matters most right now?”
I share the “big rocks” lesson that has stayed with me for years, along with how I use this simple phrase in my own life to prioritize my health, family, faith, business, education, and commitments.
We’ll also talk about the difference between what is urgent and what is important, why our most important priorities need to be protected on our calendars, and why sometimes putting first things first means learning to say no.
Most importantly, this is a practice of self-leadership. When we become intentional about where we put our time, energy, and attention, we create greater alignment between our choices and the person we want to become.
So, what are your big rocks? What matters most to you right now?
Let’s practice putting first things first.
