Steve Pope and Patty Calbay are new to the concept of multipotentiality, but like so many of our guests, once they learn about it, it really hits home.
So we thought we'd have some fun in this episode, in the first part of our conversation, and go over multipotentiality to see how they react to the idea. It's like the pulling back of a curtain in real time.
Both Steve and Patty have craved variety, new projects and change, and have gone through the usual ringer of confronting things that they "should" be doing. But they share how being open to various interests has shaped their lives, and even led to them finding each other in the first place.
(This is a very anti-should episode.)
So we then pivot to how multipotentiality nurtures their relationship. Patty & Steve have a wonderful love story that they very much use to inspire other couples to rediscover and maintain the joy in their own relationships.
Their approach is through creative date ideas and intentional communication, "Turning the mundane into the fundane." Do you want to recapture the excitement of those early days of dating? Create excitement out of every day tasks like grocery shopping and cooking? These are the relationship coaches for you.
Patty & Steve have a 6 week couples coaching program, the "Reignite Us" program, that "helps couples rediscover the joy, spontaneity, & playfulness that make every day feel like the honeymoon phase." The coaching combines Steve's analytical, engineering background with Patty's training as a mental health therapist.
Geared primarily towards couples generally 5+ years into their relationship, it's a great way to throw off the shackles of routine and repetition through simple, fun activities.
