The riskiest object is the one everyone forgot exists.
In this episode of The Conference Insights Engine, David Dysart looks across Slate Summit 2026 sessions to examine the hidden operating system inside every Slate instance: rules, workflows, assignment lists, permissions, and legacy decisions.
These objects may not be as visible as portals, campaigns, events, or reports, but they shape staff work every day. They route records, trigger processes, assign follow-up, protect data, preserve old assumptions, and determine how the instance actually operates.
Featured Slate Summit sessions:
* “Behind the Music: The Hidden Rules Powering Your Instance” — Nina Lifshey, Darian Quinn, and Drew Griffin; Carnegie and Rockhurst University
* “Assignment Lists & Cadences” — Traci Giovinazzo, Colby Vere, and Benjamin Szabo; Technolutions
* “Workflows: From Legacy to Universal” — Ken Higgins; Technolutions
* “Written in Slate (Not Stone): Excavating Legacy Decisions and Building for Scale” — Raissa Diamante and Erin Gore; Harvey Mudd College and Huron
* “Don’t Forget to Lock the Doors: Enhancing Security and Data Protection” — Nathan Vick, Emma Ortiz, Amy Shaiman, and Matthew Haugen; Asbury University, Miami University of Ohio Advancement, and Baylor University Undergraduate Admissions
The episode introduces the Hidden Automation Audit: a practical way to document important Slate logic by object, type, trigger, population affected, owner, last review date, risk, documentation, and rebuild or retirement plan.
