On this episode of The Corvus Effect®, I sat down with Marc Rust, Founder and Managing Director of Consequently Creative, to explore how brand strategy, culture, and storytelling shape growth before and after an acquisition.
Marc makes the case that private equity firms can’t communicate through numbers alone. He introduces the idea of “brand dating,” explaining how customers, employees, and investors build relationships with companies through trust, emotion, and a story that develops over time. We also get into post-acquisition turbulence, cultural alignment, and how companies can preserve what made them valuable in the first place.
Along the way, we get into generational shifts in workplace values, building a business that can operate beyond the founder, hiring for initiative and shared beliefs, and the role of AI in creative work. Marc explains why technology should come after people, objectives, and strategy, and why relying too heavily on AI risks flattening originality.

The Corvus Effect® is what happens when a service business stops depending on its founder. If the business runs on you, you’re the bottleneck, you can’t take a real vacation, and it couldn’t be sold without you. This channel is about changing that.
