Kate & Kayode: Yes, good morning. Good morning. Hello. What's going on everybody? What's going on everybody? Oh boy. It is Saturday morning. You know what that means. Kate and Coyote are here on your airwaves. It is scriptily adapted on factory radio, y'all. We are back in the house. Thank you for joining us on this Saturday, man. Kate, how you been? Not like I wouldn't know. been well, I've been well. Yeah, it was not like I wouldn't know, right? That's true. Yesterday was a decent day at work. I said to my team, I was like when the day is so and I didn't want to say the key word. So I did the shush emoji face that you actually to stop for second and wonder if you're working on a holiday because ⁓ I just didn't the memo because it was that quiet. You're supposed to laugh at that. was ⁓ that was. I got a lot of laughs over. ⁓ that was okay. See, Kate, you're- You operate on this notion that I'm not funny, and actually I'm quite funny, and everybody thinks I am. Kate, I gotta- for you. I have to disagree. No, you're just being spiteful, and I don't like I gotta disagree. You're not funny, but- I'm hilarious. You're not funny. I am hilarious. It's not even what I'm saying, it's the way in which I'm saying it that's funny. But yeah, listen, Anyway, so yeah, the day was good. Kate, big news though. What? Big news. Okay. Tonight, we spring forward, y'all. It is about that time. Well, it's technically tomorrow morning at Spring is amongst us. Next week's temps look like they're gonna be in the high 60s for a couple of days. just Tuesday and Wednesday. And then drops back down to 40s. Yeah, and it's raining and it's just, I'm not holding my breath, mother nature. Do you hear me? I'm not holding my. Breath, cause you're out here causing havoc. ⁓ So there's a lot to talk about. The Oscars are looming. Whoa, whoa, whoa. This is our morning bruise morning news of the day y'all. Kate's jumping the shark, jumping the gun. need you gotta give me cues. I need, where's your rundown? I have my rundown. I need you to pick a title and stick with it. Morning Bruise of the Day. that's not what this says. It says morning bruise morning news, I is catchier. like that better. Oh, let's do that, let's change that. I'm gonna change the graphic, Kate, as you go into some of the news of the day. Why'd you do that? I can't stay at you sometimes. Morning, what did you say? Anyway, I didn't say it, you wrote it. It's morning brews, morning news. Morning brews, morning news. So anyway, so Oscars are looming next week. Michael B. versus Timothée Chalamet. If Michael B. Jordan does not win it this year, I am going to be very surprised. And I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed. Your tone has changed because a few weeks back, you were calling Timothée Chalamet a clear winner. Now Kate, Can you fairly judge Michael B. Jordan? Can you fairly say that Michael B. Jordan will be a winner? Can you clearly say that you are, can you say that Michael B. Jordan should win if you've never seen the performance? I didn't say that. What did you just say? I'm basing it on the popularity and- He only won the SAG out of all the actor awards though. Remember that. don't know. I don't know. maybe it's a close race. don't think it's fair for me to say that, you know, I'm just basing it on what I saw. So Timothy Chalamet, whose performance was excellent, ⁓ I like to see him win it. But in a weird sense, I would also like to see Michael B. Jordan win his first Oscar because he's a good actor. He's good actor. And he's come a long way. And I think every actor has that moment where they hit it Timothy Chalamet's performance, I've seen both performances. these are two of my favorite young actors. And Timothy Chalamet's performance was outstanding. It was very good. But Timothee Chalamet is on a Leo status where his performances are all very versatile. Not yet. It's getting there. He's on the trajectory to get there. where all his performances are very versatile, all his performances are very different, and he can deliver on all of that, and I just like his vibe. He's very confident in his art. It can maybe come off arrogant, but not in a way where you dislike him. I don't get that from him at all. But here's the thing, Kate, Answer this. Is Michael B. Jordan a better actor than he is, better looking, meaning is that why people sort of gravitate I don't think that's I'm just saying that they're giving him awards because he's not because he's better looking but do you think that gets him more attention? No, I think Timothy Chalamet has his acting chops. I think also too to compare them as like apples and oranges I think they're very different their craft is different. They've been in different kinds of movies. I would agree with you I think right now look This is gonna be a hot take maybe. Oh, I think love hot takes from that That might be a new segment. I think that For some people, acting is innate. I think that Timothée Chalamet has a natural talent. Michael B. Jordan doesn't necessarily give me that vibe, but I would say that if he continues to get great roles and perfects his craft, he be that status and earn himself an Oscar. ⁓ But Chalamet, there is something about him that is... Effortless and that's why he's on Leo status. Timothee Chalamet has a unique talent just getting it. He effortlessly meld into a role. And 30, 40 years from now, ⁓ I don't doubt that he will be a multiple Oscar winner. If I look at Michael B. Jordan, I think it will be because of who he works with, the role he's doing, but I don't know if it's going to be because of his acting. I think that he could get himself into a role that would score him an Oscar, but I think it would be the surrounding factors at play, like your director, your ensemble cast. So think there's other elements that will make Absolutely. is gonna be a tight race. Timothee Chalamet versus Michael B. Jordan. ⁓ ⁓ can we go over the best actresses for a second? Inside man. Who's winning for that? Who's the pot take for that one? For the best actress? feel like that's kind of, they haven't been getting as much play. Who's front runner for this? The front runner for this is Buckley. She is in Hamnet. yes. She won the SAG Award. It looks like it's gonna be her. Do you know what it's about? Hamnet? the one movie I'm trying to, I ease into it because I heard it's beautiful, but I it's a watch. ⁓ You gotta down and pay attention. Yeah. All right well. Check out this clip on our Oscar playlist on YouTube along with all of our other segments on YouTube, Couples Topic, our full show segments, as well as our ⁓ our YouTube channel. Our scriptlyadaptive.com. Yeah, that is your morning news, morning brews, morning news brew news? quick, speaking of morning news, Savannah Guthrie returned, well, off camera she returned to speak to her colleagues at Today Show. saying that she will return to work. It's week five, starting with her mom's disappearance. just, I don't know, man. I don't know if she. don't know if they've unfortunately killed her and gotten rid of the body. don't know if she went out on a hike and had a heart attack and died. I don't know what happened here. I don't know what's going on, but I don't understand why it's taking this long to find her. But then I have to remind myself, you had Elizabeth Smart. who was in the backyard essentially of her parents' house for nine months and they couldn't find her. who you know? ⁓ Sometimes are right under people's noses and they're looking in all the wrong places. I'm not saying that's what law enforcement's doing, I'm just saying that sometimes it's lot simpler or a lot easier than we think it is. We're just keeping her and her family in our prayers But yeah, so that's our Morning Brews morning news. That's all we got. Well keep it Keep it here, more scriptedly adapted coming at you. We got our couples of week at you Scriptedly adapted, WFUT, Factory Underground Radio. Sheik, forbidden lover. I don't think I've heard that song before. ⁓ Sheik is dope, man. Sheik, freak out! that's them? Yeah. then yes, I have heard them before. Nya Rogers, genius behind all that. back to the show, y'all. This is Scriptly Adapted, WFUT, Factory Underground Radio. You know what we did not acknowledge? What's that, It is Women's History Month, y'all. Women's History Month. Welcome ⁓ back to the show and today's couples topic of the week is a good one. Can two alphas and be married? What do think? This is toughie because... I think, man, it depends, Because, Kate, you and I are, believe, because I think we are alpha, J's. I think we have traits, but we're not 100%. I think we're like, I believe like 60 to 70, 60 to 80-ish. That's correct, yes. I think it depends on the situation, yes. I'm not alpha when it comes to planning trips. I'm not interested, that's all you. And you're very good at it. But you see, I don't even think it's a matter of being alpha when it comes to certain things. I think it's also just delegating with someone's strength or weakness. I'm very logistical, right? So when we came in here this morning, actually this is a perfect example. It was 9.35, we had 25 minutes, we have things that we have to do to set up for the show. We have to make sure the camera angle is not giving you guys an inside look to our pre-production. Make sure the camera angle is right, make sure the lighting is right, make sure that you have all your boards and stuff on and ready to go, and the mics and the headphones. But yet you were so settled. I said, all right, but right now we don't need to focus on that. We need to focus on the things that we know we need ⁓ for the show. ⁓ And that's because logistics are forte. I'm good at that kind of stuff. ⁓ So I took control and I focused you That's being alpha, that's being charge, that's taking the reins, but there's nothing wrong with that because that's my strength. Does that make sense? I hear what you're saying. Okay. And that makes But I wasn't wrong, was I? You weren't wrong. But I'm saying, okay, so okay, let's, so I think there is a, think two people could bump heads. Well yeah, of course, because you have similar personalities. Because there are two people who are unwilling to kind of bend. think a lot of the time men are intimidated by women with alpha energy because it's against the natural order of things men's minds. ⁓ It's not how technically things should done, but I don't think that's fair. She's in her own right, she's a successful woman. She has a great job, she's becoming, A-list, but she's getting her wet being in Hollywood, ⁓ doing things. And I don't think it's fair that if a regular guy came along, that's to say that they wouldn't succeed in a relationship. and that's true, but I think at points both need to be betas with each other. I think you need to be alphas all the time with each other. I think if you're in a relationship with that person, y'all should be betas with each other. Y'all should be able to be soft ⁓ in home and do that boss stuff out there. I don't want that to trickle into relationship or the marriage because then it's like, okay, then you're just treating me like everybody else out there. when I'm at work, I have to be on, I have to make decisions, I have to babysit, I have to handhold. ⁓ And so with things, there's things that I don't want to think about with you, right? Like planning trips or things of deep detail. I'm not the best ⁓ at details. You're not the best. ⁓ Yeah, I get that, then I think that's damaging. You have to tone it down with some There is a level of control that both want to exhibit and hold onto even in a relationship. I've those moments early on in our early relationships, trying to be in control of certain aspects. And obviously as you grow in your relationship, you learn what... each person's strength is like you mentioned before, and then that's where you can take over. So if you learn. Dominate. Now if you learn how to operate your alpha different aspects where it's not overlapping or causing any issues with the person, then I think of course two alphas can be together because I think that's a powerful thing. but would you say that two alphas could lead into a power couple dynamic? Like having a power couple relationship. They can as long as they understand who each other are in certain roles that they have taken to be in that marriage or relationship. And there is no, and there is an understanding and there is no overlapping into like the marriage. Like if what you do is a boss thing all day, all night, I need you to not 100 % be that at home. And I think vice versa. You can't, you just can't. Not all day, all the time. The other side of it though, if you have a job or a position that does not require you to do that and then you've gotten into that habit, you have to channel some, little bit of alpha energy sometimes on the flip side, right? So there has to be a balance. Because I think the reason why, especially for women, being a woman, think sometimes the reason why women feel like they have to be on all the time or do anything is because we're just. We're just like, everything always defaults to us anyway. So it's like, for once we would just like to have someone be able to just make a decision. We don't wanna think. So I think there has to be balance there for sure. Definitely has to be balance. Definitely has to be an understanding, y'all. But think about it. Ask yourselves that question. Can it work? Will it work? Should it work? And it does, it can. and it has the potential to be great if both of you are on the same page. adapted, in the radio, that was your couples topic of the week. Get into it, did we watch? So last night we went to go see Hoppers, which came out yesterday. It's a really cute Pixar ⁓ Disney animated movie. And it was just a good, ⁓ had a great premise behind it. we like to cerebral, but occasionally we like to just see cute. cartoons. ⁓ So it's a science fiction comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. basically its plot follows Mabel Tanaka, an animal lover whose mind is transferred into a lifelike robotic beaver to communicate with animals and save their habitat from destruction, inadvertently starting an uprising in doing so. The movie starts out with her like in kindergarten or something, wanting to save all the classroom pets. she just grows up and she gets so angry because she's always constantly getting into trouble in school. So she goes and spends time with her grandmother growing up and her grandmother kind of her shift her anger into a different perspective by just being in one with nature and allowing her appreciate simple beauty and simple stuff like that. so. The years go by, her grandmother passes away, but she her that she would take care of the glade And obviously, as we know, that doesn't happen, and big business wants to come in and destroy it. And it's her mission, and she finds out that this professor at her college is doing this kind of like secret work, ⁓ if you will, developing this system where they almost like avatar. in these robots and they get transported into the world of the kingdom, if you will. And so she realizes this is a great way for her to communicate with these animals because in order to stop the development from happening, ⁓ she needs habitate this glade again with animals. That's the reason why they want to break everything down because no animals live there anymore. ⁓ So she her mission is to get the wildlife back into that area ⁓ so they no choice but to not destroy it. You know, it talks about friendship, simplicity, gratitude. Nature's order. Yeah, nature's order, partnership. And just such a feel-good film. It was funny. It ⁓ was entertaining. I really enjoyed it. It was very, very, very good. Yeah, right now in Rotten Tomatoes, it's got a 94 % on both ends, on the critics and on the audience side. People love it. It was, like Kate said, very fun, very enlightening terms of, know, what, it also taught you what happens, even if a kids movie, it gave you little insight on what happens when big businesses or big companies build on top of nature or nature or forests it was just very, very, very good. The voice talents of Jon Hamm, Meryl Streep. Kathy Najimy. Kathy Najimy. Bobby Moynihan you have. Yes. Dave Franco. Franco, yeah. Ego Wodem. Vanessa Byers, you have some SNL talents in there. Vanessa Byers played the shark. Just a very, very good film. It's in theaters now, Hoppers. Hoppers, y'all. Yeah. What else you got, Yeah, so actually, while we were watching, waiting for Hoppers to begin, as we said earlier, well of course we were there early for previews, Toy Story Five, y'all. Yeah. I'm just gonna leave that right there. Comes out in July. I tell you, hands down, Toy Story is my favorite cartoon franchise of all time. of them were brilliant. Number three, personally, was my favorite. But no, I'm so excited. It introduces the introduction of technology into kids' worlds, which I think is brilliant. I'm just so excited, I'm so excited. I cannot wait for this. Comes in July. While we discuss film ⁓ and all these things, I think it's also important to theater its flowers and credit where it's due. We have some amazing plays that are coming out, Proof, with Ayo Idibiri and Don Cheadle. Idibiri is from The Bear, Don Cheadle obviously is a extremely nominated and well known actor in his own right. You have The Fear of 13 with Tessa Thompson and Adrienne Brody. And you have Dog Day Afternoon with Eben Moss-Bakarak and Jon Bernthal. Who are also from The Bear. So you guys should check them out. They're coming out soon. I'm sure previews are underway. this today, random topic of the week, Random topic of the week, Most underrated. Steven Spielberg film. Kate, you want me to go first? want to go? Ladies first. I'm getting the horn ready There's 50 pages That's not it. Shoot. That wasn't it? That was useless cocktail party trivia RIP. I think the horn is on there. I made a mistake. Sorry y'all. We have a little technical difficulties here. You have a horn? I think it's the blue one. Perfect. Thank you. Okay. So being Women's History Month, I'm gonna focus on rom-coms that, I mean I think all rom-coms are kind of centered around a woman anyway, but this film, was, is a childhood favorite. mom loves this film, turned me onto it. I've loved it ever since. Two iconic actresses in their own rights have won multiple awards. It is big business. Nice. Came out in 1988. It's a comedy film starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, each playing two roles as sets of identical twins mismatched at birth. nature versus nurture farce adapts the comedy of errors, but with female siblings in contemporary society, one each twin being reared in a wealthy urban setting while the others grew up in a poor rural environment. Produced Touchstone Pictures, the film co-stars Fred Ward, Herman, Joe Grafassi, Seth Green as a child, as well as siblings Michael Gross and Mary Gross. both, Midler and Tomlin were nominated for American Comedy Award for the funniest actors in a motion picture for their performances with Midler ⁓ So basically, quick plot synopsis. In 1948, wealthy businessman Hunt Shelton and his pregnant wife are lost in rural West Virginia when Mrs. Shelton goes into labor near the town of Jupiter Hollow. the local hospital, they are turned away because it is exclusively for employees of Hollowmade, the local furniture maker. Mr. purchases the company on the spot and Mrs. Shelton is then admitted. ⁓ The an impoverished couple, arrive moments later with Mrs. Ratliff, also in labor. ⁓ Both women give birth to twin girls and the elderly nurse attending the doctor confuses and mixes up the sets of twins. Ratliff overhears the Shelton's deciding to name their daughters Rose and Sadie and suggests same names to his wife. 40 years the Shelton sisters are now co-chair women of Moramax in New York City, a conglomerate that a successor to their father's business interests. Sadie Shelton is ruthless and focused on her career to the detriment of her family while Rose Shelton is less business savvy ⁓ and out of touch with the needs of the company, wishing instead for a simpler life in the country. And then you have Sadie and Rose from Jupiter Hollow. Rose Ratliff has risen to the position of forewoman at the Hollow Maid factory and is also very clear driven. Meanwhile, Sadie Ratliff has always felt misplaced in rural life and wishes for a more sophisticated life in a big city. Rose discovers more of Max's plans to sell Hollow Maid and sensing trouble, makes plans to travel to New York City to stop the sale. wanting to see the city, Sadie agrees to join her sister. And then it's just kind comedy of errors with them kind of almost narrowly missing each other in the same hotel. And eventually they do meet and it's just, and they fall in love with different guys. It's just, it's such a good film. It's funny. It's a feel good film for sure. Yeah, Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin are hilarious. It's just, it's so good. it was just really cutesy. It's a great film about fighting for what's right, fighting for what you believe, also being in touch with a different side of yourself, exploring things that you never thought that you would like. And I just really love it. It's just great. So you guys should check it out. I don't know where you can find it now. You enjoyed it, you watched it. Yeah, I thought the funniest person was, it was Edward Herman and Daniel Garrel's character, the couple. were hilarious. Because they didn't know what to make of what was You should check it out. We had to shift a little things around accommodate the ladies, the for this month. And it just made sense, y'all. ⁓ Made sense. who are we celebrating month for the legends and And we've never done this person. we got? Well, I would like to introduce our legends and icon of the month, Meryl Streep. Streep, man. Legend legends. Today we are going to dive into one of her most notable roles. mean, honestly, all her roles are notable, but it was just pop culture. at her finest, they're doing a remake that's coming out in a few months. It is 2006's The Devil Wears Prada. have to, when I announce it like that, you have to give a hand clap. Oh, I'm sorry, you gotta give a hand clap? Heesh. Devil Wears Prada. 2006, which is crazy, that movie 20 years ago. Jeez, 2006. Crazy. And they're just now coming out with the. Yeah, mean, nothing good like 10, 20 years, right? So yeah, 2006 American comedy drama film ⁓ So Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt basically follows Andy Sachs played Anne Hathaway as she's a writer, journalist. She wants to get into the world of fashion. She gets this job with Meryl Streep as the head of this fashion company. Emily is her rival and just watching her awkwardly try to rise to the top be the best. ⁓ Meryl Streep is horrendous as boss. You know, she's just nastiest person. It's just so, Meryl Streep is Miranda Yeah, it's just, basically aspiring journalist Andrea Sachs has recently graduated from Northwestern. Despite her lack of knowledge of the fashion industry, she is hired as a junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the notoriously cruel editor in chief of Magazine. A lot of people say... that she was fashioned after Vogue's editor in chief, which is Anna Wintour. I could see that. Yeah. She does not seem like a pleasant person to work for. all. Actually, there have been reports that she is not very nice. Andy fits in poorly with her superficial fashion-forward coworkers, particularly Miranda's senior assistant, Emily Charlton, played by Emily Blunt, and struggles to meet Miranda's irrational demands. After Andy fails to arrange for Miranda to be flown back from Miami during a hurricane, Miranda berates her. Andy approaches Runway's art director Nigel, played by Stanley Tucci, for advice, he helps her select stylish clothes to wear to work. So basically, you know, just going through ⁓ her journey ⁓ this fashion learning lessons, learning how to be the best. The movie kind of ends with her kind of giving what she's due. you know, it did open-ended so that it of gave the inclination that there was going to be a follow-up. But yeah, it's really cool. It's such a good movie. You've seen it, right? I've seen it. And fantastic in it. mean, you believe she's this evil, like this fashionista boss, editor in chief, Miranda Priestly, who, like Kate said, so the rumor is I know if you've read this, Kate, but a lot of other fashion notables refused to be in the movie with fear of making the queen herself and a Wintour upset where you would be exiled to wearing Target jeans and not fashion jeans. So yeah, it was like that. It went down like that. Yeah, it was, you know, it was. Terrifying. Streep said in 2016 she was interested in the responsibility lying on the shoulders of a woman ⁓ who was the head of a global brand. ⁓ That scene wasn't about the fun of fashion, ⁓ it was about marketing and business. And that just speaks Meryl Streep's, I think, ⁓ prowess in the industry, how she's how people respect her as an actor. Being to give notes and ⁓ as get more clout, think you're welcome do that. But yeah, it's a fun movie, feel-good movie, they're all just brilliant in it. And the sequel, Devil Prada 2, will be out I believe in May. That is the first edition of Your Legends and Icons.
