We Left Traditional School. Here’s What Happened | A Student’s Story

What happens when a family decides that traditional school is no longer the right fit?

In this episode, Martina speaks with Lucy, an SBL alumna now studying Psychology at university in Austria, and her mother Sandra, who look back at the decision to leave traditional schooling and choose a different educational path.

Lucy shares what she discovered through self-directed learning, how SBL helped her understand how she learns best, and which skills and mindset she still carries with her at university.

Sandra reflects on the same journey from a parent’s perspective: watching her daughter grow in confidence, independence and joy in learning.

But what happens when a student eventually returns to a more traditional academic environment?

And what if the most valuable thing education can give a young person is not simply knowledge, but the ability to understand themselves, navigate challenges and find their own way?
