Three men stood accused of first-degree murder in the execution-style shooting of a man in Oakville, Ontario. Then an Ontario judge threw the whole case out, and the reason had nothing to do with the evidence against the accused men, but it did have everything to do with the correctional staff abuses caused to them and nearly 200 inmates at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in December of 2023. This is a story of how vengeance inside a jail destroyed a murder prosecution, and what it cost the victims' families and the $30 million dollar class action suit that followed.
