John Jurica completed his medical degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois at Rockford. While in practice he completed a Master's Degree in Public Health at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
He began doing side jobs while in practice as a hospital utilization management physician advisor and a medical director for a family planning clinic and an occupational medicine clinic. He worked as the VP for Medical Affairs and then full-time as the Chief Medical Officer for a 300-bed independent nonprofit hospital outside of Chicago Illinois, leaving clinical medicine completely for 4 years. He now works part-time as a co-owner and Medical Director for an urgent care network.
In 2017, he began producing a weekly podcast called Physician Nonclinical Careers with John Jurica, where he presents interviews and solo episodes addressing physician burnout and moral injury, unconventional jobs and careers for physicians, and related topics. He also runs mastermind groups, annual live online summits, and an online platform the Nonclinical Career Academy and MemberClub.
In today's show, John describes in detail what the Academy is, how it has evolved over the years, and what it can do for clinicians who want to leverage their training and experience in nontraditional ways. He explains how the MemberClub component of the NCA provides the most value for those who wish to learn as much as possible about career transition in a convenient, safe, and affordable environment.
