On August 14 2026 the Wall Street Journal published a profile of Cami Clark the wife of Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei describing her as his sounding board and strategic adviser. Within hours the story had been overtaken by a single detail buried inside it: in 2011 and 2012 Clark tried to raise money for her adult film company from Jeffrey Epstein. Julian Dorey goes through the full Cami Clark story — who she is how she was scrubbed from the internet before the WSJ found her what her role at Anthropic actually is how she introduced Eric Schmidt into the company how she asked Epstein to invest in her luxury porn company through John Brockman Epstein's science liaison and what the Anthropic Pentagon ban and the Ivanka Trump lunch reveal about the specific access she has been managing from the shadows.
Clark is an entrepreneur who married Amodei in 2022 after previously dating former Google chief Eric Schmidt with the Journal describing her as a sounding board and strategic adviser for Amodei and Anthropic. Her previous attempted businesses include founding a self-described free luxury porn company that catered to women and a social dieting app. Almost all details about her have been removed from the internet. Her professional websites were taken down. Her LinkedIn profile vanished. She stopped posting on Instagram. And then the Epstein files found her anyway. In March 2011 Clark reached out to Epstein after being introduced to him by John Brockman a literary agent who helped connect Epstein with scientists and tech figures. Their correspondence continued for at least two years. A week after her first email she sent Epstein an attachment — the script for her first four films — and invited him to a housewarming party before adding him on LinkedIn.
The Anthropic influence thread is the episode's most structurally significant and most broadly consequential contribution. Clark acts as a sounding board and strategic adviser for Amodei. She brought the company a key early investor — Democrat megadonor Eric Schmidt whom she had dated — as Anthropic was getting off the ground in early 2021. Anthropic is valued at nearly $1 trillion and approaching a potential IPO that could top trillions of dollars in value. The most influential person at one of the most consequential companies in the history of artificial intelligence has no title no badge almost no public footprint and her name scrubbed from the internet so thoroughly that Anthropic's own AI chatbot Claude initially responded to queries about whether Dario Amodei is married by naming his sister.
