In this episode, Priscilla sits down with Adam Bauer: a kirtan artist, I Ching facilitator, death doula, and personal coach for a conversation that moves through music, mantra, and mortality.
Adam spent years playing bass alongside Krishna Das and studying devotional music at the feet of Shyamdas, two of the most revered figures in the Western Bhakti Yoga tradition. Since 2012, he's led kirtan and sacred chant programs on three continents, and his soulful presence has shaped sacred music spaces around the world.
In this conversation, Adam shares how an accidental bass purchase led him into the heart of the kirtan tradition, what devotional chanting actually offers the nervous system, and the teachers who shaped his path. Things turn deeply personal as Adam reflects on helping his mother through her final years, his death doula training with the Center for Conscious Living and Dying, and what he's learned about what makes a death a "good death." He also opens up about the writing of "I Am Dying," the haunting lead single off his new album Life + Death, and the friend's bedside that inspired it.
This is a conversation about living fully in light of how fleeting it all is.
