The Dr. Z: So what we're gonna talk about tonight is, you know, yes, you can have a practice. We're gonna be focusing on the non-independent medical practice. So for people either without a medical license, what can they do in health and wellness, functional medicine, or you might be a medical practitioner who wants to see what your options are to practice without your license. Path A, which is what works for a lot of people is health and wellness coaching. So you work with clients, not patients, and that can still be a very powerful relationship. Cash-based, you set your rates, work across state lines in most cases. Like I said, referral and affiliate programs are legal. Lab supplements and protocols are available. I see misinformation about this all the time. an RN can't deal with labs. No, that's not true. You can get labs direct to consumer right now. getting your hands on labs is not complicated. what you have to understand is just because you can get your hands on labs does not mean all of sudden you diagnose medically and treat medically. And that's where you have to understand the difference. So direct-to-consumer labs, so patients being able to order their own labs is here to stay. and for example, like functional medicine academy's certification, people without a medical license can then have access to great labs, great supplements and things like that, but that doesn't change how they use them. So just to know it's like a wonderful thing to have access to. You can work with your clients in that way, have much more informed insurance protocol, not insurance, nutrition protocols, right? But it doesn't mean just because you've earned a certification that gives you these privileges that all of a sudden you can diagnose and treat. So there's no diagnosing or treating here. You're not a covered entity. So there's no HIPAA hiring you have to worry about or liability. I mean, you still want to protect people's data, but you're not a covered entity. and you can work with you can hire health coaches, you can have staff to grow with you, even if you are a health coach, right? All right, here's a path B. This is a little bit more complex, but this is a model not a lot of people know about. And there's times that it works very well for you. Don't do this path if this one will work. Right. This is easier, faster, more simple. But this one, there are situations where this is what you want. so let's say, let's say you're an RN and you want to have a true medical practice, but that's outside of the scope of your license, but that's your business dream. And if you just go to Joe Blo attorney, he might say, Well, you can't do that. You want to do that? Go become an NP or go become an MD or something like that. That's not true. You could still do that as a business owner, but this is how it'd be set up. you would partner, and by the way, I don't mean partner as in they have to own 50% of your business. Okay. But you would have someone who is a licensed medical professional that could do the things you want your patients to experience. Maybe it's IV therapy, maybe it's BHRT, maybe it's prescriptive authority. So whoever is legally allowed. To have that kind of medical entity does. Let's just say it's Dr. Joe. So Dr. Joe owns the medical entity, maybe it's a PLLC, and you are going to contract with him. You own the MSO. It's a managing service organization. You own it 100%. This is your business. And then, so this is Dr. Joe here, your RN Amy here, owning the MSO, and you have an MSA. Managing service agreement that dictates how this works. This is how a lot of hospitals run and emergency rooms and sometimes private practice. Now, why is it supposed to be set up that way? many different reasons, but one of the main ones is CPOM, corporate practice of medicine. and those are rules and regulations. Some states have them, some don't. but say that we don't want a corporate entity, like we don't want a private entity. let's say Taco Bell. Okay. Because you know, you guys know that like Bezos, right? Amazon owns Medical One right? You guys know that. If not, you can look it up. But there's organizations like that. That's someone who's non-medical, right? And they own full medical clinic, you know, doing all the things. so how do they do it? This is the model for how they do it. so so CPOM is like, hey, we don't want Jeff Bezos or Amazon saying that you know, Dr. Joe and Medical One can only prescribe XYZ. So we don't want someone who's not medical dictating medical treatment. So this is the part B is the structure that allows that, allows someone to come in, put the dollars behind it, own the business, set it up. But then you have like a medical director with the PLLC and they're supposed to be making the medical decisions, right? And then that MSA determines how the whole thing works, right? Now, if you've ever worked in a hospital or been in one of those settings, just think about insurance companies and other outside owners. Do they influence it? Probably, yes. I would say so, but they're not supposed to. That's the ideal behind it. So if you were gonna do it, just make sure you set it up correctly. It's definitely something you want to work with an attorney for. and don't assume this is the right answer for you because it might not be. Like that same RN. If we find out what nurse Amy really wants to do, it might be like, this is a simpler, easier path. And it really lets her do just about everything she wants to do. She's not gonna prescribe and she's not gonna do IVs, but then she's gonna have a relationship. With some people in our community, and she'll just refer some patients there when they need that. Nothing wrong with that at all. But yes, both options are available. Okay. What you can do, you can use functional labs. So again, direct to consumer I already mentioned, or through our certification as a practitioner, and you want to use the results educationally, not diagnostically. You can have supplement wholesale accounts. And there's specific ones I recommend to people in our program because you can earn up to 65%. It's an incredible income opportunity. Plus, the sourcing is great. The company pays for what are the trademarked or patent ingredients actually used in research, they're practitioner grade, but that means if Someone spends $100, your practice could earn up to 65 of those $100. Why do I like those margins so much? Because I also like to give patients discounts. So whether you work with patients or you work with clients, I think that really helps to create loyalty. And if you want to build a protocol for them where they're you know what they're using, you know what they're going to do and that they're going to get well, you want them to be using the supplements you recommend. And if you don't use any of those things and you just use full script or something else that starts you at 30%, and then maybe you can get to 35%, but then it's like, my cousin has an account, I can get 15% off. I mean, it's just it's a hassle. You're really making money for other people. so I don't recommend that. but this is an incredible income source and business opportunity. health protocols, lifestyle, meal planning, stress, sleep. Coaching, habit frameworks, a lot of the really hard work to help patients to get the results they need. Digital products, courses, group programs, memberships, online content, unlimited reach, referral programs, legally for you, illegal in traditional medicine or even alternative medicine or functional medicine with a medical license. Can't do that. But for you, someone could refer a friend and they and you pay them a commission or they get a discount off their supplements. So if you have a medical license and you're practicing under it, it's illegal to do that. You can't do that. You can't even give them something free. So you can't do that. and in most cases, cross state is not an issue. So, as a non medical person, you have access to all these things. This is a robust business doing all this, right? There's plenty to do. and if you are a medical person, you want to practice without your license, you just have to look at your license and what your goals are. Again, make sure you set it up compliantly. You still have a lot available to you. I would say where people get in trouble is when they try to put one foot on both sides and you don't want to do that.
