A candid and deeply personal conversation with actor, screenwriter, and author Jonathon Schaech. Joining Matt, Schaech reflects on his Hollywood journey, including the trauma he endured as a young actor after being sexually abused by a director while working overseas. He shares how decades of silence contributed to struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, and how speaking publicly about his experience in 2018 became a turning point in his healing and advocacy for survivors of abuse.
Now more than 12 years sober, Schaech opens up about rebuilding his life, finding purpose beyond his career, and embracing a new chapter both professionally and personally. The conversation also explores his work on Blue Ridge, his upcoming reunion with Tom Hanks on a new project, and the lasting connection the two formed after first working together on the 1996 film That Thing You Do!. This is an honest and inspiring discussion about resilience, recovery, and the power of sharing your story.
