Struggling to find career direction or affordable resources? Bryan Stewart, CMO of Goodwill Southern Nevada, reveals how Goodwill's stores, career centers, and training programs open real doors. Visit barryshore.com to get your free copy of my eBook, The Joy of Living: You Deserve It.
In this energizing episode of Eye on Las Vegas, Barry Shore sits down with Bryan Stewart, Chief Marketing Officer of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, to celebrate the organization's remarkable 50th anniversary in the Las Vegas region. Bryan pulls back the curtain on what Goodwill truly is — not just a thrift store, but a fully functioning social enterprise employing nearly a thousand people across 21 stores and powering real career transformation for Southern Nevada residents. Bryan explains how Goodwill's career centers function like personal guidance counselors, connecting job seekers to stagehand training, healthcare pathways, welding, truck driving, and more — often at no cost to participants. He shares the inspiring story of Goodwill's founding mission: saving the "waste in people and things," and how that spirit lives on today in partnerships with Clark County schools and vocational rehabilitation programs that help people with disabilities build independence and confidence. The conversation digs into the joy of the thrift store treasure hunt, the surprisingly dynamic pricing model that brings deals down to a dollar, and why donating to Goodwill is so much more than clearing out your closet — it's an act of community investment. Barry and Bryan also explore the deeply American spirit of giving, the concept of a "hand up" versus a handout, and what it means to build something bigger than yourself. Bryan Stewart is the Chief Marketing Officer of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, bringing over four and a half years of passionate leadership to the organization after a background in outdoor recreation and organ donation advocacy.
