Spiritual narcissism, cultural appropriation in spirituality, ‘THE WEST”, how the system becomes a crutch… this episode is packed with wisdom and important discussion.
Featuring Nicholas Helwett, who is a musician, activist, and is part of Indigenous Enterprise, the conversation taught me a lot. Offering perspectives on so many buzzwords that we so often hear or read, especially on social media, this episode also delves into the process that can sometimes occur behind activism - the process of breaking generational trauma, addressing abusive patterns, to then be able to powerfully challenge collective patterns of abuse.
“As within, so without”, they say, and this episode addresses that statement.
We also talk about:
- Narcissism in western spirituality
- What is the ego? Should we work with it for against it?
- The globalised identity of ‘The West’
- Cultural appropriation in spirituality
- Isolation due to colonisation
- Coming from an abusive household to challenging abusive patterns
- How setting boundaries can benefit everyone
