Artist Theresa Wells Stifel is the proprietor of the online company Stifel & Capra. For 20 years, while working as a headhunter and corporate trainer, she did crafting on the side. At some point, that activity morphed into making art, specifically mixed-media paintings. She went on to open a gallery in her hometown of Falls Church, Virginia, with the express purpose of using her business background to help her artist friends market their work. She used to tell them that she was practicing "selfish altruism," she says. "Let me help you sell your stuff and I'll sell my stuff too."
Even when she had a physical store, Theresa maintained an online presence, which is now quite robust. She sells artwork as well as antique and vintage items all over the world. She loves having a platform where customers can find beautiful items for their homes and her fellow artists can connect with people who appreciate art.
