Your identity as a follower of Jesus is not determined by your job, your past, or what others think of you. In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus declares that His followers are salt and light. These are not goals to strive toward but statements of who you already are. Salt preserves, flavors, and creates thirst. Light exposes darkness and points others to Christ. The danger is that faith can be watered down, especially when what you consume daily shapes you more than Scripture does. You are an ambassador for Christ, and that identity calls for intentional, Spirit-filled living.

Life is full of uncertainty, but Colossians 3:1-4 points us to a powerful solution: setting our minds on things above rather than on the temporary things of this earth. Because believers have been raised with Christ, their lives are hidden with Him in God, making their future completely secure. Pra…
When someone wrongs us, our first instinct is to get even. In Matthew 5:38-42, Jesus challenges that instinct directly and calls His followers to a radically different way of living. The Law of Retaliation given in the Old Testament was never meant to fuel personal vengeance. It was designed to pro…
Anger is something most of us downplay, calling it frustration or irritation rather than what it really is. In Matthew 5, Jesus raises the standard far beyond outward behavior and goes straight to the heart. He connects anger to murder not to minimize one but to show that both begin in the same pla…
