The NFL is officially back this week. It's been a long off season since we last saw the New England Patriots playing against the l A Rams in the Super Bowl, since we saw the Lombardi Trophy hoisted for a sixth time by Tom Brady, and your long national nightmare is officially over. Thursday night, the NFL is back. I understand it's a preseason game, and I understand that some of you are going to say the preseason football doesn't count. I'm here to tell you it's certainly counts, especially early in preseason football. Thursday night, we've got the Denver Broncos going up against the Atlanta Falcons in the Hall of Fame game and from there it'll be a quick sprint before you know it into the NFL season. So I am ecstatic over the return of football. Call edge football if you are a college football fan. Begins on August and the best game that day is Florida taking on Miami in Orlando, neutral site game there, so we have that to look forward to as well. But with the Thursday night game going on, we're officially underway with preseason football. And it's the time of year when as you check news featuring your favorite team, you almost want to cover your eyes a little bit and peak between your fingers because this is the time of year when Almost all news is bad news, for instance, and not just because you happen to be a Cincinnati Bengals fan a j Green going off with an injury. Just about every single update you get if you are on Twitter, if you're active there, if you're following Facebook, if you're on Instagram watching videos, almost everything is about players leaving the field, tweeked knees, a little bit of an in jury. And this is the time of year when nothing good happens in terms of overall news, because it's hard to tell exactly how much better your young guys are, how much better your team might be. Uh, using preseason practice as the as the as the measuring stick. All that really matters right now, particularly when it comes to top players or quarterback talent, is whether or not people can stay healthy. So we'll see how much Matt Ryan plays, We'll see how much Joe Flacco plays, if at all, in the grand scheme of things on Thursday. But it is pretty exciting to finally have football back in America after a very long off season, the likes of which we don't see in any other sport. You ever notice that football finishes and the off season is massive, particularly college football, which has it even longer off season than the NFL. But both of those sports, it's like hockey barely ends. You barely have time to breathe, and hockey training camp is back up and rolling. The same thing happens with the NBA. The NBA ends and then like two months later they're right back at it again. Football ends in February, and then we don't have anything for so long. The off season is so substantial, and I know you have the draft sprinkled in, and you have free agency, and you have the mini camps, UH and and everything else associated with it, but this is the time of year where your pulse can quicken and you can be a little bit excited about the overall process. It's pretty fantastic. And as part of the overall UH return of football. One of the stories that is getting a lot of attention and has gotten a lot of attention during the entire off season is Tyree Hill. Now, Tyree Hill was set up to talk to the media. This is the first opportunity he's had to address the media since all of the off field drama surrounding his marriage, surrounding the unfortunate injury of his son, the child abuse investigation. Uh, the audio between he and his fiance walking through an airport, all of it is out there, and uh it is pretty uh pretty crazy to me that it sounds like Tyreek Hill wasn't better prepared. We got a couple of cuts for you and then I think we have the full audio to go to at some point, but let's start here. Tyreek Hill was asked about the the audio recording where it was saying that he punched his son in the chest. This was his response, punching my son in my chest. That would probably refer me teaching my son how to box, because we do got boxing glaz um at our house. And I was signing like he's like iron Man, so he loves iron Man, Aquaman. He's like Daddy, come on, come on, come on all the time. So that's that's what it is, man. And you know, sometimes things get thrown out of contexts, you know, when fillings get involved in emotions. But I ain't gonna get into all day right now. So that is pretty much the only thing Tyreek Hill said about the child abuse investigation, although he did get a little bit annoyed with a reporter with Andy Reid. Since since then, it made its ruling. What do you mean, he said, and he said that he didn't talk to him like so it like once you were able to talk to him again, fortunate. So Tyreek Hill, Um, do we have the longer form interview audio from him after practice? Yeah? We have the two minutes of the you know what I'm saying game. Yeah, let's listen to this all right here, here is my thing. You are the Kansas City Chiefs. You know that Tyreek Hill is going to get quizzed aggressively about the off field incidents that surrounded him. And this may or may not be all of it, but it certainly is going to be most pronounced the first time he speaks to media after this, after this offseason. This is his first opportunity to talk to the media. Now, I'm not a public relations expert, I'm not a PR savant, but a big part of preparing someone for speaking to the media is giving them an opportunity to sit across from you and you pepper them with the questions that might arise so that they can get used to answering the questions. This is just PR one oh one. If you are going to have to answer questions at a press conference, and if you aren't very good typically at answering questions, the best way to practice is to have somebody sit across from you and ask the questions that you anticipate the media asking. Okay, so it's not rocket science to forecast what the media might ask. Yet it appears Tyreek Hill has either never had any media training whatsoever or he's totally unprepared for this. We all have patterns of speech that sometimes lead to repeating the same phrase over and over again. A lot of times we do that when we are most nervous. So, if you think about it, a valley girl from California might drop the word like over and over and over again when it's completely unnecessary. Early on, when I would do radio interviews, I would say you know like you know, you like you know you know and and there are lots of things that you might pepper your speech with and not particularly enjoy if you went back and listen to yourself. But Tyreek Hill, do we have a bell in studio? Yeah? Okay. What I want you guys to do is every time Tyreek Hill says you know what I'm saying, I want you to hit the bell. All right? Can we test that pretend that I'm Tyreek Hill. I'm excited for the return of the NFL season. You know what I'm saying. All Right, you might have to be fast on this, alright, so keep your finger poised above it. This is Tyreek Hill in a media availability that you know is going to be a big deal given all of the off season shenanigans surrounding him, and here he is talking to the media. But I just want to start off by saying, like tarda fans, you know what I'm saying, Clark Hunt. Alright, pause, pause, pauses. We missed one already. Who's on that? You know what I'm saying? The buzzer, that's Roberto, Roberto. What happened there? Alright? Restart Roberto? Come on, this is not this is not rocket science here. You know what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying. Alright, you're on this, Roberto, don't screw this up. You're already. Oh for one. Alright, here we go again, Tyreek Hill addressing the media right after the start of Chiefs training camp. But I just want to start off by saying to all the fans, you know what I'm saying, Clark Hunt, Coach Ree um Beach and my teammates, my family, my teammates being my family. You know what I'm saying. I just I just want to thank them, you know what I'm saying, for the support. You know what I'm saying. I'm very appreciative of all of those guys for being in my in my life. You know what I'm saying. Especially I mean my teammates, man, Like you know what I'm saying. Like they stayed on me doing the whole offseason, re workout, re workout. You know what I'm saying, study showing me a little study, doing everything. You know what I'm saying. So I'm very appreciative, appreciative of everybody in my life right now, you know what I'm saying. So I can't wait for my new journey. Man, I'm I'm excited. You know what I'm I'm working every day, you know what I'm saying, to be a better father, but a person, but a better citizen, a better teammate, you know what I'm saying. And a better son too, you know what I'm saying to my parents. So I'm evolving every day. I've learned to um to just appreciate. You know what I'm saying those around me. Man, you know what I'm saying, because I feel like I take that for granted sometimes, you know I'm saying. Being a professional athlete, You know what I'm saying. I I teen to like not stay humble sometimes, and you know what I'm saying. I mean, I still love my kids and I still love my family, you know what I'm saying. But sometimes I feel like I take all of those things for granted, you know what I'm saying. So that's why I like, I really don't call them my teammates, my coaches. I call them my family because that's who they is. Like they brought me in as a family, like they trusted me in its organization. And that's what I'm so appreciative of. You know what I'm saying. They gave me a chance at life so I can change my family life, my kids life, and everybody around me. So because I came from nothing. So I mean, I wish I could get into all that, but I can't. You know what I'm saying. Like I said, I'm just here to like you know what I'm saying, Man, up to what I did. You know what I'm saying, Like on the audio, my my bad language. I'm a man up to that. You know what I'm saying, Like I don't want nobody talking to my little sister, my daughter that I have. Now you know what I'm saying, My mom like that. You know what I'm saying. It's very disrespectful. And I mean my mom got don't tell me like she like thumped me in the ear, like come on, man, read, come on, come on, grow up, grow up out of that. So I never again, Like I said, I'm growing as a human being, as a person, and I'm never again. All right, what was the total? Anybody? Now? I did it? I counted twenty seven. You know what I'm saying in a short period of time. Now, he only talked to the media for around three minutes. So I'm not pretending to be, like I said, a PR expert. But the more verbal ticks you use, the more nervous, and a lot of times, the more dishonest you are being in the way that you talk with people, whoever they may be. Because those verbal ticks are a bridge to provide comfort to you as you are trying to work through what you are saying. So I I just I can't believe that the Kansas City Chiefs did not prepare Tyree Hill better than this, and that he wasn't more on the ball and ready to come out and talk. And you heard, I mean, he really hasn't gotten peppered with that many questions. They didn't let him answer very many. He tried to explain that, you know, the punching his son in the chest was about putting on boxing gloves. And I don't know every now and then, I understand that you might shadow box with your kid or have fun with him. I've got a four year old, and you know sometimes we do that, But I don't think my four year old would ever say, oh, daddy hits me really hard in the chest like basically was alleged in that video. And for the Kansas City Chiefs to trot him out there and have him that unprepared, I also think does it strike anybody else as just a bad look to do that right after practice While you can hear the jugs machine in the background going off with guys catching in the background, let me bring in the crew, do you guys agree? Well, actually, let me go to break. I'll open up the phone lines eight seven, seven, six, three six nine at a minimum for everybody who just heard Tyreek Hills you know what I'm saying, record yourself answering questions sometime on your phone, you know, with the video. If you are going in for an interview, you can use those verbal ticks to such an extent that people won't pay attention to what you say between those verbal ticks because your speech patterns are so ridiculous. And the same thing would be true if you're using the word like all the time, or if you're saying you know, you know what I'm saying is what Tyreek Hill relies upon, but it distracts from whatever message you might otherwise have. I'm curious what people think I'll bring in the crew. It seems a little bit crazy to me that the chiefs, knowing that this was gonna be an incident, and knowing that they needed Tyreek Hill to talk with the media, would decide to do it off on the side of the field while he's sweat and he just practiced in a hundred degree heat or whatever the heck it was in Kansas City, and he's trying to address incredibly serious allegations and issues while he's standing in a dry fit shirt off the side of the practice facility with the Kansas City Chiefs. Um. I understand that they're trying to sweep this story under the rug and make it disappear, but he has to address it in some form or fashion, and I don't really think he pulled it off very smoothly. Be sure to catch live editions about kick the Coverage with Clay Travis weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific. You just heard Tyreek Hill, you know what I'm saying, talking about you know what I'm saying his off season. You know what I'm saying. And I find it a little bit surprising that the Ken City Chiefs didn't have Tyreek Hill better prepared for a media availability. You know that he is going to get crushed with questions, and if he's not really going to answer those questions, then having him at a table in a venue different than just standing off to the side of the football field right after he's done his practice probably puts him in a better position to be able to answer questions. And I just I felt like the entire thing was incredibly awkward in the way that they are handling this now. It doesn't even go into what I think is the biggest issue for the NFL right now, which is Roger Goodell's personal conduct policy is one hundred billion percent broken. It reminds me a little bit now of the n C Double A and the way when punishments come out there's no rhyme or reason to why one team is getting something and the other team is getting something. There's so much variation between the punishments that you look at it and you just say, there's no presidential value what soever to point to. And I feel like that's the case with Tyreek Hill. So I'm not getting even into whether or not he should have been suspended. I think probably based on all the precedents that are out there about the NFL, the allegations against Tyreek Hill were severe enough and there was enough evidence of wrongdoing that there could be at least some element to support suspending him because he had done enough wrong. But when you guys hear this, Danny G when you hear Tyreek Hill attempt to address this and his speech patterns are so bad and he's relying on that verbal tick over and over again, doesn't it make you feel like he's lying and that he's trying to that he's so nervous about talking to the media, that he's trying to protect himself in some way with his with his speech patterns there. I've lived in the San Fernando Valley for a lot of years, so you are an expert on girls who say the word like, Yeah, I have some crutches too from hanging around these girls I've noticed over the years. So I'm not really gonna, you know, ding them on that too much. But as far as the entire thing being uncomfortable, as you mentioned, I totally agree with that. I watched it on the NFL network yesterday. It was completely awkward. He was just talking in circles and then he would say, but I'm not gonna get into any of it. So that was the part I didn't like. Just why not from the start did they just they should have just had him give some sort of heartfelt statement and then say I'm not gonna talk about it for the rest of the camp. Well, here's something easy, and I could say this as both a larrior and someone who has watched people have to talk to the media on a regular basis, come out directly and address it in something simple. I did not commit any aspect of child abuse I'm glad that the NFL investigated this and agreed with me that I had done nothing wrong. My private life has had a lot of challenges over the years. I'm working to be a better father, I'm working to be a better son, I'm working to be a better better you know, boyfriend and fiance every single day and uh and and everything in my life is a work in progress. I can't get into the particular aspects surrounding these allegations. I understand that you guys might have questions about that, but it's an ongoing legal matter and I've been advised not to address it. Uh. Anybody who asked any of those questions, I'm not going to be able to talk about it. But UH, that that is UH, that is where I am. Boom. You're out then and then say, like, if somebody addresses you and ask those questions, which they will, UH, you can say, I appreciate the question, but I can't get into it because of the legal significance, other than to say I've done absolutely nothing wrong. Repeat that twenty times if you have to, and then leave, and then you've answered it going for word, It's not difficult to know that that's what's going to happen, dub When you heard this, first of all, you can hear the jugs machine in the background. I don't think they put Tyreek Hill in the best situation. He's standing there in a dry fit Chiefs jersey, basically on the side with If you haven't ever seen one of these situations happen at training camp, basically the player or the coach just comes off the field, stands there. There's you know, twenty thirty whatever the number of media members there are available right there. They're all standing outside, uh, trying to avoid getting run over, hit by a ball or whatever on the side. It's just an awkward setup that doesn't lend itself to to being very much comfortable and answering those questions. And I'm just stunned that the Chiefs would put him in that situation and that he would seem so unprepared responding to questions that everybody should know are coming, no doubt, and for such an important and you know, obvious press conference it's gonna be coming. You'd think that he'd be somewhere else in a better setting, Like you said, and the whole you know what I'm saying stuff. This is a second or third time I've heard this interview, and I remember the first time I heard it. I was listening in the car yesterday. I didn't even know what he said. All I all I took away from it was you know what I'm saying, because I say, that's pretty much the only thing I heard after, you know, the tenth or eleventh time he said it, So in terms of his ability to answer the questions, it didn't really do him any good because I don't even remember what he answered the questions. All I remember is, you know what I'm saying. And here's here's something that I think is so uh so important about this in general. If you had been for the last several months, let's go back to March or April, or you know, however long you go you want to say it was when this story initially appeared. If everybody had been dragging your name through the mud for March, April, May, June, and the almost the entire month of July, that's five months where you haven't said a word publicly, and your reputation has been completely attacked. Wouldn't you want to talk to the media. A lot of times people look at talking to the media as a chore. But in this situation, if I'm Tyreek Hill, I want to talk to the media and have an opportunity to finally respond and say I didn't do anything wrong here. I wasn't the one who's responsible for my son's injury. I want to thoroughly and completely deny any culpability as loudly as I possibly can, to as much of a scrum of media as I can possibly reach, because this is my opportunity now, after all that silence, to try and finally fire back. And I understand we live in a tribal era right now. People say, you know, in the political universe, you believe completely what your side says, and you disbelieve completely what the other side says. And people are like, I can't believe we've ended up there, And I'm saying, this is the era that I've grown up in in sports, right because I grew up as an SEC football fan, and the way that SEC fans have thought throughout history is the way that people think now in the country. It's very tribal. You will defend your guy, or your side, or your tribe to the ends of the earth while believing the absolute worst about the other tribe. So if you are an Alabama fan, you will believe that Auburn is filled with awful people who will defend anything for purposes of college football. If you're a Michigan fan, you'll believe anything about Ohio State, but they don't look at actual facts. And so if you're a Kansas City Chiefs fan right now, you're like, I can't believe that people said such bad things about Tyreek Hill all this long. You know why you believe that? Because he's good at football, and because you are sociopathic and a moral by and large as a fan. If someone helps your team win football games, that's just the truth. Fans. People want to get on the media, they want to get on the NFL, they want to get on the teams. The story that I found incredibly compelling about ray Rice back when he knocked his fiance out on video was before that video came out. Everybody knew exactly what happened because ray Rice had pled guilty to it, and the number of fans who showed up in Ray Rice jerseys to cheer for him at the Baltimore Ravens first practice would blow your mind. The number of women who showed up to cheer for him that it is because fans are a moral and sociopathic If someone helps their team win, it's very much of a zero sum games. So they are gonna come around and they are going to defend Tyreek Hill no matter what. But just from the perspective of finally having an opportunity to tell your side of the story, Danny g don't I mean, sorry, Eddie Garcia, don't you want like this is your forum. People have been ripping you for five months. You've been able to sit around and think about how you might want to respond to this publicly for that long. And if you, Tyreek Hill, don't understand that you've got an entire public relations and media staff who can sit you down and say, Tyreek, this is a huge opportunity for you. You can address this, put it away behind you forever, convince some people that you didn't do anything wrong. Let's prepare for what you're gonna say, and then all we get is basically a recitation of you know what I'm saying over and over and over again, and no concrete denial, no SoundBite you can grab, a genuine failure to actually connect in anyway. I mean, this is pretty pathetic, right, Eddie. I mean, yeah, it seems like he didn't care enough to you know, sit down and think about what he was gonna say. It just seems like it was very off the cuff. And I mean, I can't believe that he was coached up in any way by the chiefs. And if he was, then then it's even more pathetic. So it didn't it didn't sound great, um, you know, as far as what's going on in the background and how he was dressing, all that kind of stuff. To me, I don't really care about that. I care about what he says and what he had, what he acts, what he says, like if if if he wasn't if he was in a suit sitting in front of a podium, it wouldn't matter to me. Maybe it would matter to other people. But but I'm just saying sometimes the way that you prepare for a for a situation can make you realize the gravity of the situation. Like if you're appearing before a judge, you dress up in a suit instead of T shirts and shorts and flip flops to show respect for the situation sh that you're involved in. And if I had been accused of child abuse for five months First of all, I would have never remained silent, right, That's just me. If you if if, if, if I didn't do something and the media is in a feeding frenzy accusing me of inappropriate behavior, I would have shown up. And I know he sent out a statement defending himself and and those sort of things. But I think that we judge someone's truth or honesty, fair or foul by how they respond in the public venue. I'll give you an example. Remember when the Duke Lacrosse UH players were accused of those heinous acts rape and everything else of the exotic dancer, And one of this Duke Lacrosse players stood up on the day that those guys were accused of crimes and said, these are a huge collection of fantastical lies. I think was the phrase that he used. And he stood there and he made a direct statement to the media, and he came out and he was giving his side of the story. That's what I think people want. If you are accused of something wrong and you didn't do it, we want a full throated denial that you had anything at all to do with this. If I'm Tyree Hill, after five months of my name being dragged through the mud. This is my opportunity to stand up to the media and open up. You get the opening statement to say whatever you want. You don't even have to respond to the questions, but you can address the elephant in the room, the question that you know is hanging over everyone's head, and address it in a solid, smart, intelligent manner and try to allow your side of the story to get out there. And it just didn't happen. And I just thought it sounded pathetic. I thought it didn't speak to And I get your point, Eddie about how oh I don't care what he's wearing when he's making the statement. I think the way that you address serious things acknowledges when you believe something is serious. And so if I'm Tyreek Hill or I'm advising Tyreek Hill, I'm saying, man, let's put on a suit. Let's sit down in front of the entire media. Instead of standing off on the side of the field with the jugs machine going in the background and you saying you know what I'm saying twenty eight times in two minutes. Let's have you ready to sit up there and make your statement, give a full throated denial, acknowledge that this has been a major story, but that you're not gonna be answering questions about it any further, say that you're thankful the NFL has vindicated you, because that's what I would say if you're not being suspended. The NFL is providing as public of a forum of vindication as you can possibly get, and address it in a serious manner, befitting the allegations of seriousness against you, and then boom, you're done. Am I crazy on this? This is outkicked the coverage with Clay Travis. Welcome back, I go out kick studios. Hope all of you are having fantastic mondays. Rejoice the NFL is back. And one thing about the NFL being back is Tyreek Hill had to address his off season of tumult and he didn't do a very good job of it. Standing off to the side of the Kansas City Chiefs uh practice uh field there. And my argument is this is pretty pathetic by Tyreek Hill, by the Chiefs and just in general, for the seriousness of the allegations that were alleged against him during the entirety of the off season. His first response, we may play it for you again later in the show, maybe at the top of our three. But how many times did he say you know what I'm saying in two minutes? Danny g seven times? Twenty seven times he's said you know what I'm saying during a two minute statement about this incident. We've got several people who went to weigh in. Let's go to the calls, dub who's up first? We got Derek and Iowa, Derek, what you got for me? Hey, good morning boys. Um. I think it's a few factors in this. I think the Chief's organization doesn't want to touch us with a ten foot poll anymore once they got the decision from Goodell. Um. And also I think Tyreek is just immature, and I'm sure his attitude has some type of influence on the Chief's not talking to him and maybe prepping him. And when you have someone that says something like that, UM a lot. It's just over conversation and maybe a degree of guilt of some level. Um, it's kind of an overkill. And speaking of overkill, if you think about o j um Ojay always said, UH, to be honest with you, to be totally honest. So we know that that was just the opposite. And you know what, I'm saying, yeah. Verbal thanks, called verbal ticks are something that you don't really know, the crutches that we rely on, whether you're a California Valley girl dropping like or I'll tell you. When I first started doing radio, I did radio as a guest, and I would go back and listen to my radio hits because I wanted to get better at it. And the amount of times that I said you know, blew my mind because I was nervous. And also it's it's hard. Open space in a conversation is hard. We have a natural inclination to want to fill it. So I talked for three hours every single day. And if I pause like this, in my head, it sounds like that lasted forever dead air, Oh my god. And so the first few times that you get interviewed, you are likely to rely on those verbal ticks even more than in pastimes. But this is something you have to work on as a communicator, and if you're going to be addressing something serious. I just think the chiefs, Tyree Hill, everybody advising him this was a bad look and a bad situation. And also it's tough to do period if you're coming off in the after being in the hot sun, practicing for two hours or whatever he was doing as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, and then you suddenly, still in your workout gear, in your dry fit, have to talk about really serious allegations that were against you, made against you. You're probably not gonna be the best advocate for yourself because you're out of breath, you're sweaty, it's hot, you're standing outside. There are still some of your teammates working on the jugs machine making catches nearby, and you're gonna try to address allegations that have been out there for five months about child abuse. In that situation and in that scenario, I think this is something that should happened inside. You should have prepared yourself. You should have been wearing a suit. You should have talked to everybody all at once. Just I. I sometimes wonder who's advising athletes and what in the world teams are paying their pr staff for the Chiefs. Blew it here? Who's up next? We got Steve calling from Indiana. Steve, what you got? Yeah, well, you think of articulates, not it um he can catch. But let me let me pause here, Let me let me pause you here for a sec If you actually take out all that you know what I'm saying is and just listen to his word choice and his vocabulary, it's much better than the average athlete is going to be. So he doesn't need to sound like one of the greatest orators of all time. He just needs to maximize his overall talents. Don't try to make him something that he's not. We're not going to turn him suddenly into uh into I don't know who's the Abraham Lincoln or or John F. Kennedy, right, but we can at least allow him to be the best advocate for himself and this situation and this scenario didn't permit that. Right. We'll also think that they on a have a class or do something to these athletes so when they do get in these situations, they don't come across like like he did. Um. Yeah, thanks for the point. Yeah, continue. So your points on putting the suit, on putting him in the room, I think that would make him very uncomfortable. I think he was probably most comfortable on the sidelines with you know, with the jug machine going in the background. Yeah, that's a bad look. We'll keep taking your calls. Eight seven seven six three, six nine, and some people. Somebody just tweeted me and he was like, well, maybe this is the best Tyreek can do. This is him after prep, and I doubt that that's the case. I doubt that this is the best that he is capable of doing. And again, even if he's reading from a prepared statement or memorizing it and being able to sit up there and make that statement off the top, it puts all this behind him and we move on. Instead, the Chiefs just keep making bad decisions surrounding Tyreek Hill. I think this is outkicked the coverage with Clay Travis. All thirty two NFL teams are officially underway in training camp. We still got substantial holdouts Ezekiel Elliott still out, Melvin Gordon still out. We'll see what exactly ends up happening with both of those guys. That storyline, in general, I would imagine, will continue to grow as we try and figure out exactly what the Cowboys and what the Chargers are going to do surrounding both of those running backs. I think that the problem that they have, while both men are incredibly talented at their position, is that the running back position has just become so devalued. What has not become devalued is a playmaking wide receiver, particularly when he has paired with a big time quarterback. That is what it appears to Kansas City Chiefs have as they will not suffer any penalty from Tyree Hills summer of transgressions. He addressed the media in a not very forthright fashion off the field over the weekend after the Kansas City Chiefs open training camp. By the way, first game of the NFL season. I know it's the preseason, but the Denver Broncos play the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, and I feel like there is such a hunger for football that the audience which watches that preseason football game and probably gambles on it as well, will be downright massive. And I cannot weigh to see what will what will happen in that game, whether Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, remember Joe Flacco now out in Denver, what the impact will be for both of those guys, how much they'll play, what we'll see from those teams. But the big storyline in the off season in terms of off the field transgressions was Tyreek Hill. If you here heard us start off the show an hour one, we played June audio clip of Tyreek Hills saying twenty seven times you know what I'm saying in a two minute opening statement. He didn't really talk to the media at all. Not a lot to come from that, not a very full throated defense. It just sounded like a guy who didn't take the allegations against him very seriously, and a guy who wasn't even that frankly, that interested in providing a defense for himself. I think we got a couple of calls left. At least we go to the OutKick v I P line. Who's there Dan in New Jersey? Dan, what's up? Hi? I agree with you. I think that came off as very inauthentic, the way he presented himself and the way he gave a statement. But I also think that's a little bit of just how Tyreek Hill is. I think he doesn't care about his image. UM. I think he knows that fans have his their opinions of him one way or the other. UM. People are gonna love him or hate him, and I don't think he's really gonna change anyone's mind about him. But I want to just quickly talk about one thing that he said in UM In particular, when he defended his words about plunging his son in the chest, he said it was referring to teaching his kid how to box. Does anyone think that you should be teaching uh, your your kid of that of that age boxing by uh, you know, a live demonstration. I don't think that. I like who who came up with this, um this excuse for those words, Like I'm sure they had all the PR guys drafting that that statement with him, and that's the best they came up with. And I don't think that that makes it remotely Okay, Yeah, thanks for that, We have that audio. Uh, Tyreek Hill, thanks for the call. Was accused of punching his chest, his son in the chest, and he has five months to come up with a defense for why he was accused of punching his son in the chest. And what he comes up with is we have boxing gloves in the house. We put those on sometimes. My son likes Iron Man and Aquaman, and so I mean it's a totally illogical defense. Again, for five months, you've been accused of child abuse. You have an opportunity finally to fire back in a public venue and deny that you are a child abuser, whoever you are, man, woman, listening to me right now driving into work. Imagine if for five months you were accused of child abuse, and one aspect of that child abuse was you were accused of punching your son in the chest. You finally get an opportunity to speak back to all your critics, to set them right, to tell the truth. And this is what you say, punching my son in my chest. That would probably refer me teaching my son how to box, because we do got boxing glaz um at our house. And I was signing like, he's like iron Man, so he loves iron Man, Aquaman. He's like Daddy, come on, come on, come on all the time. So that's that's what it is, man. And you know, sometimes things get thrown out of contexts, you know, when feelings get involved in emotions. But I ain't gonna get into all that right now, So explain yourself. You put on boxing gloves with your three year old and you punch him in the chest. It doesn't seem like that good of a defense to me. Honestly, I I just I mean, I I don't get it at all. I also don't understand look, I've had three year old sons. I've got a four year old son right now. He likes iron Man and Aquaman and all the other superheroes. I don't really see how that factors in with you hitting him in the chest, and in order to get hit in the chest such that you tell your wife, your mom all the time that you got hit in the chest. It doesn't really sound like a very valid defense. Again, this is just such a bad performance by Tyreek Hill and the truth maybe, Like a caller just said, Kan City Chiefs fans are gonna root for him because they're a moral sociopaths and because he's good at playing football. And I'm not trying to pick on Chiefs fans. That's the way that most fans are. I've said for a long time, if Nick Saban got accused of murder, Alabama fans would believe him. If he came out in a press conference and said, this is a setup by Auburn fans because we're so good at football. There's a huge percentage of people of Nick Saban were led away in handcuffs and accused of murder, so long as it wasn't on video. If Nick Saban addressed the accusations and said, these are completely may it up. This is a conspiracy by Auburn fans because we're so good at football. They're trying to get me out of the head coaching spot at the University of Alabama so they can win football games against us. There's a huge percentage of Alabama fans that would believe Nick Saban because they are a moral They are sociopathic when it comes to winning football games. The joy of winning football games so exceeds the joy of being a moral person that you are willing to overlook a great amount of wrongdoing potentially in order to win games. Number of Alabama fans that would call in the day after Nick Saban was charged with murder and say, let's be fair, these are just allegations, and it's not just Nick Saban. It could be to a And I'm picking on Alabama fans there, but when Cam Newton was getting paid by all earned the number of Auburn people that would be like, well, we don't really like Cam Newton hasn't done anything wrong. This is you know, this is totally inappropriate. Like you will defend to the ends of the earth your guy, no matter what the allegations are against him. If if the guy is good enough, Tyreek Hill is a very good wide receiver. So there are people out there who heard this press conference, and we'll play it again for you at the top of our three and we'll say, you know what, I believe in Tyreek Hill dub which got for me? Yeah, we got one more caller lined up. We got Jeff in Pasadena. Jeff, what's up, hey, Clay? I agree with you, man, I mean, it's I know, it's I know he plays a different sports, but it's kind of like what you said about kind of like similar to Lance Armstrong. All he did was say, you know, denied, denied, deny, deny, and he you know, I didn't know if I was on my bike for six hours u a day or whatever training, And no matter what he said to the media or fans, the fans just locked it up. You know, they believed everything that he didn't. I'm sure you've got calls back then. Maybe cycling isn't that big of a sport or you know, has that big of an audience anymore, but you know, I'm sure you guys got calls daily or weekly from people saying, oh, you know, he's into its totly allegations. He never did it. He never did he never tested positive. But it's the same thing with Tyreek Killer. It's like, you know what, if he came off really bad in the interview, I think, and in just my opinion, I went to broadcasting school, so I know what you're talking about as far as crutches go and not using them and you know, things like you know and man all the time. Um, I think that in order for him to really kind of come across as a legit, maybe honest guy, if that's even possible at this point, but maybe the chief should have hired like maybe a spokesman for him or somebody who you know, gives good speeches or whatever, and maybe he should have prepared a statement beforehand and read off it, or like I said, had had somebody standing x to him during the you know, giving an interview and saying, look, this is what I want you to say, and this guy tells him everything that you know he has written down in the statement or whatever, and maybe he comes across better that way. But like you said, I I agree with you one percent. It feels kind of fishy to me. And I mean, you know, I'm alliance fan. I know that has nothing to do with it, but you know it's like if one of the Lion players we're caught doing something like that, hanus like that or bad like that. I I don't think I could support them and go, well, you know, it's just allegations. It doesn't mean anything. It's like, you know what, I don't want that person on my team. I don't want that person getting into the locker room and heading and you know, playing head games, because that's not fair. Thanks for Look, here's the truth of the matter. If Tyreek Hill is innocent, which is what Chief Stands want to believe, this is his opportunity to make that case to everyone, not just in Kansas City, but around the nation. And I just want you to think about for a minute, if for five months you had been accused of one of the most heinous crimes that you can be accused of. Right, if you just had to, right now listening to me, put in a flow chart, what crimes would you least like to be accused of publicly? Number one might well be child abuse. On the entire list of crimes that you could be accused of, child abuse would rank certainly in the top five and maybe number one out there. If you're accused of murder, you might have a defense it was self defense. It was uh, it was a uh, it was I didn't do it. Uh. There are all sorts of defenses you could have if you are accused of murder. If you are accused of child abuse, the only thing you can say is I didn't do it. And I would think that you would want to scream that from the heavens, particularly if it was your own child that you are accused of abusing, because one day that kid is going to get up and be able to sit in front of a computer and whether or not they remember, because kids are so young, you would want to see your dad, I would think on video saying I didn't do anything at all to my child. And for Tyreek Hill to be unable to provide that scintilla of defense, it's pretty pathetic. And for the Kansas City Chiefs to trot him out there on the side of a practice field with a jugs machine going off in the background and allow him to try to address an incredibly serious allegation that was a shadow hanging over the organization for five months and a dry fit T shirt where for a two minute process he says you know what I'm saying and twenty seven times and in no way offers a full throated defense of himself. I think it's pretty pathetic. I think it's a bad look for the NFL. I think it's a bad look for the Kansas City Chiefs. Put him in a suit, sit him down, let him tell you straight up that he didn't do it, and let him answer questions. And if you can't prepare him to do that, then that's on you. And if Kyrie Hill doesn't want to do it, somebody needs to sit him down and explain the significance of defending himself. I can't believe I have to say that. But if you didn't do it and your name has been dragged through the mud for five months, this is what I'm skeptical about in general. I just I if you imagine yourself, you're out there right now, driving into work, coming home from work, whatever your work schedule is. If for five months your name was dragged through the mud, wouldn't you be coming out as aggressive as possible to let people know that this wasn't true. Far from being an obligation that he didn't want to take part in Tyreek. Hill should have seen this as an opportunity for vindication, a chance to speak to the nation and say I didn't do this. The stories you have heard about me are untrue. And he either couldn't or he wouldn't take that opportunity, which makes me think that he's honestly guilty on some level. You know what I'm saying twenty seven times in two months and in two minutes, that doesn't sound to me like an innocent man defending himself. What you got, Roberto, because he he doesn't, He doesn't, he he doesn't care. He gotta, he gotta. He got away with no suspension. Nothing's gonna happen, So he didn't, so obviously he doesn't care. Anybody who punches her three year old in the chest doesn't give a crap about anything. I mean, do you have a young kid when you hear a defense of like and if you don't remember that audio when he says, daddy did it? You know for the broken arm when he said he punches him all the time. Uh, I've got it. I've had three different three year old right now. You have a three year old right now, I have a four year old right now. Occasionally I will shadow box with him, right, like, you know, just to play games. There's no point in time where I ever hit him while I'm shadow boxing in a significant enough fashion for him to feel it in his chest. Right, three year old? You have a three year old daughter, and if he used the boxing glove, still that's enough to be able to put some kind of damage to his son. Also, Yeah, putting on boxing gloves and hitting a three soft in anything, Yeah, it doesn't seem very smart. And do they have boxing gloves for kids and or adults? Because when he says they have boxing gloves, like, okay, so does he have full adult size boxing gloves and then his three year old has? Do they make three year old sized boxing gloves? Probably? They do. They make everything. But are that even seems a little bit strange to me. So you're lacing up boxing gloves with your three year old and like having a you know, like a go of it. It doesn't make any sense at all. Now if you have like you know, I don't know, like those kind of big fluffy boxing gloves or something, May I just the defense ones? Yeah, maybe I'll grant you that. Maybe nothing would was seriously hurt your child. But still, but if you're gonna use this as a defense, you should have been like, we have those huge gloves instead of making people think that you're putting on gloves and actually shadow boxing with your three year old. It just doesn't it doesn't make sense. It's not a good defense. And again, that entire press conference which will play at the top of or three, just a bad look for Tyree Hill also talk about that with Alex Marvez. And if if you're not familiar, and I understand some people aren't, if you're not familiar with how these setups happen, training camp in the NFL is probably the best value in all of American pro sports. You can show up, if you haven't been before, and you have a favorite team, you can show up. You can watch the team practice. You're very close right like you can easily almost reach out and touch the players at most of the fields, and right after practice ends, players and coaches will be made available to the media and they usually just drop down like a screen, you know, like one of those screens that you can just pull up and it has like the team logo behind him, and the player can just stand there and you don't see the media members, but they have it's, you know, a press availability. That's what Tyreek Hill did and for his defense after five months of child abuse allegations to be Hey, we shadow box and I put on gloves and I hit my kid. I don't think saying you hit your kid when you are charged with child abuse is a good defense. Oh I hit him, but I don't hit him that hard. That's basically what Tyreek Hill's defense was. That's not a good defense. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the I Heart Radio app. Search f s R to listen live. We were just talking about how awesome training camp can be, notwithstanding how awful Tyreek Hill was doing managing to defend himself. But we do have a positive story and there are many positive stories about fan and player interactions. Juju Smith Schuster is now the man in Pittsburgh with Antonio Brown gone, and Steeler fans are going mad for him. In fact, listen to this audio. Dude I signed his dude head today. He had, but he had the Stiller's logo like tattooed in his head. So he had a mohawk, and then you get like he signing to my my help my helmet. I'm like, what hell are you talking about? I signed his head, his actual head like shark beat all that. I want the ticking sharp for the next week. He might. Honestly, if he does iolate it, if he gets at tattoo on his head, I'll get him any tickets at any game. So if he's out there watching this, yes, I think did it? Didn't it come out that Juju Smith Schuster got the Guys season tickets? Isn't that the follow up to that audio? Can somebody looked this up? I mean I saw the headline that he said, if he gets it tattooed on his head, I'll get him tickets. I think he bought the Guys season tickets. Yeah, it is just on Twitter here it says yep, I got him. He's got season tickets now. Respect. So yeah, and Schuster posted the picture of the autograph next to Eddie. What would it take for you? You're a hardcore Steeler fan, what would what would you need in order to get a Steeler helmet tattooed on your body? Yeah? I'm not really into the tattoo thing. Um, I don't have any tattoos, and I mean, I guess the good news for this guy is if forever, for whatever reason, if you wanted to, I think I'm right, if you get a tattoo on your head, the hair can still grow there, right, I think. So, I don't think you've killed the hair follicles by getting a hat, tatto, tattoo. So I mean, if you, you know, you get a job. I don't think this guy is gonna get a job, a great job, but if he did, it's a job you can still you know, grow the hair out there. But I don't know what it would take, Clay. I mean, everybody has their price. I certainly have mine, but uh, it would take a lot. We're talking about the difference in terms of the media can be important in terms of the overall impressions that a player creates in the fan base. Juju Smith Schuster is insanely beloved in Pittsburgh right now, right and not just because of him. It's because of I think there are a lot of Steeler fans out there that were frustrated with Levian Bell, and they were frustrated with Antonio Brown, and they want somebody to really kind of latch onto on that offensive side of the ball, other than Ben Roethlisberger, who, let's be honest, has never been that likable of a guy. I mean, would you agree with that as a Steeler fan. It's not like Roethlisberger is this effervescent, joyful, particularly beloved quarterback. He wins at a high level and that makes people like him, but I don't think they love him. And I think Juju Smith Schuster has stepped right into that void of Steeler playmakers and been an incredible nificiary, not just because of how likable he is, but also because he seems even more likable in comparison with the other stars on the offensive side of the ball. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. I mean it started from his first year, and I mean performance is a big part of it. But uh, you know, like when he first got signed by the Steelers, he was riding his bike like to practice. You know, he didn't have his driver's license. I think he was the youngest player in the NFL when they first signed him. Uh, just just little things like that. He's done a lot of things doing dear himself to to Steelers fans for sure. By the way, I was like blown away by this over the weekend. Um, did you guys see the crowds that existed for the Fortnight Championship? First of all, full disclosure, I have played Fortnite a couple of times. My boys are obsessed with it, right, My eleven and eight year olds would sit around and play Fortnite all day if we would let them. And if you're out there right now and you're listening to us and you have no idea what I'm talking about. Fortnite is a massively popular multiplayer video game that basically they have Battle Royal starting every second all day long, so there are a hundred people who descend into this battlefield. It's not violent, you know, in the same way that say Mortal Kombat used to be back in the day. But you are running around ound and you're trying to kill the other people. It's almost like a Hunger games essentially, uh and one person ends up ultimately triumphing. Did you guys see this thing that they were doing. I believe they did in Arthur Ashe Stadium in UH in New York. Yeah. They gave away three million dollars right, Yeah. The winner it was a sixteen year old kid. He won three million dollars. But this seems like a transformative kind of moment in general in the rise of gaming. The audiences overseas have been insanely massive for some of these events, but to have this many people, I mean, this is the Arthur ash Stadium, is the US Open tennis, so they basically filled that place up. And this that they were playing what they called the Fortnite World Cup, and the winner got three million dollars. And to put that in context, the Wimbledon champion gets two point nine eight million, the D five hundred champ gets two point five million, the mat Masters golf champ gets just shy of two million dollars. So the Fortnite World Cup champion, the video game champion here makes more than the champ of Wimbledon, the Indy five or the Masters. And a sixteen year old kid, one sixteen year old kid and his dad, I believe, did the Fortnite dance in celebration. So but I I watched some of this and and I just watched primarily clips of it. I feel like this is going to become even bigger and bigger of a thing. Because I don't know about you, but if you have young kids. They love watching other people play video games, and I feel like this thing a decade from now is going to keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Uh, in terms of the crowds that will show up to watch video game competitions. Are you buying or selling that idea, Danny G No, you're right. It's completely different from when we were all kids, because the worst yeah, the worst, well, besides that, the worst part of video games when we were youngsters was having to sit and wait as your older brother or cousins punked you and made you wait your turn, which could be an hour, and you just sat there with boredom because you wanted to be on the controller. Now, the fact that kids go to YouTube and all the different apps and the different platforms out there to actually watch others play video games is pretty insane from where we come from. And the fact that now it's turned into these huge tournaments doesn't surprise me at all. And it's just gonna keep getting more popular. Oh, I think it's gonna get wilder and bigger and bigger. And now, um, somebody made the argument to me recently. They said, well, that's what you do when you watch sports. It's like, you could go out and actually play football, you could go out and actually play baseball, you could go out and actually play soccer or basketball or whatever it is. But we as fans, as sports fans by and large, especially as we age, sit and watch other people play the games, and the kid out there who feels like I mean, I thought it was kind of weird watching people play video games, but it's kind of just a natural extension of the definition of what a sport is. And I'm not necessarily saying video game playing is a sport. It's a competition. But I think this thing is going to get insanely more and more popular because it's what I see kids doing, and they find the play of these games to be a lot more exciting and uh and and and and thrilling than they do buy in large sports themselves. So I think this is a interesting leaping jumping off point. When you're paying a guy the kind of championship salary that you got for winning Fortnite sixteen year old kid, it's absolutely wild. Uh, Eddie Garcia, why is that not in your update? By the way, Uh, you gotta update, you gotta add in the Fortnite kid winning the championship. I think you just did it for me. Yeah, I know. And this is like the biggest news of the weekend so far of Pennsylvania. Congratulations, there you go. We come back. I'm gonna sign for sports on television this. I don't know if this story is getting that much attention, but if you are a Dish Network subscriber, all of the regional sports networks are currently blacked out on your subscription. What does that mean for sports going forward? Why does it matter? Gonna hit you with that detail when come back. Also, the top of our three, if you haven't heard Tyreek Kills, you know what I'm saying, awful defense. You know what I'm saying of You know what I'm saying his child abuse situation. You know what I'm saying. We will play it for you at the top of our three and it will make you pull your hair out in frustration. Also, Alex Marvez will join us an hour three to break down all the latest NFL training camp drama and news that's still to come but up next. This is a big story you should be paying attention to Dish Network versus all of the regional sports networks. What's going on here. This is OutKick on Fox Sports Radio. This is Outkicked the coverage with Clay Travis here in the Gey co Outkicks studios. Something interesting is going on, UM and I'm not sure if you guys have been paying attention to it. I don't think anybody on this show has Dish Network. Anybody have Dish Network. There are millions of people out there who do have Dish Network. And if you have Dish Network right now, all of your Fox regional sports channels are pulled off of Dish Network. UM. And this is fascinating because there is a what's called a carriage dispute. UM. And as part of this, you're losing your ability to watch all of these different games right like everything that you might have been following, uh for your local regional broadcast. And I've got a list, I think somewhere nearby of all of these different regional sports broadcast. But there's an interesting for raise that is out there. Uh So, first of all, we take a step back. One reason, the primary reason in fact that athletes make so much money is because of sports on television. Sports on television is the primary reason why whether it's football in the NFL, whether it's the NBA, Major League Baseball, wherever it is. The primary reason why athletes make so much money is because the number of games on television have expanded in a substantial way. So while the revenue produced by on the field games and everything else that's taking place in the fans who show up to watch the games in person matters, the really massive big money is in television rights and the way that local teams. Like there's the national broadcast right and everybody gets a share of that, but the way that local teams make their money is, let's say, on Fox Sports Ohio or Fox Sports Tennessee or Fox Sports Southwest or whatever it is. There are these regional sports networks that carry your local team. And right now, those regional sports networks, the Fox ones anyway, twenty two of them recently sold from Fox uh Sports to Disney. Disney and ESPN had to divest them, which means sell them to somebody else, and they have been purchased by a company called Sinclair. Well, Dish network has got a millions and millions of subscribers. And if you're not familiar with this network, they are a competitor with Direct TV. They are a satellite service, and they have started what could be a massive war between sports and cable and satellite providers by pulling all of these channels off of their network. So if you are a Dish Network subscriber, you are losing all these local games. And this is something I actually want to open up phones for maybe tomorrow or later in the week to have a discussion on this, because what has been said is pretty aggressive. Here, a vice president for Dish Network said, uh, these Uh, it relies on the majority of customers subsidizing the slim minority who actually watch these channels. Regional Sports Network should be like a ticket to the ballpark. Fans who want to watch the game should be the ones who pay for it. Now, this goes into the cable and satellite bundle in general. If you have cable or satellite and I'm actually curious, uh, does everybody on this show have a cable or satellite package? Danny G you have a cable or satellite package? I do. Spectrum is my CA. Now do you get the Dodger games? That's been a big deal in l A right. Can you watch those? I can? In fact, Spectrum is the host of the Is that why you got Spectrum. No, I'm glad I do. I had Charter and they were purchased by Spectrum. Okay, so that gave you the opportunity to watch Dodger games dub. Do you subscribe for cable or satellite service? No? We stream everything in our house, like the classic millennials that we are. Okay, So you stream everything? How do you stream it legally or illegally? No? Illegally. I still I have the information to my mom's cable subscription, so I start slugged into that through my Apple TV and basically have everything. So you just use your mom's sign in and otherwise you don't pay anything for a cable or satellite subscription, so you just have an internet. You pay for the internet, you know, to your apartment or whatever, and that's how you watch all sports. Yeah, all right, what about you, Eddie? How do you watch sports right now? Direct TV? No Dodgers, no Pac twelve network for me? Okay, So how frustrating is it to you that you don't have the Dodgers and you don't have a pactwelve. Not a Dodger fan, So I don't really care about that, although I would watch them, you know if if they were on uh. Pack twelve is a little bit a little more annoying because there's always a couple of football games I want to watch I can't watch. Yeah, so uh and what about you, Roberto, how do you watch? I got PlayStation View PlayStation View, which is like an online uh streaming service. Yeah, I got on my Apple TV, so you can. And what do you have to pay for that? It's a fifty four and ninety nine, so pretty cheap, and you can watch every game you get, every game that you want through PlayStation View. I got ESPN, ESPN two, all the NFL network, MLB Network, and NBA TV, and I have all the local Fox sports channels. I don't have the Dodgers or the Lakers. But it's not a problem because I have the MLB app bat app, which I also have on my Apple TV, and I streamed that. I'm able to watch the Dodgers because I paid for a service that lets me watch the Dodgers even I'm supposed to be blacked out. Yeah, alright, So it's not a surprise that on a sports talk radio show that all of us would do what her we have to to watch a to watch a favored team this is and and and again. I want to do this tomorrow because I think it is a or maybe Wednesday. I think this is emblematic of a larger issue that's gonna become very commonplace. What I want to do tomorrow is have Dish Network subscribers call in because I'm sure there are millions of you out there right now who are who are subscribers, uh, because they're I don't know they have ten million subscribers or something like that. I'm sure a lot of you are listening to us right now and right now blocked out at that at that location is like twenty different local um local stations right. And this is a pretty big deal because I think it's emblematic if you read that quote that I just hit you from Dish Network. Uh, they are saying, basically, the regional sports TV business model is broken. This is a direct quote from their senior vice president of programming. It relies on the majority of customers subsidizing the slim minority who actually watch these channels. Rs N should be like a ticket. Regional Sports Network should be like a ticket to the ballpark. Fans who want to watch the game should be the ones who pay for it. What they are saying is that it should be a premium channel. Effectively, that's what Dish Network is now arguing. So if you have a favorite local team that you watch, Dish Network is arguing you should be paying for that outside of the bundle like we pay for HBO. That changes everything in the world of sports economics on television and beyond. We're gonna have a big discussion about that tomorrow, but right now, if you have Dish, I'm curious what your feedback is. You can hit me at Clay Travis. Will this impact your decision of whether or not to keep them? This is outkicked. The coverage with Clay Travis. Football is back, beginning this week, all the way through the first weekend in February, and all the way through the last weekend in April, if you want to extend it that far to include the XFL. There will be a college football or an NFL game every week from now until early February or late April. There will be football. There will be scores of football. You will be bathing in gridiron greatness. And it all begins this week Thursday night. You've got everybody reported now all thirty two NFL teams in training camp beginning this week. On Thursday night, we got the Hall of Fame game between uh the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons. That game will happen on Thursday night. It will have a massive audience. Everybody is getting updates on their favorite teams right now. Springs eternal in the NFL because there are so many teams over the years that go from worst to first that now is the time when you can kick back and actually enjoy the storylines of the offseason and see fingers crossed, whether your team's transactional moves might all come to fruition, why everything might finally come up roses. This is the time for irrational optimism, no matter who your team is. Before there's too many injuries. Although I'm sorry Bengals fans, in addition to being cursed by the fact that you are Bengals fans, you also manage to have had the most significant injury to occur so far, with a j Green out for substantial amounts of time. R G three also has has dealt with an injury. He's not gonna be back until around the first week of the season. I think at best, with a with a broken bone in his hand. R G three has just been one injury after another his entire career. But a j Green maybe back by week one will see exactly with the injury that he went down with. But we are officially underway with NFL training camp season, and as a part of being underway with NFL training camp season, this is pretty intriguing. I thought, um, we already have a ridiculous decision being made, and that ridiculous decision made by Tyree Hill and the Kansas City Chiefs. If you haven't heard this already, I'm gonna put Roberto on the clock once more. We played this an hour one of the show. This is now our three of the show. We're gonna be joined, by the way by Alex Marvez in the next segment. You know that Tyree Hill, wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been under siege basically this entire offseason with the allegation that he is a child abuser. Miraculously, if you consider all NFL precedent, the NFL did not suspend Tyreek Hill at all, so he's not gonna miss a single game for child abuse allegations. For the NFL's investigation. This is the first time that he has talked to media. He decides to do so in a dry fit shirt right off the sidelines of the Kansas City Chiefs Facility where he is standing there and he is allowing all of the all the jugs machine to be going in the background, and he says, you know what I'm saying, over and over and over again. Here is Tyreek hills opening statement. I want you to think about what you would say if for five months you had been accused of child abuse and this is your first opportunity to come back and tell people, you know what, that's not actually true. How fiery would you be? How excited would you be to defend yourself? Here is Tyreek Hill. Tell me if this outs like a completely innocent man who can't wait to prove and tell you that he has been vindicated and that he has done nothing wrong. This is Tyreek Hill his first statement to the media since five months of coverage about him being an alleged child abuser. Hereos but I just want to start off by saying, like Tarder fans, you know what I'm saying. Clark Hunt, coach ree um Beach and my teammates my family, my teammates being my family. You know what I'm saying. I just I just want to thank them, you know what I'm saying, for the support. You know what I'm saying. I'm very appreciative of all of those guys for being in my in my life. You know what I'm saying. Especially I mean my teammates, man, Like you know what I'm saying. Like they stayed on me doing the whole offseason workout, re workout. You know what I'm saying, study showing me love, study doing everything. You know what I'm saying. So I'm very appreciative, appreciative of everybody in my life right now, you know what I'm saying. So I can't wait for my new journey. Man, I'm I'm excited. You know what I'm said. I'm working every day, you know what I'm saying, to be a better father, but a better citizen, a better teammate, you know what I'm saying. And a better son too, you know what I'm saying to my parents. So I'm evolving every day. I've learned to um to just appreciate. You know what I'm saying those around me, man, You know what I'm saying, because I feel like I take that for granted sometimes, you know what I'm saying. Being a professional athlete, you know what I'm saying, I tend to like not stay humble sometimes, and you know what I'm saying. Like I said, I'm just here to like you know, I'm saying, man up to what I did. You know what I'm saying, like on the audio, my my bad language, I'm a man up to that. You know what I'm saying, Like I don't want nobody talking to my little sister, my daughter that I have. Now you know what I'm saying, my mom like that. You know what I'm saying. It's very disrespectful. And I mean my mom gotn't tell me like she like thumped me in the ear, like come on, man, we come on, come on, grow up, grow U out of that. So never again. Like I said, I'm going as a human being, as a person, and I'm never again. So Tyreek Hill, you know what I'm saying. What was the count? Danny G seven seven? You know what I'm saying is in about a two minute clip. He was also asked about statements about punching his son in the chest. Oh guys, it was totally totally an overreaction. He just puts on boxing gloves with his kids. Sometimes it's three year old and hits him punching my son in my chest. That would probably refer me teaching my son how to box, because we do got boxing gloves um at our house. And I was sunning, like he's like Iron Man, so he loves Iron Man, aqua man. He's like daddy, come on, come on, come on, all the time. So that's that's what it is, man. And you know, sometimes things get thrown in out of context, you know, when feelings getting emotions. But I'm gonna get a tall today right now. I mean, who among us hasn't strapped on boxing gloves and squared up in the ring with their three year old? I mean, let he who has not put on boxing gloves and pummeled his three year old, let him throw stones. I know, Roberto, you have a three year old. I have a four year old. We built an entire boxing ring in our house and I regularly lace up my gloves. He puts on his gloves and we go twelve rounds three minutes. It's not I don't want people to get carried away. I mean we have breaks in between the rounds and like his mom gives him water and you know, stuff like that. But but yeah, I beat the crap out of him because concussion protocol. No, no concussion protocol. I'm not teaching him to be a woos. We're not gonna throw in the white towel. I mean, come on, you have five months to come up with the defense of yourself. You drop twenty seven. You know what I'm saying in two minutes, there's horns going off in the back ground, the jugs machine is in the background. You're on the sideline of a practice field. You have an opportunity to defend yourself, and your defense for why you hit your kid is we put on boxing gloves and train like we were like training him how to be a boxer at three, and you hit him Like this is so insanely dumb that everyone at the Chiefs organization should be embarrassed for this. Tyree Hill his representatives, How is this possible that after five just think about this for a minute, if you had five months of people accusing you of one of the most heinous crimes that can be committed in America today, short of like child porn. Child abuses probably the number one thing that you don't want to be accused of in the country. Right now, you're driving into work and you're thinking to yourself, what is the worst crime that you can be a used of in America today? Child porn is probably number one? Because I've never heard anybody defend themselves like once you get accused of having child pornography, it's almost impossible to defend yourself. It's an accusation that's insanely difficult to come back fro him. Other than that, child abuse is probably number two. And what they have in common is both of them involved crimes against children. And so if somebody is alleged or has alleged that you have committed any kind of crime involving a child, can you imagine that this is your defense after five months of silence, You've had five months to think about what everybody else is saying about you, and your defense is awful, awful twenty seven times. You know what I'm saying, you know what I'm saying, and you try to defend yourself from boxing with a child. I mean, Burdo, you have a you have a three year old. Right, What do you think people would say if your daughter said, daddy hits me and you said no, no, no, Then let me put this into better context. We put on boxing gloves and hit each other in the house. People would people would think that I'm lying in that I'm a child abuser. For sure, my wife would think I'm crazy. I mean, this is this is crazy talk. I mean to put yourself in this position and offer that poor of a defense for yourself, it really kind of blows my mind. It's fiance also is getting a pastor. She's just as terrible as he is for allowing him to do that to his kid. I mean, he's three years old. If you have ever raised a three year old, the idea that you would put on boxing gloves and hit him is just it's it's it's honestly crazy. And so I just I can't believe that Tyreek Hill is this bad at offering any kind of defense of himself. And when you use you know what I'm saying twenty seven times in a two minute statement, it makes what you're saying sound one ridiculous but two artificial to me, because you should be I mean, just think about this. Is this boggles my mind that he could be this bad talking about this incident. You should be so excited at finally being able to tell your side of the story that you want to do it in the right way. If you have any sintilla of intelligence, or anyone with any sintilla of intelligence is advising you you should show up in a suit, sit down outside of practice, because you're probably not gonna do your best speaking while you're sweaty, having just pract just standing on the sideline while there's horns and jugs machines going off in the background, You're probably not going to do a great job of it. So the idea that you finally have an opportunity to reject and repudiate and combat all of the things that are negative that have been said about you, and this is the way that you uh that you choose to respond. I think we also have audio of tyreek Hill being asked specifically about this incident, and instead of addressing the question, he wants to know who the person is who's asking the question with Andy Reid, since since then I thought made its relating. What do you mean? He said? And he said that he didn't talk to him much once you were able to talk to him again, I mean, what in the what in the world is tyreek Hill doing? And what are the chiefs thinking having a press conference like this? Did they not prepare him at all? Do they have a pr staff? Did they think that this went well? Does tyreek Hill think this is the way that he wants to address this issue going forward? I just I am just baffled by how awful this was. Think about what you would want to do if you were accused of child abuse, and it's probably the exact opposite of what Tyreek Hill just did, which is basically admit that he likes to hit his kid, but it's okay because they're training as boxers. What an idiot? Be sure to catch live editions about kick the coverage with Clay Travis week days at six am Eastern three am Pacific. We go all the way across the country to uh Oxnard, California, where Alex Marvez is up early with us. You can follow him on Twitter at Alex Marvez. He's there for the Dallas Cowboy training camp. Will get an update on Ezekiel Elliott shortly. But first, did you watch the Tyree Hill media availability Alex uh that he had just read? I just read. I'm not a visual person. Just read. Okay. It sounds probably worse than it reads, because I'm sure they cleaned up some of the some of the audio. He talked for like two and a half minutes. He used the phrase you know what I'm saying twenty seven times. We just did a count on it. And it also is, in our opinion, or at least my opinion, absurd that he would do this in a dry fit shirt with the porns going off right after practice with the jugs machine in the background. Don't you have to, given the five months that Tyreek Hill has gone through and put the Chiefs through, have to address these allegations in a more substantive manner than just to show up in a dry fit on the side of the field and talk for two minutes. Well, that depends upon who you're looking at this from. I mean, it doesn't seem to affect the Kansas City Chiefs fan base that has had record attendance, well, because they'll defend I mean, look, if Tyreek Hill was charged with murder, they would say, well, he deserves he deserves an opportunity to defend himself because he's good at football, right. I mean that's the truth. Fans are sociopathic and a moral when it comes to if somebody makes it more likely they're gonna win a game, right absolutely, And that's why I think, Look, would you also put this in the middle of a Sunday afternoon if you're trying to, you know, get this out in the news cycle and try to rehabilitate Tyreek Kill's image. I mean, look, you put something out in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. What does that tell you right about how they're trying to handle it. They try to make it for the cheer and from a chief standpoint, play you know the media better than anybody how it works. They put the guy out there on a very low volume type of news cycle, you know, period of their training camp, and try to make it look as normal as possible as Oh, yeah, it's just a player who's addressing the media, and you know it's just your typical post practice interview type of setting, even though we all know that it wasn't. And I think from a chief standpoint, they're trying to minimize this and not draw its nine and say at two pm Monday, Tyree Hill will address the media inside the stadium. You see what I mean. I mean, there's just there, lady that you know to have him come out and coached and move on. If you're Tyreek Hill, though, after five months, don't you want to actually be able to address this. You've been accused of child abuse, which is one of the worst things you can accuse anybody of. And I just don't understand how he was this bad responding and talking to people. After five months to think about this, I'm not sure, Tyreek Hill is the sharpest tool in the gardening shed if you understand what I'm saying. I don't know how much he's capable of verbalizing the you know his feelings on this matter. I think too and and play Where it's going to get interesting with Tyreek Hill. It's not this interview. This is an interview that's obviously coached by the media relations department, right, talking points and thinks about how he's going to turn his life around and thinks are going to be better all that. What happens an interview number three or interview number four when he's away from the facility, does he open himself up and say things to someone else that makes you scratch your head a little bit and say, what is this guy really serious about this? I mean, is he really someone that you know is saying that I didn't do anything like this? Or is he blaming others? You see where I'm going with this, Like, is this the true closing of this chapter in the life of Tyreek Hill. I'm gonna be curious to find out. What do you think about the defense of the The reason why I was hitting my son was we put on He's three, By the way, was we put on boxing gloves and that's how that happened. It's so bizarre it almost sounds true. And you know what I mean like that that now his son is into superheroes and things like this because they're sitting there and there hitting on, you know, hitting each other like that is the way that Tyreek Hill tried to play, like course, play right and without being there. I don't know, I don't you know. That's that's the tough part about all this play. I don't know how the man lives his life. He said, they have boxing gloves and they put on boxing gloves and hit each other, right, And that's and you know what I mean, are we sitting there with Kyreek Hill pounding his son? If you horsing around with him, does he is that? You know, that's the whole thing that's tough about this. And you know, I'll get when your son suffers a broken arm and you hear him making threats against his actuallyance, I mean, that makes you say, is this man just completely psychotic and off the rails? And why is he even allowed on the streets? Why is he even employed by the Kansas City chiefs? Clearly they aren't worried about it. All Right, let's leave behind Tyreek Hill. You're out in California, Europe early. What in the world's gonna happen with Ezekiel Elliott? Uh? This one could take a while, and I think the Cowboys at some point are gonna probably start looking at the veteran running backs and seeing is there someone out there in case this guy is gonna hold out for the long haul that we can you know, get by piecemeal with until he ultimately goes decide to play football again. I don't think they have much of a choice in that. I mean, you know, look the type of money that he wants. There are three running backs in the NFL that have contracts at average more than ten million dollars a season, And I can understand where he's coming from, wanting to be the highest paid running back in the NFL. And you know, talking Todd Gurley, who is who's got that type of deal. And I can't say that he doesn't in it on the field. We all know off the field a lot of Dallas Cowboys might be redicon to make this type of play. You also are getting to a point that this is such a top heavy organization salary wise, who do you cut, who do you get rid of to be able to fit in? Z Kelliott? And so I think just from from being around the people at this camp, I think that you know, it's just camp. It's like with Melvin Gordon. It's like with you know, these holdouts, you know, you get it. You practice until you know they're not playing games. Yet they're not. They don't count in the win loss column, so you just keep moving on. And you figured the guys can show up in shape, he knows the offense and don't just hit the ground running when he ultimately gets there. But as time goes on, if this thing continues, I don't expect the Cowboys to just stand pack with what they have. I think that they're gonna look a veteran bringing in a veteran running back who's out there and you know we'll see too. I mean, what happens up in Buffalo. I mean, is our point with with Shady McCoy. Now that Devin Singletary is get the third round pick out of f a U is getting snaps, Is is King a potential trade target for somebody? I mean, I don't know, you know, it's just an interesting thing because Shady McCoy may become an option for a running back knee the team out there. But at the end of the day, you know, you have to have some leverage with z Kelly at yourself, right you have to do something that makes you say, look, the Cowboys aren't budging. I got to come in and play this year. Then we'll fall contract in. Could this be a Levian Bell type situation? I know it's not a franchise situation like with Levan Bell, but is it possible that this could accelerate and extend and Zekiel Elliott misses actual games or do you think it's something where it eventually he shows up even if nothing gets resolved. It's I think he has to ultimately show up. But I thought that would Levy on Bell as well. But in this case with Bell, he wasn't under contract and it was under his purview of when he was going to show up. As long as he showed up with six games regaining in the regular season, he'd get that accrued year towards free agency. But I think that there is a little bit of a lasting, you know, impact on the from Levy on Bell and again d Kelly, it is under contract. There are things that happened, and you know, the longer he holds out that the worst it is as far as his leverage with the Cowboys, Like if he doesn't show up by August six, for example, they play a year of his contract gets told towards free agency. So again, it gives the Cowboys more leverage if we're talking to five you do here. But at the end of the day, I think Kelly and his representatives say this, So, what's the worst case scenario of us holding out beside losing money? What are the Cowboys gonna do? Are they gonna go after pass the money? Are they gonna take me to court? Is that going to get me back on the field to play football for them? No? So I think that it's you know, you're just you're playing this this game of chicken. But I still don't see how ze Gelliot end up getting that contract. I also don't know too. And it's a case with Melvin Gordon. What are your options are if you if this team wanted to move on in the trade scenario, where would you even be able to send them to who has the type of money jobs to sign him to a contract? You know, this is the thing too, like with Gordon, these players aren't really exactly using their leverage at the right time. This is the thing that you bring up in late February early March that I'm not showing up the training camp until i get a new contract and make it very clear and simple to the team and let them have the option then of training you to a team that can extend your contract, or you decide as an organization, like the Seahawks did with Russell Wilson and his death line, that they were going to get something done. You know, as as you know, a year goes on and I know in the case of Russell he was going to become a free asient at the end of the season. But the same thing with Alvin Gordon. Why don't your agent saying that I mean to announce this and meet to late July and decide that you're not going to show up to camp because you're unhappy to your contract a little bit shortsighted, To be honest with you, it's shortsighted. It's also you're trying to bargain from a position and literally a position on the field that isn't very valued right now. And I would think it's even more the case. You know, can talk about Todd Gurley's contract. I think there's gotta be a lot of people around the NFL looking at Todd Gurley's contract and saying, man, the Rams may have really painted themselves into a corner here if Gurley's knee is truly arthritic, and if he's truly going to have issues going forward. Moreover, look at what happened when James Conner stepped in for Levian Bell. Look at what happened when uh C J Anderson came in for Todd Gurley. There just isn't that much difference between a really good running back in the NFL and a decent run back in the NFL. And from a dollars and cents perspective, I think there are a lot of teams out there making that decision. Would anybody even be willing to trade and give big money to these guys? Right? I mean, and you know the shelf plus of a running back, how many of them remain great? Year six? Year seven? Was not committing yourself too, right? I Mean, that's the thing. It's a young person's position. And you talk about the injury rate, you're absolutely right now in the case of the Dallas Cowboys. You don't want to waste a year when you have a team that's been in tenting with the Chargers. And this is where the player has a bit of an advantage, right. C. Kelliott is extremely valuable to the Dallas Cowboys. He's will touches the football more than four hundred times a year for your team. It's not like some teams like you know, the Philadelphi Eagles, for example, where the running back position, you know, you trade for Jordan Howard, you use a second round pick on mile standards, but you rotate a bunch of guys in and out. There's no Bell cow running back for the Cowboys. With Zeke Elly, who touched the football more than anyone else in the NFL last season, it is a valuable position. And I think too that the Cowboys would be willing to do a contract extension. But let's not forget to that Kelly hat pulled himself in the position either, and I don't think he wants to hear it. But by the way that he acted off the field this season and getting calls with the Commissioner's office to talk about an incident at the music festival, let alone. Whatever else we don't know the team security knows about cz Elliott and what he's living in his life. I mean, I can understand the reticence of the Dallas cowboysn't giving this deal done. But you know, one thing you think about two week one comes around the Dallas Cowboy zona Zke Elliott on the field. How are they replacing him in their offense? And for the long haul? Is this Cowboys team good enough without Zeke Elliott to do anything until you know, as far as a playoff run and making a Super Bowl in two thousand nineteen, without him, I don't think the Cowboys have the opportunity to get there. We're talking to Alex Marvez. He's out in ox Neard, California, at the Dallas Cowboy training facility there as NFL training camps have begun officially for all thirty two NFL teams, and we're already starting to get, unfortunately, some injury news. What are you hearing about A. J. Green and his injury with the Bengals. Well, he's having another assessment of his flip today at the second opinion. Know, as you saw the reporting out there about him habit a miss potentially six to eight weeks with an ankle injury, and you we talk about contract situations and this will be something else that the representatives of Zeke Elliott and Melvin Gordon point out. You know, a J. Green is in the final year of his contract and he wants to get paid, and there's sort of the we're all waiting for this one domino to fall. As far as these wide receivers and contracts extensions. For example, once Michael Thomas, if his deal gets done with the Saints and it sets the high water market like let's say eighteen point five million dollars a year for a wide receiver, well you know that a J. Green is gonna want eighteen million, five hundred thousand and one dollars at my point, and then Julio Jones his contract, all those things go together. So in the case of a J. Green who take the leap of faith with the Bengals and going into the final year of his deal and think I'm okay with everything, We'll just continue to negotiate and get it worked out, and then the guy get hurt gets hurt. Well, I think it's gonna say that it's gonna just further in trench Melvin Gordon and Sink Elliott in their way of thinking. You know, I'm not stepping out on the field again until I get paid. So, you know, for the Bengals, it's it's been already a disastrous type of situation. Left tackle, left guard goes artists. You know, projected starters for two thousand nineteen already gone for the year, one because of injury, one because of retirement. And they're just they're the Bengals. There's still, you know, a long way to go before this team moves back even towards respectability. It's amazing how the team that Marvin Lewis took from the Dark Ages to respectability went back into the dark Ages by the time he was done coaching. There. Uh Taylor of the one and Golden Tate both potentially gonna miss games for performance enhancing drug suspensions. What are you hearing discussion for both those cases? Any hope for either guy to not miss games? And Clay you listen, it is very hard to win a PD suspension, you know, over you know, overturned a suspension, and you know, in the case of Golden Tate, he's claiming those fertility drugs prescribed by a doctor. I mean, look, you it's elevated levels of testosterone. I don't really know what else to say. And that's flying to test. We have Benjamin Watson the same thing. He had retired from the NFL, wanted to start a family and decided that this was a therapy that was prescribed him, and it jacked up as level as a testosterone. He decides to play again and get tested for a p D and he's done, right, I mean, and now he's got to miss four games. It's look, the whole thing with supplements and once you put in your body play, it is so messy because you know, there's even things I've heard of a team that had multiple suspensions of players taking stuff from the facility. You know that was supposed to be NFL n f L p A approved, but there you know, the FDA, a Federal Food and rec Administration, they don't test these supplements. It's it's like basically caveat int or take it to your own risk. So if the supplement company is adding some chemicals in there that cause a positive and they're not telling people that the stuff is in the supplement, it can cause people to test positive. But play, let's be real here and listen, I don't Maybe in the case of Golden Tape, maybe in the case of Taylor Lawan, they're completely innocent and they had no idea they were putting this in their body. But in a in a sports competitive as the NFL, with high many contracts, with having to perform at a high level, that's trying to get paid, are there you of reasons that you may want to cheat and try to get a competitive edge over your competitor to be able to collect money. UM, I think you know the answer to that. All right, let's Uh. Baker Mayfield is obviously getting a ton of attention. We're talking to Alex Marvez. He's out in ox Star, California, getting ready for the Dallas Cowboy camp. Uh. We obviously have a Baker Mayfield just obsession so far in the NFL with everything surrounding him. But I'm kind of fascinated by Baker Mayfield as it compares to Sam Donald. We've heard almost nothing from Sam Donald. Uh coming into this season. Sam Donald also finished his rookie year looking pretty decent and having some pretty solid performances in games. Would you is it possible that Sam Donald is going to be the best performing second year player in the NFL. Would you buy into that as a viable option? And and have we ever seen really a more divergent path in terms of Baker Mayfield. Everything is all about the media and all about the attention Sam Donald. You're hearing all the is nothing despite the fact that Donald is in New York, which is a market usually where there's a lot more media attention. And look, Baker's in Cleveland, which isn't exactly the center of the media universe, right it is. It is a really weird juxtaposition, right, and it makes you wonder what if Baker may prid would have ended up in New York and you know, basically the world that the internet would have exploded and it would all be over for us, right, But it's that he obviously, you're right, Baker is you know, very out there, very public, very different type of personality, very demonstrated. For example everything and plus everything that he does is going to be viewed and blown up under a microscope. So him yelling at his wide receivers to play better becomes a big story, you know, this past weekend because Baker Mayfield showing the leadership, you know, that's the media narrative, we got there. But you're right about saying Donald sort of sneaky under the radar type of development going into a second season. I just look at the track record under Adam Gaze and how he is, what he has done with quarterbacks. He actually got something out of Jay Cutler a couple of years ago in Chicago. Peyton Manning ended his career playing under Adam Gates, you know, back in team when his offense was clicking, they put up you know, I believe, close to six hundred points, I mean, which is just incredible. They were an absolute machine, but for ultimately losing in Super Bowl forty eight. And he got some good play out of Ryan tanney Hill as well. So I think when you have a you know, the key now for the Jets is hopefully Games doesn't employed again like he did in Miami, and you're able to keep him working for the next couple of seasons. With Sam Donald, provide that stability, he could be awfull the good. I will say this so that the supporting cast of Davin some will in Cleveland. For right now, it's it's just better know what you have with the Jets, and that's that's where you know, true franchise quarterbacks, like what you saw with Andrew Luck last year, lazy, you know the game of some of his wide receivers outside of Eric ebron And and Kep hy Hilton and me. That's what the franchise quarterback does, right, makes average players look like pretty good players. Well that's what Sam Dronaland's gonna have to do this year with the Jets because outside of Robby Anderson, who just isn't all that you know, la beyond Bell obviously, it just isn't all that much that scared you on that Rochster good stuff is always have a good time out there covering the Cowboys. Talk to you next week. Thank you, Flex It's it's out kicked the coverage with Clay Travis. Welcome back, Geiko, out Kick Studios. Hope all of you are having fantastic starts to your week. Monday edition Outcake the coverage Rejoice Football officially back Thursday, we got the first game between the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons. I think most of you are going to enjoy that in a big way. Um and uh we'll be breaking uh that down for you certainly as the week continues the big drama. I would say from training camp so far A J. Green injured, the Bengals are gonna be awful. You have to think this is the end of Andy Dalton and the Bengals would vault all the way up to the top of the list in the to UH sweepstakes. To talk about Loa obviously will be a pretty high draft pick coming out of Alabama. And then we're still a year away from Trevor Lawrence being the overall number one pick in the draft, which will happen in two Yes, it's hard to keep up the years. He got a Foard ahead. So Trevor Lawrence number one overall draft pick in one Justin Herbert and to a talk of Iloa, I would think would be at the very top of the list in UH in the next year's draft, And right now I would put the Bengals in as the favorite to be drafting way up at the top of that list. A J. Green now out with significant UH injury to his ankle, although he's getting a second report, could be out six d eight weeks UM and that would obviously take him well into the far start of the season. He would not be there for week one for the Cincinnati Bengals at minimum, and maybe multiple weeks after that as well. Uh, the hold doubts continue for both the Melvin Gordon with the l A Chargers and also with as you just heard Alex Marvez breaking it down from the Dallas Cowboy facilities with Ezekiel Elliott for the Cowboys um and Tyree Hill finally addressing all of his issues and doing an incredibly awful job of it, to say the least. But in addition to that, we also have one of the craziest things I've seen in a long time. Uh, if your kids or anything like mine, they play a substantial amount of Fortnite. Fortnite the multiplayer video game basically a Battle Royal style Hunger Games esque, a hundred people at once, all play, somebody wins, and they had an incredible price package for whoever was able to emerge as the champion of the World Cup of Fortnite. In fact, that champ, who turned out to be a sixteen year old kid, won three million dollars and they played it at Arthur Ashe Stadium, And that three million dollars is more than the champion of Wimbledon gets. It's more than the champion of the n D five hundred, and it's more than whoever wins the Masters. That is pretty wild to put in perspective how much money was at play and at stake, and the crowds on these were absolutely massive. And I think this is gonna be one of these things where I feel like an old man. But the audience to watch video game being video games being played, I think it's going to continue to grow in a pretty massive number as things continue down the line here and three million dollars for the champ of Fortnite makes it tougher if you're a parent who says, you know what, you need to put down that video control, You're never gonna make any money doing it. Kids these days, who were really expect extraordinary at video games are making a ton of money because they're streaming their games and everybody watches them play. And it's almost like you never hear a parent say, hey, put down that basketball, or at least not very common, hey put down that baseball video game controller, leading to people becoming millionaires. It's blowing my mind. Danny g. Can you imagine if when we were kids we'd had this argument. One day, I'm gonna make millions of dollars playing this game. A sixteen year old kid one, Yeah, it's crazy. Kyle what was his last name, Gersdorff, six teen of Pennsylvania. He uh took that three million dollars home. And this started several years back when Twitch became a phenomenon in our country where kids could play video games didn't get paid, like you said. And I know the reason why a lot of kids watches because they're trying to learn how to play these games. And I get that. But when we were kids, we asked our friends how to get the sword in Zelda, and when we did it by trial and error, we didn't watch other people play to learn how to play it. But a bit better if we've been able to watch other That guy Ninja, who was insanely popular, I mean he's gonna make like fifteen or twenty million dollars crazy, I mean he's wrapped by c A A Like they fought to get him, one of the biggest talent agencies in the world to be able to get him because they're like, there's so much money to be made with this guy. And so this this kid who made three million dollars on Fortnite, I would think he'll make millions and millions of dollars more by being the global Fortnite champion. Now. I know there's always the next game that's gonna come up, and there's always something new to come out and then knock something else off the top of the charts, but this is wild. I mean to me, it's kind of a transformative moment when you take a record scratch moment anyway, and you think, my god, this guy, this Fortnite kid, made more money playing his video game than Ed than Brooks Kepka did winning the Masters this year. I might have to quit the show. Brooks win the Masters, Yeah, you might have to quit the show and go pro and video games. You're too old. I don't think your reflexes are good enough anymore. It's a kid's game. When does Kyle get to, you know, dip into that money though? Does he have to wait until he's eighteen? I don't know. I mean, he's sixteen. I would think he probably gets to dip into it pretty fast, not very long. I don't know how the how the payment works, but three million dollars, my god, that's absolutely insane.
