00:01:26.079 --> 00:01:27.400
I'm Jamie and I'm John.
32
00:01:27.760 --> 00:01:33.200
This is true crime cast.
33
00:01:35.640 --> 00:01:38.959
This case continues to haunt me because Brooklyn was a
34
00:01:38.959 --> 00:01:42.840
beautiful girl. She had just graduated high school. But this
35
00:01:42.959 --> 00:01:45.200
case is very close to home. It happened in the
36
00:01:45.239 --> 00:01:48.519
town that you and I live in. It happened to
37
00:01:48.640 --> 00:01:51.000
a girl who graduated from a high school that our
38
00:01:51.079 --> 00:01:55.159
children attend. This one is so close to home, and
39
00:01:55.760 --> 00:01:59.120
I feel like justice is within reach. We just need
40
00:01:59.159 --> 00:02:01.280
to help bring aware to this case. Yeah.
41
00:02:01.280 --> 00:02:05.120
That's the thing for me is that justice seems it
42
00:02:05.200 --> 00:02:08.759
seems very very close, but in the last several years,
43
00:02:08.759 --> 00:02:12.439
we've seemed to get no closer to it. So hopefully
44
00:02:13.039 --> 00:02:16.960
other podcasters, ourselves, other storytellers getting this out there will
45
00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:20.120
help to get things moving back in the right direction.
46
00:02:20.240 --> 00:02:22.400
But why don't you get us rolling telling the story?
47
00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:25.240
Yeah? Man, this one is very near and dear to
48
00:02:25.280 --> 00:02:28.000
our heart. So let's dig into it, So we're going
49
00:02:28.039 --> 00:02:34.599
to be talking about Brooklyn Farthing. She was only eighteen
50
00:02:34.680 --> 00:02:38.199
years old. Her friends called her brook And although I
51
00:02:38.280 --> 00:02:41.400
did not have the chance to personally know brook I'm
52
00:02:41.520 --> 00:02:44.120
going to call her brook because I know a lot
53
00:02:44.120 --> 00:02:47.639
of people who knew Brooklyn, and she was just everybody
54
00:02:47.639 --> 00:02:49.800
that I spoke to said the same thing. She was beautiful,
55
00:02:49.879 --> 00:02:53.159
she was kind hearted. She was just a laid back
56
00:02:53.240 --> 00:02:56.599
country girl. So she was eighteen years old. She was
57
00:02:56.639 --> 00:03:00.280
from a small town in central Kentucky called Berea that's
58
00:03:00.319 --> 00:03:03.719
in Madison County. All of her friends that I have
59
00:03:03.840 --> 00:03:06.960
seen that have posted about her on Facebook or spoken
60
00:03:07.080 --> 00:03:11.599
about her, have said nothing but great things. She was
61
00:03:11.719 --> 00:03:13.719
very caring, she was always up for a good time.
62
00:03:13.800 --> 00:03:17.039
She was very close with her family. She loved hanging
63
00:03:17.039 --> 00:03:18.800
out with her friends. I mean, she was just a
64
00:03:18.840 --> 00:03:23.080
typical eighteen year old. One report that I read stated
65
00:03:23.120 --> 00:03:24.919
she was a bit of a tomboy. She was not
66
00:03:25.080 --> 00:03:27.800
afraid to be a girly girl on dress up. But
67
00:03:27.879 --> 00:03:29.960
she was also the kind of girl to go hunting
68
00:03:30.120 --> 00:03:33.719
and fishing. I mean, honestly, as I describe her, my
69
00:03:33.840 --> 00:03:36.960
daughter's younger than Brooklyn was, but that's that's my daughter.
70
00:03:37.080 --> 00:03:40.039
She would go hunting. She would set in a blind
71
00:03:40.080 --> 00:03:41.919
with me, but she would also dress up and do
72
00:03:41.960 --> 00:03:46.000
her nails. That's exactly who Brooke was. Brooke had spent
73
00:03:46.159 --> 00:03:50.280
June twenty first, twenty thirteen, attending a member a family
74
00:03:50.360 --> 00:03:53.680
member's birthday party, and after that party, she and her
75
00:03:53.680 --> 00:03:57.280
friends went to another party. And this was considered a
76
00:03:57.319 --> 00:03:59.919
field party. If you're not familiar with this, maybe you
77
00:04:00.080 --> 00:04:03.199
don't live in the South. This is basically a party
78
00:04:03.280 --> 00:04:06.080
that happens in a field. It's pretty original.
79
00:04:05.719 --> 00:04:08.960
Right, Yeah, it's not rocket science to figure that one out,
80
00:04:09.039 --> 00:04:10.199
but it is. I mean, there are a lot of
81
00:04:10.240 --> 00:04:14.000
open fields, there's usually a fire somewhere in the middle,
82
00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:15.639
a lot of people sitting in the back of trucks.
83
00:04:15.800 --> 00:04:19.120
Yeah, it's just a shindig outside. And this was in
84
00:04:19.160 --> 00:04:21.560
a field just outside of Borea. This was kind of
85
00:04:21.639 --> 00:04:24.639
located in the county area, kind of out in the
86
00:04:24.680 --> 00:04:27.480
middle of nowhere, but not too far from town, probably
87
00:04:27.519 --> 00:04:29.959
a ten or fifteen minute drive back in the town.
88
00:04:30.600 --> 00:04:33.600
And this would have been around eight or nine pm
89
00:04:33.680 --> 00:04:34.959
on the twenty first.
90
00:04:35.240 --> 00:04:38.160
Yeah, that was in June of twenty thirteen, so just
91
00:04:38.160 --> 00:04:41.279
a little bit over twelve years ago. And It's in
92
00:04:41.279 --> 00:04:45.120
the middle of the summer, so being out in a field,
93
00:04:45.199 --> 00:04:48.079
being outside till late late in the night, it's really
94
00:04:48.120 --> 00:04:51.560
not a big deal. It's pretty common, actually, So we
95
00:04:51.639 --> 00:04:54.199
know she went over to that field party and then
96
00:04:54.240 --> 00:04:57.600
brook went missing sometime after four am the next morning.
97
00:04:58.399 --> 00:05:01.720
Her family has not heard any anything from her since then,
98
00:05:02.399 --> 00:05:05.279
and they have no answers as to what happened to her.
99
00:05:06.079 --> 00:05:09.480
There are so many rumors in that community in Madison County,
100
00:05:09.560 --> 00:05:12.439
Kentucky about what happened, but to this day there have
101
00:05:12.480 --> 00:05:17.120
been no arrests and no answers for this grieving family.
102
00:05:17.279 --> 00:05:20.319
So we do know a lot about what happened that night,
103
00:05:20.360 --> 00:05:22.720
such as who she was with and the last people
104
00:05:22.759 --> 00:05:26.399
to see her, and kind of what happened before authorities arrived.
105
00:05:26.399 --> 00:05:28.279
So John, wy'n't you get us into some of that?
106
00:05:28.879 --> 00:05:31.879
Yeah, The Richmond Register laid out kind of a series
107
00:05:31.879 --> 00:05:35.720
of events that walk us through the whole day and
108
00:05:35.920 --> 00:05:38.720
night in question. And this was actually kind of put
109
00:05:38.759 --> 00:05:42.720
together by using an interview with her sister Page. So
110
00:05:43.560 --> 00:05:46.839
on the on June twenty first, twenty thirteen, that morning,
111
00:05:46.920 --> 00:05:50.160
Brooklyn and her sister Page had each went to take
112
00:05:50.199 --> 00:05:53.800
their driver's license test they went together. Brooklyn ended up
113
00:05:53.839 --> 00:05:57.519
passing that test. The page did not, and that became
114
00:05:57.879 --> 00:06:01.240
a running joke in the family that day, and honestly,
115
00:06:01.279 --> 00:06:04.199
if the night had not have went how it would
116
00:06:04.199 --> 00:06:06.759
have or how it ended up going, that could have
117
00:06:06.839 --> 00:06:10.360
continued to be a laugh. Now. That night, the girls,
118
00:06:10.439 --> 00:06:13.519
along with their family all went to the seventieth birthday
119
00:06:13.560 --> 00:06:17.279
party of their papa. He had been pretty sick and
120
00:06:17.319 --> 00:06:20.639
they were really excited to celebrate with him that he
121
00:06:20.680 --> 00:06:24.120
had another year with the family. So that's where Brooklyn went.
122
00:06:24.680 --> 00:06:28.240
So they all got together for that and afterwards they went,
123
00:06:28.480 --> 00:06:30.720
like we had mentioned, to a field party in an
124
00:06:30.759 --> 00:06:34.040
area called Red Lick and that was on red Lick Road.
125
00:06:34.680 --> 00:06:37.199
So that's a little confusing, but the whole area is
126
00:06:37.199 --> 00:06:39.319
called Red Lick and there's one road in and out
127
00:06:39.360 --> 00:06:42.279
and that's Red Lick Road. And they had went with
128
00:06:42.600 --> 00:06:46.000
one of their cousins and between seven and eight pm,
129
00:06:46.120 --> 00:06:50.279
Paige and the cousin decided to leave Brooklyn, and that
130
00:06:50.439 --> 00:06:53.160
was they had kind of spoken at the party and
131
00:06:53.160 --> 00:06:56.160
made a plan. So she was actually going to stay
132
00:06:56.199 --> 00:06:58.360
with a friend that night who was at the party
133
00:06:58.399 --> 00:07:01.920
as well, so she had to actually packed an overnight bag.
134
00:07:03.079 --> 00:07:06.279
Brook's friend Tasha is the one that told a lot
135
00:07:06.319 --> 00:07:10.160
of this to the Richmond Register. She said that Brooke
136
00:07:10.279 --> 00:07:12.759
was friends with most of the people at this party.
137
00:07:12.839 --> 00:07:16.399
They had grown up in that area throughout their high
138
00:07:16.399 --> 00:07:20.399
school years. But that night something went wrong with the
139
00:07:20.439 --> 00:07:22.879
plans that Brooke had. Like you said, she was supposed
140
00:07:22.879 --> 00:07:25.639
to spend the night with a friend. She had packed
141
00:07:25.639 --> 00:07:29.279
an overnight bag, but at some point during the evening
142
00:07:29.360 --> 00:07:33.959
they got in some kind of argument which shifted those plans.
143
00:07:34.040 --> 00:07:35.480
We don't really know what it was over.
144
00:07:35.600 --> 00:07:39.480
There's again speculation about everything here, but we don't need
145
00:07:39.519 --> 00:07:42.879
to dive into that. Whatever it was, Brooke wasn't comfortable
146
00:07:42.959 --> 00:07:45.600
with the situation, so she decided to stay at the
147
00:07:45.639 --> 00:07:49.959
party after her friends left. Now, as the party was ending,
148
00:07:50.160 --> 00:07:53.839
witnesses saw Brook catch up to two young men and
149
00:07:53.879 --> 00:07:57.240
ask them for a ride. And this is one of
150
00:07:57.279 --> 00:08:01.079
the bigger points I think that comes up for debate.
151
00:08:01.839 --> 00:08:04.959
The names haven't been publicly released, but everybody kind of
152
00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:08.160
knows who they are, the two guys that she left
153
00:08:08.160 --> 00:08:11.199
the party. With a quick Google search and you can
154
00:08:11.240 --> 00:08:12.480
find it for sure.
155
00:08:13.439 --> 00:08:13.600
Now.
156
00:08:13.639 --> 00:08:17.639
They drove out to an area Beria called Floyd's Branch,
157
00:08:17.759 --> 00:08:20.639
road a lot of branches and licks throughout this story
158
00:08:20.680 --> 00:08:24.800
because that's the area that the Maria is. But allegedly
159
00:08:24.879 --> 00:08:27.720
they drove over there and they were going to go
160
00:08:27.759 --> 00:08:29.240
out to a farm and try to look at some
161
00:08:29.360 --> 00:08:34.039
horses and kind of check those out. And then they
162
00:08:34.080 --> 00:08:37.440
had planned or at least promised to take her home
163
00:08:37.559 --> 00:08:42.039
or drop her off, but one of the drivers dropped
164
00:08:42.039 --> 00:08:45.480
her off in a house and left Brook alone with
165
00:08:45.600 --> 00:08:49.919
the other man. And it's reported that this happened on
166
00:08:50.120 --> 00:08:54.600
Dylan Court in Berea. Now that home at the time
167
00:08:54.840 --> 00:08:58.480
was under foreclosure. There were no utilities on, so essentially
168
00:08:58.519 --> 00:09:03.919
this was just a barn, no electricity, no no heat,
169
00:09:04.039 --> 00:09:06.080
no air. So if you think about it, there's no
170
00:09:06.200 --> 00:09:09.679
running water there and at four am it's going to
171
00:09:09.720 --> 00:09:12.960
be dark. So this is not a comfortable place for
172
00:09:13.000 --> 00:09:14.840
anybody to be. I think, even if you're used to
173
00:09:14.960 --> 00:09:17.279
field parties and being out till the middle of the night,
174
00:09:18.080 --> 00:09:21.120
being in a house with no electricity or water with
175
00:09:21.159 --> 00:09:23.960
somebody you don't know very well at four AM's probably
176
00:09:24.000 --> 00:09:24.919
not very comfortable.
177
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:27.360
Yeah, like you said, she doesn't know this guy very well.
178
00:09:27.559 --> 00:09:29.919
And even if she knew this guy, there at an
179
00:09:29.960 --> 00:09:33.559
odd place It's a home in a small subdivision, but
180
00:09:33.639 --> 00:09:37.759
it's under foreclosure. There's no electricity, no running water. It's
181
00:09:37.799 --> 00:09:41.320
not a very comfortable place to be, especially at four am.
182
00:09:42.120 --> 00:09:45.840
And I just as a dad myself, and you're a dad, like,
183
00:09:45.960 --> 00:09:50.080
this is worst case scenario. Just please be anywhere else
184
00:09:50.159 --> 00:09:53.679
but right where you are at this point, so scary. Now,
185
00:09:53.720 --> 00:09:56.440
Once they were at this house, Brooklyn called page This
186
00:09:56.480 --> 00:09:59.879
is around four am on the morning of June twenty second,
187
00:10:00.639 --> 00:10:02.879
and Brooklyn asked if there was any way that she
188
00:10:02.919 --> 00:10:06.000
could come pick her up. Now it's reported though, that
189
00:10:06.080 --> 00:10:08.600
the cousin that was going to pick brook up, or
190
00:10:09.159 --> 00:10:12.279
that could have picked her up, had been drinking and
191
00:10:12.399 --> 00:10:14.440
just not able to drive at that point. So I
192
00:10:14.519 --> 00:10:17.919
guess in the moment, that seemed like the best decision,
193
00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:21.759
and that's a mature decision, honestly. But now it's reported
194
00:10:21.799 --> 00:10:24.639
that she didn't want her mother to be woken up.
195
00:10:24.679 --> 00:10:27.120
So and remember page At failed her driver's test that day,
196
00:10:27.159 --> 00:10:29.559
so she didn't have a license. You know, she could
197
00:10:29.559 --> 00:10:32.919
have drove illegally and under the influence, but that wasn't
198
00:10:32.919 --> 00:10:35.320
a good idea and I'm glad she didn't. Now it's
199
00:10:35.399 --> 00:10:37.399
reported that she did not want her mother to be
200
00:10:37.440 --> 00:10:40.679
woke up, so she started trying to call some other people,
201
00:10:40.720 --> 00:10:43.879
some other friends, and she was just not able to
202
00:10:43.919 --> 00:10:48.000
find a ride. She did end up texting her ex boyfriend,
203
00:10:48.440 --> 00:10:51.879
which was also her ex fiance. She was actually engaged
204
00:10:51.879 --> 00:10:54.480
at one point at an early age. She asked this
205
00:10:54.519 --> 00:10:56.679
guy to come pick her up. So he was working
206
00:10:56.720 --> 00:10:59.200
a third shift job and he wasn't going to be
207
00:10:59.240 --> 00:11:02.000
able to get off work until six thirty am. I
208
00:11:02.039 --> 00:11:04.320
will tell you, in this area there are a lot
209
00:11:04.360 --> 00:11:07.360
of factories. There's a lot of factory work, and if
210
00:11:07.399 --> 00:11:10.240
you've ever worked in a factory, you'll know you can't
211
00:11:10.279 --> 00:11:12.919
just take off. It's not a very flexible gig. So
212
00:11:13.279 --> 00:11:15.679
if you're there until six thirty when your shift ins,
213
00:11:16.279 --> 00:11:19.360
unless you're dying, that's when you're going to leave. They
214
00:11:19.399 --> 00:11:22.480
don't let you go for anything. But he agreed to
215
00:11:22.480 --> 00:11:25.279
come pick her up once his shift was over. So,
216
00:11:25.360 --> 00:11:27.759
according to her sister that let this report with the
217
00:11:27.759 --> 00:11:30.879
Rerichmond Register, Brooke sounded fine on the phone. There was
218
00:11:30.960 --> 00:11:34.159
really no evidence that she was drunk or most importantly,
219
00:11:34.200 --> 00:11:36.879
that she was scared. At this point. She just sounded
220
00:11:36.919 --> 00:11:39.279
tired and sounded like she was ready to come home,
221
00:11:39.919 --> 00:11:42.639
so that it's getting really late in the morning, and
222
00:11:43.200 --> 00:11:46.320
if you're young, even if you're really young, at some
223
00:11:46.360 --> 00:11:48.720
point you're just ready to be back home and want
224
00:11:48.720 --> 00:11:51.840
to sleep in for the day. Brooke had plans with
225
00:11:51.879 --> 00:11:55.399
her ex boyfriend, which I talked about, and this had
226
00:11:55.399 --> 00:11:59.279
been confirmed through his sister. And at four am, Brook
227
00:11:59.320 --> 00:12:03.360
started sending text to her boyfriend and they were saying
228
00:12:03.399 --> 00:12:06.879
stuff like can you hurry, and then another one, please hurry,
229
00:12:06.879 --> 00:12:10.399
I'm scared. So this is when things start to take
230
00:12:10.440 --> 00:12:13.360
a turn, right, because her sister said she sounded good,
231
00:12:13.559 --> 00:12:17.159
just tired, but now when she's texting her ex boyfriend
232
00:12:17.159 --> 00:12:20.360
ex fiance, things sound like a different tone.
233
00:12:20.440 --> 00:12:22.720
Right, Yeah, it seems like it's getting more and more
234
00:12:22.919 --> 00:12:26.279
urgent for her, which it's obviously in retrospect. It's been
235
00:12:26.399 --> 00:12:28.600
urgent for me since she left for this party. So
236
00:12:29.240 --> 00:12:33.960
she is starting to feel I think that things aren't
237
00:12:34.039 --> 00:12:37.080
right where she is and is in a hurry to leave.
238
00:12:37.679 --> 00:12:42.120
But these texts stopped coming in. She stopped replying to
239
00:12:42.440 --> 00:12:45.360
her ex boyfriend at that time, and he didn't get
240
00:12:45.360 --> 00:12:48.120
anything else back until five thirty am.
241
00:12:48.360 --> 00:12:50.480
So that's like an hour and a half that's gone
242
00:12:50.480 --> 00:12:52.519
by since she started trying to get in touch with
243
00:12:52.600 --> 00:12:55.039
him at four. Yeah, I think about that.
244
00:12:55.039 --> 00:12:57.519
Think about getting a text from somebody that says, please hurry,
245
00:12:57.600 --> 00:12:58.799
I need help, and then I'm.
246
00:12:58.679 --> 00:13:02.679
Scared not replying for an hour. That's horrifying. So he
247
00:13:02.799 --> 00:13:05.960
tried to ask where she was, who she was going
248
00:13:06.000 --> 00:13:08.000
to be with, but he never got a text back.
249
00:13:08.559 --> 00:13:10.840
So this has to be agonizing for him because he
250
00:13:10.879 --> 00:13:13.399
knows he can't get off, he can't leave to help her.
251
00:13:14.000 --> 00:13:15.960
And then all of a sudden, like you said, she stopped.
252
00:13:15.960 --> 00:13:18.919
So the last text that he got was her saying,
253
00:13:19.039 --> 00:13:21.559
never mind, I'm okay, I'm going to a party in
254
00:13:21.639 --> 00:13:25.519
rock Castle County. So after the last text, he then
255
00:13:25.600 --> 00:13:27.960
asked who she was going to be with, and that's
256
00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:31.480
when he didn't get a response again. And it's reported
257
00:13:31.519 --> 00:13:34.240
that he got off work at the normal time six
258
00:13:34.240 --> 00:13:36.879
point thirty and then he was able to just go home.
259
00:13:37.320 --> 00:13:41.039
Yeah, in rock Castle County. If you know anything about Kentucky,
260
00:13:41.120 --> 00:13:44.159
we go by counties for everything. Rock Castle's one of
261
00:13:44.200 --> 00:13:47.039
the closest other counties to us, And if there was
262
00:13:47.120 --> 00:13:49.320
anywhere else around that would have a field party, it
263
00:13:49.360 --> 00:13:52.399
would be rock Castle. But when we get down to it.
264
00:13:53.240 --> 00:13:55.960
People didn't know about this party. Nobody else talked about
265
00:13:55.960 --> 00:13:59.279
a party in rock Castle County. So looking back, its
266
00:13:59.279 --> 00:14:02.720
speculated that whatever happened to Brooks, somebody sent this text
267
00:14:02.720 --> 00:14:06.919
from her phone to get her ex boyfriend off the sentence.
268
00:14:06.679 --> 00:14:10.639
That's always how have you these texts? After she stopped responding.
269
00:14:11.039 --> 00:14:13.279
She actually had plans the next morning to go down
270
00:14:13.320 --> 00:14:16.360
to Somerset, Kentucky to a car show, but of course
271
00:14:16.399 --> 00:14:19.480
she never showed up and she couldn't be reached by phone.
272
00:14:19.559 --> 00:14:21.840
So that's when the people she was supposed to go
273
00:14:21.919 --> 00:14:24.720
with called Page. And it was around two in the afternoon.
274
00:14:25.519 --> 00:14:28.120
And after Page couldn't get a hold of Brooklyn, the
275
00:14:28.200 --> 00:14:30.720
family started calling trying to get a hold of her.
276
00:14:31.120 --> 00:14:33.600
They started searching for they started trying to figure out
277
00:14:33.600 --> 00:14:36.159
who she was with, what happened to her the night before.
278
00:14:36.679 --> 00:14:39.720
Page told the family that Brook's friend had said that
279
00:14:39.759 --> 00:14:42.480
she left with a man from the party that they
280
00:14:42.480 --> 00:14:46.600
were all at together. Now Page knew most of Brooklyn's
281
00:14:46.600 --> 00:14:49.679
friends again, they were similar age and kind of run
282
00:14:49.759 --> 00:14:52.039
the same circles. It's not a big town, but she
283
00:14:52.240 --> 00:14:55.759
didn't know this particular guy, and she said that brook
284
00:14:55.759 --> 00:14:58.480
would have never left with somebody she wasn't comfortable with,
285
00:14:58.600 --> 00:15:01.480
So why would did she leave with this guy? Or
286
00:15:01.519 --> 00:15:05.000
did she know him and she was comfortable with him?
287
00:15:05.440 --> 00:15:08.480
She added, The family believes that maybe she knew him
288
00:15:08.559 --> 00:15:10.919
through her ex, so maybe that was the connection that
289
00:15:11.000 --> 00:15:13.799
led to her having some kind of trust that she
290
00:15:13.840 --> 00:15:16.480
would be okay. And honestly, it depends on who you
291
00:15:16.519 --> 00:15:20.279
ask whether they believed that Brooke knew this guy or not.
292
00:15:21.480 --> 00:15:23.600
A lot of the family didn't think she did, but
293
00:15:23.679 --> 00:15:26.000
some of her friends said she did, so it's it's
294
00:15:26.080 --> 00:15:28.480
kind of up in the air. Paige ended up getting
295
00:15:28.480 --> 00:15:31.039
his phone number, though, and she and her sister Tasha
296
00:15:31.120 --> 00:15:33.639
called the guy, telling him that they couldn't get a
297
00:15:33.639 --> 00:15:35.919
hold of Brooklyn and that they were worried about her.
298
00:15:35.960 --> 00:15:39.320
And he said that, yes, he took her away from
299
00:15:39.320 --> 00:15:41.600
that party. She left the party with him, but then
300
00:15:41.639 --> 00:15:44.080
he took her back to his house, the one that
301
00:15:44.200 --> 00:15:47.080
was without electricity, but he said that he wasn't comfortable
302
00:15:47.159 --> 00:15:50.279
being there with her because he was friends with her ex.
303
00:15:50.360 --> 00:15:52.759
So once he found out that her ex was coming
304
00:15:52.799 --> 00:15:56.120
to pick her up, he said, he took her in
305
00:15:56.120 --> 00:15:58.399
the house and he went and put his horses up
306
00:15:58.440 --> 00:16:00.320
and kind of left her for the ex boy friend
307
00:16:00.360 --> 00:16:02.919
to come get her. Before he left, he said that
308
00:16:03.080 --> 00:16:05.600
nobody had come to get her and that he heard
309
00:16:05.600 --> 00:16:08.799
her talking to somebody about a party in Roecastle County.
310
00:16:09.600 --> 00:16:12.039
But if he wasn't comfortable with being in the house
311
00:16:12.080 --> 00:16:14.360
with her, why would he take her back to the
312
00:16:14.440 --> 00:16:17.360
house in the first place. So already his story is
313
00:16:18.080 --> 00:16:20.399
suspected best And I know you have to go take
314
00:16:20.440 --> 00:16:23.519
care of horses generally, not doing that at four am,
315
00:16:23.639 --> 00:16:24.679
maybe six or seven.
316
00:16:25.320 --> 00:16:27.840
Yeah, I mean, it sounds like this guy's trying to
317
00:16:28.039 --> 00:16:31.960
put distance between he and Brooklyn, stating, yeah, we were
318
00:16:31.960 --> 00:16:34.200
with each other, but we weren't really with each other.
319
00:16:34.240 --> 00:16:36.720
I mean, I was doing chores, she was talking to
320
00:16:36.759 --> 00:16:42.200
somebody else. That just you're trying to minimize the situation,
321
00:16:42.600 --> 00:16:46.000
is my interpretation of that. Completely agree. The right thing
322
00:16:46.039 --> 00:16:48.080
to do there is if you don't feel comfortable having
323
00:16:48.080 --> 00:16:50.080
her at your house, take her to her house, make
324
00:16:50.120 --> 00:16:52.480
sure she's safe, and make sure that you can distance
325
00:16:52.519 --> 00:16:55.919
yourself that way. But he didn't do that. About twenty
326
00:16:55.960 --> 00:16:59.879
minutes after that call with Brooklyn's sister, he actually called
327
00:16:59.879 --> 00:17:02.519
her her back, and this time it said that he
328
00:17:02.600 --> 00:17:06.079
sounded very nervous. So he told Brooklyn's sister that he
329
00:17:06.160 --> 00:17:09.559
was scared, and when the sister asked why he was scared,
330
00:17:09.599 --> 00:17:12.519
he said, well, my house is on fire and all
331
00:17:12.519 --> 00:17:16.640
of Brooklyn's belongings were still inside. He said that when
332
00:17:16.640 --> 00:17:19.160
they came back from putting the horses up, he saw
333
00:17:19.440 --> 00:17:24.000
flames and they ended up calling the fire department. So
334
00:17:24.720 --> 00:17:27.599
he had wondered if maybe she had lit a cigarette
335
00:17:28.119 --> 00:17:30.720
and was smoking it and then it dropped on the couch.
336
00:17:31.400 --> 00:17:33.640
He said that when he left, she was setting on
337
00:17:33.680 --> 00:17:36.880
the couch smoking a cigarette and he wondered if perhaps
338
00:17:36.920 --> 00:17:40.400
that's what caught the couch on fire. So again he
339
00:17:40.440 --> 00:17:43.720
sounded really nervous. He said that he was scared and
340
00:17:43.839 --> 00:17:46.359
noted that all of her belongings were still in the house.
341
00:17:47.200 --> 00:17:50.839
To be clear, the house fire and everything happened that
342
00:17:51.000 --> 00:17:54.079
morning around eight am. So at this phone call at
343
00:17:54.440 --> 00:17:58.079
after two o'clock, when he's talking to her sister, that's
344
00:17:58.119 --> 00:18:00.480
when he's telling her all the stuff to happened. He
345
00:18:00.519 --> 00:18:02.640
didn't tell her the first time. It was when he
346
00:18:02.680 --> 00:18:07.440
called back, So again, just a very odd series of events.
347
00:18:07.720 --> 00:18:09.640
So think about getting that phone call though, if you're
348
00:18:09.720 --> 00:18:12.839
her sister, why would all of her stuff be there
349
00:18:12.880 --> 00:18:15.119
if she wasn't, so you have to imagine that she
350
00:18:15.319 --> 00:18:17.799
is there, and if she is there and the house
351
00:18:17.880 --> 00:18:20.720
is on fire, you have to be afraid that she's
352
00:18:20.759 --> 00:18:24.960
in danger from that, right absolutely. And even if she
353
00:18:25.119 --> 00:18:27.640
did go to another party, then why wouldn't she just
354
00:18:27.720 --> 00:18:30.359
take her stuff to that party. I don't know that
355
00:18:31.200 --> 00:18:33.519
it would be logical to assume that she was going
356
00:18:33.559 --> 00:18:35.839
to go to that party and then come back to
357
00:18:35.920 --> 00:18:38.440
this house with no electricity, to a home that she
358
00:18:38.559 --> 00:18:41.160
didn't know, with a guy she didn't know. It doesn't
359
00:18:41.200 --> 00:18:43.880
make a lot of sense. I also want to be clear, like,
360
00:18:44.359 --> 00:18:47.839
the whole house wasn't on fire, the couch was, and
361
00:18:47.880 --> 00:18:51.319
it was actually drug outside and burning in the front yard,
362
00:18:51.359 --> 00:18:54.960
and that's where firefighters came and put out that fire.
363
00:18:55.559 --> 00:18:58.119
Of Course, I'll speculate at the end what I feel
364
00:18:58.119 --> 00:19:01.839
about that, but it's really odd.
365
00:19:02.039 --> 00:19:04.880
Yeah, not a house fire. Obviously not an electrical fire
366
00:19:04.920 --> 00:19:07.599
because there was no electricity. It did leave a hole
367
00:19:07.640 --> 00:19:10.799
in the floor where the couch had been sitting, but
368
00:19:10.839 --> 00:19:12.599
they were able to come in and get the fire
369
00:19:12.640 --> 00:19:14.319
out and get the couch out of there before it
370
00:19:14.359 --> 00:19:16.960
spread to anything else. Of Course, Tasha didn't know this
371
00:19:17.720 --> 00:19:20.400
when she got the phone call. But all we really
372
00:19:20.440 --> 00:19:24.160
know is that the house burned. When twenty four hours
373
00:19:24.200 --> 00:19:26.519
had passed and Brooklyn's family hadn't heard from her, they
374
00:19:26.559 --> 00:19:30.160
finally filed a police report. Now family and friends went
375
00:19:30.160 --> 00:19:32.480
out to dial In Court to search for themselves. They
376
00:19:32.519 --> 00:19:34.960
knew where the house was, and when they got there
377
00:19:35.240 --> 00:19:38.680
they saw her items saw on the front porch. Among
378
00:19:38.720 --> 00:19:42.119
them were her shoes, the overnight bag she had packed
379
00:19:42.119 --> 00:19:45.759
stayed with a friend, which included clothes and toilet, trees
380
00:19:46.279 --> 00:19:49.720
and other things. The only thing missing was Brooke herself,
381
00:19:49.960 --> 00:19:52.319
the clothes she had been wearing when she went to
382
00:19:52.359 --> 00:19:56.519
the party, and her cell phone. So when the missing
383
00:19:56.559 --> 00:20:00.960
person's reports filed, please start investigating this as a missing person.
384
00:20:01.960 --> 00:20:05.279
So they did a records request for phone records, and
385
00:20:05.319 --> 00:20:07.839
they saw that she had received more than one thousand
386
00:20:07.880 --> 00:20:11.839
phone calls in twenty four hours from people that loved her,
387
00:20:12.000 --> 00:20:15.039
cared about her, and were trying to find her. Starting
388
00:20:15.039 --> 00:20:17.960
that Sunday, after all this had taken place, the Kentucky
389
00:20:18.000 --> 00:20:23.160
State Police started interviewing people that they knew had seen
390
00:20:23.440 --> 00:20:26.440
Brooklyn the night before or that they knew may have
391
00:20:26.559 --> 00:20:30.240
information from this and They did some large scale searches
392
00:20:30.559 --> 00:20:34.880
that week across the Red Lick area that's pretty close
393
00:20:34.920 --> 00:20:37.880
to us John. It's not exactly easy terrain to search.
394
00:20:37.920 --> 00:20:43.000
That are big cliffs, lots of woods, lots of random ponds.
395
00:20:43.079 --> 00:20:45.319
It's just I mean, if you're looking for a place
396
00:20:45.359 --> 00:20:48.119
to search, this is almost the worst case scenario for
397
00:20:49.039 --> 00:20:52.680
a regular part of America. I would say this area
398
00:20:52.720 --> 00:20:56.279
as a whole is relatively flat and easy terrain, but
399
00:20:57.039 --> 00:21:00.480
that area of Red Lick that is the worst terrain
400
00:21:00.640 --> 00:21:03.559
I think in the county. I mean, there's mountains there,
401
00:21:03.640 --> 00:21:07.359
there's cliffs. It is it's really, in my opinion, the
402
00:21:07.440 --> 00:21:10.200
hardest place that you could try to search an area
403
00:21:10.200 --> 00:21:12.640
in this whole county. It ended up being a pretty
404
00:21:12.680 --> 00:21:16.920
massive operation. They had people on horses, they had search dogs,
405
00:21:16.920 --> 00:21:19.759
they had cadets that were going through training. There's a
406
00:21:19.759 --> 00:21:24.720
State Police training facility up in Richmond, and they continued
407
00:21:24.759 --> 00:21:29.960
to search over and over but didn't seem to find
408
00:21:30.160 --> 00:21:33.880
anything as far as that weekend. That's kind of all
409
00:21:33.880 --> 00:21:37.720
we know. We do have access to that in through
410
00:21:37.920 --> 00:21:42.440
interviews that her family has given. These days, they're not
411
00:21:42.519 --> 00:21:46.000
talking as much as they used to, so it's hard
412
00:21:46.039 --> 00:21:48.559
to get any new information at this point, but there
413
00:21:48.559 --> 00:21:51.559
have been a lot of people in Madison County scratching
414
00:21:51.599 --> 00:21:55.160
their heads about this, So let's dig into some of
415
00:21:55.359 --> 00:21:56.720
what may have actually happened.
416
00:21:56.799 --> 00:22:00.319
John, Yeah, man, this is one of those things. Is like,
417
00:22:00.400 --> 00:22:04.119
she took her bag with her to the party, but
418
00:22:04.240 --> 00:22:07.839
then her overnight bag is still on that porch there
419
00:22:07.880 --> 00:22:11.799
on Dylan Court. So if she went somewhere, if she
420
00:22:11.839 --> 00:22:15.640
went to another party, I really think that that bag
421
00:22:15.720 --> 00:22:17.359
and all of her stuff would have been with her
422
00:22:17.400 --> 00:22:20.119
as well. I don't think she because she didn't know
423
00:22:20.200 --> 00:22:22.279
this guy very well. I just can't imagine that she
424
00:22:22.319 --> 00:22:24.720
would leave with the intention of coming back there to
425
00:22:24.759 --> 00:22:27.200
pick up her stuff. I feel like she would have
426
00:22:27.240 --> 00:22:28.480
had her stuff with her.
427
00:22:28.559 --> 00:22:31.200
And none of the interviews ever revealed that there was
428
00:22:31.319 --> 00:22:33.519
actually a party in rock Castle that night, or at
429
00:22:33.559 --> 00:22:36.359
least not one that she would have known about and
430
00:22:36.519 --> 00:22:37.279
was invited to.
431
00:22:38.279 --> 00:22:41.480
So then there at this area of Floyd's Branch, they
432
00:22:41.599 --> 00:22:43.880
drop another guy off at his house and then the
433
00:22:43.920 --> 00:22:46.440
two of them go back to the house on Dylan Court,
434
00:22:47.440 --> 00:22:51.839
and that's when the story begins to just really unravel
435
00:22:51.880 --> 00:22:54.599
for me. She's texting her boyfriend saying that she's scared,
436
00:22:55.440 --> 00:22:57.519
and she texted him a couple of times with those
437
00:22:57.559 --> 00:23:00.720
same frantic messages, but then at some point those stop,
438
00:23:01.279 --> 00:23:05.160
and for over an hour and a half it's silence
439
00:23:05.200 --> 00:23:08.240
from her, and then she responds, finally saying, actually, I'm
440
00:23:08.279 --> 00:23:11.319
going to a party in Rockcastle County. I'm all good,
441
00:23:11.359 --> 00:23:14.000
I don't need to ride. The guy that we know
442
00:23:14.160 --> 00:23:17.880
she's with confirms that she's there, but again puts distance
443
00:23:17.880 --> 00:23:21.079
between the two. He's out doing something with the horses.
444
00:23:21.480 --> 00:23:23.440
Wait a second, I thought you were just with horses
445
00:23:23.440 --> 00:23:25.559
somewhere else, And I don't think this area on Dylan
446
00:23:25.599 --> 00:23:29.759
Court has a farm has horses there, and then there's
447
00:23:29.799 --> 00:23:32.119
a house fire later, Like, this is just a series
448
00:23:32.160 --> 00:23:36.640
of events that makes no sense. So the only logical
449
00:23:36.880 --> 00:23:40.119
solution in my mind, and I know this is possibly
450
00:23:40.200 --> 00:23:44.119
taking a leap, but okay, the only thing destroyed in
451
00:23:44.160 --> 00:23:47.559
this house is a couch. Is it possible that she
452
00:23:47.880 --> 00:23:51.640
was sexually assaulted on this couch burned as a way
453
00:23:51.720 --> 00:23:55.920
to hide evidence, and then she's disappeared because you know,
454
00:23:56.599 --> 00:23:59.000
you did something that you don't want to get arrested for.
455
00:23:59.400 --> 00:24:02.079
That's the only series of events that make sense in
456
00:24:02.119 --> 00:24:04.839
my mind. Yeah, I don't think that's a leaper a
457
00:24:04.920 --> 00:24:08.599
jump at all. I think that does make the most sense.
458
00:24:08.640 --> 00:24:11.680
There is no evidence at all that the fire was
459
00:24:11.720 --> 00:24:15.920
started by a cigarette or buy some type of accident.
460
00:24:15.960 --> 00:24:17.920
They don't know what started it as far as I know.
461
00:24:18.000 --> 00:24:21.559
There was no accelerant, but it was just the couch.
462
00:24:22.359 --> 00:24:25.559
And if it had been something that caught the rest
463
00:24:25.559 --> 00:24:29.359
of the house on fire, maybe you start to question that.
464
00:24:29.640 --> 00:24:33.000
And if the couch catches on fire and she takes off,
465
00:24:33.160 --> 00:24:33.400
is she.
466
00:24:33.359 --> 00:24:36.480
Gonna leave her shoes there? Like, it's no no chance,
467
00:24:36.599 --> 00:24:40.759
especially out in that area. It's everything else just does
468
00:24:40.799 --> 00:24:42.480
not add up.
469
00:24:43.440 --> 00:24:46.400
Let's talk a little bit about the investigation. A lot
470
00:24:46.440 --> 00:24:51.480
of people in Madison County are frustrated because they think
471
00:24:51.559 --> 00:24:54.519
that they know who is responsible for her disappearance. But
472
00:24:55.480 --> 00:24:58.160
at this time, police just don't have what they need
473
00:24:58.880 --> 00:25:02.400
to take this case trial and come out in a
474
00:25:02.440 --> 00:25:05.039
way that doesn't jeopardize the case. Like if you take
475
00:25:05.079 --> 00:25:08.319
it to court you don't have enough evidence and you
476
00:25:08.480 --> 00:25:11.440
get acquitted, you can't go back. You can't file the
477
00:25:11.559 --> 00:25:15.839
same charges. But in regards to the investigation, police have
478
00:25:15.960 --> 00:25:18.799
tried to find some type of party that happened in
479
00:25:18.880 --> 00:25:22.000
rock Castle County that night to see if she may
480
00:25:22.079 --> 00:25:24.279
have actually went to a party, and they've just been
481
00:25:24.359 --> 00:25:27.720
unable to find one. So as far as police are concerned,
482
00:25:27.880 --> 00:25:30.319
there was no other party that she had gone to
483
00:25:30.359 --> 00:25:34.319
that night. Jimmy, I mentioned field parties. It's no secret
484
00:25:34.359 --> 00:25:37.039
I've been to field parties. Usually by four or five
485
00:25:37.039 --> 00:25:41.079
o'clock they're kind of whinding down. So if there was
486
00:25:41.119 --> 00:25:43.720
another party, you would think this would have been something
487
00:25:43.759 --> 00:25:45.839
she would have went to. Wait earlier in the morning.
488
00:25:45.880 --> 00:25:48.880
I don't think many parties are just getting going five
489
00:25:48.960 --> 00:25:50.119
or six o'clock in the morning.
490
00:25:50.480 --> 00:25:52.640
You know, you're exactly right. I think that people at
491
00:25:52.640 --> 00:25:57.000
this point that want to go and be alone. You're
492
00:25:57.000 --> 00:25:59.759
going off with your significant other or whatever. Everybody else
493
00:25:59.839 --> 00:26:02.039
is arting to find a place to crash for the night,
494
00:26:02.119 --> 00:26:04.400
because I don't know, there's a chance if this is
495
00:26:04.440 --> 00:26:06.599
a Friday night, you're gonna party again the next night.
496
00:26:06.640 --> 00:26:07.960
So you got to get a little bit of rest.
497
00:26:08.119 --> 00:26:09.920
And she had plans the next day to go to
498
00:26:09.960 --> 00:26:12.839
Somerset with her family. Now, again that's later in the day,
499
00:26:12.880 --> 00:26:16.960
but I think most teenagers are gonna party until five,
500
00:26:17.079 --> 00:26:19.559
six o'clock in the morning, go home, get some sleep,
501
00:26:19.680 --> 00:26:21.960
be up and ready to go to Somerset. This was
502
00:26:22.000 --> 00:26:24.720
something she was tight knit with her family. I don't
503
00:26:24.720 --> 00:26:26.160
think she would have just blown them off.
504
00:26:26.559 --> 00:26:31.759
Yeah, I completely agree, And yeah, no, I don't think
505
00:26:31.799 --> 00:26:34.039
any of it adds up. I think the change of
506
00:26:34.079 --> 00:26:37.880
tone in the texts in itself is enough for me
507
00:26:38.559 --> 00:26:43.440
to see that something dramatically changed here and that it
508
00:26:43.559 --> 00:26:47.240
wasn't good for Brooklyn. Like we said, a thousand calls
509
00:26:47.279 --> 00:26:50.000
the next day going answered. I mean, we can say
510
00:26:50.039 --> 00:26:51.839
all day that she lit up a room and all
511
00:26:51.880 --> 00:26:54.519
the things you hear on these documentaries, But I do
512
00:26:54.559 --> 00:26:58.200
think that speaks for itself. People loved her, people cared
513
00:26:58.200 --> 00:27:02.240
for her, people wanted to take care of Brooklyn.
514
00:27:02.519 --> 00:27:02.759
John.
515
00:27:02.839 --> 00:27:05.519
We haven't mentioned the names of the suspects, and I
516
00:27:05.599 --> 00:27:08.440
will say some more things about the main guy here
517
00:27:08.480 --> 00:27:11.160
in a few minutes. But you and I have talked
518
00:27:11.319 --> 00:27:14.200
to law enforcement off and on about this for a decade,
519
00:27:15.039 --> 00:27:18.039
trying to get answers, and the feedback that we constantly
520
00:27:18.079 --> 00:27:22.119
get is, again off the record is oh he did it.
521
00:27:22.440 --> 00:27:25.559
We just couldn't convict him right now because they're and
522
00:27:25.599 --> 00:27:28.359
by did it, I mean there is essentially The common
523
00:27:28.359 --> 00:27:31.279
belief is that Brooklyn is no longer living, that something
524
00:27:31.359 --> 00:27:34.759
happened that night that ended her life, and that this
525
00:27:34.880 --> 00:27:37.759
guy had something to do with it, but they've not
526
00:27:37.880 --> 00:27:41.720
located a body. There was no evidence of violence that happened.
527
00:27:42.000 --> 00:27:44.200
Well, I think there was. I think there was, and
528
00:27:44.240 --> 00:27:47.400
I think that evidence was set on fire and then
529
00:27:47.440 --> 00:27:50.519
also sprayed with water by the local fire department, which
530
00:27:50.880 --> 00:27:53.319
is I'm not throwing shade at them. That's their job.
531
00:27:53.400 --> 00:27:55.559
They respond to a fire, They're going to spray water
532
00:27:55.599 --> 00:27:57.960
and put it out. I just think that they happened
533
00:27:57.960 --> 00:28:00.920
to be spraying down the piece of evidence that would
534
00:28:00.960 --> 00:28:04.240
have been what we have needed to convict somebody.
535
00:28:04.559 --> 00:28:06.720
Yeah, I think you're right, and I think that that
536
00:28:06.799 --> 00:28:09.240
did destroy whatever evidence was there or whatever could have
537
00:28:09.240 --> 00:28:11.880
been collected. And again this is just twelve years ago,
538
00:28:12.039 --> 00:28:15.640
so DNA was a thing, But I think now we'd
539
00:28:15.640 --> 00:28:17.960
be more prepared to close off the crime scene and
540
00:28:17.960 --> 00:28:20.279
maybe be able to collect some things that could be helpful.
541
00:28:20.839 --> 00:28:23.200
So it's not even at this point that we have
542
00:28:23.319 --> 00:28:27.039
DNA that's untested. That we have things that we do
543
00:28:27.920 --> 00:28:30.680
that we know when we're just waiting to test them.
544
00:28:30.720 --> 00:28:34.200
This isn't a situation where there were cameras everywhere. This
545
00:28:34.279 --> 00:28:37.240
is a situation that I think it's going to take
546
00:28:37.319 --> 00:28:41.799
somebody stepping forward to say I know that this happened,
547
00:28:42.039 --> 00:28:45.640
this person told me, this person showed me this is
548
00:28:45.680 --> 00:28:48.680
what I saw or heard, and then being able to
549
00:28:48.759 --> 00:28:52.200
corroborate it. Do you see any other means for this
550
00:28:52.359 --> 00:28:56.319
being solved besides somebody telling what they know.
551
00:28:57.359 --> 00:29:01.119
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if after the fact
552
00:29:01.240 --> 00:29:05.640
that couch was taken into any evidence. I've never heard
553
00:29:05.680 --> 00:29:08.599
of that, so I don't know for sure. I doubt
554
00:29:08.640 --> 00:29:11.880
it at this point, but I think you're right. I
555
00:29:11.880 --> 00:29:16.559
think there are people in this person's life who hurt Brooklyn,
556
00:29:16.720 --> 00:29:19.880
who know that they did it, and they are refusing
557
00:29:19.880 --> 00:29:23.000
to come forward and talk to police. I know that
558
00:29:23.039 --> 00:29:26.359
the guy that everybody assumes did it has spoken to
559
00:29:26.400 --> 00:29:30.400
police many many times, and he's not been quiet. I mean,
560
00:29:30.440 --> 00:29:33.400
he's been in trouble since then. Do you want to
561
00:29:33.400 --> 00:29:35.160
talk about any of that? Yeah, I think so.
562
00:29:35.759 --> 00:29:39.079
And again this is we're not saying his name because
563
00:29:39.240 --> 00:29:43.279
we don't like lawsuits. But you can find with a
564
00:29:43.319 --> 00:29:46.720
simple Google search, not only what happened to Brooklyn Farthing.
565
00:29:46.759 --> 00:29:50.279
I'm sure you'll find a lot of information about that.
566
00:29:50.480 --> 00:29:55.200
But in August of twenty twenty, this individual was arrested
567
00:29:55.279 --> 00:30:00.160
for child exploitation charges by the Internet Crimes Unit the
568
00:30:00.200 --> 00:30:04.559
Kentucky State Police. So essentially there were charges of obtaining
569
00:30:05.640 --> 00:30:09.559
possession portraying a minor in sexual performance. It was a
570
00:30:09.559 --> 00:30:13.559
Class D felony. And he's been in prison for this,
571
00:30:13.720 --> 00:30:15.880
and I mean, looking back at it now, I think
572
00:30:15.880 --> 00:30:20.119
he's probably if he didn't recently get out, possibly going
573
00:30:20.200 --> 00:30:21.160
to be getting out soon.
574
00:30:21.759 --> 00:30:22.640
I had really.
575
00:30:22.400 --> 00:30:25.680
Hoped that when this individual again, if he had anything
576
00:30:25.720 --> 00:30:28.119
to do with it, this is the last person to
577
00:30:28.640 --> 00:30:32.680
admit seeing Brooklyn alive. I had hoped that going behind
578
00:30:32.720 --> 00:30:35.799
bars would give somebody of the leverage to put some
579
00:30:35.799 --> 00:30:38.160
pressure on him, or to get a confession of some kind,
580
00:30:38.319 --> 00:30:41.119
or to tell us things that we don't know. At
581
00:30:41.160 --> 00:30:43.720
the very least, he's hiding something. He knows something else
582
00:30:43.759 --> 00:30:47.160
that happened there that night that he's not telling and
583
00:30:47.240 --> 00:30:47.880
we need to know.
584
00:30:48.240 --> 00:30:50.759
What was the TV series that you and I both
585
00:30:50.839 --> 00:30:53.319
really liked that was based on the true story where
586
00:30:54.079 --> 00:30:59.039
the FBI uses an inmate as like a blackbird. Blackbird, Yeah,
587
00:30:59.039 --> 00:31:01.240
that was a good one. Wish that police could have
588
00:31:02.400 --> 00:31:06.559
got another inmate to get to know him and find
589
00:31:06.559 --> 00:31:08.960
out if there was anything he shared. But again, this
590
00:31:09.039 --> 00:31:12.039
has been over ten years ago. Now, this happened in
591
00:31:12.079 --> 00:31:17.559
twenty thirteen. There are people who know what happened to Brooklyn.
592
00:31:18.160 --> 00:31:22.480
You've got to come forward. This family needs justice and
593
00:31:22.519 --> 00:31:23.559
they need closure.
594
00:31:24.240 --> 00:31:26.920
Yeah, there are other theories about there, that she ran
595
00:31:26.960 --> 00:31:30.079
away or I don't know. A few years ago, there's
596
00:31:30.119 --> 00:31:33.839
a bunch of talk about a serial killer among along
597
00:31:33.920 --> 00:31:38.359
I seventy five named Bill Warner that may have had
598
00:31:38.359 --> 00:31:41.519
something to do with it. I don't believe so far away,
599
00:31:41.599 --> 00:31:45.599
and there's just so many inconsistencies in this person's story
600
00:31:45.640 --> 00:31:48.160
that that's too far fetched for me. Yeah, if you're
601
00:31:48.200 --> 00:31:52.480
looking for some conspiracies, you will find them. But the
602
00:31:52.599 --> 00:31:55.599
reality seems pretty clear in this one that she was
603
00:31:55.640 --> 00:31:59.720
taken to the secluded area where there was no water electricity,
604
00:32:00.359 --> 00:32:04.480
there was a fire there that potentially destroyed some evidence,
605
00:32:04.519 --> 00:32:07.039
and she hasn't been seen since, and the person who
606
00:32:07.960 --> 00:32:11.799
last saw her is not telling the full truth. So
607
00:32:11.920 --> 00:32:15.920
with all that considered, I think the answer is very simple.
608
00:32:16.200 --> 00:32:17.839
We just have to find a way to get to it.
609
00:32:18.160 --> 00:32:21.880
Absolutely. There have been so many nights that I've just
610
00:32:22.000 --> 00:32:25.279
prayed for a break in this case, and I know
611
00:32:25.359 --> 00:32:27.759
there have been so many others praying the same thing.
612
00:32:27.839 --> 00:32:30.839
And I believe in my heart that this case will
613
00:32:30.960 --> 00:32:33.480
see the light. It's just a matter of when.
614
00:32:34.799 --> 00:32:37.759
Yeah, I really hope. So we covered this on our
615
00:32:37.839 --> 00:32:40.440
show on our one year anniversary. It was our one
616
00:32:40.480 --> 00:32:44.559
year anniversary show. I believe that we finally covered this
617
00:32:44.599 --> 00:32:46.279
because it was one of the cases that drove us
618
00:32:46.319 --> 00:32:49.559
into this in the first place, and it's been over
619
00:32:49.640 --> 00:32:51.319
seven years since that happened.
620
00:32:51.480 --> 00:32:55.200
I would have really thought that after a couple of
621
00:32:55.319 --> 00:32:58.079
years after that release, that somebody, not because of anything
622
00:32:58.079 --> 00:33:00.720
we've done, but I just hoped in my heart that
623
00:33:01.079 --> 00:33:05.079
something would have moved and triggered a response and justice
624
00:33:05.119 --> 00:33:08.480
could be served. But here we are, over ten years
625
00:33:08.559 --> 00:33:11.720
after her disappearance, eight years after we released that episode,
626
00:33:11.759 --> 00:33:14.519
and we're no closer today than we were back then.
627
00:33:14.839 --> 00:33:17.839
Yeah, and I think this case obviously haunts us, and
628
00:33:17.880 --> 00:33:21.200
I hope that it has grown to haunt those of
629
00:33:21.240 --> 00:33:23.599
you that have heard it so that we can continue
630
00:33:23.640 --> 00:33:25.359
to raise awareness. I know a lot of the other
631
00:33:25.400 --> 00:33:29.880
podcasts involved in this cases that Hano series have covered
632
00:33:29.880 --> 00:33:33.160
this and are passionate about this. We called dibbs about
633
00:33:33.200 --> 00:33:35.240
talking about it on this series, but we will never
634
00:33:36.079 --> 00:33:38.640
not talk about it, So please help.
635
00:33:38.559 --> 00:33:40.480
Us to spread the word. I'll tell you something else
636
00:33:40.519 --> 00:33:43.079
that I've done, and I hope that maybe others could
637
00:33:43.160 --> 00:33:46.960
do this as well. For years, we saw no movement
638
00:33:47.240 --> 00:33:52.119
in the disappearance and potential murder of Crystal Rogers right
639
00:33:52.559 --> 00:33:56.920
over in Bardstown, and the FBI got involved, And when
640
00:33:56.920 --> 00:34:00.920
they got involved, that's when the cards started falling. I
641
00:34:01.039 --> 00:34:05.440
have put out emails to the FBI and to the
642
00:34:05.559 --> 00:34:09.679
Kentucky State Police and the Madison County Sheriff's Department. There's
643
00:34:09.719 --> 00:34:12.559
a whole layer of stuff we could go into there,
644
00:34:12.599 --> 00:34:15.760
but basically this case is being handled now by Kentucky
645
00:34:15.800 --> 00:34:19.519
State Police and not the Sheriff's department because of some
646
00:34:19.599 --> 00:34:24.000
potential conflicts there. But I think the way that this
647
00:34:24.119 --> 00:34:27.000
case is going to move forward is with the FBI involvement.
648
00:34:27.199 --> 00:34:30.840
I think this is not something that's being actively worked
649
00:34:30.960 --> 00:34:34.280
every single day anymore. It needs fresh eyes and people
650
00:34:34.320 --> 00:34:36.960
who just don't give a crap to come in and
651
00:34:37.840 --> 00:34:38.840
stir some things up.
652
00:34:39.039 --> 00:34:41.599
Yeah, we didn't dive into the again, there's so many
653
00:34:41.639 --> 00:34:44.400
conspiracy theories that we try not to distract and we
654
00:34:44.440 --> 00:34:46.519
try to stick to the facts, but there are reasons
655
00:34:46.519 --> 00:34:49.559
we need outside help from this, so we really hope
656
00:34:49.559 --> 00:34:53.079
and pray that we get that, and we appreciate you
657
00:34:53.199 --> 00:34:55.559
being here and being a part of you should be
658
00:34:55.639 --> 00:34:58.599
here the cases that haunt us. Don't forget to give
659
00:34:58.639 --> 00:35:02.440
this podcast the five star review. This project gives everything
660
00:35:02.480 --> 00:35:07.679
earned back to an organization working to help victims and families.
661
00:35:08.480 --> 00:35:13.000
And remember, you're wanted, you're loved, and you're not forgotten.
