✧ Reflection / Episode Summary
In this episode, I welcome Penn Johnson — ceremonial song keeper, soul guide, and carrier of the Left Angle Cross of Wishes. His artistry lives not in performance, but in prayer. With over 450 songs as living medicine, Penn reminds us that music is not entertainment, but remembrance — a direct transmission from land, spirit, and soul.
Through stories of pilgrimage, chaos, and sacred presence, Penn reveals what it means to embody emotional truth and to guard values that matter most. His journey through India’s Maha Kumbh Mela, his raw reflections on performance versus authenticity, and his devotion to ceremony offer a powerful mirror for creatives navigating the tension between noise and truth.
Penn doesn’t chase the wish — he is the wish fulfilled. His presence, like his music, awakens something ancient within us: the courage to be real in a world of image, and the medicine of stillness in a world of noise.
✧ Key Takeaways
✧ Music becomes sacred when it tells the stories that words cannot.
✧ Chaos is not an obstacle — it is a spiritual practice of finding peace within.
✧ Performance dissolves when presence takes the stage.
✧ Our greatest creations are not forced; they are remembered.
✧ To be a mirror of wholeness is to inspire others into their own remembering.
✧ Integration Practice
❍ Journal Prompt: Where in my life am I still performing, and where am I allowing authenticity to lead?
❍ Somatic Practice: Step outside barefoot. Whisper to the land: “I am the wish fulfilled.” Notice how your body softens.
❍ Sacred Ritual: Sit in silence for five minutes without trying to create. Let presence itself be the song.
