SENTIMENT FREE: Commanders Daronte Jones COULD Overhaul Defensive Staff and REPLACE Veteran Coaches

Sentimental value doesn't land on the scoreboard, and for the Washington Commanders, the defensive coaching staff is officially on notice. The arrival of defensive coordinator Daronte Jones signals a potential overhaul for the secondary and front seven after two seasons of stagnant takeaway production and explosive plays allowed. While Jason Simmons is already linked to a significant role with the Pittsburgh Steelers, legendary franchise figures like Ryan Kerrigan, defensive line coach Darryl Tapp, and Tommy Donatell could be next. Can the organization prioritize winning over emotion to fix a unit that saw its pass rush production fall off a cliff in 2025?

Washington might raid the Minnesota Vikings to find their replacements, targeting Marcus Dixon or Imarjaye Albury Sr. to revitalize the defensive line. The most intriguing addition could be "mad scientist" Chenzo Funari, a SpaceX scientist who designed the takeaway circuit that led the NFL in interceptions. By leveraging existing relationships from the Vikings and Bengals, Daronte Jones aims to implement a more aggressive, data-driven scheme. Will these innovative hires finally transform the Commanders into a turnover-generating powerhouse?
