1
00:00:05.000 --> 00:00:06.000
What?
2
00:00:05.000 --> 00:00:09.000
Yeah, I know, right? We're back.
3
00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:12.000
It's amazing. We made it. We returned.
4
00:00:12.000 --> 00:00:18.000
We came back through the portal. We flew in a giant can.
5
00:00:18.000 --> 00:00:19.000
They don't know that yet.
6
00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:23.000
Oh, they don't know that. Oh, my gosh, everybody, I'm sorry. Spoiler alert.
7
00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:50.000
Well, they might know we went to Vegas. I think we said we were doing that, but they don't know if we went to Vegas and did anything, because we don't know if this podcast is coming out before or after other podcasts that indicate that we might have done something in Vegas. That's true. In fact, Greg did go crazy in Vegas. What? I. No, we. We went to a magic show, and he ran up on stage and started throwing stuff everywhere.
8
00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:51.000
I was like.
9
00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:53.000
It was nuts.
10
00:00:53.000 --> 00:01:22.000
I was like, this is fake, everybody. It's an illusion. And I was, like, reaching in, and I was grabbing bottles and bottles and bottles and bottles and bottles and eggs and bottles and eggs. Bottles and eggs. And then I was like, all right, everybody, we're gonna have some amazing egg creams, because I got bottles and eggs, and I made egg creams for everybody. It was awesome. And then I made them all disappearing.
11
00:01:22.000 --> 00:01:23.000
That's exactly what happened.
12
00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:26.000
I know. Matt Franco was so mad.
13
00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:29.000
Yeah, I didn't even say it was Matt Franco, so.
14
00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:30.000
Oh, well.
15
00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:45.000
Yeah, well, we have a. We're just cold starting today because we just got back from Vegas, and we're both exhausted. Well, I'm exhausted. Greg looks refreshed. I am wiped out. I worked today, and Greg did not.
16
00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:57.000
You worked? I slept. I took it easy. I had a nice, relaxing morning. I've been hydrating to get back to normal, hanging out with my dogs, and.
17
00:01:57.000 --> 00:01:59.000
I thought you hydrated a lot during the trip.
18
00:01:59.000 --> 00:02:03.000
Oh, I did hydrate a lot. We drank a lot of water, so. And other like.
19
00:02:03.000 --> 00:02:05.000
Oh, I didn't think you were hydrating with water.
20
00:02:05.000 --> 00:02:08.000
Oh, well, I mean.
21
00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:19.000
You were hydrating. You were hydrating with. I. You know, when you're on vacation and vodka and when you're. And sugar water. Yeah.
22
00:02:19.000 --> 00:02:38.000
Well, when you. When you're on vacation, you drink different things and you try all these different things that you normally don't try, so. I don't normally. I don't normally try all these different beverages and stuff like that, so why not, while you're. While you're on vacation, experience a couple different adult beverages and whatnot.
23
00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:46.000
So, you know, and if you do go to Vegas, drink your water, recommend drinking a lot of water.
24
00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:48.000
A lot.
25
00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:53.000
And there's some things we'll Recommend in later episodes, too, that were fun places to go.
26
00:02:53.000 --> 00:03:00.000
Oh, for sure. I mean, you definitely, definitely should always do this one thing.
27
00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:01.000
If you're.
28
00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:22.000
If you're there, by all means, make sure you go to the Bellagio while everyone is out there looking at. Looking for the fountain to go off. And then while you're not paying attention, it goes off and somebody says, oh, look, the fountain. And you turn and look and it's already happened.
29
00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:24.000
Yeah. That's unfortunate for you.
30
00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:28.000
I know. It was. It was. I felt like Mr. Bean.
31
00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:34.000
Yeah, well, it's also, you went to the Aria and had this amazing French dinner, so.
32
00:03:34.000 --> 00:03:40.000
Oh, that. Yeah, that was. Goodness gracious.
33
00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:43.000
Well, anyway, Booster Gold is not having a French dinner.
34
00:03:43.000 --> 00:03:44.000
No, he is not.
35
00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:51.000
He is. Unless that dinner involves maybe like the guillotine or something.
36
00:03:51.000 --> 00:03:58.000
He is. He is the most wanted person in futuristic Gotham at the moment. He's.
37
00:03:58.000 --> 00:04:08.000
Now. Do you think he's wanted because he. We're not in Gotham, are we? Yeah, I thought we were in Metropolis.
38
00:04:08.000 --> 00:04:10.000
We're in Gotham.
39
00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:12.000
We're in Gotham. Yeah. That's where Batman.
40
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:15.000
Did you not read. Do you not read the book?
41
00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:27.000
Booster Gold lives in Metropolis. Why is he in. Why is he in Gotham? Well, we will be reading the book. I read the book.
42
00:04:27.000 --> 00:04:31.000
I don't like be. I don't like being correct, but.
43
00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:32.000
Well, these.
44
00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:39.000
It kind of looks like it's going to be one of those moments in which Dan's gonna be like, ah, damn it. Greg is right.
45
00:04:39.000 --> 00:04:45.000
Well, you probably are right. I'm just saying the history of the DC Universe is must reading according to this guy.
46
00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:49.000
Where did Booster Gold go to college?
47
00:04:49.000 --> 00:05:01.000
Empire State University. Yeah, with like, Tank and.
48
00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:03.000
Gotham Eaters.
49
00:05:03.000 --> 00:05:04.000
Are you sure?
50
00:05:04.000 --> 00:05:06.000
I. Yeah, I believe so.
51
00:05:06.000 --> 00:05:12.000
Because I thought he went with, like. Didn't he hang out with. Didn't he date Gwen Stacy at one point?
52
00:05:12.000 --> 00:05:16.000
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He went to Empire State University, Dated Gwen Stacy.
53
00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:18.000
He Spider Gwen in the future.
54
00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:30.000
It was. What was weird about that, though, is he was. He was really stuck on. He was really stuck on you. He was really stuck on me, on this girl named Mary Jane. And, you know, I think he was.
55
00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:35.000
Really stuck on Mary Jane. Yeah. That's what led to his life choices. It did.
56
00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:44.000
It really did. I mean, and sadly for Booster, it wasn't legal at the time when he went back to 1970. Something to go to college.
57
00:05:44.000 --> 00:05:49.000
But. Well, the good news is that unlike Booster Gold.
58
00:05:49.000 --> 00:05:50.000
Yes.
59
00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:53.000
We successfully gambled during our trip to Vegas.
60
00:05:53.000 --> 00:05:54.000
I know, right?
61
00:05:54.000 --> 00:05:55.000
Booster.
62
00:05:55.000 --> 00:05:57.000
Booster betting on football. Not a good thing.
63
00:05:57.000 --> 00:06:09.000
Booster, not us betting on the Seahawks. A very good thing. A very good thing. This is going to come out after the Super Bowl, I think too. So just to be clear, that was the championship game we bet on.
64
00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:10.000
Yes.
65
00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:12.000
We could then be sad later, but we hope not to be.
66
00:06:12.000 --> 00:06:19.000
I, I, I really hope not to be. I mean, I, I really, I really hope that they keep the momentum, you know, and they, but in the past.
67
00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:26.000
Future, depending on when you hear this, but just know the Seahawks did us well. They did, they did, they did quite good.
68
00:06:26.000 --> 00:06:32.000
It was a bit of a nail biter game for, for Dan in that, that last quarter there.
69
00:06:32.000 --> 00:06:34.000
It was a lot of actually watching the game.
70
00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:46.000
I, I was, I was paying attention. I was paying attention. I, I, we were visiting with Mr. Travis Webb of the Alex Rainpain and Travis Webb.
71
00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:47.000
Who's that?
72
00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:50.000
Travis. Travis Webb, you know, of Starlight and over.
73
00:06:50.000 --> 00:06:51.000
Has he been on the podcast before?
74
00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:53.000
He has been on the podcast.
75
00:06:53.000 --> 00:06:55.000
Should we call him?
76
00:06:55.000 --> 00:06:56.000
If you want to.
77
00:06:56.000 --> 00:06:58.000
I don't think this is a good week to call him.
78
00:06:58.000 --> 00:06:59.000
It's not.
79
00:06:58.000 --> 00:07:00.000
We just hung out with him for days.
80
00:07:00.000 --> 00:07:16.000
He'd be like, why are you calling me now? But, but Travis wanted to show me all of the wonders of the virtual reality universe. So we fell into a virtual reality hole. It was, it was fun. I had a good time.
81
00:07:16.000 --> 00:07:18.000
You fell into a hole?
82
00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:20.000
Yeah, yeah, it was like.
83
00:07:20.000 --> 00:07:22.000
Is that kind of like falling into a pit?
84
00:07:22.000 --> 00:07:28.000
A pit of virtual reality? Yeah, yeah. We were in the virtual and he, he brought me, brought me into the pit of virtual reality.
85
00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:35.000
And so now I'm going to let everybody on this show in on a little secret. Greg did not watch Parks and Rec.
86
00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:37.000
I did not. Well, I know about the pit.
87
00:07:37.000 --> 00:07:41.000
Unlike most of you, he doesn't know anything about pits and stuff.
88
00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:58.000
I know all about the pit in which our, our what to call him the guy who lived here. That, that Chris Pratt Art. Yeah, that, our, that our friend. Oh, my friend wrestled in, in high school.
89
00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:00.000
There you go. Well, he is a big Seahawks fan too.
90
00:08:00.000 --> 00:08:02.000
Yeah, he is.
91
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:05.000
He's, he seems like a nice guy.
92
00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:07.000
Yeah, sure.
93
00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:08.000
You said, yeah, sure.
94
00:08:08.000 --> 00:08:10.000
I said, yeah, sure.
95
00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:16.000
Hasn't he survived being fairly like politically neutral and just a kind of jolly guy?
96
00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:20.000
I mean, sure.
97
00:08:20.000 --> 00:08:23.000
And he doesn't really take a stand one way or the other. It doesn't seem.
98
00:08:23.000 --> 00:08:25.000
No, not at all. Not at all.
99
00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:28.000
I.
100
00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:29.000
Not at all.
101
00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:33.000
Yeah, it doesn't seem that way. You know.
102
00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:36.000
Yeah, I like his ex wife a lot better.
103
00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:41.000
Ow. Well, anyway, I mean, also, she's another Fine.
104
00:08:41.000 --> 00:08:48.000
Washingtonian actress or actor? I mean, I'm sorry, did I call Chris Pratt actors? I guess I did.
105
00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:52.000
Well, I don't know why we're hating on Chris Pratt today.
106
00:08:52.000 --> 00:08:55.000
You know, I'm just not a fan.
107
00:08:55.000 --> 00:08:56.000
Wow.
108
00:08:56.000 --> 00:08:58.000
I. I mean.
109
00:08:58.000 --> 00:08:59.000
I mean, he's got, like.
110
00:08:59.000 --> 00:09:02.000
He's got one character he plays in everything.
111
00:09:02.000 --> 00:09:15.000
You like other. You like other comedians from Washington that just play the same character in every show. They were tight ends for the University of Washington. But you don't like other ones.
112
00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:25.000
Joel. Joel McHale. Now, that. That stings a bit because he.
113
00:09:25.000 --> 00:09:29.000
Oh, look. Wait, pause. Everyone, Jiu Jitsu lawyer Paul is here.
114
00:09:29.000 --> 00:09:31.000
Oh, my gosh.
115
00:09:31.000 --> 00:09:33.000
He might even make an appearance.
116
00:09:33.000 --> 00:09:35.000
Make an appearance? I hope so.
117
00:09:35.000 --> 00:09:49.000
Yeah, he said. Oh, he. See, he corrected me. I'm sorry, I spoke incorrectly. That Kyotera Jiu Jitsu lawyer Paul, who is now a Kyotera black belt who you can train with.
118
00:09:49.000 --> 00:09:50.000
You can.
119
00:09:50.000 --> 00:10:07.000
At certified martial arts in University Place on Jackson slash Bridgeport, and 27th in Tacoma, Washington, where they have open mats on Sunday. They have competition training on Saturdays.
120
00:10:07.000 --> 00:10:08.000
And.
121
00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:10.000
You could train with the Kyotera black belt.
122
00:10:10.000 --> 00:10:16.000
That is pretty awesome. Also. Oh, what? There's more?
123
00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:19.000
Yeah. You also could use jujitsu lawyer Paul for legal services.
124
00:10:19.000 --> 00:10:22.000
Oh, oh, yeah, that. That too.
125
00:10:22.000 --> 00:10:33.000
Now, if you live in Las Vegas, we recommend that you call one of the million lawyers on billboards there. Millions. Because Paul does not practice in Nevada.
126
00:10:33.000 --> 00:10:35.000
No, but he does in California, so.
127
00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:41.000
He does in California. Indeed. He does have. He has passed the bar in California. It's a high jump.
128
00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:43.000
It's a hop skibidi Jones from Las Vegas.
129
00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:53.000
Yeah. So if you have, like, in a employment law need. If you just need a general practice lawyer like Greg does on a regular basis. It's true.
130
00:10:53.000 --> 00:10:54.000
Paul, I use Paul.
131
00:10:54.000 --> 00:11:14.000
Paul, wait. Don't leave yet. We need to know the phone number to call because we don't know the phone number. Oh, the phone number to call Paul. For the first time ever, we're going to get the phone number on the podcast, because Paul is right here is 253 656-4475. You got that?
132
00:11:14.000 --> 00:11:20.000
Call it. If you have a need for legal things, call Paul.
133
00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:39.000
There you go. Better call Paul. Oh, wait, we can call Paul. Wait, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not getting sued. No, not sued. No, no, no. Don't steal. Don't steal. Well, as long as we're getting plugs out of the way at the beginning podcast, we're going to cover Booster Gold number 14. But if you will notice to my right here.
134
00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:40.000
Oh, yeah, to your right.
135
00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:47.000
I only probably won't. Yeah, it probably won't go. I have Trekker Volume 1 and Trekker Volume 2.
136
00:11:47.000 --> 00:11:48.000
Yeah.
137
00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:58.000
And friend of the podcast who's not a friend yet, but should be a friend of the podcast by proxy.
138
00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:00.000
He's a friend. He's a friend of.
139
00:12:00.000 --> 00:12:01.000
Friend of Starlight.
140
00:12:01.000 --> 00:12:02.000
Travis.
141
00:12:02.000 --> 00:12:13.000
Yeah, friend of Travis, Friend of Starlight, Friend of promoting things on Kickstarter. Friend of showing Travis and Greg how to do books on Kickstarter properly.
142
00:12:13.000 --> 00:12:14.000
Correct.
143
00:12:14.000 --> 00:12:26.000
Juan Randall. And also friend of the podcast because I read all of the Trekker stories. Yeah. And Trekker the Ties that Bind is out on Kickstarter right now.
144
00:12:26.000 --> 00:12:29.000
Right now. New Trekker book.
145
00:12:29.000 --> 00:12:39.000
You can get the new tracker book. Follow Mercy St. Clair's Journey. This time, Mercy faces a showdown in the stars with the fate of the galactic rebellion in the balance.
146
00:12:39.000 --> 00:13:14.000
Whoa. Oh, man. I love when I'm at a show and you get to hear Ron talk about the book to someone that doesn't know about the book. And just the time he takes to explain stuff and everything like that, and it's always with so much, like, excitement. He's done the pitch a million times, but he's always, always happy to explain the characters and stuff like that. Break down the story for somebody and, you know, just really not. He's not trying to sell them on it. He's just trying to get them.
147
00:13:14.000 --> 00:13:17.000
Oh, come on. Understand. Sell you on it.
148
00:13:17.000 --> 00:13:19.000
You know, he will know.
149
00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:23.000
Ron will. Very tactfully and stylistically.
150
00:13:23.000 --> 00:13:24.000
Yeah.
151
00:13:24.000 --> 00:14:14.000
If you talk about some of his older Zerk, he'll be like, well, have you heard of my current thing? And this thing I do every day that's so wonderful and awesome. And so I think that when you are looking at that, it's awesome. If you've never read Trekker, you can go to Trekker Comic.com. that's T E R E K K E R Comic.com. you can go to RonRandall.com or you can go to Kickstarter to see the start of the book. We may even put a link for you because we like Ron that much. The other thing I will say, though, it's not just because we like Ron that much. I love the Trekker stories that much. I have all of them. I've already backed this Kickstarter on his first day. And on top of that, if you don't know about this thing, well, Mercy is a Trekker.
152
00:14:14.000 --> 00:14:15.000
A tracker.
153
00:14:15.000 --> 00:14:19.000
Track and track and track down things.
154
00:14:19.000 --> 00:14:20.000
Oh, my God.
155
00:14:19.000 --> 00:14:31.000
Her job becomes much more Than that. And throughout her journey, she does all sorts of cool things. She meets the love of her life. Ah. Which is nice.
156
00:14:31.000 --> 00:14:33.000
That's awesome.
157
00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:46.000
And she does that. And they do all sorts of different things. And I've got to tell you, it's not what you expect and is what you expect all at the same time.
158
00:14:46.000 --> 00:14:51.000
Adventures in space with a love story to boot.
159
00:14:51.000 --> 00:14:53.000
There's nothing like fun adventures in space.
160
00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:54.000
That's true.
161
00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:54.000
There's so.
162
00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:55.000
I love.
163
00:14:55.000 --> 00:15:03.000
Yeah, it's so we will keep moving through. Yeah, yeah. It's very exciting.
164
00:15:03.000 --> 00:15:04.000
Yeah.
165
00:15:04.000 --> 00:15:06.000
A lot of stuff going on around here right now.
166
00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:16.000
There is a lot of stuff, Dan. And that's good. That's what we like. We like having a lot of stuff going on. A lot of exciting new things. Yeah.
167
00:15:16.000 --> 00:15:25.000
So there's a lot. Yeah. Are we getting. Well, hey, we'll do more plugs at the end, but that's so far. Seems like enough for the beginning of the podcast.
168
00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:33.000
Hey, you know what? You're doing pretty good. It's not 30 minutes in and we're getting somewhere towards the book.
169
00:15:33.000 --> 00:15:40.000
Well, Booster Gold number 14. If you were looking for Trekkers, we have some on the COVID Maybe.
170
00:15:40.000 --> 00:15:53.000
I mean. Oh, yeah, those guys, I don't know if they're Trekkers or not. They kind of look. They. They look like, I don't know, not Lobos.
171
00:15:53.000 --> 00:15:56.000
They're not Lobos. Yeah. They are writing, like Lobo cycles.
172
00:15:56.000 --> 00:15:57.000
Yeah.
173
00:15:57.000 --> 00:16:05.000
I mean, they look. I mean, this looks. Okay, let's see. When did Return of the Jedi come out?
174
00:16:05.000 --> 00:16:14.000
Okay. Yeah. If you had Stormtroopers mixed up with Judge Dredd on a Lobo cycle.
175
00:16:14.000 --> 00:16:17.000
I wasn't thinking a Lobo cycle. I was thinking they're riding the cycle.
176
00:16:17.000 --> 00:16:18.000
Oh, oh.
177
00:16:18.000 --> 00:16:19.000
Return to the Jedi.
178
00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:21.000
Oh, yeah, yeah. The. Yeah.
179
00:16:21.000 --> 00:16:25.000
83. Yeah, yeah. Of the speeder bike.
180
00:16:25.000 --> 00:16:26.000
Yeah. Sky said.
181
00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:29.000
But it is Judge dress. Yeah. There are a whole bunch of Judge dreads.
182
00:16:29.000 --> 00:16:31.000
They got a Judge.
183
00:16:31.000 --> 00:16:36.000
What do you think we got? We got Judge Judge Tweedle.
184
00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:37.000
Yeah.
185
00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:48.000
Judge d, judge dumb, judge 70s porn stache. And then I can't really tell the other Judges in the background.
186
00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:59.000
Oh, that the one. The one in the far back is Judge Dookie Pants. And then you got Judge Dumb Dumb. Oh, you got. You already had a Judge Dumb. But this one is Judge Dumb Dumb.
187
00:16:59.000 --> 00:17:03.000
Tweedle D, Tweedle, Tweedledee and Dumb. Yes. We had this.
188
00:17:03.000 --> 00:17:05.000
And this is Judge Dumb and Dumber.
189
00:17:05.000 --> 00:17:13.000
Okay. Well, we also have a big symbol in the middle that says Citizen Alert. Wanted Booster Gold for crimes of treason and theft.
190
00:17:13.000 --> 00:17:18.000
Oh, one most Wanted that Booster Gold.
191
00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:25.000
You know, he is number one. Most wanted. I mean. Yeah, that's. He has to be number one at something. He definitely hasn't been number one at anything else.
192
00:17:25.000 --> 00:17:31.000
He's finally done something to get everyone's attention. Everybody wants a piece of Booster Gold now, right?
193
00:17:31.000 --> 00:17:38.000
Yep. This is. Everybody wants a piece of Booster Gold. Everybody wants. Well, we think so.
194
00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:42.000
Yeah. Because, you know, it's time. Booster's finally.
195
00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:43.000
He's in.
196
00:17:43.000 --> 00:17:46.000
He's in the. He's in the right time.
197
00:17:46.000 --> 00:17:56.000
Well, anyway, Booster Gold in a story called A Future Lost as opposed to a Future Found.
198
00:17:56.000 --> 00:17:57.000
Yeah.
199
00:17:57.000 --> 00:18:06.000
Or A Future Predicted or Future Loved. And we are in 2462 in Gotham City.
200
00:18:06.000 --> 00:18:16.000
Oh, what? In Gotham City. Oh, wow. I thought he was in Metropolis or like.
201
00:18:16.000 --> 00:18:26.000
Well, no, he lives in Metropolis. That's what I. That's all I said. I said he lives in Metropolis. That is a factual statement.
202
00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:30.000
Yeah, but you didn't believe that I could be correct.
203
00:18:30.000 --> 00:18:37.000
I believed you could be correct. You're a very smart person or a creative writer.
204
00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:38.000
Yeah.
205
00:18:38.000 --> 00:18:44.000
Thank you, somebody. I make me give writing advice while babies are crying for an entire two and a half hour airplane flight.
206
00:18:44.000 --> 00:19:14.000
Oh, that's. That was. It was. I don't know people out there. I understand you have to travel with your children. I get it. But boy, oh boy, these children, they don't know what's going on. They don't know why their ears hurt. They don't know why the thing is shaking. You shouldn't try to just go to sleep yourself and leave your child to deal with whatever be better.
207
00:19:14.000 --> 00:19:17.000
I disagree. You should just not travel with children.
208
00:19:17.000 --> 00:19:22.000
Oh, well, that's also an option. I was thinking that to myself as well.
209
00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:23.000
Have those folks come to you?
210
00:19:23.000 --> 00:19:25.000
Have those folks come to you? Yeah, yeah.
211
00:19:25.000 --> 00:19:27.000
You have a small baby.
212
00:19:27.000 --> 00:19:28.000
Yeah.
213
00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:32.000
Don't make the baby want to see that small baby. They could come to you.
214
00:19:32.000 --> 00:19:34.000
Don't bring the baby on the airplane.
215
00:19:34.000 --> 00:19:44.000
Right. They could just come to you. It's also bad for baby's ears and stuff. And I'm not being judgy. We. We know people have to travel. They have to travel, but geez, you.
216
00:19:44.000 --> 00:19:53.000
Know, that, that child, that child. It sounded like they were experiencing like the seven rings of hell on the airplane.
217
00:19:53.000 --> 00:19:56.000
And it was probably mostly it.
218
00:19:56.000 --> 00:20:02.000
It was painful to. To sit through and. And watch this poor child.
219
00:20:02.000 --> 00:20:10.000
So there we go. Well, anyway, we are looking at a lot of things happening.
220
00:20:10.000 --> 00:20:22.000
Oh, man. Booster is taking it out on the wall with his good arm. He's gonna have two bad arm. He's gonna have two bad arms, man. He's gonna hurt his other hand now.
221
00:20:22.000 --> 00:21:02.000
And yeah, and Booster is like, he's at his old apartment building where he used to live with his mom and his sister, and he's beating it up, and he's really mad because it's all his fault. And his arm's still in a sling. He's just having a bad day. Trixie is in the Gold Star outfit. Gold Star back in the background. And, man, and Mr. Furley is getting all mad. He's like, hey, you guys got to leave. I'm going to call the cops. See, I'll call the cops. Carter, we know you. Tricks is like telling him to calm down. And then Booster's like, man, I'm gonna get you.
222
00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:05.000
Oh, man. Booster, don't. Don't lose your cool, bro.
223
00:21:05.000 --> 00:21:16.000
Yeah, he already did lose his cool. He can't find his, his, like, mom is gone, his sister's gone. It's terrible. He can't find anybody. It's awful. It's all his fault. It's all. I mean, it probably is, honestly.
224
00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:36.000
I, I, I, like, at the end of this page, I was, like, waiting for the page turn and Booster to be up on top of the roof with this Mr. Furley guy hanging him over by his, by his ankles. Where's my sister? Just like, oh, my gosh, this going to, this going to end poorly for Booster and this, this Mr. Furley.
225
00:21:36.000 --> 00:21:49.000
Yeah, and then he did. And the most stereotypical New York neighbor pops out of his apartment on page three and says, you better let him go because I already called the cops. See?
226
00:21:49.000 --> 00:21:54.000
Yeah, you're, you're, you're messing up my time with Meatwad Master Shake.
227
00:21:54.000 --> 00:22:07.000
I mean, it's just good to know that in 2462, people that live in, in apartments in Gotham City are still wearing the exact same clothing that they wore in 29 and in 1987.
228
00:22:07.000 --> 00:22:10.000
I don't think that Carl really ever changes, you know?
229
00:22:10.000 --> 00:22:32.000
That is Carl, isn't it? Yeah. Boy, this Aqua Team Hunter hunger forces come up in the most two most recent Booster Gold podcasts. And I'm so happy to see that. But that is, that is Carl. We, we now know where his origin came from. He hung out right there in Mr. Gold comics in on page three.
230
00:22:32.000 --> 00:22:34.000
He just lifted right from here.
231
00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:36.000
14.
232
00:22:36.000 --> 00:22:39.000
He was just lifted from this page, right?
233
00:22:39.000 --> 00:22:58.000
Well, Booster is losing his head, and Trix is like, you got to go. And the sirens start coming and they fly away, and Booster's like that noisy, nosy jerk called the police and. And Trixie's like, why is that bad? And Booster's like, it's because I stole a time machine.
234
00:22:58.000 --> 00:23:18.000
I stole time machine and other stuff. I don't know. Kind of a bad guy. Trixie did some bad stuff. I'm a loner, Trixie. You should just leave me now. I. I know the things that I've done and they're not all good. I'm not. I'm not the guy that you think I am. And Dan has a dog.
235
00:23:18.000 --> 00:23:27.000
And it turns out stealing a time machine in 2462 is just the same as launching a nuclear bomb in a church.
236
00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:29.000
Oh, man.
237
00:23:29.000 --> 00:23:30.000
That's what Booster says.
238
00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:48.000
Well, I mean the worst part is to think that that actually probably happened at some point in Booster's timeline. To be able to equiviate those two things is being equally bad. If you have a scale and you're going to weigh one thing that is bad to another thing that's bad, then it must have happened at one point.
239
00:23:48.000 --> 00:23:56.000
Stealing time machine. Well, there must have been something that happened with time because something. Why would stealing a time machine be so bad?
240
00:23:56.000 --> 00:24:04.000
Well, you know, I'm thinking about this and I'm wondering if Booster is a Sticks fan because he might have too much time on his hands.
241
00:24:04.000 --> 00:24:08.000
Wow. There you go. He.
242
00:24:08.000 --> 00:24:11.000
Yeah. Or you could.
243
00:24:11.000 --> 00:24:20.000
He might just be a man and he might just be a man in the wilderness. Oh, he could be a Tommy Shaw song. You don't know it is Tommy.
244
00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:21.000
Tommy Shaw song. I don't know.
245
00:24:21.000 --> 00:24:23.000
He didn't sing it there.
246
00:24:23.000 --> 00:24:25.000
Oh, why don't you.
247
00:24:25.000 --> 00:24:27.000
But if you were a true Sticks fan.
248
00:24:27.000 --> 00:24:43.000
If I was a true Sticks fan. I like honestly of the two albums that they did and plus the extra songs, it was like almost two and a half albums worth of music at their concert and I knew 70% of the music that was being played.
249
00:24:43.000 --> 00:24:47.000
What was the median age of the people attending the Stix concert?
250
00:24:47.000 --> 00:24:50.000
Oh boy.
251
00:24:50.000 --> 00:24:51.000
You.
252
00:24:50.000 --> 00:25:09.000
Travis and I were definitely on the younger side of the scale. The median age probably being. I'd say probably. In the late 60s somewhere.
253
00:25:09.000 --> 00:25:12.000
Yeah, there you go. I.
254
00:25:12.000 --> 00:25:22.000
The. The next couple behind us and the nice couple be in front of us in line were definitely in there. I would say 70s.
255
00:25:22.000 --> 00:25:29.000
Well, we also at the Sticks concert. How crazy with this. We met a letterer.
256
00:25:29.000 --> 00:25:32.000
Oh wow. Yeah.
257
00:25:32.000 --> 00:25:35.000
Getting our. Our. Our Sticks T shirts.
258
00:25:35.000 --> 00:25:36.000
He was so nice.
259
00:25:36.000 --> 00:25:40.000
Yeah. And we met. I. You met another gentleman too. I did not know the name.
260
00:25:40.000 --> 00:26:00.000
Yeah, I, I didn't catch his name but call out to you potential Listener, but very cool. Dude, I wish I got your name. Great conversation and stuff like that. But both you. Yeah, it was really cool.
261
00:26:00.000 --> 00:26:05.000
Yeah. Brian Kolek. So he does a bunch of Godzilla stuff.
262
00:26:05.000 --> 00:26:10.000
That is awesome. I'm gonna have to go hit up the shop.
263
00:26:10.000 --> 00:26:13.000
Looks like a bunch of stuff for idw.
264
00:26:13.000 --> 00:26:14.000
That is cool.
265
00:26:14.000 --> 00:26:41.000
And he also owns. I believe I shouldn't say this, but I think it's called Stoked on Printing. So I was trying to look him up on the spot, but yeah, super. I. I can't speak to the quality of his work, but I definitely can speak to. Outside of seeing it, but I can't. I can definitely speak to the quality of the guy. Super nice guy to talk to and just chilling out there talking. We were almost late to get started in the concert because we were talking to people and shocked everybody.
266
00:26:41.000 --> 00:26:43.000
Yeah.
267
00:26:43.000 --> 00:26:49.000
But yeah, it was fun. So. Yeah, it was fun. And he was just like, oh, what is this?
268
00:26:49.000 --> 00:26:51.000
The hats.
269
00:26:51.000 --> 00:27:03.000
What are the hats about? Godzilla rivals. Godzilla Escape the Dead Zone. A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Godzilla.
270
00:27:03.000 --> 00:27:05.000
I gotta go grab that if I had to go find it.
271
00:27:05.000 --> 00:27:15.000
Yeah. So there we go. And that was super neat. So, yeah, it's fun. Well, we met another creator too, but we'll talk about that at a different time.
272
00:27:15.000 --> 00:27:37.000
Another time. Yeah, that's. What I can tell you is the. The weekend was full of surprises. And it was definitely like you go on a trip and you never know what to expect. And it just kept. It just like the slot machines. It just kept giving and giving and giving and giving. It was amazing.
273
00:27:37.000 --> 00:27:41.000
Booster Gold. So back to Booster. We got a nine panel grid, my friend.
274
00:27:41.000 --> 00:27:43.000
Holy cats.
275
00:27:43.000 --> 00:27:46.000
A nine pound grid. That means we're gonna do some storytelling.
276
00:27:46.000 --> 00:27:47.000
Yes, we are.
277
00:27:47.000 --> 00:27:55.000
We're gonna do a lot of storytelling. In fact, you better watch these men when you do nine panel grids.
278
00:27:55.000 --> 00:27:56.000
Yeah.
279
00:27:55.000 --> 00:28:05.000
And just to see what I did there. Yeah, you better watch these men when you do nine panel grids. You get, get, get, get it, get it, get it.
280
00:28:05.000 --> 00:28:06.000
Yeah, yeah.
281
00:28:06.000 --> 00:28:07.000
Are you sure you get it?
282
00:28:07.000 --> 00:28:09.000
Nine panel grids? I do. I get it. Yeah.
283
00:28:09.000 --> 00:28:10.000
Get it. Okay.
284
00:28:09.000 --> 00:28:10.000
I have.
285
00:28:10.000 --> 00:28:17.000
So. Yes. Well, we're watching. Is it Jack, right? And Rick Hunter? Yeah.
286
00:28:17.000 --> 00:28:20.000
Well, I thought it was Mitt or Jack. Mitt.
287
00:28:20.000 --> 00:28:40.000
Stop it. So we got Jack and. And Rip. And they're trying to fix the time machine, the time sphere. Not. Not the time bubble. Time bubble last year. And the something is fried out to a crisp.
288
00:28:40.000 --> 00:28:46.000
Oh, man. The something. Are they gonna find another something in. In their time that they're in now?
289
00:28:46.000 --> 00:28:49.000
They're gonna try. Okay.
290
00:28:49.000 --> 00:28:54.000
I bet you in the future they're just, like, all over the place. Just like, you know, you could open up a microwave.
291
00:28:54.000 --> 00:28:56.000
They don't have a something.
292
00:28:56.000 --> 00:28:57.000
What?
293
00:28:56.000 --> 00:28:58.000
They don't have it. They need to get a something. They don't have it.
294
00:28:58.000 --> 00:29:00.000
Yeah, they probably. But in.
295
00:29:00.000 --> 00:29:01.000
They could.
296
00:29:01.000 --> 00:29:08.000
They could go anywhere, and they could just, like, open a microwave. And that something is probably using. They're using it to make the microwave work.
297
00:29:08.000 --> 00:29:13.000
Yeah, so like a water filter, something, something. Yeah.
298
00:29:13.000 --> 00:29:14.000
Something, something.
299
00:29:14.000 --> 00:29:18.000
Okay. Well, anyway, they go looking.
300
00:29:18.000 --> 00:29:20.000
Hunter is the one has too much time on his hands.
301
00:29:20.000 --> 00:29:23.000
They go looking. And they're both wearing leather jackets.
302
00:29:23.000 --> 00:29:25.000
Yeah. Twinsies.
303
00:29:25.000 --> 00:29:27.000
And they're walking around really super cool.
304
00:29:27.000 --> 00:29:29.000
They look like they're in a gang.
305
00:29:29.000 --> 00:29:31.000
Well, leather jackets really never go out of style.
306
00:29:31.000 --> 00:29:32.000
That's true. They don't.
307
00:29:32.000 --> 00:29:37.000
As we found out when we went thrift shopping, we found the most epic Mr. Furley leather jacket man.
308
00:29:37.000 --> 00:29:40.000
We were both fighting over it. We felt like, oh, my God.
309
00:29:40.000 --> 00:29:42.000
I wanted. I want it.
310
00:29:42.000 --> 00:29:49.000
And then Dan tried to put it on, and it was comical because it wouldn't fit over.
311
00:29:49.000 --> 00:29:50.000
It fit the rest of me.
312
00:29:50.000 --> 00:29:54.000
It. It wouldn't fit over your arms because.
313
00:29:54.000 --> 00:29:58.000
You'Re too damn big. It wouldn't fit over my arm. It wouldn't fit over my shoulders.
314
00:29:58.000 --> 00:29:59.000
It wouldn't fit over.
315
00:29:59.000 --> 00:30:04.000
It fit the skinny part. Fit that fit. It made me feel good. But.
316
00:30:04.000 --> 00:30:09.000
But you work out too much, so it wouldn't fit over your muscular body, Dan.
317
00:30:09.000 --> 00:30:11.000
It wouldn't. It wouldn't. Yeah.
318
00:30:11.000 --> 00:30:22.000
And then I. Then I realized after Dan tried to put it on, there was no way that. That my. My other body type, which is not muscular, would not fit.
319
00:30:22.000 --> 00:30:24.000
Actually hurt my shoulders to put it on.
320
00:30:24.000 --> 00:30:26.000
I was like, yeah, no, you said, ow.
321
00:30:26.000 --> 00:30:29.000
Oh, I'm stuck.
322
00:30:29.000 --> 00:30:37.000
I found you another jacket while we were there at that other. At that place, and you did not like it.
323
00:30:37.000 --> 00:31:22.000
So. Well, anyway, they're walking around and they see a news bulletin. All citizens are asked to be on the lookout for this man spotted tonight in the high bridge sector. Michael John Carter, former college football star, suspected of stealing a time machine from the space museum several months ago. Carter, who also stole some weaponry at the time, is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached. If you should spot him, please alert the police immediately. And now a word from our. Are from. What is that? Pepco Cola. Oh, okay.
324
00:31:22.000 --> 00:31:27.000
Pepcola. Oh, wow. That's a new company.
325
00:31:27.000 --> 00:31:31.000
Yeah, it's kind of a combination of all the colas into a name. All the Colas.
326
00:31:31.000 --> 00:31:43.000
Yes. I like that bottom panel. Oh. Oh, spaghetti. You're just like, huh.
327
00:31:43.000 --> 00:32:03.000
Booster is upset, and him and Trixie are now following around too. This book kind of just vacillates between Trixie and Booster's adventures in time and Jack and Rip's adventures. So one of the. So it looks like they've been found by the judges.
328
00:32:03.000 --> 00:32:18.000
Oh, no. They're gonna get judged because they got the. Well, because they're. They even say, like, hey, we got. We. We got the. The right to shoot them on site. We don't have to shoot them. Shoot them now, ask questions later. They got that.
329
00:32:18.000 --> 00:32:22.000
Well, good news. Good news. They destroyed the time bubble, so.
330
00:32:22.000 --> 00:32:24.000
Ah, no, they are stuck now.
331
00:32:24.000 --> 00:32:29.000
Yeah. How are, how are they getting home? That's impossible.
332
00:32:29.000 --> 00:32:35.000
That's when I said panel, I said, no.
333
00:32:35.000 --> 00:32:41.000
If. If anybody can't tell that this is the day after I came back from a trip based on the number of Juliet appearances.
334
00:32:41.000 --> 00:32:44.000
Oh, my gosh. Dan is wearing a dog now.
335
00:32:44.000 --> 00:32:51.000
Yeah, it's. I mean, the dog is the most entertaining part of the podcast, so let's be honest. Yeah.
336
00:32:51.000 --> 00:33:03.000
I mean, we. You, You, You. You assume that, you know, people come for the. The funny book and the forensics of. Of the podcast, but it's really. If you have video and you come from the dog.
337
00:33:03.000 --> 00:33:11.000
Yeah. I mean, it's true. Some people are saying she's the best dog. So I hear, I hear. I. I hear some people are saying.
338
00:33:11.000 --> 00:33:15.000
Yeah, I mean, it's. It's out there. That's what, that's what the folks are saying.
339
00:33:15.000 --> 00:33:19.000
9 out of 10 Dennis agree that Julia is the best dog. Yeah.
340
00:33:19.000 --> 00:33:21.000
Oh, that's. That's good.
341
00:33:21.000 --> 00:33:22.000
So. And it's.
342
00:33:22.000 --> 00:33:26.000
It's nine out of ten. Dennis is. Nine out of ten, Dennis is Agree.
343
00:33:26.000 --> 00:33:28.000
Dentists. Dentist Dennis.
344
00:33:28.000 --> 00:33:38.000
Dentist Dennis. Yeah. Nine out of ten, Dennis. Dennis. Okay, so Dennis, nine out of ten Dennis is. Say that Julia is the best dog.
345
00:33:38.000 --> 00:33:43.000
Well, I mean, that. That'd be. That's probably also true. I just haven't heard that.
346
00:33:43.000 --> 00:33:46.000
Oh, well, that's what I heard.
347
00:33:46.000 --> 00:33:52.000
Well, the police are freaking out. They're like, the area is too confined. They wreck their speeders.
348
00:33:52.000 --> 00:34:01.000
We're going to get in trouble for blowing up some stuff. We got to get into a more public space to kill him in the open.
349
00:34:01.000 --> 00:34:26.000
Trixie uses her official Cosmic Boy wave. The arms magnetic power. Oh, yeah, the circles and destroys the thing. Good news. When Dan Jurgens has probably drawn Cosmic Boy using those powers. So he. He already has it down, knows how to do. Booster is Punching people with his good arm. Yeah. They knock out the police. That seems like an effective strategy.
350
00:34:26.000 --> 00:34:27.000
Yeah.
351
00:34:26.000 --> 00:34:49.000
And then Jack, right after they leave, Rip and Jack show up. Oh, man, there's knocked out police there. And there is one blowing up time bubble. Jack says, that's it. We're done. Doomed. We're stuck here forever. Marooned in the 25th century. He goes, yeah, great movie title.
352
00:34:49.000 --> 00:34:50.000
Oh, yeah.
353
00:34:50.000 --> 00:35:12.000
And then Rip is like, ah, there's worse places we could be stuck now. So far, just saying. Yeah. Who did you think would be the long term character here? Rip Hunter. Now, if you didn't know anything about D.C. silver Age. Right. So you're. Okay, this is a kid. You don't know who this Rip Hunter guy is because there's been no reference to Rip Hunter in the Time Masters or anything like that.
354
00:35:12.000 --> 00:35:13.000
Just a guy. Just.
355
00:35:13.000 --> 00:35:24.000
Are you thinking Jack from STAR Labs is going to become the long term reoccurring character, or Rip Hunter is going to become the long term reoccurring character, or none. Or you just think it's a story? They're here.
356
00:35:24.000 --> 00:35:28.000
I'm thinking, honestly, okay. I'm looking at this and I'm like.
357
00:35:28.000 --> 00:35:29.000
These are just two side characters.
358
00:35:29.000 --> 00:35:34.000
They're just doing some stuff. It's all about Booster.
359
00:35:34.000 --> 00:35:37.000
Okay, well, we flipped the page, but.
360
00:35:37.000 --> 00:35:41.000
Then again, knowing what I know, these.
361
00:35:41.000 --> 00:35:43.000
Two get to know what you know.
362
00:35:43.000 --> 00:35:44.000
Oh, damn it.
363
00:35:43.000 --> 00:35:56.000
You don't get you. So we flipped a page and it says, it was almost 20 years ago. They framed him, disgraced him, and then they blew him to bits. Now he's back.
364
00:35:56.000 --> 00:35:57.000
He's back and he wants.
365
00:35:57.000 --> 00:36:22.000
And he may be the most powerful human being on Earth. His name is Captain Adam Captain. And he's not a. And he's not blue, and he doesn't have a giant penis flopping all over the page. But he is Captain Atom from the Charlton action heroes. Hey, just like Blue Beetle.
366
00:36:22.000 --> 00:36:24.000
Just like Blue Beetle.
367
00:36:24.000 --> 00:36:26.000
Yep. Just like Blue Beetle.
368
00:36:26.000 --> 00:36:29.000
Just like the Blue Beetle.
369
00:36:29.000 --> 00:36:55.000
So Booster's taking off. Trixie's chasing him down wearing the suit. She says, oh, great. Wonderful. I squeeze into this ridiculously tight outfit and drag myself 500 years into the future to help you, and you won't even talk to me. Well, I realize you're in pain, mister, but you're not the only one. I want to see my friends and family again. And that's going to be mighty hard to do the way things are looking now.
370
00:36:55.000 --> 00:36:59.000
Oh, no. Trix is mad.
371
00:36:59.000 --> 00:37:03.000
Now, would you consider that a guilt trip or a statement?
372
00:37:03.000 --> 00:37:14.000
Oh, well, I mean, It's a guilt trip statement.
373
00:37:14.000 --> 00:37:20.000
I mean, what would Mercy St. Clair say?
374
00:37:20.000 --> 00:37:25.000
Mercy would say guilt trip.
375
00:37:25.000 --> 00:38:03.000
Okay. Guilt trip. Well, they. He. The guilt trip works because he does start talking. He starts explaining things. He's like. She's like, oh, we should go to a doctor. And he's like, we can't do that. He's like, our first priority is to find Jack and Rip. And then they keep talking, and Trixie's like, I know. Starts making jokes. Maybe we should put ads in the classified. She's trying to lighten the situation up a little bit. And she said, seriously, though, why don't we just go to the police and explain everything and maybe they'll just help us out and basically, like, you don't understand. I'm a thief, did bad things.
376
00:38:03.000 --> 00:38:05.000
Trixie. I'm a loner.
377
00:38:05.000 --> 00:38:07.000
I'm a bad guy.
378
00:38:07.000 --> 00:38:08.000
I'm a bad dude.
379
00:38:08.000 --> 00:38:23.000
Trixie's like, ugh, you're gonna sit around and rot in some yucky jail here. What are we going to do, Booster? How are we gonna get us home? They hug, and he's like, I wish I knew. Ooh, now we flip the page and we get the.
380
00:38:23.000 --> 00:38:24.000
With the moon.
381
00:38:24.000 --> 00:38:31.000
Gotham has, like, the way they draw. This is like, Gotham City has, like, some.
382
00:38:31.000 --> 00:38:32.000
Or.
383
00:38:31.000 --> 00:38:34.000
No. Well, we're not in Gotham anymore. We're in Madrid.
384
00:38:34.000 --> 00:38:36.000
Gotham. Oh, they're now.
385
00:38:36.000 --> 00:39:12.000
They're actually not like that. I think it should have shifted. I was about to literally say, the way Gotham City is drawn, it's still drawn like Gotham City, but just with some future things around it. Then we get a building in Metropolis. It's kind of done the same way. I kind of wish, like, Metropolis had been drawn up, like, to be a little bit more futuristic, whereas Gotham still had. It looks old. Because in the future. Future, future, like the Legion future, Metropolis basically just expands to go over everything, so every. The whole, like, eastern east coast becomes Metropolis, basically.
386
00:39:12.000 --> 00:39:21.000
I mean, maybe something happened that they couldn't. They're just like, you know, they're just. They're. They're where they are.
387
00:39:21.000 --> 00:39:23.000
Maybe it was the great disaster.
388
00:39:23.000 --> 00:39:25.000
Maybe they had to rebuild a little bit.
389
00:39:25.000 --> 00:39:28.000
Maybe. Maybe it was Jonah Hex's fault.
390
00:39:28.000 --> 00:39:43.000
Could have been. Maybe a bomb went off, A nuclear bomb went off in a church, and. What? He wouldn't have said it if. He wouldn't have said it if it didn't happen, Dan.
391
00:39:43.000 --> 00:39:45.000
Okay, that's fair. Maybe that's what started the great disaster.
392
00:39:45.000 --> 00:39:51.000
You can't put it into. It's. It's. It's Chekhov's. Gun. You can't put it in Chekhov's gun.
393
00:39:51.000 --> 00:40:02.000
Well, the Gotham branch of the police are like, we're gonna take care of Booster. We've found this guy matching the descriptions. We're gonna send out the animal.
394
00:40:02.000 --> 00:40:17.000
Oh, the animal man, not the animal. I, I like him. When he plays drums, he's really good. But when he's not playing the drums, he can get kind of, kind of wild and all that.
395
00:40:17.000 --> 00:40:28.000
Well, what you see is he's sick and tired of the midnight express and he's gonna take out that terrible, terrible Jim Cornette. Well, tell him, Hawk.
396
00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:31.000
Oh, man.
397
00:40:31.000 --> 00:40:33.000
Oh, it's not either of those animals.
398
00:40:33.000 --> 00:40:35.000
No, I don't think it's either of those animals.
399
00:40:35.000 --> 00:40:41.000
Oh, okay. Well, but then they send out the animal.
400
00:40:41.000 --> 00:40:45.000
He kind of. He kind of looks like George the Animal a little bit.
401
00:40:45.000 --> 00:40:47.000
That wasn't George the Animal Steel.
402
00:40:47.000 --> 00:40:49.000
Oh, it wasn't.
403
00:40:49.000 --> 00:40:55.000
That was Road Warrior animal. Oh. Why would George the Animal Steel be talking to Hawk?
404
00:40:55.000 --> 00:41:00.000
I don't know.
405
00:41:00.000 --> 00:41:04.000
George the Animal Steel doesn't really even talk.
406
00:41:04.000 --> 00:41:12.000
That's what I. Yeah, well, that's why Georgia Animal Steel and this guy are very similar. They don't talk. They got bald heads.
407
00:41:12.000 --> 00:41:34.000
Well, the scientists. The scientists do what all scientists do when they need to find a problem, an answer to a problem in finding 500 years from now. They grab a tablet and they start looking up research. Right. Yeah, no, they go to the Gotham University library.
408
00:41:34.000 --> 00:41:36.000
Yeah, of course.
409
00:41:36.000 --> 00:41:42.000
That has books as books. And they find a librarian.
410
00:41:42.000 --> 00:41:45.000
Yeah. Who. She looks like she went to the.
411
00:41:45.000 --> 00:41:57.000
Sticks concert or she is. She either went to the Sticks concert or she is a significantly aged Annie Potts from Ghostbusters.
412
00:41:57.000 --> 00:42:01.000
Oh, me. Now, I think she's the. She's the ghost in the library.
413
00:42:01.000 --> 00:42:10.000
Is the significantly aged Annie Potts in real life didn't look like this. But if you took her character, if you took Janine from Ghostbusters, she would have looked like this.
414
00:42:10.000 --> 00:42:18.000
Yeah, probably Annie Potts still looking like very, very good.
415
00:42:18.000 --> 00:42:20.000
Any. Potts is a national treasure.
416
00:42:20.000 --> 00:42:32.000
She is, she's. And hilarious. Like I watching a new show with her in it and was like, I'm trying to think. I can't think of the name show. It's very much like Northern Exposure set on the east Coast.
417
00:42:32.000 --> 00:42:39.000
But I think Annie Potts could become the Betty White. Oh gosh, like Betty White type.
418
00:42:39.000 --> 00:42:47.000
Yeah, yeah. She's got good range. She's hilarious and just. You're right, she's a national treasure.
419
00:42:47.000 --> 00:43:06.000
She really is going to keep picking up more Things as she ages because her humor style is timeless. Yeah. Yeah. That's a great spot to be in. Well, Jack and Jack And Jack and Jack and Rip. Jack and Rip.
420
00:43:06.000 --> 00:43:08.000
Jack and Rip.
421
00:43:08.000 --> 00:43:16.000
Find Jack and Dan. Jack and Rip. Find a. A terminal to access LexisNexis.
422
00:43:16.000 --> 00:43:24.000
Oh, yeah, yeah. They're. They're. They're getting into LexisNexis there. They're. They're asking it all the questions to get all the answers.
423
00:43:24.000 --> 00:43:30.000
You know, if people didn't do debate or go to a library in the, like, early 1990s, they have no idea what we're talking about.
424
00:43:30.000 --> 00:43:33.000
They're like, what are you talking about?
425
00:43:33.000 --> 00:44:43.000
Lawyers out there. Yeah, lawyers out there. Please explain, like, Westlaw and Lexus Nexus to everybody so we don't have to. Also, we can explain that when we went to the library, we didn't have LexisNexis at our community college, so we had to go get discs. We had to wait for them to be sent to the library, and they came monthly, and then we had to put them in and hunt for them. It was very exciting. I very much liked going to other schools and getting access to LexisNexis or getting a password from somebody. Yeah. If I could pull that off. It was. Yeah, it was like the way we found news and stuff before you had access to, say, the Internet and all of the Internet or the Internet as it is today. And I do like the concept here that in the 30th century, they. They don't need this stuff. But in the this century, based on this comic book story, they still need, like, these large terminals to access things. It's just kind of interesting. And, well, Jack goes to access their records on time travel, and they're like, oh, federal access only.
426
00:44:43.000 --> 00:44:46.000
Can't get in. Denied.
427
00:44:46.000 --> 00:44:54.000
And Rip's RIP concludes. This is why Rip is such a brilliant time traveler. He concludes that apparently time travel is considered a government secret.
428
00:44:54.000 --> 00:44:55.000
Oh.
429
00:44:54.000 --> 00:45:01.000
Not surprising when one considers the consequences of time machines falling into the wrong hands. Like, Rip. No.
430
00:45:01.000 --> 00:45:07.000
Bad stuff can happen, people. Wait, you said falling into the hands of Rip Hunter?
431
00:45:07.000 --> 00:45:08.000
Yeah.
432
00:45:08.000 --> 00:45:10.000
Is he a bad guy?
433
00:45:10.000 --> 00:45:11.000
I don't know.
434
00:45:11.000 --> 00:45:13.000
He do bad things, Dan?
435
00:45:13.000 --> 00:45:21.000
Well, they started doing some research back in 1986, and they find out, ah, you were right. Data lost due to a nuclear conflict.
436
00:45:21.000 --> 00:45:22.000
Holy crap.
437
00:45:22.000 --> 00:46:04.000
Everybody in DC Comics, that was known as the Great Disaster, so. Great Disaster. That's how they. Well, that's how they would. It was. It was a. I mean, so it came out of Kirby, because that's how you Got the last boy on Earth. Yeah, yeah, you got Commandee, Right, yeah, but so they kind of used that. But then they kept using that concept. So, like, the Legion didn't have to account for things that happened between the time and the time. And so as time went forward, D.C. could just say, well, if they change their universe or whatever. Oh, well, the Great Disaster didn't let them know what was happening, so they couldn't.
438
00:46:04.000 --> 00:46:06.000
All the records wouldn't have known.
439
00:46:06.000 --> 00:46:34.000
Yeah, it's just. It was just a writing device, and they used it lots of places and used it when it was convenient. So here it was very convenient to use. But that does explain some things too, because Rip's like, answers the question I've had about the buildings. Ah, nuclear conflict. They probably had to spend years rebuilding. That's why they're not more advanced here. Okay, so we've got some advancements, but we don't have some other advancements.
440
00:46:34.000 --> 00:46:37.000
Somebody put too much popcorn in the microwave again.
441
00:46:37.000 --> 00:47:01.000
And Booster still just whining about everything he did wrong. We got to get some clothes. I made my mom die. I got to find my sister. Is terrible. I'm a terrible son and terrible human being. And while he's standing there, he gets tapped on the shoulder and somebody says, freeze.
442
00:47:01.000 --> 00:47:03.000
Oh.
443
00:47:03.000 --> 00:47:13.000
And now, is it just me, or does the animal look like Sarak, except he doesn't have the half robot body?
444
00:47:13.000 --> 00:47:16.000
Yeah, kinda. Yeah, a little bit.
445
00:47:16.000 --> 00:47:25.000
I mean, it's basically the same outfit, except it's purple and green instead of yellow. Right? And yeah, yeah, I can see that. The same angry, evil villain face.
446
00:47:25.000 --> 00:47:27.000
Yeah, yeah.
447
00:47:27.000 --> 00:48:02.000
Well, Animal is being told what to do by the police captain, and he just goes after Booster. He grabs him. And now Trixie's like, oh, it's up to me to do something. I've got to solve the problem. And she uses her magnetic powers to, like, push Animal back. They start to get the upper hand on him, and he hits Trixie with something. Yeah, and that freaks Booster off. Freaks Booster off, freaks, Freaks Booster out.
448
00:48:02.000 --> 00:48:08.000
It freaks him off. Man, it gets him. He's in a dance competition, and it's like a free. Wait, no.
449
00:48:08.000 --> 00:48:25.000
What? Well, we flip the page and we get the Doomsday book Mystery so strange. It takes the greatest detective of all time to solve. Looks like we have A Detective Comics 50th anniversary story number 572.
450
00:48:25.000 --> 00:48:27.000
Getting all the detectives in there.
451
00:48:27.000 --> 00:48:41.000
Mike Barr. Mike W. Barr doing some stuff in it. Looks like there's some Carmen Infantino art in this book. Alan Davis is doing stuff in this. It looks like in this book, you're gonna get Batman and Robin.
452
00:48:41.000 --> 00:48:42.000
Yeah.
453
00:48:42.000 --> 00:48:52.000
Maybe some Sherlock Holmes, huh? And the best detective of them all, the man whose nose twitches which when he smells a mystery.
454
00:48:52.000 --> 00:48:53.000
Huh?
455
00:48:52.000 --> 00:48:58.000
The one and the only Elongated Man, Ralph Dibney.
456
00:48:58.000 --> 00:48:59.000
Oh, my goodness.
457
00:48:59.000 --> 00:49:04.000
Who belongs in a Batman book more than Elongated Man?
458
00:49:04.000 --> 00:49:06.000
I don't know.
459
00:49:06.000 --> 00:49:08.000
I can't think of anybody.
460
00:49:08.000 --> 00:49:12.000
Yeah, no, it's good stuff.
461
00:49:12.000 --> 00:49:16.000
Your nose twitching. There's no mysteries around you.
462
00:49:16.000 --> 00:49:18.000
Nobody's Jews around me.
463
00:49:18.000 --> 00:49:59.000
Well, Booster, intelligently. Because when I think of fighting skill or fighting style, planning, thorough processing of the brain and intelligence, I think of Booster number one. He reacts to Trixie and just flies straight into Animal. And a animal immediately grabs him and starts choking him out. That leaves Trixie to wake up and start using her magnetic powers. She accidentally blows up the entire boat they're on. No, it's not necessarily the best thing. And. But it knocks out Animal and he doesn't die because we have to make sure that you don't kill people on accident. So they get Animal out of the water.
464
00:49:59.000 --> 00:50:00.000
Yeah.
465
00:50:00.000 --> 00:50:34.000
Booster seems to be okay. The police cap are like, is this some kind of trick? Jump on her while we have the chance. And the captain's like, hold it, Feral. Give her a minute or two so she can pull the guy out of the water. All right. Now that she's done that, all right, we'll get her. And Booster's like, oh, sure, run away. I may be a jerk sometimes, but I'm not a total sludge. We're in this together. So now they have been arrested, so. ID confirmed. John Michael Carter. Michael. John Carter. I messed it up.
466
00:50:34.000 --> 00:50:35.000
Yeah.
467
00:50:35.000 --> 00:50:44.000
And we got Jane Doe. Jane Doe's last appearance was in Galaxy Quest.
468
00:50:44.000 --> 00:50:45.000
Oh, yeah.
469
00:50:44.000 --> 00:50:55.000
As a new member of the crew, as you'll recall. Yeah. At the end. Yeah. So that was. That sounds good.
470
00:50:55.000 --> 00:50:56.000
Totally.
471
00:50:56.000 --> 00:51:04.000
She was debating she was dating Fred Chen. Correct. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tech Sergeant Chen.
472
00:51:04.000 --> 00:51:06.000
Excursion chain. Yeah.
473
00:51:06.000 --> 00:51:21.000
And so off that appearance from Galaxy Quest, we have Jane Doe here. They seem to be a little bit of a different vibe, though. Maybe Jane's changed a lot. She doesn't seem to have tentacles coming out for backside or anything like that.
474
00:51:21.000 --> 00:51:24.000
No.
475
00:51:24.000 --> 00:51:29.000
That'S what we should do. We should. You know, we should have a Galaxy Quest viewing party one night.
476
00:51:29.000 --> 00:51:32.000
Yeah.
477
00:51:32.000 --> 00:51:35.000
Good show. But you're backing off. You're like, it's good. It's fine.
478
00:51:35.000 --> 00:51:37.000
I said no. I said, good, good.
479
00:51:37.000 --> 00:51:43.000
And the lead is now an. But everybody else in the movie is awesome.
480
00:51:43.000 --> 00:51:44.000
Yeah.
481
00:51:44.000 --> 00:52:07.000
So we get back. And they're interrogating them and she's like, we'll tell you everything. Trixie is. But you got to give Booster some medical attention. Is getting stuff done. And then the police captain's like, he doesn't get so much as a band aid until I've had a crack at him.
482
00:52:07.000 --> 00:52:11.000
Oh.
483
00:52:11.000 --> 00:52:30.000
The other police guy says, broad, rck, this case is under local jurisdiction. He's like, no, it's not. It's under federal jurisdiction. And after all, if you're a federal officer, see, you have absolute immunity and power to do anything you want. Oh, I mean, I don't want to talk about that.
484
00:52:30.000 --> 00:52:34.000
Yeah, no, but I mean, right? He does kind of go down the path.
485
00:52:34.000 --> 00:52:36.000
He kind of does go down that path.
486
00:52:36.000 --> 00:52:38.000
Yeah.
487
00:52:38.000 --> 00:53:14.000
And so anyway, then he starts beating up Booster. Not so good. We flip the page and we find out the world's mightiest mortal is just a kid at heart. Oh, from Legends. Remember that? We were talking about that miniseries. We were Legends. To the all new Justice League. Now in his own four part miniseries by Roy, the creator of Wolverine, Thomas and Dan Thomas. Remember Roy Thomas, the creator of Wolverine? Yeah, because he edited the books. Yeah.
488
00:53:14.000 --> 00:53:16.000
And his music's good too.
489
00:53:16.000 --> 00:53:58.000
Yeah, it's good. You know, I keep dogging on Roy Thomas and I shouldn't. I keep making this joke about the Wolverine thing. You know, it really annoys me that he said that, but I need to stop dogging him out on it because he's done so much for comics history and stuff like that. Yeah, I have all. I have tons of his stuff. I don't know, that comment just made me really mad because it just seems so out of character for him too. I mean, and I don't know him, you know, I've never worked with him. So for me, I'm reading all this stuff from a historian, from a writer I've read growing up from me knowing he was that editor at dc. And then every time I see his name now, I'm just like dogging him out for that one comment he made.
490
00:53:58.000 --> 00:54:02.000
Goodness gracious. You hold. You hold to it each and every.
491
00:54:02.000 --> 00:54:19.000
I do. Well, Tom Mandrake helped with this one too. So we got some cool art at least. Anyway. Shazam. The new beginning. Because we can't have Captain Marvel because we let the copyright lapse or the trademark lapse, and Marvel picked it up and made their own Captain Marvel, which was genius.
492
00:54:19.000 --> 00:54:20.000
Shazam.
493
00:54:20.000 --> 00:54:44.000
We also get. Come join the DC Universe for just 75 cents a month or that's a steal. You can have your favorite heroes come to your door. The first subscription is just $9, but remember, the more you order, the more you save. If you order two or more titles, you can receive your comics delivered for just $8 per title. Whoa. Oh, man. So do you know what you could buy right now?
494
00:54:44.000 --> 00:54:47.000
If I bought all these back then?
495
00:54:47.000 --> 00:54:50.000
A lot. You could buy a lot of comics.
496
00:54:50.000 --> 00:54:52.000
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
497
00:54:52.000 --> 00:55:20.000
And these were the newsstand books. So that's why you get like Tales of the Teen Titans, Tales of Legion. So these weren't the direct sales books. So it is interesting, by the way, not confusing at all. But if you're a little kid picking up these books, you can order Tales of the Teen Titans delivered straight to your door or Tales of Legion of Superheroes off this list. But you had to get on a different list to order their actual monthly book with the new stories. Man, that's not confusing, right?
498
00:55:20.000 --> 00:55:26.000
Not at all. Why is this book so different than the one that I was getting before.
499
00:55:26.000 --> 00:55:58.000
Adventure of the Outsiders too? So they're doing it that well. It was back to that whole thing about that approach, right? That direct sale approach. And yeah, it did make it also that whole taking your before top two selling titles and then just making shit really confusing for them, like making them difficult to get. It doesn't. Well, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless. Unless we were talking to this. Actually, I'll just say the creator's name, but we'll talk about more about him later. We were talking to a creator with his first writing credit at IDW last month, Alan Wu.
500
00:55:58.000 --> 00:56:01.000
Not IDW or not idw.
501
00:56:01.000 --> 00:56:02.000
Sorry. Onypress.
502
00:56:02.000 --> 00:56:03.000
Onypress.
503
00:56:03.000 --> 00:56:06.000
Yeah, IDW is Brian's work.
504
00:56:06.000 --> 00:56:07.000
Yeah, Brian's work. Yes.
505
00:56:07.000 --> 00:56:09.000
Yeah.
506
00:56:09.000 --> 00:56:10.000
Yes, he's.
507
00:56:09.000 --> 00:57:56.000
And we were talking. We were talking with him about some old comics because Alan picked up comics a little bit later and. But we were talking about, you know, how Teen Titans. And of course Travis had to chime in because he had a debate with somebody once about Teen Titans, but how Teen Titans, Back Again and Legion were the best selling books in this whole direct thing. And. But we took it from a different angle. It wasn't just Dan's normal. My normal rant about taking things direct sale. It was like, well, if those are your top two selling books, did they want to reset the universe so their main IP properties could then go center stage? Right. So, you know, after Crisis, they put John Byrne on Superman, they put George Perez on Wonder Woman. Batman's already rolling after. After having Batman's rolling after Dark Knight Returns. Right. So the tension on the character again. And then she'll have the Jason Todd call the number thing, which I don't know if that's great storytelling, but did get attention on the character. Right, right. And so, you know, was it smart of them? Hey, it's great that these other two books are popular, but was it the best thing for DC's long term business to have Teen Titans and Legion of Superheroes being your top selling books, or was it in their best interest to have their big three IPs be their best selling books? And then they're going to relaunch Flash, what, a year and a couple years? Well, Wally's already out. Have they already relaunched Flash? It was around 87, I think. And then they relaunched Green Lantern in what, like 90, 91. And so, well, they do the Emerald dawn thing and then they do the series relaunch. Right. So, you know, they are going kind of after these big IPs kind of one at a time and getting them.
508
00:57:56.000 --> 00:57:59.000
Back out there, moving them forward.
509
00:57:59.000 --> 00:58:14.000
Yeah. And then they took the risk with the other two. And so, I mean, it probably does make more of a sense to take the risk with those other IPs than it does your big ones. And obviously long term, but it's still just hurts as a little kid fan because I was trying to read my favorite thing.
510
00:58:14.000 --> 00:58:16.000
You're like, why can't I read it.
511
00:58:16.000 --> 00:59:10.000
All and why can't I easily get this stuff and why do I have to drive 45 or not 45 minutes, but 40 minutes to go get a comic book now? And you know, just. Anyway, it took. Yeah, it also got me into comics because I started going to a used comic shop and looking at all the old comics. So, I mean, there's side benefits of it too, but I mean, it's just. I don't know, I've always wondered if it was the right strategy. And we were just talking, you know, we weren't the only ones to bring it up, but Alan brought it up as well, you know, for the first time in 30 years. So I've confirmed it now. DC ish years. DC outsold Marvel Comics in 2025. And you know, hindsight, I mean, I think it probably was the best strategy maybe to get those IPs back out there, but it still didn't ultimately put them ahead in the comic book war. And Marvel still held the lead for a long time.
512
00:59:10.000 --> 00:59:12.000
Held the lead for a long time, for sure.
513
00:59:12.000 --> 00:59:18.000
So it didn't necessarily work. And they're trying.
514
00:59:18.000 --> 00:59:30.000
I think that we'll see what the future holds that it might, might see a little bit of a pivot with readership and other things like that as they.
515
00:59:30.000 --> 00:59:33.000
The future past feature or the future future of now future.
516
00:59:33.000 --> 00:59:39.000
The future future of now feature. I mean, just seeing what, what happens in the next year or two with.
517
00:59:39.000 --> 01:00:07.000
Yeah, I, I don't, I'm, I'm under no illusion that DC is going to hold the long term lead here in the comics war. I, I think this may be a blip, but the, the note, the thing that they are putting out, I mean, they, they, they did it, they put out. Instead of trying to strengthen the old IPs, they put out. They basically, I mean, Marvel did it a long. You know, they did absolutely absolute universe. Generated a lot of interest and telling these stories in a different way.
518
01:00:07.000 --> 01:00:08.000
Yeah.
519
01:00:08.000 --> 01:00:23.000
Generated interest in putting a change on these characters and introducing them in a different way. And while personally I would love it if it wasn't absolute Batman and absolute Superman, but we actually had new characters and new stories out there, Right.
520
01:00:23.000 --> 01:00:25.000
Like it was absolute Jonah.
521
01:00:25.000 --> 01:01:56.000
Yeah, I don't want absolute anything. You know, I, I want, I use, I would love it to be like a new property, right. That took off, but. Well, that would be my preference. But again, we were talking about this. I dog on Scott Snyder because I don't get his writing, but clearly everybody else does and he's done some really great things. It was fun to talk to. I said we'd talk about Alan some other time. So we'll introduce who Alan is later in more detail. But it was fun to talk to another creator because I'm of, of you, Travis, and I, I'm reading the most new comics, right? So Alan's reading new comics too. And so it's fun to talk to somebody about new comics because he's like, oh, this is really good. And I'm like, oh, yeah, it's really good. And it was. Because I'm always talking, oh, well, Mark Wade's doing all this stuff now. And you and Travis are kind of like, Mark Wade is doing new stuff. And Alan was like, no, the Mark Wade stuff is, is working. Right. And the Scott Snyder stuff is working. And of course he mentioned Dan Mora drawing every cover. I think the first thing I said when I said DC is like, and Dan Mora, the artist for dc. Right. Like drawing so much. But it is neat to see these creators pop. And I've mentioned Joshua Williamson too, who will also be doing the new Legion series. Hooray. But deserves a lot of credit for creating these Universes. And of course there's a lot of other creators too that do. But those three seem to powered a lot of the sales run.
522
01:01:56.000 --> 01:01:57.000
Oh.
523
01:01:57.000 --> 01:02:59.000
As far as the writing side of it is concerned. And then Dan Mora has powered a lot of the art side a lot. And you know, good for them. It's good. And honestly, coming out too of maybe one of their biggest failed experiments of Bendis is back. Bendis is here doing the literal Jack Kirby write up for Michael, Brian Michael Bendis. I mean they were literally, they literally replicated the Kirby is Coming ads and did Bendis is coming right when they hired. And that was an abject business failure. I can get into whether it's not, it's a creative failure or not. I can say for the Legion of Superheroes it was a creative failure. I don't think I agree with that for everything he did at DC necessarily. But with all that, you know, fanfare and we're, you know, it was another, we're going to bring over this Marvel person and we're going to get Marvel. Right. And it turns out, it turns out a couple of the creators that they've kept mostly in house. Right. Scott Joshua Williamson.
524
01:02:59.000 --> 01:03:00.000
Yeah.
525
01:02:59.000 --> 01:03:07.000
And then bringing back Mark Waid, who obviously has done a lot of Marvel. But when people think of Mark Waid, he broke in with dc.
526
01:03:07.000 --> 01:03:08.000
Yeah.
527
01:03:08.000 --> 01:03:26.000
Flash, obviously, Kingdom Come, you think of Mark Wade as a DC guy, even though his Fantastic Four run was great. And there's lots of other things. Mark Wade's done a lot in the industry. Yeah. But you either think of him as an independent creator. Right. Or a DC guy. Right. I don't think most people think Mark Wade, Marvel guy.
528
01:03:26.000 --> 01:03:28.000
I think of him as an Archie guy.
529
01:03:28.000 --> 01:03:39.000
He's an Archie guy. Yeah, that's true. I mean, it's also good. Well, that's why I mentioned a lot. So I guess we, I don't know that we label Mark Waid. See, I do because he did so much with D.C. early on.
530
01:03:39.000 --> 01:03:40.000
Yeah.
531
01:03:39.000 --> 01:04:40.000
And he did editing for them and he knows those characters. Right. And he did Legion, he did Flash, he did a lot of different things for DC early. So it's full circle. Right. So he comes back. So it's like you have their in house folks building these great stories back with another creator who comes back into the fold. Right. But loves, loves the DC IPs and you know, they build this really cool storytelling and really interesting and we'll see how it ends up. I mean, we're, we're starting to wrap up this all in storyline getting they're starting to. They're starting to try to figure out what's happening with Darkseid. They're doing this whole dcko thing, which is all right, but I'm loving it because the Legion is back. But it's an interesting time. And we're back here with these comics here that we're in right now. And DC's getting their ass kicked. Right. I mean, just getting destroyed by Marvel in the 80s. In the 80s, in 1987.
532
01:04:40.000 --> 01:05:09.000
And I think, like, one of the things too, that's, that's also driving is the fact that they're putting out other products that I say products, other, other things that drive people to find their comics. So anything in the, in their movies, in their television, video games, anything like that is driving people now to the comic. Yeah, right now that's what's been driving.
533
01:05:09.000 --> 01:05:17.000
Well, okay, so here's where they finally did it. Right. DC was awful about getting the movies to align with the comics.
534
01:05:17.000 --> 01:05:23.000
Yeah, I'm not saying they're aligning with the comics. I'm just saying they're putting out stuff that's getting people interested.
535
01:05:23.000 --> 01:05:25.000
Oh, now, now they are.
536
01:05:25.000 --> 01:05:27.000
In the last five years, I would.
537
01:05:27.000 --> 01:05:29.000
I would say in the last year.
538
01:05:29.000 --> 01:06:20.000
Well, it doesn't matter if you think they're good or bad. I'm just saying that. And I'm saying that directly to you. I'm saying that they have things out there that are getting people interested and getting people to want to go read those things. So it doesn't necessarily matter if it's good or bad. I'm just saying, you know, and that's, that's an opinion that there's, there's things out there that people are watching or playing and they're saying, oh, I wonder if this book is something I'd like to pick up. I just played Gotham Knights or I just played LEGO Batman or LEGO League, Justice League or something like that. And. Or I just watched this really great animated movie that was all about this and.
539
01:06:20.000 --> 01:06:21.000
Yeah. Or.
540
01:06:21.000 --> 01:06:26.000
Or I watched the live action new Superman and now I'm interested.
541
01:06:26.000 --> 01:06:35.000
Well, that's what I was going to say. It was. The Superman marketing. Spot on. Was spot on. Aligned with also featuring Superman in the universe. Right.
542
01:06:35.000 --> 01:06:37.000
But it makes him a good job.
543
01:06:37.000 --> 01:06:38.000
Doing them both at the same time.
544
01:06:38.000 --> 01:07:18.000
And I think, like, when we talk about, like in the past, like past episode, we talked about superheroes with supporting cast being there for a solo superhero or a superhero that has support. I think in that movie specifically, he had such a great support cast, both in his regular life and in the superhero life as well. And it made people want to read those other books, like, pick up a hot girl book. Pick up, you know, any. Anything else. They're just like, oh, wow, I gotta find out more about this character. So, you know.
545
01:07:18.000 --> 01:08:10.000
Yeah. One, I. And that's the reason I started arguing with you about it was because I felt like a lot of times their marketing didn't align with the comics well. And didn't actually end up promoting them because, you know, a movie would come out and the movie was, I think, in the Snyderverse a lot of the time, too. The movies were so far away from what the comics were doing or from the heart of the characters that they didn't align. Right. And so I wasn't the way. I would agree with you in the way you were thinking, like, it's more of a. The cartoons lately in the video games. I was thinking about, like, the last group of movies when I had that visceral reaction because I was like, the last group of movies did all to. To some comics, and I would argue they were almost negative because they had so much bad buzz with them. They were actually turning people away from the characters.
546
01:08:10.000 --> 01:08:27.000
I mean, you. You read, you watch. You watch any of the. Any of the movies, like, if you watch Birds of Prayer or something like that, you know, even though it's not relatively like. It's. I shouldn't say Birds of Prayer, but you. You watch any of those movies and.
547
01:08:27.000 --> 01:08:31.000
They'Re like, you're proving the point.
548
01:08:31.000 --> 01:08:34.000
No, well, no, I'm not saying. I'm not saying it's bad.
549
01:08:34.000 --> 01:08:35.000
I'm not saying.
550
01:08:34.000 --> 01:09:41.000
And I'm not saying that it. It. It doesn't necessarily. It doesn't correlate with the comics. But you're. Because it doesn't. It doesn't. But point is, it draws people in to go check out those things and it gives them that, oh, maybe I should go check it out. I like this. Or I didn't, you know, it. Same thing with any of those other movies that came in the last five years. I mean, I talked to a number of different people that had no interest in comics at all that watched a movie and they liked a character from that movie. They might not have liked the whole movie, but they liked a character. And then they went and found that book. So you can totally hate a movie, but you might find a character you want to know more about. You know, So, I mean, that's the point I'm making. They might not have hit the home run out with every movie in the last five years. But they're making things that drew people in and made them want to go find other things. And that's what's gotten them to the point where they are today.
551
01:09:41.000 --> 01:10:32.000
Though, on the other side of the argument, the Absolute Books were driving a lot of the sales. And the Absolute books had nothing to do with the marketing blitz at all. That was like an organic reader, reader driven. Like, let's go grab these things. And the two things both had to happen for the sales thing to happen, right? Like the Summer of Superman stuff. Bringing back Mark Waid to Superman. Right. Rebuild Joshua Williamson's great writing, them. Rebuilding that universe. They brought Dan Slott over to do a Superman book, which is a big get. So you're drawing in, you know, you're getting creators that fans love. Right. And bringing them in. But also. But then the Absolute books really drove those sales, too. So they had that combination, you know, that everything kind of moved together for them.
552
01:10:32.000 --> 01:11:29.000
To your point, though, about it not being. If there. It's an organic thing. It is organic. But say you're a person that just watched a movie, you come into a shop, you pick up a book that's related to the movie that you're. That you're excited about, and someone at the shop notices that you're picking up a DC book and this new Absolute book is out, and they make a suggestion, hey, if you're picking up this book, these other books are also new and they're. They're not the same, but it might be interesting to you, so you might pick up one and check it out. So it is kind of organic, but it's also, in a sense, like, if you never had watched that movie, you never wanted to come in and pick up that book, you never would have gone to the shop and you never would have been suggested the other book to pick up with the book you're picking up. So, I mean, there.
553
01:11:29.000 --> 01:11:31.000
It's a.
554
01:11:31.000 --> 01:11:40.000
There's. There's a cause and effect to the thing. Right. And it didn't all happen in one year. It happened over a series of time.
555
01:11:40.000 --> 01:12:04.000
Yeah, no, that's fair. And. No, that's absolutely fair. And, you know, I kind of think of it as, like. I don't know. Yeah, I just. And you're probably. I mean, I can't argue with your point. I've just had such a negative in my mind response to.
556
01:12:04.000 --> 01:12:05.000
I know.
557
01:12:04.000 --> 01:12:11.000
The way you have done some. Well, yeah, because I want it to be good. And when it's bad, then it makes me Sad.
558
01:12:11.000 --> 01:12:21.000
And I mean not every movie out there can be the Blue Beetle for you, Dan. I know it can't be that and you can't be excited about it now.
559
01:12:21.000 --> 01:12:25.000
I'm just cussing like, yeah, it's, it's.
560
01:12:25.000 --> 01:12:31.000
But how many people, how many people got excited about the. Because they saw the marketing and then went out and actually bought the.
561
01:12:31.000 --> 01:12:37.000
Well, based on, based on the crossover to the comics? Absolutely no one.
562
01:12:37.000 --> 01:12:41.000
But they, but went back and bought the good book.
563
01:12:41.000 --> 01:12:43.000
No one.
564
01:12:43.000 --> 01:12:44.000
No one.
565
01:12:43.000 --> 01:12:51.000
Okay, but. Yeah, really? But okay, but it has happened with other books. Yes.
566
01:12:51.000 --> 01:13:00.000
I'm imagining people, I'm imagining people decided that they wanted to go check out where, where the, the source material came from.
567
01:13:00.000 --> 01:13:03.000
I may. Came from. I wish more did. I wish more did.
568
01:13:03.000 --> 01:13:05.000
I'm sure they did.
569
01:13:05.000 --> 01:13:15.000
I wish. Yeah, I just, I gen. Genuinely, you know me, I, you know how much I love the character. I wish More did. I mean that's one of the ones that depresses me the most because I'm like that, that is a character that.
570
01:13:15.000 --> 01:13:16.000
Yeah, it's great.
571
01:13:16.000 --> 01:13:18.000
Should be headlining.
572
01:13:18.000 --> 01:13:24.000
And I, I mean honestly, I had a good time watching the movie. So.
573
01:13:24.000 --> 01:14:30.000
Yeah. And you know, we're going back to, we're talking about that sales strategy. So let's go back to the 80s because I, I pulled up the numbers from Comic Con. We're talking about that relaunch strategy. So January 86, top selling book X. X factor number four at 58,000, 56,000 units. X factor number five. And this is only from Capital City. So it's not all. That's only from direct sale distribution. I want to be very clear. So it's not all the books because that's where we can get the numbers. Right. So this is from Capital City distribution is a precursor to diamond for people that don't know. So yeah, Capital City selling to shops. This is what the shops are grabbing. So there's a bias there too. But X Factor January 86, X Factor 4. January, February 86, X Factor 5, March of 86, Uncanny 207. April 86, Uncanny 208. These are the number one books of the month. Surprisingly and kind of crazy to me, I guess because they've made a number one. May 86 classic X Men, a reprint book. Number one is the top selling book.
574
01:14:30.000 --> 01:14:32.000
Yeah.
575
01:14:32.000 --> 01:15:58.000
And then June of 86. So maybe DC strategy was correct here. The man of Steel miniseries, man of steel number one, the top selling book in 86 selling 125,000 copies direct sale, which is over double any of the top selling books from the first five months. July 86, man of Steel 3, top selling book. They were coming out twice a month. August 86, man of Steel number five, the top selling book. September 86, Superman volume two, number one, the best selling book. But then to argue back and to see if the strategy succeeded with putting Burn there. Superman number one, 91,000 copies. Man of Steel number five, 81,000 copies. October 86, the best selling book. Superman volume two, number two, 59,000 copies. So by the second issue of Superman in Burns run, it dropped in half. And then November of 86, we're back to Uncanny X Men at 58,400 copies being the top selling book, 215 and Uncanny 216. So they did build the momentum for a second. But I would argue in my humble opinion, based off mediocre storytelling, they weren't able to capture. Capture. Right.
576
01:15:58.000 --> 01:16:00.000
Yeah.
577
01:16:00.000 --> 01:16:16.000
And that's unfortunate. And also, and I know, I mean it pains me to say this, but we read The Wonder Woman's 2The Wonder Woman issues the next year and yeah, I'm sure those caught the prez. Art's beautiful, but the story is it.
578
01:16:16.000 --> 01:16:33.000
It'S, it's a lot, it's, it's a lot to take in. And if that's not what you want to do, if you're not looking for a meal, you're just looking for a sandwich, then it's too much.
579
01:16:33.000 --> 01:16:40.000
And I pulled up the 1987 numbers for both diamond and Capital City, our top selling books.
580
01:16:40.000 --> 01:16:41.000
Excellent.
581
01:16:41.000 --> 01:16:49.000
For diamond, it only has from June because that's when diamond was starting out. It's all. Uncanny is a top selling book every month.
582
01:16:49.000 --> 01:16:51.000
Yeah.
583
01:16:51.000 --> 01:17:11.000
For Capital City. Uncanny, Uncanny. Punisher, Uncanny. Uncanny. Amazing Spider Man. Uncanny, Uncanny, Uncanny. Uncanny, Uncanny, Uncanny, Uncanny. So Wonder Woman's not up there. None of the other relaunches are up there. So it is back to just dominance by Marvel at the top.
584
01:17:11.000 --> 01:17:33.000
And it's, I think that's also like there, there's gotta be like a testament to like what people were ordering or being told to order at the time. Because like when you hit the newsstand or you hit the spinner rack and whatnot back then, I mean it was just chock full of X Men books.
585
01:17:33.000 --> 01:17:37.000
Because it's best selling book. And so if it's the best selling.
586
01:17:37.000 --> 01:17:45.000
Book, you gotta buy it. You gotta buy eight copies of this and you know, a couple of those and a couple of these and forget the rest of those things because nobody cares.
587
01:17:45.000 --> 01:17:52.000
And the only thing that dented the top Number one was the wedding. The Spider man wedding.
588
01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:53.000
Spider man wedding, yeah.
589
01:17:53.000 --> 01:17:55.000
Yeah. The annual 21.
590
01:17:55.000 --> 01:17:56.000
Oh.
591
01:17:56.000 --> 01:18:02.000
So you know they mentioned Watchmen getting up there for the trade.
592
01:18:02.000 --> 01:18:03.000
Yeah.
593
01:18:03.000 --> 01:18:24.000
So, yeah. And it said September 87, Watchmen Trade debuted at 1495. It did not make the top 100 for units, but it was the number two dollar producer in September. So it didn't sell as many of it because it was selling for 14.95. So it netted a lot of money. Yeah.
594
01:18:24.000 --> 01:18:26.000
To go buy it and buy that with my own money.
595
01:18:26.000 --> 01:18:38.000
Yeah. But. And then. So obviously. But again, not part of that grander D.C. strategy either, of getting the big IPS off the ground. Like Watchmen was not the big IP book.
596
01:18:38.000 --> 01:18:39.000
No.
597
01:18:39.000 --> 01:19:18.000
And because of Watchmen and obviously those books, we get the Vertigo imprint later. But again, thinking about. We were talking specifically about this strategy, right. Of like kind of jettison these other books to the sideline and going back to your core ip, going back to Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman. And it didn't work. And I think there's a lot of reasons it didn't work. And again too, I trash the burn stuff. I've got the burn stuff right here. Right. Like, it's not the worst thing ever. I'm still mad about the Legion thing, but it just didn't deliver in the way that was going to.
598
01:19:18.000 --> 01:19:19.000
That you wanted it to.
599
01:19:19.000 --> 01:19:23.000
Yeah. Well, we've had two more issues of this or two more pages here of this book.
600
01:19:23.000 --> 01:19:24.000
Oh, yeah.
601
01:19:23.000 --> 01:20:07.000
So I got distracted by the sales page and the ads, which we got on this show, by the way. Well, no, hopefully. I, I mean, I, I genuinely hope that when we're going through these books and we hit one of these ads and we go on a tangent, it helps you understand the place and time for these books too, and what's going on. So we flip the page and we find out that Rip and Jack go do their time research, they go out to buy some parts, then they try to get a hotel room and the guy wants their. Doesn't want their. Or they're trying to get some money to get some parts, end up selling one of their vintage, vintage leather jackets. So just like you were in Vegas looking around. Yeah. This weekend.
602
01:20:07.000 --> 01:20:08.000
Yeah, yeah.
603
01:20:08.000 --> 01:20:30.000
They're selling their 500 year old leather jacket for parts. And what we find out is what they're not trying to get parts for the time Bobble, but they are trying to get parts to fix sk and they get Skeets up on a monitor so they can talk to him.
604
01:20:30.000 --> 01:20:32.000
That's good. That's important.
605
01:20:32.000 --> 01:20:35.000
The minute they do that, there's a knock on the door.
606
01:20:35.000 --> 01:20:37.000
Oh no.
607
01:20:37.000 --> 01:20:44.000
And as you know, you never open a door unless they have a warrant.
608
01:20:44.000 --> 01:20:47.000
I don't think in this time those cops care.
609
01:20:47.000 --> 01:22:08.000
We will find out next issue. They may have a warrant. You don't know. We don't know. But friends, if I could just say I think I got mad when we did with Travis. But I'm going to say this very calmly is a tough time. There's not a lot. It feels like a lot of stuff is outside of your control. But there is, there are a couple things in your control. Number one, do not speak to them. Do not speak to law enforcement. Do not speak to ice. Do not engage them with, with anything verbal because they can use that against you. Your right to remain silent is a preeminent right in the Constitution. Don't give that up. It's why people are using whistles, other things. Don't give that up. Number two, make them break the law. If somebody comes to your house and they don't have a warrant, do not speak to them. Do not let them in. If they break down your door, they're violating state and federal regulations. Just don't. That's my public service announcement for today. I'm not going to get too mad just like we are in this issue. You know, if, if you don't want to give up your rights, there's your best way to keep your rights.
610
01:22:08.000 --> 01:22:09.000
Very true. Very true.
611
01:22:09.000 --> 01:22:11.000
And I'm a public service announcement for the day.
612
01:22:11.000 --> 01:23:28.000
Mine as a, as a add on to your public service announcement as you're as you're correct. We are in tough times. We in days that feel very crazy and sometimes you need something that's uplifting. As most of you know we do partner with Project Nerd and we don't talk about it enough sometimes. But if you're looking for something to give you some levity and some inspiration, go check out Project Nerd. They are doing some great work. Iggy and the team over there are doing some things to, to help us all through these times right now with a lot of emotional uplifting post and well funny and also doing some stuff with just basically emotional and helpful well being items and stuff like that out there. So go check them out, check out what they've got out there and use them as a resource for some of your day to day stuff that you might need. But definitely like we try to post fun memes and stuff like that on there to keep keep going. But there's a lot of other good stuff too. Other great content to be found on their website. So. Yep, check out Project Nerd.
613
01:23:28.000 --> 01:23:30.000
And on that note.
614
01:23:30.000 --> 01:23:31.000
Yeah.
615
01:23:31.000 --> 01:23:35.000
We have one last thing left to advertise on this show.
616
01:23:35.000 --> 01:23:37.000
What is that?
617
01:23:37.000 --> 01:23:47.000
Well, well, there's two things actually. Number one is this. It's not an advertisement at all.
618
01:23:47.000 --> 01:23:48.000
Oh, okay.
619
01:23:48.000 --> 01:23:51.000
But it's an insight.
620
01:23:51.000 --> 01:23:53.000
A what? An insight.
621
01:23:53.000 --> 01:24:02.000
Well, remember how Barbara Randall. Barbara Kiesel is the editor now? Correct. Well, if we go to the Gold Exchange.
622
01:24:02.000 --> 01:24:05.000
Uh huh. Oh, the Gold Exchange.
623
01:24:05.000 --> 01:24:07.000
Dear Barbara. Okay, here we go.
624
01:24:07.000 --> 01:24:09.000
Straight up, right to her.
625
01:24:09.000 --> 01:25:24.000
The story, fantastic. The COVID classic. The Legion, terrific. The action, awesome. Booster Gold, really neat. Booster Gold, pain in the neck and spoiled rotten. I'm sorry, but I can't stand Booster the Man anymore. However, will continue to buy it for all the reasons above. But please, a kid has a major attitude problem, have somebody straighten him out. Sorry for the criticism. That's andy Sved from 455 North Kakia Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90048. The response is. Nah, don't be sorry for the criticism, Andy. I like to hear the bad stuff as well as the good. And is Booster getting to be too much? Yeah, I wouldn't want to know the guy. But that isn't the point. My goal is to give the readers an entertaining book that's worth 75 cents. You shall out for it. Reading about a hero who isn't a prince can be just as much fun as reading about a hero who has stainless steel morals. Maybe even more so. I love them. Just taking a shot. That's. I had to read you that one because they were taking a shot. Right. At what we were just talking about.
626
01:25:24.000 --> 01:25:25.000
Right, right.
627
01:25:25.000 --> 01:25:39.000
Going. If you're just reading the two big IPs. Well, anyway, we get to find out next. We do have one more thing to plug but we are going to get next issue. We get to find out. And hey, they even advertise the new Electric Warrior series.
628
01:25:39.000 --> 01:25:41.000
Oh, very cool.
629
01:25:41.000 --> 01:25:51.000
But yeah, there is one more thing to advertise here on this podcast before we go. Are you aware that your co author of Starlight, Travis Webb.
630
01:25:51.000 --> 01:25:52.000
Yeah.
631
01:25:52.000 --> 01:25:56.000
As a Kickstarter advertised.
632
01:25:56.000 --> 01:25:57.000
Really?
633
01:25:57.000 --> 01:26:03.000
Yeah. And that someday. That Kickstarter is going to launch. Someday. Yeah.
634
01:26:03.000 --> 01:26:05.000
Actually we talked about that over the.
635
01:26:05.000 --> 01:26:16.000
Weekend and so we'll keep posting the thing so you can follow it. And someday. But we don't know when. But someday. Someday it will launch.
636
01:26:16.000 --> 01:26:17.000
Yes.
637
01:26:17.000 --> 01:26:21.000
And do you know the title of that project? I.
638
01:26:21.000 --> 01:26:23.000
Why don't you tell me, Dan?
639
01:26:23.000 --> 01:26:42.000
I will tell you the Title of that project. It is an amazing project. It's called Cyborg Prodigies Nemesis and the Launch of the Dial Up Internet. A book about cyborgs.
640
01:26:42.000 --> 01:26:47.000
Oh, okay. I hear it's a real fire starter.
641
01:26:47.000 --> 01:26:52.000
It is a real fire starter. Like, good to go on the fire.
642
01:26:52.000 --> 01:26:53.000
Good to go.
643
01:26:53.000 --> 01:27:10.000
So, yeah, you can if you. If you're interested in that book. I'm learning about. All about how cyborgs took over the dial up network Prodigy we were talking about a few episodes ago. Yeah, yeah. Very interesting and fascinating book. I'm sure Travis is very excited about how he wrote this one. I can't wait to read the script.
644
01:27:10.000 --> 01:27:13.000
Deep dive into the history of the early Internet.
645
01:27:13.000 --> 01:27:21.000
I can't see Brett's renditions of. Of just like a teenage Travis right there typing on Prodigy.
646
01:27:21.000 --> 01:27:25.000
You know, it would be like a 90s version of alt Catch Fire.
647
01:27:25.000 --> 01:27:26.000
Yeah.
648
01:27:26.000 --> 01:27:29.000
Alt Catch Fire was such a good show.
649
01:27:29.000 --> 01:27:38.000
See? See? So, you know, you. You get ready for that book. If that sounds interesting. Interesting to you, you can click the link in our thing, right? That. That is what the title is in the book is about, right?
650
01:27:38.000 --> 01:27:40.000
No, it is not.
651
01:27:40.000 --> 01:27:41.000
It's not.
652
01:27:41.000 --> 01:27:54.000
It's not. But, but follow along, check out the link. It'll bring you right to the Kickstarter weight page. And you can read more about the Alex Rain story.
653
01:27:54.000 --> 01:28:00.000
And this is why we're not allowed to have sponsors, because I never get the copyright.
654
01:28:00.000 --> 01:28:07.000
Yeah, well, that's. That's why Ann was like, you know, thanks a lot, Dan. Just joking.
655
01:28:07.000 --> 01:28:24.000
Wow. I'm joking. I'm joking. Fine. We won't talk about the retro emporium on Meeker street washing in Kent, Washington. This time we don't want to talk about living your childhood. I mean, we only had an advertisement for the entire podcast, so I didn't feel like we needed to bring it up this time. But as long as Anne's throwing shade.
656
01:28:24.000 --> 01:28:26.000
She wasn't throwing shade. You know.
657
01:28:26.000 --> 01:28:31.000
You know the best thing about this? And this is where we're going to end the podcast right now. Yes. All right.
658
01:28:31.000 --> 01:28:32.000
Okay.
659
01:28:32.000 --> 01:28:35.000
I just want you to know Greg and I went off to Las Vegas.
660
01:28:35.000 --> 01:28:36.000
Yes.
661
01:28:36.000 --> 01:28:51.000
And I suggested to Ann that she watch some heated rivalry while Greg is gone. And Anne didn't just watch Heated Rivalry, but she binge watched Heated Rivalry and loved it.
662
01:28:51.000 --> 01:28:56.000
She thought it was a very good, well written, great show.
663
01:28:56.000 --> 01:29:16.000
And so just, you know, now drama. Now, the heated rivalry fans in this podcast relationship outweigh the non heated rivalry fans because we can't do the show unless Ann Lets us. So she counts as part of the podcast. And there we go. Two to one.
664
01:29:16.000 --> 01:29:28.000
I will say this, it was, it was funny because as soon as you got in the car and you guys started and you're like, did you watch? And she was like, yeah. And then like a whole ride home was just YouTube talking about heated Rifle.
665
01:29:28.000 --> 01:29:31.000
As we should. As we should.
666
01:29:31.000 --> 01:29:34.000
It didn't stop.
667
01:29:34.000 --> 01:30:05.000
As we should. Well, on that note, we have been on here for an hour and 29 minutes, mostly because I spent 20 minutes talking about comic sales and DC's failed strategy in the 80s and district old part of those failed strategies, unfortunately, because we're starting to get really good books with a really good editor. But do you want to know as we log off, do you want to wait till next week or do you want to know Booster Gold's year end sales number for 1986?
668
01:30:05.000 --> 01:30:06.000
Oh, man.
669
01:30:05.000 --> 01:30:11.000
Oh, it's not there. Sorry. It has to be 1987. So that's going to be including the ones we're just starting to read.
670
01:30:11.000 --> 01:30:17.000
I think we might have to keep the listeners in suspense. Come back next time.
671
01:30:17.000 --> 01:30:18.000
Anticipation.
672
01:30:18.000 --> 01:30:22.000
Yeah. Come back next time to find out where Booster Gold fell.
673
01:30:22.000 --> 01:30:37.000
Yeah, I think we're going to have to look at a single month probably. But yeah, we'll see where Booster Gold fell to in the rankings. In the rankings because I keep looking down, I keep looking down. I keep looking down.
674
01:30:37.000 --> 01:30:49.000
I keep falling, I keep falling, I keep falling. There's Blue Beetle. Past Blue Beetle, Legion of. That's like he needed a Blue Beetle. Pull him back up here.
675
01:30:49.000 --> 01:31:02.000
Here's one I will tell you. 87 in the diamond. So this would have been. This would have been direct sale, right? Legion was the top selling DC book or second selling DC book in 1982. 83.
676
01:31:02.000 --> 01:31:03.000
Yeah.
677
01:31:03.000 --> 01:31:36.000
Legion of Superheroes going to direct sale only is now number 60 in June of 1987. Again, if I'm gonna go through these numbers and prove the strategy. Yeah. Sigh. Well, anyway, that's it. We're going. It's bad. Goodbye, Legion. It's unfortunate. It was sad to see you go. But we're right here with Booster Gold anyway, so it's all fine. All right, bye.
678
01:31:36.000 --> 01:31:37.000
Have a good one.
679
01:31:37.000 --> 01:31:42.000
Everybod.
