INFORMAZIONI SU QUESTO EPISODIO
If you’ve ever felt like your sensitivity is both your superpower and the reason you burn out, this conversation lands with clarity. We sit down with Erin Ryan, a certified Reiki master teacher, licensed acupuncturist, and founder of Five Element Dragonfire Reiki, to talk about late-diagnosed ADHD and autism and what changes when you finally understand your neurotype. The throughline is simple and radical: not everything needs to be healed. Some parts of you need to be accommodated, honored, and supported.
We get real about sensory overload, anxiety, and the exhausting cognitive dissonance of trying to explain your lived experience in a world built for neurotypical nervous systems. Erin shares how diagnosis reshaped her relationship, unlocked grief and relief, and helped her release years of internalized ableism. We also name the harm that can happen in spiritual communities when toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing turn healing into a performance, especially for neurodivergent entrepreneurs who are already masking to survive.
From there, we bring it into spiritual entrepreneurship and energy healing: how to create neuroaffirming programs, why flexibility is access, and what it means to build a business structure that matches true capacity instead of hustle culture. Erin also shares the story behind Five Element Dragonfire Reiki, weaving Reiki, traditional Chinese medicine meridians, five-element theory, and dragon medicine into a modality designed for deeper integration.
If you’re a Reiki practitioner, healer, coach, or spiritually gifted creative, listen, share it with a friend who needs permission to stop “fixing” themselves, and subscribe and leave a review so more people can find neuroaffirming support.

00:00:25.039 --> 00:00:27.280
Welcome back to Wisdom Rising.
00:00:27.359 --> 00:00:30.640
I am your host, Christine Renee, and today we have a special guest on with us.
00:00:30.719 --> 00:00:42.640
We have Erin Ryan, and I'm really excited to have her because I recently saw a post and we were, she was discussing neurodivergency and I was and her Reiki work and all of the things.
00:00:42.719 --> 00:00:46.159
And I was like, yes, we need to have this conversation.
00:00:46.320 --> 00:00:49.280
We want, I really want to bring it wider and more expansive.
00:00:49.439 --> 00:00:59.039
So Erin Ryan is an odd DHD Oracle, certified Reiki master teacher, founder of the five-element dragon fire Reiki.
00:00:59.439 --> 00:01:06.560
She's also a licensed acupuncturist with a master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine and the owner of Crystal Lake Reiki.
00:01:07.040 --> 00:01:20.799
She has been in business since 2015, and she has generated nearly$1 million in revenue while building her spiritually led company rooted in intuitive intelligence rather than conventional business strategy.
00:01:20.959 --> 00:01:36.000
And I really am so glad that you added that to your bio because I'm like, I want, I would really love to, yes, have the conversation on neurodivergency, but also bring it into how does it affect our everyday spiritual entrepreneurs?
00:01:36.239 --> 00:01:37.920
Because it's a real thing.
00:01:38.079 --> 00:01:43.120
And I so I want to bridge that in and weave that into our conversation today as well.
00:01:43.359 --> 00:01:49.840
Um, I just have seen Aaron, Ryan, we've been colleagues in the in the Facebook world for a while.
00:01:50.159 --> 00:02:01.599
And I just love the way you promote and you put your information out there, whether it's for the five-element dragon fire Reiki or yourself as a business mentor and a spiritual doula.
00:02:02.159 --> 00:02:06.480
And I really am curious about how all of these systems have come to be.
00:02:06.640 --> 00:02:08.400
So welcome to the show, Erin.
00:02:08.560 --> 00:02:10.000
So glad to have you on.
00:02:10.400 --> 00:02:11.439
Yeah, thank you.
00:02:11.599 --> 00:02:14.479
I'm so excited when you asked me to be on, especially around this topic.
00:02:14.560 --> 00:02:20.159
I was like, yes, gimme, gimme, gimme, because I'm just so passionate about this.
00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:26.960
Like, I really think it's so important to understand our neurotype and to also lead with our channel in our business.
00:02:27.039 --> 00:02:30.719
So you touched on like two of my very favorite things in the entire world.
00:02:30.879 --> 00:02:32.479
So thank you so much for having me.
00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:35.280
Oh, I'm so excited to have you on because I think that's it.
00:02:35.439 --> 00:02:40.000
Like when you find your passion, it brings forward your purpose.
00:02:40.159 --> 00:02:42.479
And I can just see this about you.
00:02:42.639 --> 00:02:48.159
Like the way you post, the way you promote yourself, it's like from a place of passion.
00:02:48.240 --> 00:02:53.759
And I love that because I know you're doing your work in the world as you're meant to.
00:02:54.000 --> 00:03:07.280
So yeah, I'm really excited to dive in and I would love to hear your story because I know it's been fairly recent since you got, you know, your quote unquote official diagnoses of this.
00:03:07.360 --> 00:03:08.400
And what does that mean?
00:03:08.479 --> 00:03:14.400
And how did that impact the way you you do the things you do?
00:03:14.800 --> 00:03:15.120
Yeah.
00:03:15.360 --> 00:03:18.719
So I really I did not know I was neurodivergent.
00:03:18.879 --> 00:03:22.879
And um, like many, what I'm finding, many women don't know.
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:25.520
They're late diagnosed or late identified.
00:03:25.680 --> 00:03:35.280
And it wasn't until I had my kids, not even my first kid, I have three kids, but my last two, where I was like, okay, something's different here.
00:03:35.439 --> 00:03:37.919
I'm not having like the normal reactions.
00:03:38.000 --> 00:03:39.759
Like nobody likes them when their baby cries.
00:03:39.919 --> 00:03:43.520
Nobody, you know, these things happen like kids interrupt your thought processes.
00:03:43.759 --> 00:03:46.560
But what I was experiencing was so extreme.
00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:49.039
And I started to go, okay, what's going on here?
00:03:49.199 --> 00:03:51.759
And it was on one of my mastermind calls, actually.
00:03:51.919 --> 00:03:54.800
I was a program called Emerge that I was running years ago.
00:03:55.039 --> 00:03:59.199
Suddenly, all of my clients, we just started talking about neurodivergence.
00:03:59.280 --> 00:04:06.159
And I realized, oh my God, every single person on there was either diagnosed or you know, self-diagnosed.
00:04:06.240 --> 00:04:12.560
They suspected that they were neurodivergent, specifically ADHD and slash or autistic.
00:04:12.719 --> 00:04:17.519
And so that kind of planted the seed of like, oh, maybe there's something happening here.
00:04:17.680 --> 00:04:22.800
And flash forward to 2024 when I finally was like, I need some answers.
00:04:23.040 --> 00:04:27.519
And I went through my therapist at the time um and found out that I had ADHD.
00:04:27.759 --> 00:04:29.120
So I was like, okay, good.
00:04:29.199 --> 00:04:31.279
Like we know now, all right, this is what's happening.
00:04:31.360 --> 00:04:34.560
This is why, you know, I'm experiencing, you know, ABC.
00:04:34.959 --> 00:04:40.240
But what I realized is that even didn't cover my the full breadth of my experience.
00:04:40.319 --> 00:04:46.800
And I was like, okay, no, this still isn't fully encapsulating what I what what's happening for me.
00:04:46.959 --> 00:04:49.439
And then I started researching autism more.
00:04:49.600 --> 00:04:55.600
I started hearing from different people, especially people who are both autistic and have ADHD.
00:04:55.839 --> 00:05:01.199
And when they described their lived experience specifically, like it's almost like having two nervous systems.
00:05:01.360 --> 00:05:06.720
One is like creative and expansive, and it's sort of this uh beautiful chaos.
00:05:06.879 --> 00:05:11.839
And then the other one is is opposite, is like wants deep um hyper focus, right?
00:05:12.079 --> 00:05:15.360
And um uh order and structure and all these things.
00:05:15.519 --> 00:05:18.079
I was like, oh my gosh, like this sounds like me.
00:05:18.319 --> 00:05:22.399
And so I finally went and got my assessment for autism.
00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:24.240
It was just four months ago.
00:05:24.480 --> 00:05:37.600
It it definitely was a little bit more of a process for me to finally get up the courage, honestly, to go and get get tested and then to find a place that specialized in, you know, late identified, late diagnosed people as well.
00:05:37.759 --> 00:05:41.439
So I went through that process and yep, sure enough, I'm both.
00:05:41.519 --> 00:05:43.920
I'm autistic and I have ADHD.
00:05:44.000 --> 00:05:48.879
And so that that is really helped explain all my experience now as a human.
00:05:49.040 --> 00:06:02.879
And um, you know, I'm channel-led, I'm intuitive, and I have noticed this connection between being very spiritually gifted, very uh spiritually guided, being a divine channel and neurodivergence, which I think is really fascinating and interesting.
00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:16.639
But one of the things that I really noticed um is what led me to think I might be neurodivergent in the first place, beyond hearing other people talk about it, is I kept trying to heal my trauma.
00:06:16.800 --> 00:06:20.319
And I'm putting that in quotations for anyone who cannot see this.
00:06:20.720 --> 00:06:21.360
Yes.
00:06:22.879 --> 00:06:25.120
And that wasn't working.
00:06:25.439 --> 00:06:36.079
And if anything, trying to heal my trauma because I didn't know is I was actually trying to heal my neurodivergence, which is the way that our brains are built, it's how we process the world.
00:06:36.240 --> 00:06:40.639
I do not believe that it's like a disease or something that needs to be cured.
00:06:40.800 --> 00:06:43.839
I think it's a part of normal neurodiversity.
00:06:43.920 --> 00:06:48.399
Um, I know it's estimated like 20% or so of the population is neurodivergent.
00:06:48.560 --> 00:06:50.319
I have no way of approving this.
00:06:50.480 --> 00:06:52.480
I have no facts behind this before I say it.
00:06:52.560 --> 00:06:54.639
I'm just gonna say it from my own belief system.
00:06:54.800 --> 00:06:57.199
I think it's probably at least double that.
00:06:57.519 --> 00:07:03.199
I think that a lot more people are actually neurodivergent, which just means, right, we're not neurotypical.
00:07:03.360 --> 00:07:10.240
We don't fit into those, the, this, the sort of quote unquote normal set of standards of the way to behave and act in society.
00:07:10.560 --> 00:07:17.199
So um that actually created a lot of damage for me, which is why we wanted to hop on here and talk about this.
00:07:17.439 --> 00:07:23.360
Because when you are neurodivergent and you're trying to heal your trauma, it's not something that can be healed because there's nothing to heal.
00:07:23.519 --> 00:07:23.839
Right.
00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:26.959
It needs to be accommodated and honored.
00:07:27.279 --> 00:07:27.519
Yeah.
00:07:27.600 --> 00:07:35.839
And I think that's that is really why I wanted you to come on because I feel like there's a lot of spaces in the spiritual industry.
00:07:35.920 --> 00:07:40.959
And I and, you know, I've fallen into this category myself where it's like we're trying to heal.
00:07:41.120 --> 00:07:43.600
We're trying to heal, we're trying to heal, we're trying to heal.
00:07:43.759 --> 00:08:04.480
And it's been fairly recently where I'm like, what if we just accepted ourselves for all of that we are and all of who we are, whether we're neurodivergent, whether we have this childhood trauma, like what if we just accepted and loved on and appreciated what comes from that rather than trying to fix ourselves, right?
00:08:04.639 --> 00:08:12.800
And so I love the angle of the discussion and the the discovery of how am I different?
00:08:12.959 --> 00:08:20.560
Because I feel like there is so much breadth, like there is so wide and what that could be.
00:08:20.800 --> 00:08:38.080
Like I know personally I'm very uh a highly sensitive person, and I've always been like always could pick things out, like hyper aware of everything, my a hyper aroused state, if you will, in the um neurological polyvagal theory sense.
00:08:38.159 --> 00:08:40.720
Like I'm very aware now.
00:08:40.960 --> 00:08:43.120
Did that lead to my trauma?
00:08:43.759 --> 00:09:00.320
Or did is it the you know, that having that has let me be very keen on understanding spirituality and reading, under hearing spirits and seeing things and all of these things because I am hyper-arroused.
00:09:00.559 --> 00:09:21.360
So when you have this other, you know, force coming in saying, well, that's not normal and you need to fix it, it it really just throws you for a curveball and going, like, okay, so now I've spent how many years trying to fix myself, and that doesn't feel good.
00:09:22.240 --> 00:09:38.000
Yeah, well, and not only that, you add in in the spiritual community, like the the toxic positivity, the spiritual bypassing, which is you know, the victim shaming and blaming, which is like when if you're let's say you're in a program, right?
00:09:38.080 --> 00:09:46.159
And you've spent all this time and money on it and it's not shifting, it's not changing because you secretly are neurodivergent, or let's, like you said, even take that off the table.
00:09:46.320 --> 00:09:48.559
You're just different, it's just not how you're wired.
00:09:48.960 --> 00:09:52.799
And then what how how are we usually met in those containers?
00:09:52.960 --> 00:10:08.639
Usually people will I don't want to say usually, I hope it's not usually, but it my impression, certainly not in mine, I mean, certainly not in yours, but my impression from having talked to so many of my clients and you know, just the spiritual community as a whole, is they're met with this like, well, you didn't you didn't do it right.
00:10:08.720 --> 00:10:17.279
Basically, there's something wrong with the person who's not quote unquote healing or they're not having the outcome that they're quote unquote right supposed to be having.
00:10:17.360 --> 00:10:24.960
And it's infuriating for me because we're, you know, especially if you are neurodivergent, this is where it gets really tricky for me.
00:10:25.200 --> 00:10:31.759
When you are neurodivergent and you are growing up in an holistic neurotypical world, you will be traumatized.
00:10:31.919 --> 00:10:33.679
It is traumatizing for us.
00:10:33.840 --> 00:10:34.080
Yes.
00:10:34.399 --> 00:10:45.440
So the intersection point of that is very confusing, which is one of the reasons it took me, you know, I'm 43, uh, 43 years to get diagnosed autistic.
00:10:45.519 --> 00:10:47.120
And I had to fight hard for that.
00:10:47.200 --> 00:10:53.360
Like I had to go through the hoops to advocate for myself in order to be able to even get that.
00:10:53.440 --> 00:10:56.080
I feel privileged that I was able to get this diagnosis.
00:10:56.240 --> 00:10:58.320
So many people can't for so many reasons.
00:10:58.480 --> 00:11:00.480
So you're adding in these layers.
00:11:00.639 --> 00:11:05.279
And I do find it really interesting, and I'm curious about what your take is on this, Christine.
00:11:05.440 --> 00:11:15.840
I find it really interesting that in our day and age, it's far easier for us to identify and self-identify as having PTSD or CPTSD than it is neurodivergence.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:18.639
I just feel like there's something very flawed about that.
00:11:18.879 --> 00:11:19.840
Yeah, absolutely.
00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:26.159
Like I can easily go get PTSD diagnosis any, any, any well, anytime.
00:11:26.320 --> 00:11:26.879
No problem.
00:11:27.039 --> 00:11:30.639
Like, that's an easy one for me to be like, oh yeah, all these things happen.
00:11:30.799 --> 00:11:35.919
You're having flashbacks, you're you're you're modifying your behavior in certain situations.
00:11:36.000 --> 00:11:37.279
That's PTSD, right?
00:11:37.360 --> 00:11:39.120
Like, so easy, right?
00:11:39.360 --> 00:11:46.080
But if I actually wanted to go down the road of like, am do I actually qualify for something that is neurodivergent?
00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:47.919
I don't know if I necessarily am.
00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:51.759
And I have it hasn't been a rabbit hole I've I've chosen to go down.
00:11:52.080 --> 00:11:58.399
However, my daughter, very neurodivergent, my her father, very neurodivergent.
00:11:58.720 --> 00:12:07.039
My son is like on the opposite side of symptoms, but so extreme that it feels like he also has a neurodivergency.
00:12:07.200 --> 00:12:12.000
So I feel like everyone around me has a lot of neurodivergency.
00:12:12.080 --> 00:12:14.559
So I've and my sister, very neurodivergent.
00:12:14.639 --> 00:12:21.120
So it's like I've grown up around it and also being shamed for it.
00:12:21.279 --> 00:12:23.360
You know, I've seen that level of it.
00:12:23.440 --> 00:12:26.799
Like, why can't you just do X, Y, and Z?
00:12:27.200 --> 00:12:31.759
And so um I don't have a lot of like self-identifying factors.
00:12:31.919 --> 00:12:33.759
I just know I'm different and I'm okay with that.
00:12:33.840 --> 00:12:54.639
And I feel like in my programs, you know, oftentimes we have so many different outlets of the way to learn, you know, whether it's videos, whether it's the workbooks, whether it's the calls, like we have such different ranges of like we really recognize that everyone's gonna learn different and no one is gonna do it the same.
00:12:55.279 --> 00:12:56.879
And that's like the foundation.
00:12:57.039 --> 00:13:04.480
Like you're gonna journey this way and you're gonna journey this way, and it's they're gonna be very different, and no one's gonna follow a step A, B, C, and D.
00:13:04.559 --> 00:13:06.799
Like it just does not work that way.
00:13:07.200 --> 00:13:17.360
And um, there's a lot of people who who really want that five-step process of like, this is your your golden ticket to have a healing experience.
00:13:17.440 --> 00:13:20.000
And I'm like, that's that's just BS.
00:13:20.080 --> 00:13:23.679
Like that doesn't, that doesn't work in our world.
00:13:23.759 --> 00:13:36.480
And if we try to fit everyone into a box, I think that's where like Moon Rising and previous our our Reiki Captain University, that was always our stance of like you cannot box people in.
00:13:36.639 --> 00:13:38.320
Boxes don't work.
00:13:38.799 --> 00:13:42.080
And and so that's kind of like where I've been standing for a long time.
00:13:42.240 --> 00:13:45.759
And I just have more and more neurodivergent clients.
00:13:45.919 --> 00:13:50.399
And I'm like loving supporting them and going, honor that.
00:13:50.559 --> 00:13:52.320
This is your, this is your gifts.
00:13:52.480 --> 00:13:56.159
These are, this isn't anything that you need to be ashamed of.
00:13:56.320 --> 00:14:00.320
Let's figure out how to make this into your superpower and like embrace it.
00:14:00.799 --> 00:14:17.679
I think that's really important too, like touching on this idea of like if you are creating a business model where you are recognizing that there are different neurotypes, there's different ways of learning, there's different pacing, and you're creating a space that is open to that and neuroaffirming.
00:14:17.840 --> 00:14:25.840
Um, I think that this is like the wave of the future because we, you know, kind of like being neuroaffirming is the new trauma informed, right?
00:14:25.919 --> 00:14:29.840
For there was a period of time where it was like, everyone become trauma form informed.
00:14:29.919 --> 00:14:31.440
It's so important because it is important.
00:14:31.600 --> 00:14:34.960
And now I feel like becoming neuroaffirming is the next iteration.
00:14:35.039 --> 00:14:36.080
It's the evolution of that.
00:14:36.240 --> 00:14:42.559
And I do want to say really quickly, if a person has trauma, like they are the changes the brain.
00:14:42.639 --> 00:14:53.279
So you are technically neurodivergent, it's just different than being born, like a neurodevelop developmental issue, not issue, but um having like autism, having ADHD, right?
00:14:53.360 --> 00:14:55.360
Like not issue, but difference.
00:14:55.600 --> 00:15:02.399
And so that's what it was really interesting for me is to piece out because I thought, okay, I just have complex PTSD.
00:15:02.480 --> 00:15:04.720
I I knew that from my childhood.
00:15:04.879 --> 00:15:07.279
I had you know a really difficult childhood.
00:15:07.440 --> 00:15:10.799
I ended up in my uh early adulthood in a cult.
00:15:10.879 --> 00:15:12.320
Um, I had to get out of that.
00:15:12.399 --> 00:15:17.519
Like, so I have a lot of really obvious, like, yeah, girl, you you be traumatized.
00:15:18.559 --> 00:15:28.480
So it was interesting when I went down the neurodivergent rabbit hole, like specifically ADHD and autism, because it was like, okay, well, is this trauma or is this not?
00:15:28.639 --> 00:15:42.799
And one of one of kind of the big like lights here that you might be in my and this is my felt experience again, there's a few different things is um when I look back at my entire life, because again, ADHD autism, you're born with it.
00:15:42.879 --> 00:15:45.759
It's not something that you develop later on.
00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:48.399
That's that's not true, it's not real.
00:15:48.559 --> 00:15:53.279
Um, even when people have talked about like um vaccines and autism, things like that.
00:15:53.440 --> 00:16:00.240
I believe what's happening is, you know, uh, and this is a little bit of a segue, but I believe what's happening is they are there's a correlation.
00:16:00.399 --> 00:16:07.200
I think that uh sometimes when it comes to vaccines, like you we can having very sensitive nervous systems can have reactions to them.
00:16:07.279 --> 00:16:10.320
So I think it's probably triggering some of those things.
00:16:10.559 --> 00:16:16.320
But by definition, autism, EDHD, it's a you were born with this neurodevelopmental condition.
00:16:16.480 --> 00:16:21.039
So going into the assessment process and understanding, okay, what was here since birth?
00:16:21.200 --> 00:16:25.840
How do and you can't you can't measure it at birth, like there's no test for that as babies.
00:16:25.919 --> 00:16:29.200
So you have to look for these different um behaviors and things.
00:16:29.360 --> 00:16:35.120
Well, I didn't fit into most of those typical behaviors, but how it works is there's categories of behavior.
00:16:35.200 --> 00:16:42.159
And when I zoomed out to the categories of behavior, I was like, oh my gosh, like when I look back, I see it from the very beginning.
00:16:42.320 --> 00:16:47.840
But honestly, I would have never been diagnosed if I didn't have the difficulties with my children that I did.
00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:49.759
And it was, it's been sensory for me.
00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:54.320
I could not understand the um experience I was having.
00:16:54.559 --> 00:16:55.759
I'll give you an example.
00:16:55.919 --> 00:16:58.480
Like when children cry, nobody likes that.
00:16:58.639 --> 00:17:04.480
Like moms are hardwired, for instance, that uh we go into that sympathetic nervous system response.
00:17:04.559 --> 00:17:05.440
Like that's that's a thing.
00:17:05.519 --> 00:17:09.759
The amygdala gets triggered, like I it even changes shape, I believe, after you have babies.
00:17:10.000 --> 00:17:11.839
That's different than what I was experiencing.
00:17:12.000 --> 00:17:13.279
Yeah, nobody likes that.
00:17:13.440 --> 00:17:18.319
I was experiencing like physical pain, like I was being stabbed with a thousand tiny needles.
00:17:18.400 --> 00:17:24.000
Like that, I realized I was minimizing that, but that has been sort of my sensory experience most of my life.
00:17:24.079 --> 00:17:26.319
Kind of what you were talking about, the hyper-arousal.
00:17:26.480 --> 00:17:33.119
And I think it's one of the reasons that I'm able to feel into the subtler realms is because of this um increased sensitivity.
00:17:33.359 --> 00:17:42.960
But when you're in different places and spaces and you're not being accommodated, then it can be a real problem when you're again, you're trying to heal that because there's nothing to heal.
00:17:43.119 --> 00:17:54.559
So when I was doing trauma healing around that particular thing, I got a parent coach, I was going to therapy, I was doing all these things because I figured, oh, there must be something wrong with me that I'm having such a strong response.
00:17:54.799 --> 00:17:57.599
It it barely shifted it like at all.
00:17:57.839 --> 00:18:08.319
What did shift it is when I actually got my diagnosis and then I understood now I can accommodate and accept that part of myself and just create um safety around it.
00:18:09.039 --> 00:18:15.759
I'm curious how is your partnership evolved with this diagnosis?
00:18:17.039 --> 00:18:28.000
Yeah, um, so since I was diagnosed, one of the big reasons I felt courageous enough to go and get diagnosed is because you know, I've been with my husband now for um what, 14?
00:18:28.079 --> 00:18:30.319
It'll be 15 years this this fall.
00:18:30.559 --> 00:18:32.319
We've been married for seven years.
00:18:32.559 --> 00:18:35.599
And um, because I knew that he would accept me no matter what.
00:18:36.160 --> 00:18:36.400
Yes.
00:18:36.559 --> 00:18:38.160
So that was a huge part.
00:18:38.480 --> 00:18:42.000
Yeah, so big to have like a secure, attached relationship.
00:18:42.160 --> 00:18:42.799
Yes.
00:18:43.200 --> 00:18:43.599
Yes.
00:18:43.759 --> 00:18:54.480
Uh, and I had built up a support system around me where I knew that I would be safe by the people who really mattered to me in my life if I was diagnosed autistic.
00:18:54.799 --> 00:19:10.799
So since I've been diagnosed, uh it's really helped my relationship, to be quite honest, like in big ways, because things that did not make sense to him or me before, where we would we both have CPTSD, he actually also has ADHD.
00:19:10.960 --> 00:19:15.519
Um, we our brains would fill in the gaps trying to understand why is she saying that?
00:19:15.599 --> 00:19:16.240
Why is she doing that?
00:19:16.400 --> 00:19:17.359
Why is she not doing that?
00:19:17.440 --> 00:19:18.880
Why is she not saying that?
00:19:19.119 --> 00:19:25.759
And so knowing now that I'm autistic and I and I have ADHD, we both have a complete picture.
00:19:25.920 --> 00:19:36.240
So I what that means in the relationship is there's more compassion, there's more understanding, um, there's a lot more, there's less projection and a lot more accountability.
00:19:36.480 --> 00:19:40.960
So before, where I had blind spots and I would, you know, maybe get defensive.
00:19:41.119 --> 00:19:43.039
Now I go, oh, okay, right.
00:19:43.759 --> 00:19:45.440
Girl be autistic, right?
00:19:45.599 --> 00:19:47.039
And like a playful way, right?
00:19:47.119 --> 00:19:49.839
We're not weaponizing it, but it's like, oh, right.
00:19:50.240 --> 00:19:56.799
I thought my face, for instance, was conveying one thing and it was my tone of my voice was conveying another.
00:19:56.880 --> 00:19:58.480
This is in as a mom, too.
00:19:58.559 --> 00:20:04.079
Like my my daughter, my seven-year-old, at one point, she was like, Mom, you said you say that my joke's funny, but you're not laughing.
00:20:04.160 --> 00:20:07.519
And I was like, But I'm laughing on the inside, like I really am.
00:20:08.079 --> 00:20:17.440
So it's given me this beautiful sort of codex to decipher myself and for my husband and my family to also understand.
00:20:17.599 --> 00:20:22.720
And so it's created uh more intimacy in in every way, which has been really beautiful.
00:20:22.960 --> 00:20:28.720
I will say though, um, it was difficult for me going through the assessment process.
00:20:28.880 --> 00:20:37.519
I had to create a lot of uh like containment around that, meaning spaciousness and processing time because it was very vulnerable, it was very raw.
00:20:37.680 --> 00:20:43.599
I had a beautiful experience, but the psychologist that I worked with was absolutely incredible, also neurodivergent.
00:20:43.759 --> 00:20:50.880
Uh, you know, I think I can't remember which flavor she was, but um, the process itself was really safe and sacred.
00:20:50.960 --> 00:20:55.200
And I had other people who were had already gone through the process who I could talk to.
00:20:55.440 --> 00:20:59.440
But even with that, um, it was very vulnerable, it was very raw.
00:20:59.599 --> 00:21:02.400
I had to go through a big grieving process as well.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:06.480
My reaction when I when I got the official diagnosis was relief.
00:21:06.720 --> 00:21:11.279
Like my body had just taken a breath that it had been holding in for my entire life.
00:21:11.519 --> 00:21:16.160
And also, like a lot of like sorrow came after that, a lot of grieving.
00:21:16.319 --> 00:21:24.880
You know, you don't go four decades, you know, 40 plus years unassisted, unsupported, like the way that I have.
00:21:25.119 --> 00:21:31.200
It it really had brought up a lot of a lot of layers of different emotions that I've had to work through as well.
00:21:31.359 --> 00:21:33.200
But four, four months, it was only four months ago.
00:21:33.279 --> 00:21:34.640
It feels like four years, honestly.
00:21:34.799 --> 00:21:36.079
Like it's that's kind of cool.
00:21:36.319 --> 00:21:37.519
Yeah, that's amazing.
00:21:37.680 --> 00:21:40.880
Thank you so much for your vulnerability and sharing that story with us.
00:21:41.039 --> 00:21:59.200
Cause I, and I can feel into that um easy of plausibility of like having that true self identity grief show up, you know, like who you were told you were to who you really are, and like minding the gap between those two in this process.
00:21:59.279 --> 00:21:59.759
How are you?
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:00.799
Doing now?
00:22:01.759 --> 00:22:04.480
I mean, so much, so much better.
00:22:04.640 --> 00:22:09.920
I the way that I describe it is like the breath that finally got released.
00:22:10.000 --> 00:22:17.279
There's something very, very deep in my nervous system where I was always holding this certain tension.
00:22:17.440 --> 00:22:22.319
Um, sometimes I would, you know, kind of think about like a body pain, like a chronic body pain.
00:22:22.400 --> 00:22:29.279
Anyone who's had chronic pain in their body knows that like there are certain times it's really like fever pitch and you can only focus on it.
00:22:29.359 --> 00:22:32.000
And there are times you can totally ignore it, but it's still there.
00:22:32.240 --> 00:22:45.839
That's what this felt like, like a release of this deep pain that my nervous system and body has been holding on to for as long as I can remember, like even talking about anything emotional, because it's like, whoa, like you didn't, I didn't know.
00:22:46.079 --> 00:22:52.240
And the heartbreak for me is I've known about autism since I was a little kid.
00:22:52.319 --> 00:23:01.119
I'd known about ADHD since I was a little kid, but had written it completely off because I would say to myself with ADHD, I'm like, well, I can sit in a chair and I get good grades.
00:23:01.440 --> 00:23:04.480
Ergo, I I definitely not ADHD, right?
00:23:04.559 --> 00:23:09.200
Because it was the research at the time was very male-dominated and it's still catching up.
00:23:09.359 --> 00:23:13.599
Like it, they weren't studying women, they weren't studying little girls, they were studying boys.
00:23:13.839 --> 00:23:15.359
And same thing with autism.
00:23:15.519 --> 00:23:18.720
Like you think of autism, and there's it's a spectrum.
00:23:18.960 --> 00:23:24.160
Um, you know, there you can be really high, high masking or or very adapted.
00:23:24.240 --> 00:23:27.359
I'm very adaptable, like nobody suspected anything.
00:23:27.519 --> 00:23:30.720
All I knew is that I was, I've always felt very different.
00:23:30.880 --> 00:23:32.880
This just something's different about me.
00:23:33.119 --> 00:23:36.960
I've always been very deeply sensitive, like very emotionally sensitive.
00:23:37.119 --> 00:23:39.519
I've, you know, nervous system sensitivities.
00:23:39.680 --> 00:23:42.400
And then, yeah, this connection to the spiritual realm.
00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:51.039
And these things to me, I kind of look for them in people around me because I'm like, I don't want to be like because they're not.
00:23:51.200 --> 00:23:55.119
But it's kind of like when you buy a certain car and then you start seeing the car everywhere.
00:23:55.200 --> 00:23:58.319
It's like hard not to see it when it's so obvious, too.
00:23:58.400 --> 00:24:17.920
So, but it's um, I am really, really grateful that I've been able to become diagnosed, especially I'll say, like, kind of one more piece of that that was really big for me that I I did not expect um is the internalized ableism that I have been carrying with me and the shame attached to that.
00:24:18.079 --> 00:24:21.839
It's like once I got my diagnosis, I could finally access that.
00:24:22.000 --> 00:24:30.000
Like, ooh, because the the thing is, I can do things that neurotypical brains can do.
00:24:30.960 --> 00:24:46.000
The differentiation for me being what would be called like level one uh or low supports needs on the autistic scale, is like the amount of energy it takes me is disproportionate.
00:24:46.240 --> 00:24:57.039
So, yes, I can, you know, do my laundry, I can pay my bills, I can, you know, do, but it takes so much for me to do that compared to a neurotypical human.
00:24:57.279 --> 00:25:00.880
Meanwhile, I'm doing things that feel impossible to other people.
00:25:00.960 --> 00:25:12.559
Like my joke is I could go in and clear your bloodline seven generations back, you know, in like 30 minutes, but I can't even, you know, remember to put my washer, you know, my clothes in the washer in the dryer.
00:25:12.720 --> 00:25:12.880
Right.
00:25:13.119 --> 00:25:15.440
So yeah, it's like a whole situation.
00:25:15.680 --> 00:25:17.920
Yeah, no, I really, I really resonate with that.
00:25:18.000 --> 00:25:26.400
My daughter is super um neurodivergent and and like she gets so burnt out in school and she needs so much recovery time.
00:25:26.559 --> 00:25:30.960
And she this last month of school, she just is like, I can't, I just am done.
00:25:31.039 --> 00:25:31.839
I can't go.
00:25:32.079 --> 00:25:34.720
And I'm like, I knew this is coming.
00:25:34.880 --> 00:25:38.240
I told all the teachers three months ago that they needed to give you less.
00:25:38.400 --> 00:25:39.119
They didn't listen.
00:25:39.279 --> 00:25:41.839
I told them that this was gonna happen and it did.
00:25:42.000 --> 00:25:48.240
And you know, it's just it's um, it's so um, it's sad that our schools haven't caught up.
00:25:48.319 --> 00:25:54.160
And because it's she's so clearly not um, she's not black and white.
00:25:54.319 --> 00:26:11.359
Like they, you know, like they it's easy to diagnose these boys who have really obvious, but she is a high masker, and like I know this about her, and she has high anxiety, but I think the anxiety is just a symptom of, you know, and it's it's really hard.
00:26:11.440 --> 00:26:18.240
It's like, well, now I'm gonna have to go, I'll probably have to travel out of state to get a diagnosis.
00:26:18.400 --> 00:26:23.200
You know, it's like so so much of it's like, well, does it matter?
00:26:23.359 --> 00:26:24.240
Does it not matter?
00:26:24.400 --> 00:26:28.480
Like she already thinks she is, like I know she probably is.
00:26:28.720 --> 00:26:34.880
It's it's it's just a a whirlwind of like how to support.
00:26:35.039 --> 00:26:39.119
It's not managing, it's supporting, like really trying to be her advocate.
00:26:39.200 --> 00:26:42.000
And I can see, I can see it and I can say it.
00:26:42.160 --> 00:26:47.839
And because there isn't like a system in place, it can't be honored, and it's just really hard, right?
00:26:48.160 --> 00:26:58.400
I've heard that consistently from my clients and friends who have um, you know, children on the spectrum, that it's been really difficult for them to be able to advocate.
00:26:58.559 --> 00:27:06.240
I will say one thing though, when you get a diagnosis, that is it's recognized, you know, versus not having one.
00:27:06.319 --> 00:27:11.519
It's very difficult to get the accommodations that she might need if you don't have that diagnosis.
00:27:11.680 --> 00:27:14.319
So that's one of the benefits of going through that.
00:27:14.559 --> 00:27:20.240
I just I also feel like, and this is not universal, this is again just my felt experience.
00:27:20.480 --> 00:27:23.759
I just personally needed to get one.
00:27:23.920 --> 00:27:30.319
I think part of that is because I the gaslighting of growing up and then being in a cult and all of that kind of stuff.
00:27:30.480 --> 00:27:36.000
I really did need somebody outside of me to kind of help me work through that.
00:27:36.319 --> 00:27:50.000
But beyond that, like it is something that it's an easier way to to communicate to other people a lot of information about you in a very short, right, like amount of time.
00:27:50.160 --> 00:27:53.680
Um, and so for her, it's gonna be very personal.
00:27:53.920 --> 00:27:58.880
Now, I know my system, my school system, because I've got multiple kids in the school system.
00:27:59.039 --> 00:28:02.559
If you ask the school, they have to evaluate.
00:28:02.720 --> 00:28:05.039
So, does your school system not have that?
00:28:05.119 --> 00:28:11.759
Or well, they did the evaluation and they just came back with anxiety, and I just don't think it was correct, you know.
00:28:12.000 --> 00:28:18.319
So, yeah, anxiety that's one of the most common things that girls are misdiagnosed with is being just anxious.
00:28:18.559 --> 00:28:20.400
I have always had lifelong anxiety.
00:28:20.559 --> 00:28:32.400
It's really interesting we're talking about this because I woke up this morning and I was like, oh my god, like the anxiety, like it's not it's it's going, I'm watching it kind of leave me in bigger waves now.
00:28:32.559 --> 00:28:42.240
And I recognize now a lot of the anxiety I was feeling was cognitive dissonance between like, why am I feeling this?
00:28:42.400 --> 00:28:42.640
Right.
00:28:42.799 --> 00:28:44.559
So another example, bright lights.
00:28:44.720 --> 00:28:50.720
If I'm under fluorescent lighting for a really long time, it will drain my life force, it will activate me, right?
00:28:50.880 --> 00:29:05.680
But the cognitive dissonance, if I don't know that, and now my nervous system is activated and overstimulated in that hyperarousal state, my brain's gonna look for any reason whatsoever to help me understand my experience.
00:29:05.839 --> 00:29:11.920
And so my entire life, my brain has been reaching for things, but it's like the body knows that's not it.
00:29:12.000 --> 00:29:13.039
So it creates that.
00:29:13.200 --> 00:29:18.799
This is my again, my perception, like that that friction, which comes up as this anxiety.
00:29:18.960 --> 00:29:22.480
So I've noticed my anxiety is reducing.
00:29:22.640 --> 00:29:31.200
Um, my projection, because I I did not understand you could have sensory trauma not attached to like a traumatic event, right?
00:29:31.279 --> 00:29:41.680
So, like you think about if you're in a car accident and you hear the, you know, the metal scraping or loud, of course, the next time you hear that sound, you're gonna kind of be back there, right?
00:29:41.839 --> 00:29:48.079
But I didn't know that, oh, being under like having overlapping sounds of my kids crying, right?
00:29:48.240 --> 00:29:50.160
That alone can traumatize me.
00:29:50.319 --> 00:30:06.000
Or as a little kid, being under really bright lights or um, you know, feeling the intensity of a room full of people who are mourning or, you know, whatever, whatever the case might be, that sensitivity can in and of itself be traumatizing.
00:30:06.240 --> 00:30:09.359
Now that I understand that, I can make sense.
00:30:09.519 --> 00:30:12.400
The cognitive dissonance is now resonance.
00:30:12.799 --> 00:30:16.319
I am surrounded by people who understand that, right?
00:30:16.480 --> 00:30:22.960
And my experience, like my husband will even remind me sometimes, because I'll forget and he'll be like, it's okay, you're autistic.
00:30:23.119 --> 00:30:25.359
Of course, of course, you're upset about that.
00:30:25.440 --> 00:30:28.240
Like, why don't you just have a good cry and you'll feel better?
00:30:28.319 --> 00:30:30.400
And then I have a good cry and I feel better.
00:30:30.640 --> 00:30:36.319
So there's just so much that can happen when you do go down that route.
00:30:36.400 --> 00:30:37.599
But again, you don't have to.
00:30:37.680 --> 00:30:39.599
There's plenty of self-diagnosed people too.
00:30:39.920 --> 00:30:41.519
Yeah, you know, they they do well.
00:30:41.759 --> 00:30:57.599
Well, and I love that that piece of really like the cognitive distance just really resonates because I think there is a part of us that just wants the answer and wants to figure it out, and we can't figure out why I am the way I am, and I need something concrete.
00:30:57.839 --> 00:31:02.799
And then I could just see the anxiety just be exhaled, right?
00:31:02.880 --> 00:31:03.039
Yeah.
00:31:03.279 --> 00:31:05.440
I now I know, okay, this is just who I am.
00:31:05.519 --> 00:31:13.119
I can just accept myself for who I am and and nurture myself the way I am, and there's nothing that I need to fix about this, right?
00:31:13.200 --> 00:31:19.839
And I think that could be a huge relief to a lot of people who are still in that process.
00:31:20.319 --> 00:31:25.599
And um, I'm really curious about how it is for you and your business.
00:31:25.759 --> 00:31:33.279
I know you're very successful and you've created an amazing lineage of Reiki, and I'd love to hear about that journey.
00:31:33.599 --> 00:31:34.720
Yeah, absolutely.
00:31:34.960 --> 00:31:37.359
So, again, you know, I'm I'm a divine channel.
00:31:37.440 --> 00:31:38.720
I'm I'm very intuitive.
00:31:38.799 --> 00:31:40.960
I'm I've always been really spiritual.
00:31:41.119 --> 00:31:41.759
It's really funny.
00:31:41.839 --> 00:31:49.599
I was joking with my psychologist, like my special interest journey has always been since a little a weas has been spirituality, the occult, right?
00:31:49.680 --> 00:31:52.319
Um, energy healing, all of that realm.
00:31:52.480 --> 00:31:56.079
And so it's funny that I made and created a whole business out of it.
00:31:56.160 --> 00:32:08.880
Well, five element dragon fire reiki in particular, this is like my baby, and it took, oh my gosh, uh a really long time for me to reach the level of mastery where it finally dropped into my channel.
00:32:09.039 --> 00:32:25.039
Um, I ended up going to school for a master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine, and that's where I learned about the meridian system, these beautiful energy highways that you know our energy flows through that are correspond to the five elements in Eastern medicine, which is fire, earth, metal, water, and wood.
00:32:25.279 --> 00:32:29.759
And before that, I had actually become a Reiki master uh in traditional Sui.
00:32:30.079 --> 00:32:37.839
So when I went to school for my master's degree, I decided then that I was actually going to start this business, and which was Crystal Lake Reiki.
00:32:38.079 --> 00:32:40.559
And when I opened it up, I it was a Reiki business.
00:32:40.720 --> 00:32:45.039
So it was wildly successful, like did not expect that at all.
00:32:45.279 --> 00:32:56.160
Um, within six months, I had quit my other jobs and I was doing energy work uh as my my only source of income, which was absolutely amazing, and also studying Eastern medicine.
00:32:56.240 --> 00:32:58.400
So then we flashed forward to 2020.
00:32:58.480 --> 00:33:03.440
That all happened, you know, 2015 to 2017, is when I opened my business and got my master's.
00:33:03.680 --> 00:33:08.559
Then 2020 came, and um, that's when I started working with dragon medicine.
00:33:09.200 --> 00:33:14.960
Uh, and these dragons dropped in one day and they were like in 2022, and they're like, guess what?
00:33:15.119 --> 00:33:17.440
They're like, ha ha, jokes on you.
00:33:17.680 --> 00:33:19.839
We were because they were very encouraging to me.
00:33:19.920 --> 00:33:20.960
I'm their audience.
00:33:21.039 --> 00:33:23.440
So I've been hearing my guides since I was in seventh grade.
00:33:23.599 --> 00:33:29.200
They they were one of the ones who told me, they're like, hey, you need to go to and do this master's degree in Eastern Medicine.
00:33:29.359 --> 00:33:36.559
So the dragons I didn't know at the time, that's what they were, came and they're like, hey, girl, by the way, you had to go and get that so you could learn the meridian system.
00:33:36.720 --> 00:33:52.960
You had to go do this Reiki class to learn Reiki so that you now can combine them into five elements, dragonfire Reiki, which is the combination of traditional Sui uh Reiki with alchemical dragonfire, dragon consciousness, the five elements, and the meridian system.
00:33:53.119 --> 00:33:56.400
Because what they showed me is that um human beings were now ready.
00:33:56.480 --> 00:33:57.440
This is very cool.
00:33:57.680 --> 00:34:11.440
Very, we were now ready to go deeper into our energetic system, into the body to release distortions and you know, do a lot more of that integration a lot more quickly than we could previously, which is why it dropped in now.
00:34:11.599 --> 00:34:13.920
So I really view it as an evolution.
00:34:14.079 --> 00:34:19.840
And so back in 2022 is when I started um teaching with um the fire dragon.
00:34:20.000 --> 00:34:32.639
And it's funny because you know, full circle, I just taught the fire dragon again here not too long ago, since we're in fire element, which is the the summer, which is the season, and it's been absolutely transformative for me and my clients.
00:34:32.719 --> 00:34:33.840
So that's all good.
00:34:34.079 --> 00:34:35.039
Oh my god, I love it.
00:34:35.199 --> 00:34:44.559
I think it's been um it's really interesting to hear your story because I was also in that same path of like 2016.
00:34:44.639 --> 00:35:07.280
I started my business officially, had a really successful, was doing it full time, was making those five-figure months, just doing Reiki, and then like the pandemic hit, and then moving online and like watching things kind of explode in the way of like people are available and ready for this information to be transmitted to them.
00:35:07.360 --> 00:35:11.599
So I just love the mirroring of of how that went for you.
00:35:11.920 --> 00:35:23.440
And I I like hearing those pieces, I'm like, of course the meridians are gonna are gonna just really like that's so um, I think it's golden, you know.
00:35:23.519 --> 00:35:25.280
Like it just like, yes, yes, yes.
00:35:25.360 --> 00:35:29.920
Like all of that um energetically just feels so uh so right.
00:35:30.239 --> 00:35:39.119
Like I I love that and I'm so excited for that it still gets to continue in its progress and and spreading out.
00:35:39.280 --> 00:35:44.000
And um, I how are you supporting your students now online?
00:35:44.559 --> 00:35:48.960
To are you getting mostly neurodivergent students or are you getting a mix?
00:35:49.119 --> 00:35:52.079
Like, how what's that scene for the business?
00:35:52.480 --> 00:35:56.239
Yeah, I think I naturally just attract people who are neurodivergent.
00:35:56.400 --> 00:36:02.239
Like, I don't obviously I don't ask them when they're like sign up, like, hey, are you neurotypical or neurodivergent?
00:36:02.320 --> 00:36:06.880
You know, we don't have those conversations, but certainly all of them are spiritually gifted.
00:36:07.039 --> 00:36:13.519
Um, it's really clear to me that if they are neurodivergent, that would not surprise me.
00:36:13.679 --> 00:36:19.360
If anything, having somebody who's neurotypical come through my doors would be more surprising to me now.
00:36:19.440 --> 00:36:27.679
Um, and I don't maybe you've heard this, but I know that there's a scientifically proven bias that uh neurotypical people have towards neurodivergent humans.
00:36:27.840 --> 00:36:30.079
They just tend to not like us.
00:36:30.239 --> 00:36:43.760
Like if you are neurotypical, like they tend to not every single neurotypical person does this, but there is a built-in bias where there's just like something's different about this neurodivergent human and they can just feel it and they actually like there can be again that dissonance.
00:36:43.840 --> 00:36:50.719
So I think that I just naturally will attract people in who are more in that realm than in the other realm.
00:36:50.880 --> 00:36:55.840
And I'm I'm sure you know too, like specifically autism, ADHD, it's it's hereditary.
00:36:56.000 --> 00:37:00.559
So even though, like, for instance, with you, you're not diagnosed, you're not interested in it, you don't know.
00:37:00.800 --> 00:37:04.559
You no matter what, you probably have some traits just from talking to you here.
00:37:04.719 --> 00:37:11.199
But um, there I think that, and if it's okay, I'm gonna segue just a little bit here because this is really big deal.
00:37:11.679 --> 00:37:20.159
Um, I just want to like have a little mini rant about the diagnoses piece, uh, as much as it's been beautiful for me, and I'm really glad I did it.
00:37:20.400 --> 00:37:30.239
I'm also recognized that there's a big flaw in it, personally speaking, because I would not have gotten diagnosed if I was not in basically crisis.
00:37:30.400 --> 00:37:32.079
And I think that that's flawed.
00:37:32.320 --> 00:37:42.159
I think that they're I believe that autism, ADHD, these are normal, like normal in that they are part of a normal neurodiversity.
00:37:42.400 --> 00:37:49.679
I think that we just live in a neurotypical world where that brain type is very much so, it's just set up for that brain type.
00:37:49.920 --> 00:38:12.800
And so my issue here is I think that if we took it out of the pathologizing and making it a like treating it like it's a disease or a problem or a bad thing or something to be, you know, quote unquote cured, I think we could catch right us way earlier on in the process, because then you would not be looking for the problematic behaviors, which is what those are based on.
00:38:12.960 --> 00:38:20.880
If you look at the diagnostic process, so much of it is based on does this behavior inconvenience a neurotypical system?
00:38:21.199 --> 00:38:21.440
Yeah.
00:38:21.599 --> 00:38:26.400
And that's like, oh, you know, oh boy, and it's all focused on deficits, right?
00:38:26.559 --> 00:38:27.920
Deficit this, deficit that.
00:38:28.079 --> 00:38:40.079
Well, I was not presenting with a lot of those deficit pieces enough that they would have like, even if I had gotten tested when I was little, a little girl, I don't think that they would have it would have tracked because I present so differently.
00:38:40.239 --> 00:38:45.519
So I think there's a lot of catching up uh that the Western medical system is having to do.
00:38:45.679 --> 00:38:52.800
And in the meantime, like, you know, autistic women, for instance, they're nine times more likely to die by suicide, right?
00:38:52.960 --> 00:39:06.559
Um now people say, like, some people say the statistic is skewed, but uh, you know, what I have seen is that approximately 80% of autistic women are not diagnosed by the time that they're 18, not diagnosed.
00:39:06.719 --> 00:39:08.320
So that means 80% of the time.
00:39:08.480 --> 00:39:16.239
And let's say even if that is a skewed statistic, because some people say that it is, um, even if we have that, we'll say 40%, right?
00:39:16.320 --> 00:39:17.840
Even that's too much, right?
00:39:17.920 --> 00:39:18.800
It's too much.
00:39:18.960 --> 00:39:23.840
So I think that it's a really good time to be having these conversations around this particular topic.
00:39:24.159 --> 00:39:25.599
Yeah, absolutely.
00:39:25.840 --> 00:39:30.400
Yeah, it's just there's so many um that are just slipping through the clack cracks.
00:39:30.480 --> 00:39:34.800
Like I definitely feel like my daughter is, right?
00:39:35.039 --> 00:39:35.440
Yeah.
00:39:35.679 --> 00:39:58.079
And um yeah, and I feel like the the system has been created for neurotypicals, and I feel like they're they're neuro spicy folks out there have such gifts, and the the creative powers that be within the neurodivergent community is so phenomenal.
00:39:58.320 --> 00:40:07.760
Like I really just love them and honor them, and I'm I but I think I I also too, I think I'm just comfortable with like weirdos.
00:40:07.840 --> 00:40:10.000
Like that's where like my jam is, right?
00:40:10.159 --> 00:40:15.440
Like I don't I don't really hang out with nor normies, right?
00:40:15.599 --> 00:40:28.000
And I think so, like however they are, whether they're spiritual, like way spiritual people and they're talking to spirits all day long, or they've got some real niche thing that they're way obsessed with.
00:40:28.079 --> 00:40:31.280
I'm like, cool, like I'm I'm cool with all of it.
00:40:31.599 --> 00:40:40.800
And um, I think for me, it always comes back to are we available to be our most authentic true self, right?
00:40:40.880 --> 00:40:47.599
Like I don't care who you are, if you're neurotypical or not, like I I want those real types of conversations.
00:40:47.679 --> 00:41:36.880
And I find that the neurotypicals, because they have that biases that you're speaking of, it's almost like they're less likely to be genuine, you know, really show up in their intimate conversations to like they're actually like the supreme masters of masking in a way, you know, and it's just like how can we how can we create signals of safety for everyone, for everyone to really allow themselves to show up in their authenticity and their vulnerability and going, This is what I struggle with, because I do believe every single human on this planet doesn't have an has an easy vacation here, like there's no stuff possible.
00:41:37.039 --> 00:41:51.519
Like we agree, we all have stuff, and so if we all have stuff, can we get real about it and and share about it in a way that we can empathize and honor one another for whatever our gifts are?
00:41:51.760 --> 00:41:52.880
Yeah, I'd love that.
00:41:53.039 --> 00:41:54.000
I think that's so beautiful.
00:41:54.159 --> 00:41:56.960
Everything you just said, I was like, ah, like melting over here.
00:41:57.119 --> 00:41:58.800
Yes, yes, 100% yes.
00:41:58.960 --> 00:42:13.440
And I mean, honestly, if we had that, if everyone had the ability or not ability, but like the space and the safety to just be who they are, I don't think we would even need any of these labels because people will just be who they are.
00:42:13.599 --> 00:42:23.840
Yeah, I think that the label comes in because because we have to fight for sort of our right to exist and and and think and process the world in the way that we we do.
00:42:24.000 --> 00:42:27.280
And and it's it's such a big thing that we're moving into.
00:42:27.360 --> 00:42:31.760
But I think it's so it's so powerful to be having these conversations and talking about it in this way.
00:42:31.840 --> 00:42:41.840
And I love that you, I love what you said too about the signals of safety that was like, oh yes, like how can we do that more in our professional lives, right?
00:42:41.920 --> 00:42:55.199
In our businesses, and I do think it's become even more and more important for us as business owners to make sure that we are understanding that there are different types of neurotypes, that they move differently, understanding ableism, that's a huge thing.
00:42:55.360 --> 00:43:02.880
Um, and being able to accommodate people and and kind of meet them where they're at so that we all can be nourished, right?
00:43:02.960 --> 00:43:06.559
Ultimately, and do whatever it is that we are born here to do.
00:43:06.800 --> 00:43:09.039
So uh it's a whole, it's a whole thing.
00:43:09.280 --> 00:43:10.159
It's a whole thing.
00:43:10.320 --> 00:43:10.559
Yeah.
00:43:10.639 --> 00:43:19.440
And I feel like where we could possibly be in 20 years is so much closer to the ideal than 20 years ago to now.
00:43:19.599 --> 00:43:35.679
You know, like I think we are making huge, great progress because I I feel like we have such a flood of these neuro beautiful, neurodivergent souls that are coming into this world to really radically shift the institutionalized systems.
00:43:35.760 --> 00:43:37.760
Like that's personally my belief, right?
00:43:37.920 --> 00:43:40.639
And I see the beauty of that.
00:43:40.800 --> 00:43:45.280
And so it's like, yeah, my to my daughter, I'm like, yeah, go disrupt the system.
00:43:45.360 --> 00:43:51.199
That's what you're here for, so that they can the eyes will come into the system and go, this isn't working.
00:43:51.360 --> 00:43:54.800
And I I can even recognize the shifts are already happening.
00:43:54.960 --> 00:43:58.639
I walked into an elementary classroom and they are doing guided visualizations with the kids.
00:43:58.719 --> 00:43:59.599
And I'm like, yes.
00:44:00.159 --> 00:44:05.679
This is a public school that's doing guided visualizations to some upper world realm where they're meeting a power animal.
00:44:05.840 --> 00:44:07.119
Fantastic, right?
00:44:07.360 --> 00:44:09.840
Like, you know, like right.
00:44:10.079 --> 00:44:28.719
So it's like, I feel like where it's starting to infiltrate the more we the the more these studies are coming along, the more the parents are, are they themselves neurodivergent, where there's more demand for advocacy for these types of things.
00:44:28.960 --> 00:44:33.599
I just think this the system is so the school system is the really one that I'm thinking of.
00:44:33.679 --> 00:44:45.519
The school system is so broken, built on a model of just being producers instead of creatives, that the system is coming to a place of where it's going to break.
00:44:45.840 --> 00:44:47.599
And we're in the midst of it.
00:44:47.760 --> 00:44:50.320
Just with so many other systems that are going on right now.
00:44:50.400 --> 00:44:57.599
Like the systems right now are getting put the spotlight on them so that they can go like it's not working for the masses.
00:44:57.760 --> 00:44:59.280
This isn't going to how it's be.
00:44:59.440 --> 00:45:02.079
And the population is going to demand something different.
00:45:02.159 --> 00:45:04.960
And I just feel like we're really in it right now.
00:45:05.280 --> 00:45:06.079
We really are.
00:45:06.239 --> 00:45:07.840
I could not agree more with you.
00:45:07.920 --> 00:45:10.559
Like, spot on it's reaching critical mass.
00:45:10.639 --> 00:45:13.039
And that's what we we are witnessing, right?
00:45:13.199 --> 00:45:16.719
Them getting to max capacity in terms of what people will tolerate.
00:45:16.800 --> 00:45:18.960
And they're breaking, they're breaking down.
00:45:19.119 --> 00:45:20.079
And that's a good thing.
00:45:20.400 --> 00:45:36.320
We need them to so that we can create something different, something that is actually going to be, like you said, you know, create creatives or nurture creatives rather than just producers, because there is such a toxic productivity vein that runs through our entire society.
00:45:36.400 --> 00:45:54.639
That, and that's one of the reasons like I burned out last year before my diagnoses, like my diagnosis, is because even with how in tune I am and how much I've designed my business around myself, I didn't understand how much more I needed because I was just so conditioned to just push through.
00:45:54.719 --> 00:46:04.880
And and that's beautiful in that I was adaptable and resilient, but it was not beautiful in that eventually that runs out, that energy, that that fuel to like push yourself to keep going.
00:46:05.039 --> 00:46:09.760
And so it broke down and it and it was a really scary time, to be honest.
00:46:09.920 --> 00:46:15.599
Like I don't know that I even when I was in a cult, I don't know that I ever felt like my spirit break, right?
00:46:15.760 --> 00:46:16.880
Like that deep.
00:46:17.039 --> 00:46:18.559
And that I mean, everything broke.
00:46:18.719 --> 00:46:22.480
My mind broke, my heart broke when I was in occult that that situation.
00:46:22.719 --> 00:46:29.840
But going into autistic burnout, not understanding what's happening, like it, yeah, something in me was just like, what happened here?
00:46:30.079 --> 00:46:32.960
So being able to get answers, being able to now get support.
00:46:33.039 --> 00:46:34.960
I have so much more support in place.
00:46:35.119 --> 00:46:36.880
I don't feel guilty about the support.
00:46:37.039 --> 00:46:39.039
I don't feel stupid about that support.
00:46:39.119 --> 00:46:40.239
That was a huge thing for me.
00:46:40.400 --> 00:46:41.920
My entire life, I felt stupid.
00:46:42.079 --> 00:46:44.159
My entire life I was trying to prove I wasn't.
00:46:44.239 --> 00:46:49.760
But again, that cognitive dissonance, I'm I've always been intelligent, like always gotten really good grades.
00:46:49.840 --> 00:46:52.239
I have a master's degree, like I've created this business.
00:46:52.320 --> 00:46:59.599
Like there's so many things that indicate like that I'm I'm objectively not unintelligent at bare minimum, right?
00:46:59.760 --> 00:47:04.480
And so it was the the feeling of stupid was I'm different.
00:47:04.719 --> 00:47:10.159
I don't completely understand when people are saying certain things or making certain jokes.
00:47:10.320 --> 00:47:13.039
And so I internalized that, well, I must be stupid.
00:47:13.119 --> 00:47:14.639
There must be something wrong with me.
00:47:14.800 --> 00:47:22.000
And I carried that with me at an identity level until I could really access it and like push it out of my body.
00:47:22.159 --> 00:47:29.599
So it's been amazing on a personal level, but even on a business level, I know you were talking about that kind of full circle too, with my business.
00:47:29.840 --> 00:47:37.840
It means that I'm now creating a new business structure that deeply honors my my true capacity, my nervous system at this point.
00:47:37.920 --> 00:47:44.159
And then I'm teaching and showing others how to do the same thing as they create, you know, more success in their business.
00:47:44.480 --> 00:47:47.199
A lot of my clients, you know, they're taking off even more.
00:47:47.280 --> 00:47:55.360
And I'm so happy I get to be there to help help them to understand, like, ooh, you think you want to go that way, you don't want to go that way, right?
00:47:55.440 --> 00:47:56.960
Like you actually need to go this way.
00:47:57.199 --> 00:48:05.440
And the interesting ripple effect, too, is as I've gotten diagnosed, like some of my clients have been like, oh man, like, and then gotten diagnosed themselves.
00:48:05.519 --> 00:48:09.199
I know at least two of them recently who have been diagnosed autistic as well.
00:48:09.360 --> 00:48:17.920
Um, again, very high masking, you would not know it unless you knew exactly what to look for for somebody who is high masking.
00:48:18.320 --> 00:48:18.800
Yeah.
00:48:19.039 --> 00:48:20.960
Okay, final, final question.
00:48:21.119 --> 00:48:22.079
You ready?
00:48:22.400 --> 00:48:23.360
I'm ready.
00:48:24.480 --> 00:48:35.440
Wait on if you have one piece of advice for breaky practitioners, spiritual practitioners to be neuroaffirming, what would it be?
00:48:36.239 --> 00:48:49.920
I think it's literally to start having a like just educate yourself, start looking at different neurotypes because like if you have ADHD, you are 300% more likely to become an entrepreneur.
00:48:50.000 --> 00:48:57.599
So especially if you are a business owner working with other business owners, like you are encountering a higher level of neurodivergence, right?
00:48:57.760 --> 00:48:58.480
Per capita.
00:48:58.719 --> 00:49:06.960
So educate yourself about the different neurotypes, looking at it from the lens of what if this is a normal part of neurodiversity, right?
00:49:07.039 --> 00:49:10.639
And it just means have you ever played DD, Dungeons and Dragons?
00:49:10.880 --> 00:49:13.039
I've I've got the books haven't done it yet.
00:49:13.280 --> 00:49:14.639
Oh, girl, you gotta do it.
00:49:14.719 --> 00:49:15.119
It's so fun.
00:49:15.199 --> 00:49:15.679
It's so fun.
00:49:15.840 --> 00:49:16.079
Okay.
00:49:16.159 --> 00:49:22.159
So anybody who who has like knows about Dungeons and Dragons, when you create a character, you have stats, okay?
00:49:22.320 --> 00:49:26.400
So like your strength stat, your intelligence stat, your wisdom stat, right?
00:49:26.719 --> 00:49:29.599
So you roll to figure out how high the stat is.
00:49:29.679 --> 00:49:32.159
The idea is the higher the stat, the more powerful the character.
00:49:32.320 --> 00:49:41.280
Well, I look at people with autism with ADHD, it's kind of like we have a really high stat, like you can go up to 20, like 20 in intelligence or something, right?
00:49:41.360 --> 00:49:45.920
And then let's say the charisma, you know, is down at a one, right?
00:49:46.079 --> 00:49:49.679
So we have a really high stat at like starting level, right?
00:49:49.840 --> 00:49:51.679
And a really low stat somewhere else.
00:49:51.840 --> 00:49:57.039
That's that's how I have noticed, at least for my neurodivergence, my flavor, and other people too.
00:49:57.119 --> 00:50:05.440
It's like we're really amazing at a very specific thing and we struggle in another area versus like a neurotypical brain, which is more even across the board, right?
00:50:05.599 --> 00:50:07.920
Might have one that's one or two a little bit higher.
00:50:08.079 --> 00:50:12.800
So if we approach it from like, oh, this person has their gifted, right?
00:50:12.880 --> 00:50:21.360
If you're not neurotypical, they probably are gifted in some capacity and they're also um we'll say vulnerable, or you can word use the word disabled.
00:50:21.519 --> 00:50:26.880
I personally don't think the word disabled, I used to think it was a really bad thing, like, oh God, I don't want to say I'm disabled.
00:50:26.960 --> 00:50:31.840
Like, I don't want to, but now I understand that was just my ableism, my internalized ableism.
00:50:32.000 --> 00:50:33.679
There's nothing wrong with being disabled.
00:50:33.760 --> 00:50:35.119
That's not a moral failing.
00:50:35.280 --> 00:50:41.599
So whether you use the word vulnerable or disabled, they're gifted and they have something that they struggle with, right?
00:50:41.840 --> 00:50:47.599
Versus understanding with a neurotypical human, they're gonna be a little bit more even across the board.
00:50:48.000 --> 00:50:49.039
Yeah, they're more even.
00:50:49.280 --> 00:51:00.880
And so if you just start to under educate yourself and understand that, then you can start to create different avenues, like you've already done, of ways for people to um uh take in your information, integrate it, and then use it.
00:51:01.119 --> 00:51:01.679
I love it.
00:51:01.840 --> 00:51:02.960
Thank you so much, Erin.
00:51:03.119 --> 00:51:08.480
And if folks want to get a hold of you and want to take any of your classes, like what do you have going on right now?
00:51:08.639 --> 00:51:09.199
Let us know.
00:51:09.280 --> 00:51:13.519
And also know for our listeners, all of these links were gonna be added to the show notes.
00:51:13.760 --> 00:51:14.639
You can find them there.
00:51:14.960 --> 00:51:15.679
Yeah, amazing.
00:51:15.760 --> 00:51:16.000
Thank you.
00:51:16.079 --> 00:51:20.800
Yeah, so I'm always teaching five element dragonfire Reiki almost every month or every other month.
00:51:20.880 --> 00:51:21.920
I'm teaching a live class.
00:51:22.000 --> 00:51:24.639
It's usually the first two Mondays of the month.
00:51:24.800 --> 00:51:30.880
Um, and so there are nine levels in five element dragonfire Reiki versus the traditional like three or four.
00:51:30.960 --> 00:51:36.320
That's because levels four through eight, we go through the five elements fire, earth, metal, water, and wood, though.
00:51:36.400 --> 00:51:43.039
And I teach the entire um main elemental meridian system in those classes while also working with those elemental dragons.
00:51:43.199 --> 00:51:51.920
So uh definitely you know if you're a Reiki master, Reiki level three of any lineage, you can hop into level four through eight in any order.
00:51:52.239 --> 00:51:57.039
I teach them, I teach each of the elements in the season that they're most alive.
00:51:57.199 --> 00:51:59.760
So in Eastern medicine, summer is the fire element.
00:52:00.000 --> 00:52:02.159
So I just taught level four, which is the fire dragon.
00:52:02.239 --> 00:52:07.840
I'll be teaching uh level five, the earth dragon, at the time of this recording, which is you know, late summer.
00:52:08.000 --> 00:52:12.639
Um, because in Eastern medicine they have five seasons, they break summer into two instead of four.
00:52:12.880 --> 00:52:16.719
And so um, that's coming up here too very, very soon.
00:52:16.960 --> 00:52:21.440
And uh the other thing I have is my year-long mastermind and mystery school dragon oracle.
00:52:21.519 --> 00:52:23.360
And this is like the identity level shift.
00:52:23.440 --> 00:52:35.360
This is where you're birthing your world-shifting medicine and you're moving from healer or partially hidden priestess to full-on oracle, which means that you are fully expressed, you're richly resourced.
00:52:35.440 --> 00:52:44.079
Uh, you are um your business is your temple, and so you're birthing a new modality or a new um new version of your medicine into the world.
00:52:44.239 --> 00:52:46.800
So that one I kind of have ongoing enrollment.
00:52:46.960 --> 00:52:50.159
It it just depends, especially if somebody comes in on a one-on-one.
00:52:50.320 --> 00:52:52.800
But those are my two, my two main babies right now.
00:52:53.039 --> 00:52:53.679
I love it.
00:52:53.840 --> 00:52:59.920
Well, definitely check out the show notes to our listeners and thank you, thank you so much, Erin, for coming on.
00:53:00.079 --> 00:53:08.159
It has been such a fun conversation and I look forward to seeing how this how it all unfolds.
00:53:08.239 --> 00:53:12.719
Like I could see you definitely coming back on and love, I love the conversations.
00:53:12.800 --> 00:53:14.079
I love what you're gifting the world.
00:53:14.239 --> 00:53:16.079
So thank you for all that you are.
00:53:16.559 --> 00:53:17.039
Thank you.
00:53:17.199 --> 00:53:19.599
This was amazing, and I would love to come back on anytime.
00:53:20.159 --> 00:53:20.400
Beautiful.
00:53:20.559 --> 00:53:20.719
Thank you.
00:53:21.199 --> 00:53:21.440
Thank you.
00:53:21.599 --> 00:53:22.159
Thank you.
