Snatch

August is officially here on We Drink & We Watch Things, and, as my gift to him, I turned over the keys to the broadcast schedule and let him curate every single movie for the entire month. To kick off his birthday month in style, we are throwing it back to 2000 for Guy Ritchie’s hyper-stylized, lightning-fast British crime masterpiece: Snatch.

To set the mood for unlicensed boxing matches, underground bookies, and multi-million-dollar diamonds, we are pouring Lemar's cocktail creation - Mickey's Right Cross. It is punchy, rich, and goes down smooth enough to make you feel like a champion.

This week, we dive into the chaotic London underworld that Ritchie crafted so brilliantly. We celebrate Brad Pitt’s unforgettable, scene-stealing performance as the un-understandable "Pikey" boxer Mickey O'Neil, Alan Ford’s terrifying appearance as Brick Top, and Jason Statham’s iconic turn as Turkish. We break down the film's kinetic editing, the endless parade of quotable dialogue, and that hilariously convoluted web of double-crosses involving pigs, squeaky toys, and a giant stolen diamond. It is a loud, energetic, and wildly fun tribute to one of Lemar's absolute favorites.

If you can recite every word of Brick Top's monologues, or if you just want to hear us kick off a month of birthday hype with a classic, this is an episode you cannot miss. We are blending our deep love for classic 2000s crime cinema with our usual casual banter, making this the perfect opening bell for Lemar's birthday month.
