INFORMAZIONI SU QUESTO EPISODIO
Benn is a 3 time olympian in the sport of Track and Field as a Discus thrower and is the Australian National record holder. He’s the first ever indigenous athlete to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and is currently living in Sweden working as the High Performance Director at one of Stockholm's Track and Field club, Hammirby Friidrot.
I wanted to bring him onto the podcast, because his Life of impact filters from a few different perspectives, and I’m empowered by his Pride as an Olympian and his passion to give back to his communities that have supported him along his journey.
Even if you’re not involved in sport at any level, you’ll get a lot from this one.
In this episode you will learn:
How the importance of embracing your culture can strengthen your deeper drive to succeed.
Skills that athletes develop during their careers that make them more employable.
The power of knowledge sharing and yarning circles
Mental Health issues in sport from an insider's perspective
The art behind flipping the bird, and throwing everything from pizza to prosthetic legs.
And how his experience of being treated like an athlete by management and not as a person throughout his career, has shaped his philosophy in his new role as High Performance Director at his athletics club in Sweden, to build a relationships based culture and environment by providing mentoring opportunities and treating all coaches and athletes as humans first
