#273 - Executives or Elders

Lynn Green tackles two widespread misunderstandings about YWAM's move away from executive-style leadership: that "flattening the chart" means no hierarchy at all, and that it means less accountability. He traces the shift from title-based authority to biblical eldership — trust earned through character, not position — using Old Testament Israel's resistance to kingship, Lauren Cunningham's example of refusing an "empowered position," and the New Testament pattern of plural eldership as his case for why body-style leadership is healthier, more accountable, and more biblical than a single executive at the top.
