Concern for rough sleepers as Adelaide Parklands golf project recommences

As Adelaide’s Park Lands face major redevelopment, concerns are growing about what the changes could mean for people experiencing homelessness. 

While the government’s golf project aims to increase economic and tourism opportunities; others are deeply concerned about impact to the local flora and fauna and those who rely on the space, with some highlighting lack of documented supported provided to those who rely on the Parklands as shelter.  

Advocates are calling for the needs of Adelaide’s homeless community to be considered, and appropriate resources be allocated by the Government as plans for the Parklands move forward. 

Mij Tanith, a representative from the Gum Leaf Guild, says that these redevelopments will greatly affect those living rough.
