INFORMAZIONI SU QUESTO EPISODIO
Page builders make it easy to launch a website. Without web design fundamentals, though, that site gets hard and expensive to maintain as your business grows. Kevin Geary explains how classes, naming standards, and clean code keep a WordPress site easy to scale and protect the money clients put into it.
In this episode:
- Most page builders style everything at the ID level, which leaves sites nobody can maintain, and classes let you restyle a card on a thousand pages with one change.
- Many builders rename standard features, like calling a flex layout "columns," so beginners get stuck when they try to switch tools.
- Kevin has had clients come to him after their lead forms stopped working overnight, and he would fix the urgent problem first and then explain why the site had to be rebuilt.
- Etch saves everything you build as core Gutenberg blocks, so your content stays in WordPress even if you close Etch.
- Kevin's advice for anyone in web design is to learn the fundamentals and start working like a consultant, because AI will take over surface-level work.
