Training Camp Begins! Running Back by Committee? Strength of Defense? Kicking Game Stinks! | Script

Ohio State football training camp is heating up, and The Script presented by Dr Pepper is breaking down the biggest questions surrounding the Buckeyes as the season approaches. In this episode, Beanie Wells, Cardale Jones and Dave Holmes dive into the latest from Ohio State camp, starting with the Buckeyes’ running back room. Is a running back by committee the right approach, or will one player emerge as the clear No. 1 option? The crew discusses the competition, what Ohio State needs from the position and which backs could make an early impact. Also, does Legend Bey’s early suspension mean anything, or is it much ado about nothing? The conversation then turns to the Ohio State defense and a defensive backfield that could become one of the team’s biggest strengths. The guys discuss the talent in the secondary, including players making noise in camp and what that group could mean for the Buckeyes this season. Plus, there’s concern about the Ohio State kicking game. Baylor transfer Connor Hawkins arrived with high expectations, but missed kicks in practice have raised questions. How much should Buckeye fans worry, and can Ryan Day create enough game-like pressure in camp to know what his kickers will do on Saturdays? Plus, J.T. Barrett is elected to the Ohio State Hall of Fame, JSN and Jeremiah Smith earn coveted 99 video game ratings, and the Buckeyes land another elite prep quarterback for the future.
