TRASCRIZIONE 🔗
00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:01.840
Now, were you doing work in the Vatican?
00:00:01.840 --> 00:00:04.400
Is that how you Yes.
00:00:04.639 --> 00:00:11.279
So when I was a sister, that was my like first official assignment after I had made vows.
00:00:11.279 --> 00:00:12.880
It was kind of a shock.
00:00:12.880 --> 00:00:18.079
I just was like, okay, you know, and had the rose-colored glasses of being a newly professed sister.
00:00:18.079 --> 00:00:20.640
So I was like, I'll go wherever you send me, Lord.
00:00:20.640 --> 00:00:29.280
And um finished off that semester, ended up withdrawing, and was transferred on January 1st of 2015.
00:00:29.280 --> 00:00:33.840
So it that really began a whole thing.
00:00:33.840 --> 00:00:40.799
And so that first year was really serving the Holy Father, Pope Francis, at the time, um, directly.
00:00:40.799 --> 00:00:49.359
The biggest thing we did was going to the United States for the his apostolic visit when he came in September of 2016.
00:00:49.359 --> 00:00:52.560
Um that's not the biggest thing that you did.
00:00:52.719 --> 00:00:55.759
Because you Yeah, so how about that visit to the US?
00:00:55.759 --> 00:01:03.759
And you were so instrumental in planning his visit and taking care of getting proper rest, organizing the laundry and everything.
00:01:03.759 --> 00:01:07.760
And I hear that you had a wonderful- it was just a trip and a half.
00:01:07.760 --> 00:01:10.959
But you had a wonderful dinner with him one evening, no?
00:01:10.959 --> 00:01:11.599
At the North.
00:01:12.480 --> 00:01:16.480
I I think, well, A, I didn't really want the job, to be honest.
00:01:16.480 --> 00:01:23.120
So it was just like, like I very was like tunnel vision of like what needed to be done.
00:01:23.120 --> 00:01:23.840
You know what I mean?
00:01:23.840 --> 00:01:26.319
Like the fanfare of like, oh, you're getting to serve the Holy Father.
00:01:26.319 --> 00:01:28.239
I remember when sisters would be like, that's so cool.
00:01:28.239 --> 00:01:28.879
You get to do that.
00:01:28.879 --> 00:01:30.079
Like, do you want to trade?
00:01:30.079 --> 00:01:32.079
Because I'm really stressed out.
00:01:32.079 --> 00:01:35.760
Um, and I was very tired.
00:01:35.760 --> 00:01:37.760
It was an exhausting trip.
00:01:37.760 --> 00:01:47.439
Uh the Italians, as I think you might know, Father Houjol, um, they don't go to bed until like very late because they eat dinner.
00:01:47.439 --> 00:01:49.680
Dinner doesn't start until 8:39.
00:01:49.680 --> 00:01:53.120
And so the Holy Father wouldn't eat until late.
00:01:53.120 --> 00:01:59.280
I'd still have to get up at 4:30 in the morning for prayers every morning, regardless of when I went to bed.
00:01:59.280 --> 00:02:04.879
And so this was maybe like day three or four of the visit.
00:02:04.879 --> 00:02:06.719
And I was exhausted.
00:02:06.719 --> 00:02:09.520
Mind you, this was after his trip to Cuba.
00:02:09.520 --> 00:02:12.960
So it was like, it was just a very exhausting time in my life.
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:16.000
Dinner, and he goes, What's next?
00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:18.639
And I'm like, What do you mean, what's next?
00:02:18.639 --> 00:02:20.319
And he goes, What's next?
00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:23.039
And I was like, What's next is you're going to bed.
00:02:23.039 --> 00:02:27.919
And then I like proceeded to go around the table and you're going to bed, you're going to bed, we're all going to bed.
00:02:27.919 --> 00:02:29.919
I was like, I'd had it.
00:02:29.919 --> 00:02:33.039
And he starts laughing, which then aggravated me more.
00:02:33.039 --> 00:02:34.479
I was like, What are you laughing at?
00:02:34.479 --> 00:02:37.280
And he goes, I meant the next course.
00:02:37.280 --> 00:02:41.439
And I was like, Oh, uh, I think it's fish.
00:02:43.199 --> 00:02:44.240
Oh, it's like as the others.
00:02:44.719 --> 00:02:49.039
Remember, there was a sister who was watching all this from like the kitchen area.
00:02:49.039 --> 00:02:52.879
There was the door had like a little glass window through it.
00:02:52.879 --> 00:02:54.560
I could just see her peeking through.
00:02:54.560 --> 00:02:57.840
And the look on her face of like, what did she just say?
00:02:57.840 --> 00:03:00.800
What did she just say to the Holy Father?
00:03:00.800 --> 00:03:05.759
But they had there were lots of those little you always speak truth to power.
00:03:05.759 --> 00:03:06.639
Always.
00:03:06.639 --> 00:03:07.199
That was.
00:03:07.199 --> 00:03:09.680
I remember my provincial was like, Do you always say whatever you're thinking?
00:03:09.680 --> 00:03:11.120
I'm like, Yes.
00:03:11.120 --> 00:03:12.879
Yes, I do.
00:03:13.120 --> 00:03:14.960
That's usually tough in the convent.
