lexi: I wanna say I'm shocked, but I'm just not. Coming from Lamar, I'm just I'm I'm just not.
Tess: the fact that Michael likes his marshmallows burnt has left a wild impression on my kids
lexi: I like to be in bed at least at the latest by like 9 30.
Tess: If he can be a functional and good member of society out there, perfect. Then I've done my job.
lexi: Hm Like just the stuff he comes up with and just like whoop
Tess: Welcome back to Sisters in Session, where Therapy meets sister talk and nothing's off limits, where two sisters who overthink everything, laugh too loud and try to make sense of life's chaos one session at a time.
lexi: From relationships and self-care to the messy middle of growing up, it's part heart to heart, part comedy hour and all real talk with zero chill. So grab your coffee or drink of choice. It's not even lunchtime yet, maybe stick to
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: the and settle in. It's time for your weekly dose of sisterhood and self-reflection.
Tess: been a minute.
lexi: Yeah, and it has.
Tess: Unintentional minute.
lexi: It's just life, guys. I mean
Tess: Part of it, like, I just need to be and I do plan to like just be disciplined about it.
lexi: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Tess: Yeah I mean, whether it's just you, whether it's just me, if our schedules don't mesh, I don't ever see you doing it without me because I don't know if you know what you're doing, but
lexi: I can assure you I don't. Could I learn
Tess: Ha ha
lexi: sure? Probably if I had like if you got hit by a car and I had to do
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: Yeah, I mean like that could happen.
Tess: Mm-hmm. Yeah. No it could.
lexi: So I You know, I just thought It won't be Tessa getting hit by a car. It'll be Tessa hitting someone with a
Tess: Lexi, that is graveside. Well, it's like
lexi: I know.
Tess: no, it's not like gra I've never said that, but like it's not it's not podcast I could go to jail. It is not podcast. It's sharing.
lexi: Or or I could talk about we could we could laugh about the time that I wrecked the e-bike in the middle of the road with the kids on the back.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: That happened. My ankle was
Tess: Listen, can I just
lexi: pretty much like torn to shreds, and crew had the audacity when we got off the road to stand up and be like, I hurt my hand.
Tess: Ha.
lexi: Like, mind you, there is a microscopic scratch on his hand. So like
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: Don't come at me right now, girl.
Tess: I feel like this just needs to be said before we go any further. I know a slick back is not my look, okay? I just like I know it's not, but my hair needs washed so bad. And the with the way that things ended up playing out, I should have just washed it. I should've just washed it and been done with it. I told Lamar
lexi: My hair needs.
Tess: that we were recording today. I already am kinda like I can kinda talk myself into like, yeah, no, the slick back, it looks it looks fine. It looks fine. like kind of like psych myself up for it all all all the while not really believing it. Lamar, however, hates a slick back. Hates
lexi: Does he?
Tess: my word. You know he always thinks I'm gorgeous, Gorgina, but like and I'm sure he still does now, but like kind of like I told him that we were
lexi: Just like not much.
Tess: Yeah. I told him we're recording, he goes, Are you gonna be on camera? And I was like Yes But thank you.
lexi: I'm not I wanna say I'm shocked, but I'm just not. Coming from Lamar, I'm just I'm I'm just not.
Tess: So I don't if you think I don't look my best, not you, the people. If y'all don't think I don't if you all think I don't look my best, it's okay. Neither do I, neither does Lamar. Lexi, on the other hand, treated herself to some new hair. You like her hair? Thanks, she just bought it.
lexi: She saw it, she liked it, she won it, she she wanted it. She got it. It is.
Tess: And it's giving the little curtain bang action.
lexi: Well these I already had, you just you just they weren't like n really noticeable 'cause my hair is so not like
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: it's now.
Tess: Well, once I get my I need to go get my hair trimmed. Once I do, my bangs are gonna need trimmed. I'm hoping I'm hoping they're at the current bang length. I'm not sure we're there yet, but we'll see.
lexi: Yeah, they're just kinda there's they can sometimes be a pain to like 'cause I don't like hair in my face, really. Like
Tess: Mm.
lexi: you I feel like people can deal with the like the like I could almost do a bang. If I like blow dried it and like put it for
Tess: Mm.
lexi: Maybe I'll try that. Michael Michael would be ecstatic.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: He loves the bang.
Tess: So what were you gonna talk about before you said that you would bring it up on the pod? Before we started?
lexi: I don't know.
Tess: We're getting we're getting ready to start and you were like, Do you know what? And then you're like, I'll just I'll just save it for the pod.
lexi: Yeah, I don't I don't I don't have a
Tess: Okay. Okay, great.
lexi: brain cell. I don't have a spare brain cell.
Tess: No, me neither. Okay, so today we'll probably just kind of catch up a little bit because it has been a dang minute. So we did not plan to take this extended break. however, I had so we're obviously back home. and I had two mouth sores that literally took
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: me out for like two so like they weren't just like both here at the same time and gone, which in some ways would have been better. They were like one was here, then it was coming and going, and then as it was going, another one came. So it was like a full I they could not talk. I stayed strapped with Ora gel. Like all I couldn't eat without Ora gel. I couldn't talk without aura gel. It was a mess.
lexi: When Tessa gets a canker sore Tessa gets a kanker sore. Do you know what I mean? Like they're
Tess: Yeah. Yeah.
lexi: intense, they're big, they're gross. It's it it's just like it's it's a lot. It's a lot mentally, I feel like. Anytime
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: I even have like a little bit of one, I'm like,
Tess: No, anything with my mouth or throat, I'm done. I'm done. Put me down. Literally. Take me out back and put me down.
lexi: Mm-hmm. I was literally about to say take me out back. Yeah.
Tess: Yeah. I could not as we're sitting here
lexi: She's she just wasn't living her best life.
Tess: no. As we're sitting here, I could not hate the way I look bo more in this moment on camera. So I'm just gonna have to get past that, but just no. But anyways
lexi: Honestly, I don't think it looks bad.
Tess: And I appreciate that. And you're probably right. It is probably more in my head than what I your hair's
lexi: I feel like it's
Tess: just like giving today. And I love that for you.
lexi: I know what was gonna say. I know what I was gonna say.
Tess: Okay.
lexi: I did heatless curls. These are heatless curls.
Tess: Slay.
lexi: And you know, it was my first time ever doing them because my hair up until this point was too thin or too short. It just wouldn't stay in. So like I never really like gave it a shot. Like I would be like trying it and I'm just like no, no, no! And I'd get overstimulated and take it out. But yes, this these are heatless curls. If you're not watching on YouTube. This is like it's it's voluminous, it's pretty, it's yeah, it's it worked out really well. I'm very surprised.
Tess: I'm gonna tell Lamar we need to find money in the budget somewhere. Which we don't have at this current time. For hair extensions, but it's just gonna be a dream because like I said, which I'll I'll get more into that later. but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to talk him into that at this time. Maybe I'll ask for them for Christmas. If I
lexi: there you go. So
Tess: get them done by Jess 'Cause her install is obviously cheaper. How much can it really be for people to just move up if I buy the hair and have them installed up there at Christmas?
lexi: I don't know. I know what she charges for a move up, but I don't know.
Tess: What's she charge?
lexi: A hundred dollars.
Tess: Okay, so even if it's like double that to move up down here, but if I do
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: the initial cause I just know that if I try to go to start down here, they're gonna charge me like probably over five hundred dollars just for the hair, let alone the install. I don't know. I shouldn't say that. I have absolutely no
lexi: It is exp I I shouldn't make that face because I know that it is expensive, but she does she doesn't she doesn't make anything on the hair. You know what I'm saying? Like
Tess: Yes.
lexi: she just she just lets you pay what the price is for the hair and then she charges for the install.
Tess: Yeah. Well that's what whenever we got done, whenever we had extensions before, we just bought the hair and then like I don't think we she just she just charged us what she has to pay. anyways. Lexi's hair is giving, mine is not, and that's just where we're at today. Thank you. So anyway, so that's
lexi: I think it looks good, but cheese is not. You're welcome.
Tess: what so unintentional break. I couldn't talk. I was moving back, traveling the US. Lexi was camping. It was just August was crazy.
lexi: It was my birthday too, Golden.
Tess: Lexi is now twenty eight
lexi: I am
Tess: and she's thriving.
lexi: I am.
Tess: Do you remember all those times she fussed about being almost twenty eight? She's over it 'cause now it's here. She just dreaded it for so long that like the fact that it's here is no big deal.
lexi: I I I just told Tessa this the other day on FaceTime. I said I feel better being and it like doesn't even matter. I feel better being twenty eight than I did twenty seven. I don't know. I just like saying I'm twenty eight better than I like saying I'm twenty seven. I don't know the science behind that.
Tess: either. so we can just give a rundown of like what we've been up to. And we'll call it good for this easing back into this. so we obviously got back It was fine. It was well no. The whole experience was good. The whole experience for those of you who have kept, you know, air you know, Airbnb our house, living in the RB, good experience. Honestly great guest. No issues. No issues from guest. Airbnb experience as a h whole. Nine point eight out of ten. And the point two is for that little loser.
lexi: I know who you're talking about, I know who you're talking about.
Tess: Ew, what a little I can't even say what I want to actually call him, but regard
lexi: Ooh.
Tess: regardless. Great experience. I will say coming back to our house, so obviously after the last guest left, our cleaners came in, our cleaner, she came in, did the thing, so it was like ready for us to come back to. However, even though it was clean, it just kind of felt like the sanctity of like our home. had been like tainted, obviously. Like I can explain it because again there was no damage, there's nothing
lexi: No but
Tess: But
lexi: knowing some of the things that went on, that's fair.
Tess: Wow. But it just like was weird. Like everything looked the same, but it didn't feel like home. Like it did
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: before we left. I will say like time has passed, obviously. it's been almost a month since we've been back, and it does feel more that way now. Except for guys. Guys. This is why I don't have money for my hair extensions. Because
lexi: She's not okay.
Tess: what?
lexi: I said she's not okay.
Tess: I'm not okay. just like long story short, I'm just gonna give you the brief rundown. we have mini splits. That's how our house
lexi: Short story long.
Tess: short story long, we have mini splits, and that's how our house is heated, cold. anyways, let's just say that they were not installed properly. And that's as simply as I can put it. And so these dang things have been killing my house from underneath, from the inside. It's an inside job. They've tried to take us out, and they succeeded. So basically the story is they don't draining properly. They aren't insulated properly, which is causing moisture inside my balls and inside my floor. And so yes, we have to pay to have those correctly corrected. And and fix my floors, guys. My floors, they're like now I really did mess this up because I'm nuts and around. My floors, guys, they're some parts they wobble. My plank flooring. And so I can't have nice hair because somebody didn't install my mini slits properly whenever they put them in. It wasn't us. Like we bought the house with them.
lexi: Whoever it's called Whoever installed the mini splits, they're gonna rue the day.
Tess: They're gonna ruin the day. If I ever f see you on the streets, if I find out who you are and I see you on the streets
lexi: Faccio.
Tess: I'm a scrapper.
lexi: You owe me a check.
Tess: Yes. Matter of fact, skip the check just by my hair.
lexi: Right. I feel like that's a trade off we could talk about.
Tess: so anyway, so that's where we're at. It's just been like so amongst so it almost feels like comb, but like poor Lamb, he's just been stressed. And for good reason. Because you just whenever it comes to that kind of thing, you just never know. Like you don't know. So then it's just like he's so worried and me too. Only I have the luxury of like not having to technically deal with it. I just stress because he's stressed.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: And it is so annoying. It's so annoying. Like all you had to do, like the fact that these were installed without being insulated, like the pipes that come is like just not correct. Just like nothing about that is correct. And so I really can't stand whenever people tried to cut corners and then it's at my expense. And whenever it's at my expense. Guys, I'm trying to live.
lexi: She doesn't care.
Tess: Like I'm trying to live and this is putting a damper on my living. And it's costing us. Not only is it costing us like actual money, time, guess who doesn't get to go on family vacation?
lexi: Lamb.
Tess: Lamar 'cause he has to stay here and fix the floors. And we're not all gonna stay.
lexi: And you know what? He loves that family baking.
Tess: Yes. And so and like realistically, like could I stay as well? Yes. However, hear me out. And I am not being selfish. In fact, it's very helpful that I'm taking the kids and going on family vacation because like he has no idea what he's gonna have to get into whenever he starts pulling up this floor and to try to think about living amongst that gives me anxiety and also like to have to like not be in the way. We do have the camper. So we would probably just reside from there. It's just the idea. I'm gonna go and have myself a nice relaxing week.
lexi: I'm gonna go to the beach. good luck, Lamar.
Tess: Yes. But still so annoying. Just so many things about it have been annoying. So we have had that going on as well. The kids have started back to school. Guys, we've been in school for this is our s the start of our second full week. Is that right?
lexi: I think so. Yeah.
Tess: Or is this Sadie Grace's third week? Sadie Grace's third week. I have a paper on my fridge. For a freaking poster, a project already. I'm so annoyed. Like I don't wanna paint Mars, okay?
lexi: Right. No, and who does?
Tess: So between so that's just a few things that have been happening in the last month since we've talked.
lexi: For legal reasons, what she meant to say is Eddie Grace doesn't want to paint Mars.
Tess: Right. And I d will let her.
lexi: Just for
Tess: Because I will let her because she will want to. If she was
lexi: You'll let her.
Tess: like Yeah. She wanted to do no for real. This was her suggestion. Okay, so the poster is the poster, and she wanted to put like a 3D of Mars on the poster board. I was like, of course, in my head, I'm already thinking. Boom.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: She was like I hadn't said that out loud yet. She was like so I was thinking like a plastic mixing bowl that we're not like using and I was like Not sure how that's gonna hold on a poster board. Also, I was like, you can't really paint plastic. Like it won't stick. She's like, well, I thought we would use some sort of like clay to like add texture, and like that. I'm just like, no. no, no, no. No.
lexi: honey.
Tess: If you can add texture, you can add some swirls with the paint.
lexi: Even like
Tess: I'll be fake.
lexi: even like a paper mache Modge pot, like that would be easier than clay.
Tess: Yeah, I'm still not doing that either. I there will be no paper mache.
lexi: It will not be paper mache.
Tess: No, I'm gonna get her a a sphere, a half sphere, foam, and some paints.
lexi: That's what we're gonna do.
Tess: What we're gonna do. But yeah, so mouth sores, my house is falling apart from the inside out. and school has started, and so that's been my life this past month. It's been crazy chaotic, a lot of good things, a lot of good things, but yeah, that's where I'm at trying to rehabilitate my ankle,
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: lest we forget. I did break my ankle.
lexi: It was broken.
Tess: It was in fact fractured.
lexi: After Loire said, Just walk on it.
Tess: Just walk on it. So I've been trying to do that 'cause my doctor at no point recommended therapy or prescribed therapy. so I've just been Dr. Chat GPT and I, my physician, have been working through a program. I do think it's getting better. I'm like working out, I'm walking. Which is good now. By the end of the day, it is still a little puffy, a little stiff. Whenever I wake up in the morning, my calf muscle is just like, girl, we're not bending. I don't know what you're doing, but but all in all, it could be worse. Could be worse. So how about you? What have you been up to in the month of August? Happy September.
lexi: I've been up till so you guys left. And that weekend we actually had already planned like a camping trip, which it was kind of I wasn't super like thrilled about because when you guys were leaving, we were coming back. Like we weren't gonna see you. Like you weren't gonna be here when we got back. So the adjustment period for that was a little rough. Like I had said that like there are certain things and I was like, I miss them. And then like there were a couple things when a couple times when Michael was like, I really do wish they were still here. And I was like, yeah, no, yeah, no, yeah. So like that adjustment, it did take a little while to like readjust. But then we went on another camping trip. We've really enjoyed the camping. We I think I'm gonna try to book another one, but to a different campsite that has like full hookups to like water, electricity. Yeah.
Tess: Have you camped yet like that?
lexi: No
Tess: That is camping. That is
lexi: Right.
Tess: It is so unmatched to just have unlimited access to water. I mean, obviously, like as you use it, you will have to like empty your tanks, but they're right there. Like you just
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: put the hose in the ground. It is so nice. You just shower
lexi: Yeah. So
Tess: in your camper, you just wash your dishes. You don't even think about it.
lexi: Well, we do that anyway.
Tess: I know you do, but then you're still like, how much water's in the freshwater tank? We still have to drain this tank, we have to take it, we have to haul the thing.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Whereas if it's just like you're plugged into their well, and then your little cord just not your cord, your hose just runs to the It's so nice. We had that in Indiana. So it was really great. I'm sorry. You were saying you're going camping, booking a full site. Just call her Yogi
lexi: Yeah, I think
Tess: Bear.
lexi: I think I will try to book somewhere, but anyway. There's something else I was gonna say.
Tess: I'm sorry.
lexi: no, it's okay. My birthday, obviously. Michael got me an e-bike and then some other things. It's kind of been like a thing for any celebration. We just go out and he buys me a bunch of stuff. So I love that personally. which
Tess: You know me?
lexi: It's funny because like he would do that anyway, really. Like if we were to go out shopping and I like pick something up, he would probably just buy it anyway. But it's just the idea, you know? Right.
Tess: I love to celebrate, so
lexi: and then I don't know, not a whole lot. Just like We've been going to scout for deer.
Tess: Fun.
lexi: Well, it is it's not bad because now we take the e bikes. So it's kind
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: of it's kind of like a trail ride. Like you were just riding, walk a little bit, ride, like it is fun. But I wish I I gotta see I gotta talk to him about like just like going on like a like maybe out to the lake and like riding.
Tess: Like just for a ride, not for like
lexi: Just yeah, just for a ride, not so much for the hiking.
Tess: Right. Right.
lexi: Yeah, but anyway, other than that, not too much.
Tess: Yeah. you guys are building a fence, maybe.
lexi: Well, okay, yes, so we actually we're getting landscaping around the front of the house. We have the mulch right now. That's that's as far as it's gone right now. And then on the side with the crusty porch, we're getting a new step thing, a new s new steps, new walk-up thingy, and a new porch in general. With like different materials so it lasts a long time. I don't really know. Yes, it's kinda like a vinyl. But then so right now they're working on the pad out there. They have that all that tore up and it's the stairs tore up, so I have to use the front door. It's just like this whole thing.
Tess: Well it like
lexi: Mm.
Tess: Not leak so that you can use the space underneath or like wash it.
lexi: Yeah. Yeah. They're gonna they're gonna put something under it so it doesn't leak. I forget what they called it, but
Tess: Cool. What color?
lexi: It's like a I do actually have the tile out there. I could show you what color it is, but it's like a Wa like a brownish but not like I don't know how to explain it.
Tess: Okay.
lexi: It goes with the grey house is what I'm saying. Like it has it's like brown, but like it has mixins of like a lighter greyish. I don't know. It l it's really pretty. It's called toasted
Tess: Nice.
lexi: toasted almond, toasted something. I don't know.
Tess: Cool.
lexi: Yeah. So we are also doing repairs on the house. Just not really like yours.
Tess: Yeah. Yeah. Too soon.
lexi: Too soon. I think I'm going up to the work site tonight.
Tess: I forgot you said that. Wait, today's Tuesday. You said I had said Wednesday.
lexi: Yeah, and then I changed my mind.
Tess: Hi.
lexi: At some point, but it's raining up there right now, so he said he's like, I'll let you know 'cause I guess they're in one place, but they'll be at another place tomorrow, so they're going back to the other place today and staying there. So he's
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: like, I'll text you when I think you should leave.
Tess: Yeah. Yeah. I'm tired. Crew's been coming over to my bed without fail every night. Janny told me this morning, 'cause I said, Crew. I said, Why did you come to my bed last night? I said, I really need you to try to stay in your bed He goes, I just can't sleep without you
lexi: See, and that I'm I'm cooked at that point because fine, get back in bed. We're not going to school today.
Tess: I'm like aw, I'm like, but I really need you to try.
lexi: Current that's sweet, but knock it off.
Tess: Yeah. 'Cause he'll come over the other night. I no listen, bad dream, I get it.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Sometimes he comes over, he crawls in, and I actually don't even really know. Other
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: times he comes over. Mom. I'm like, what? I had a bad dream. I'm like, okay, crew, just get in. Go to sleep. Be quiet. Not really. Or come over.
lexi: Tighten up.
Tess: Yeah. Come over, he'll tap me. Like, yes, crew. I'm thirsty. Like, okay. Here's a drink. Thankfully I had it by the table. Or the best one is, is whenever he comes in, and like our door is shut, so whenever he comes in, he shuts the door. And he like shuts the door. I mean he doesn't slam it because these doors don't really slam. But like he like latches the door. Then I just hear his feet. Here's a little ASMR for you guys. Whenever I do the thing, it'll cut that out anyways, but he like patterns over to the bathroom and flips on the light. just floods my bedroom with light. I'm like kidding shuts that door too. Which like I can appreciate because the lights on. But like he like shuts and latches that door. And we have like this not slap switches, but you know I mean like they're not like the light switch. They're like the you know they make the noise.
lexi: Uh-huh. Yeah. Maybe I won't stay in your room on vacation.
Tess: yeah, you are.
lexi: Okay. so I got a little taste of that when he stayed at my house the one time. I was worried, so he and Ruthie wanted to stay out here in the living room. Made a bed on the living room floor. They were both out pr fairly early. So like I was I was I didn't get a good night's sleep because I like wanted to be semi aware of what was happening. Well then it like it was like 5 30 in the morning. So like they pretty much made it all night. They're probably asleep before ten thirty ish. Like it wasn't late. I hear pattering. I get woken up to pattering on the f on the It literally is.
Tess: It's the pattern. It's always the pattering.
lexi: Yes. on the back of the hallway and I like him kinda like and he's like Lexi Lexi mind you I'm awake so I don't know if I just didn't say what or what but I think I looked at him even and he was like Can I get in a bedroom He said yes. I said, come on. So he ended up falling back asleep pretty fairly quickly. Like I was I was like hugging him and you know, rubbing his back, whatever. About mmm twenty minutes later In comes the other one.
Tess: Ha ha ha.
lexi: Not her. She doesn't say, Lexi, can I get in bed with you? She just crawls up, pulls my hair, I'm like, ow. She flops down. I'm like, okay.
Tess: I ha
lexi: But she never went back to sleep. Yeah. He was sleeping and she never went back to sleep. It was really nice.
Tess: Yeah. Yeah. And Lamar wonders why I have to go to bed at eight thirty.
lexi: Girl, I don't even have a reason to go to bed at eight thirty and I still try to.
Tess: Listen, the other day I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at like 8 37. Here's my logic. Okay, if I wanna get up at five, I have determined in my years of just like noticing, you know, things about myself, I function best on like nine to ten hours of sleep.
lexi: yeah.
Tess: But I like to get up in the morning. I'm a I'm a morning person. I love the quiet of the morning. The day is starting. It's like it's so peaceful. Like, you know, if I'm gonna have quiet time by myself, If and do you know that was? I know that you probably won't because whenever I do like the audio, it does actually cut that out. but for those of you who won't actually hear it because it won't be in the audio, my MacBook just dinged. And do you know what it was? Lamar text yes, Lamar texting me telling me to hurry up because he's hungry.
lexi: Are you guys going to lunch or something?
Tess: No! He just wants to be in the kitchen. no. We have I always tease him. So I was like having my little breakfast this morning and he comes out and he's What are you he's what are you having? I was like, a broken I mean a hard boiled egg sandwich. A little banana with peanut butter. And he was like, Well, is there one out there for me? And I was like, No babe. Cafeteria. During work hours, we are not husband and wife. That is the cafeteria? That is not the kitchen. Label your stuff in the fridge. I don't care. I'm not cooking for you. I'm not making food for you. I'm at work.
lexi: the break room. That is the office lounge.
Tess: That's that's exactly that's exactly I said I said break room, not a kitchen.
lexi: Imagine no, please tomorrow find a lunchbox and put it in the fridge.
Tess: With my name on it. Do not touch.
lexi: You know he's not gonna be able to help himself. He's gonna be all up in that.
Tess: Do you know he said whenever I said break room, not a kitchen? He goes, What is the point of this workplace affair if there's not food involved?
lexi: he's so funny. Wait, pause.
Tess: So anyways, what was I saying before the
lexi: You have to tell the people what Crew said yesterday?
Tess: yes, I will. But let me finish what was I saying before the ding?
lexi: Pitter pattering of the feet, I told my story.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: I don't know.
Tess: Yep. And then you say mornings. my quiet
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: time. because my ten hours of sleep. It's all coming back. Okay. Okay. Yes. So I prefer mornings. Like the thought of staying up till like eleven or something because the kids are in bed and ha No. Like what do you mean? Because by the that time of day, I'm like done. Tired. Out. So yes, if I wanna get up at five I need to be in bed by like eight thirty. Because even if I fall asleep by nine, that's only eight hours and I'm still shorting myself.
lexi: Michael just asked me the other night, we were lying in bed, he's like, So what time will our kids' bedtime be? I was like 7 30, 8 o'clock. And he
Tess: Yes, yes.
lexi: like he like laughs. And I'm like, what's funny?
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: I was like, no, because Michael, I said, I like to be in bed at least at the latest by like 9 30. I'm not
Tess: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
lexi: saying it happens every night, but like I like to be in bed by 9 30. So if we put them to bed at 7 30 or 8, that gives us like two hours, hour and a half. To like just be us and like that's very important. And also they need a schedule and they need structure. So like I'm not going
Tess: And they need sleep.
lexi: yes, I'm not going to wake them up for school in the morning and then be like, 'cause I hate being tired. I personally hate when I don't get enough sleep. I hate that feeling. I can't focus. So like, why would I put that on my children?
Tess: I know and my kids are tired and I still like they're in bed by like maybe I should start but they eight thirty's already too early for them. But like yeah. So whatever. But yeah, so I need my sleep. If I'm getting to bed at nine thirty on a weeknight, something is seriously wrong.
lexi: Yeah, I I used to be more of a like a night like person. Like I would prefer sleeping in and staying up, but now I I I like to be in bed. I and on Mondays especially, like I like to be asleep by a certain time because of him getting up and like I just I know I'm not gonna be able to fall back asleep. I don't know when the last time I went back to sleep after he left was. So I just know that that's just my life now.
Tess: Yeah. Well, I agree. Monday n Sunday nights I'm like we are headed to bed at eight o'clock. Not Lamar. Lamar can do whatever he wants, but like
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: the children and I, we gotta be in bed. Mondays come Monday mornings come hard and they come fast.
lexi: Uh-huh.
Tess: And they're hard for me. They're hard for them. We're going to bed. So cruise story.
lexi: Yes. He's so funny.
Tess: So I don't think I told you, but he was at a table for the first day of school and then like the second day of school he told me he was like his his seat got moved. And I was like, Excuse me.
lexi: My sweet angel baby.
Tess: I was like, excuse me? And I was like, like everybody? And he was like, No, just like some people's and I was like, Okay. I was like, So where are you? And he was like, I'm up front by Mrs. Turner and I was like, What is happening?
lexi: Right, okay, give me a minute. I'm gonna look up flights real quick. 'Cause I think
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: that she and I should probably talk.
Tess: Here's what I think is happening. The little
lexi: Okay.
Tess: boy that he now sits beside needs a good example. Do you know what I mean? Like, I think it was maybe two kids that like shouldn't have been sitting beside each other because they need like guidance. And crew was now the guidance. So I was like, okay.
lexi: Help us all.
Tess: Well, I know. No, I know. Imagine me. But he's like a completely different person at school from what I hear. So But that's good. That's good. If he's gonna be ordinary and like whatever, it's in the sanctity of his home. If he can be a functional and good member of society out there, perfect. Then I've done my job.
lexi: Hm yeah.
Tess: But anyways, so yes, he sits beside this little boy and who does get in trouble often. He's a talker.
lexi: Wow.
Tess: He talks to me. I'm like, okay, well don't talk back. I'm like, you're probably supposed to be like a good Yesterday. He came in yesterday. I was like, Wow, you did like a really good job like coloring your picture today. He goes, Thanks. He goes, Anthony told me I did too. I was like that was nice, but I'm pretty sure like Anthony wasn't supposed to be talking at the time because Cruz like, I tried to whisper thank you. He's like, but I know. And he was like, But I don't think he heard me. I was like, Well that's okay. Like if you're not supposed to be talking, like it's nice that Anthony said that, but like
lexi: Yeah. Aww. Wait to squeeze him. Get my hands on him.
Tess: Yeah, I know. So anyways, all of that aside, they get happy notes. Like if they have a good day, they get a happy note. So he came home yesterday and he was like, I got another happy note. I was like, Guru I was like, You're killing it He goes, Yeah, he's like, I'm on fire I'm like, You are on fire He goes, Yeah he goes, I'm like a burnt marshmallow. Yes. The literal definition of on fire, correct?
lexi: Listen, you guys don't know Crew. Okay. You don't you don't you don't you just don't know him unless you know him.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: He is so funny. Like just the stuff he comes up with and just like whoop spits off. I'm not kidding you. I I can't handle him. Like he he makes me laugh 247. And he's a little bit ornery, so that makes it even funnier when you're not the parent.
Tess: Right. But so I was telling and like Lamar thought it was funny too. But like I think he thought that he was like continuing on like wow I'm so great, I'm on fire, I'm like a burning marshmallow, but like I don't think Crew was continuing on like how on fire
lexi: No.
Tess: he was. He was literally like okay, well if I'm on fire,
lexi: Comparing it. Yeah.
Tess: I'm a burnt marshmallow.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: Which was hysterical.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Like that his vine would go there. And it's so funny because I'll be honest, like, you would not believe the fact that Michael likes his marshmallows burnt has left a wild impression on my kids because like it'll be like the most random things, random times, random days. So I'll be like, Can you believe Michael likes his marshmallows burnt? I'm like, No, like not me. My my toast is like barely
lexi: The best story to me.
Tess: My toast is barely toasted. If my marshmallow is too golden, it's out. Like
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: No, I cannot
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: fathom eating a burnt marshmallow, so I'm with you guys. But yes, he was like a burnt marshmallow.
lexi: He's like and when I say like I can't wait to get my hands on him, just know he will not be he will not receive that well. Like he does
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: not want to hug me.
Tess: It would be in your benefit if you weren't arriving to the beach with Sawyer and Ruthie. Like if it was
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: you like you would be the prize pig if it was just you.
lexi: Right. Well in November, guess who's the prize pig? Meh. Meh.
Tess: Right. Right. Yes.
lexi: And that's how it is. Like if it's just like me, his mom and him, like I'm the best thing since sliced bread. But you add the cousins into it, I'm out.
Tess: Actually, I'll give you everybody. I mean, I think it's the cousins and then you. So, like, if you just say not around them, you're golden.
lexi: Yeah. He he does f he does your kids do like me pretty good. Sawyer likes me a lot. I think Ruthie and I just We just butt heads often. Yeah.
Tess: Well, like you shoot her straight and she doesn't really like that.
lexi: Yeah. Well, see, and that's she and Michael get along real well. Michael's her fav favorite person in the world. And she's his, pretty much. Because you wanna know why? She's so cute. Aww. I'm like, yeah, you see that little thing?
Tess: I mean she is cute.
lexi: yeah, obviously. You see that little thing in her eye? That little that little you can tell. You can tell.
Tess: Yeah. But Ruthie loves me. So yeah, I also think that she's great.
lexi: Yeah, okay, she loves me. I'm not saying that, but we just we butt heads a lot.
Tess: Right, because you do shoot it straight. Like if she wants to go toe to toe, you're gonna stand toe to toe with her.
lexi: Right, and I'd do it with Addie Grace too. But Addie Grace is a little bit older now, so it's pretty it's it's very often that like I'll say Addie Grace and she'll be like, Yeah, you're right. So if you ever need me Yeah.
Tess: That must be nice.
lexi: You're her mom. I'm her cool aunt.
Tess: Yeah. And so I get to be that for Ruthie.
lexi: Yes. And you'll get to be that for my kid.
Tess: Yeah, you mean my kids.
lexi: Right.
Tess: Yeah. Just so we're clear.
lexi: That's crazy.
Tess: man Yeah.
lexi: They're gonna be probably.
Tess: Yeah. 'Cause f freaking Tori won't have any more kids. So we're just like all ready for a baby.
lexi: Yeah. Addie Addie Grace was the only one for a long time and
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: a first for a lot of thing like all of them. So like
Tess: Right.
lexi: she holds a special place in my heart
Tess: yeah, I think she does for everybody, but
lexi: Yeah. But man, she can be a she can be a trip. But we love her. She's the best thing ever.
Tess: We do. Yeah. Poor thing, she's trying to earn that money.
lexi: She's she's precious. She doesn't even know. She doesn't even know.
Tess: No. But she is trying and she's starting to Okay, so here's what happened. She got some.
lexi: Uh-huh.
Tess: She ha like and 'cause like obviously like she has more than enough to buy the scooter technically in her savings account. But like
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: I don't want her to just She's not getting 'cause like so much of that money was like money she did not have to work for. Like for a long time it was just money that she just like earned from it was in her piggy bank. So Birthdays, random things. Like she didn't she didn't work for that money. And but however, it was just in her piggy bank and so it like built up. And so I didn't want her to be able to just be like, Well just pull it out of my account. Like no, like
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: that not so anyways anyways. So she's been just like so we're she was starting from like pretty much zero, you
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: know, to get the scooter.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: For those of you who don't know, Addie Grace really wants an e scooter. And I really want her to learn the value of a dollar, so we compromise and she has to earn some money for her scooter. she's like working and so all of a sudden now she's up to like eighty some dollars. And I had originally mentioned like half Well like half of what the scooter is is like one fifteen, something like that. And I'm like Okay, so plot twist, Lexi and Michael have already purchased the scooter. And they're gonna give it to her at the beach, but I still wanted her her birthday always falls while we're at the beach. I still wanted her to have to earn the money for it. So she's getting the scooter regardless, but she is gonna earn some money. And she is so d i I will say she's determined.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Like she's like every day, she's like, Mom, what can I do? So anyway, so she had like a little bit of money, and then all of a sudden she sold her sold her stuff on Facebook and Then she which was like not a lot, but it was like forty-five dollars. So that like bounced her up. then Lamar was like, Well, something about like doing things around the house. And I'm like, Yes and no. I already don't let her do enough. I'm trying to do better. We're kind of starting to implement like she cooks supper one night a week, pretty much by herself. I I already need to do better with like letting her like clean and stuff like that. 'cause it's my responsibility to make sure she knows how to do those things and whatever I do it myself. But regardless, I'm like, yes, but Lamar, like, I don't want her to get paid because she cleans her room. 'Cause that's just like stuff she should be doing.
lexi: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Tess: Putting her laundry away, like that's not that's just being a member of this household, like but I knew Lamar had been wanting to get the camper cleaned, from travelling. and he was gonna do that on Saturday. So I said, like, if you go help your dad do that, like it was hot and she hates the heat. Yeah. So it wasn't gonna be enjoyable for her at all. And I was like, if you help your dad clean the camper, I was like, then we could maybe like pay you something because that would be something like out of the ordinary, like not technically your responsibility. I mean like I always think that like as a member of the household, like helping each other out is part of your responsibility, but like you get my point. so yeah, anyways, now she's like up to eighty five dollars and she's like, Well I only need like thirty more and I'm like we're still two weeks away from your birthday, and I'm just like How do I like, okay, congratulations, you got half. So I was like, well I said I never actually said like half. I was like, you just work on earning money and we'll go from there.
lexi: Well, I said to Michael, I was like like this was after we had messaged you guys and stuff like that. I was like, Yeah, something about paying us back half, like for the and he went And I was like, no, I feel the same way. So what I think we're gonna do is she can give us the half and then I'll just give it to you to put back in to wherever she has it. She's not paying us.
Tess: Into her investments.
lexi: Yes, into her investment fund. But I was like
Tess: Mutual funds.
lexi: But it was funny because he was like
Tess: Right. And like that's totally fine. Like whatever happens behind what she doesn't know, whatever. 'Cause I've heard of like parents doing that, like if their kids have to move back home for whatever reason and they like charge them rent and then like end up like actually just like saving the money for them for like down payment. Okay, like cool, whatever. Like I you know. But if you guys decide that you don't actually care about having the money back and you just want to give it back, I don't care. Sh to her
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: knowledge, she'll have worked for half of her scooter and that money is gone.
lexi: Mm.
Tess: But yeah, anyways, so yeah, that's what's been new. That's where we've been. That's What we've been doing Yes, Lamar, I'm wrapping it up. My coworker.
lexi: Lamar.
Tess: My coworker. Like I'm in the break room. I'm in the main area.
lexi: You're on break.
Tess: Yes.
lexi: You're in the common area.
Tess: I'm in the common area. Freaking coworkers.
lexi: the words.
Tess: You're the worst. Could never
lexi: have any
Tess: That's lonely. Do you remember whenever we and I were co workers?
lexi: Yeah, that was fun.
Tess: Was fun. Except for my freaking ankle. Like everything about this summer will be tainted.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Everything. If it was raining,
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: I couldn't come into the house. I slip in the grass on the step like
lexi: Michael said He said, you know what? I said what? He's like, I have noticed less flies in here since GIMP's been gone. So I
Tess: Okay.
lexi: I now think that your name for him will just be GIMP.
Tess: Parf.
lexi: That's okay. Tori has one too, and so does mom. Mom to him is sidetracked, and then Tori is brain cell.
Tess: Tory.
lexi: And you're gimp.
Tess: You know what, I'll take that because mine is a physical ailment that I had no control over. Theirs is their mental. That's their I'll take it.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: At least he's not calling me like OCD or Manic or
lexi: Self deprecating.
Tess: Stop deprecating.
lexi: I got a time to call you self-depreater.
Tess: So, you know, whatever, I'll take gif.
lexi: Insecure.
Tess: Yeah, yes.
lexi: He just starts calling you NC.
Tess: Please don't tell him that.
lexi: man, said
Tess: Alright, we gotta go. Yeah. My coworker is like kicking
lexi: We gotta wrap this up. Lamar's her coworker's starting to hit on her.
Tess: me out.
lexi: He's the worst.
Tess: But yes, we're gonna go. And we haven't discussed but I assume we'll be back to trying to do weekly off
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: the summer schedule. Alright. Alright, goodbye.
