00:00:00.960 --> 00:00:05.799
Welcome to Pretty Lies and Alibis.
Let's seek the truth and travel the long
2
00:00:05.919 --> 00:00:14.359
road to justice together. What you
know, alibyers, Welcome to another episode
3
00:00:14.359 --> 00:00:20.039
of Pretty Lies and Alibis. I'm
gig. It's Wednesday and Monday and Tuesday
4
00:00:20.079 --> 00:00:24.879
we played part one and two of
the big Reunion episode with my bestest friend
5
00:00:24.879 --> 00:00:29.280
in the whole world, Fruit Loop, who co founded this podcast, as
6
00:00:29.320 --> 00:00:32.679
you know, moved on in July
of last year to follow her passion,
7
00:00:32.759 --> 00:00:39.280
which is providing a safe place for
domestic violence victims with Brianne, her co
8
00:00:39.439 --> 00:00:43.399
founder, and on behalf of them. I just want to say a huge,
9
00:00:43.759 --> 00:00:48.200
huge thank you to everybody who was
able to and chose to donate.
10
00:00:48.560 --> 00:00:52.679
I know everybody doesn't have the means, so just positive vibes sent their way
11
00:00:52.840 --> 00:00:57.520
is amazing. But to those of
you who bought things off that Amazon wish
12
00:00:57.560 --> 00:01:03.079
list or sent donations, they have
been blown away. I've gotten a couple
13
00:01:03.119 --> 00:01:07.879
of texts from them today. They
just had no clue that it would be
14
00:01:07.959 --> 00:01:11.560
so successful. And thank you guys
from the bottom of my heart. You
15
00:01:11.599 --> 00:01:18.120
guys know better than anybody how domestic
violent situations can end up, which is
16
00:01:18.200 --> 00:01:23.239
in a really terrible headline, and
so what they're doing is providing a place
17
00:01:23.439 --> 00:01:26.560
to prevent that. And not only
that, they're providing a place where they
18
00:01:26.640 --> 00:01:33.719
are giving counseling by a licensed counselor, they are assisting them with finding jobs
19
00:01:33.760 --> 00:01:38.599
and breaking that cycle that tends to
be kind of like an heirloom handed down
20
00:01:38.840 --> 00:01:42.879
from generation to generation, those cycles
of abuse. So thank you so much
21
00:01:42.959 --> 00:01:47.959
on behalf of Fruit Loop am Brianne. You guys rock. You are amazing.
22
00:01:48.439 --> 00:01:52.680
I think we have the best group
of listeners out there. Music fact
23
00:01:52.680 --> 00:01:57.439
of the day Phil Collins, who
I love. He had more top forty
24
00:01:57.560 --> 00:02:01.040
hits on the Billboard Hot one hundred
during the eighties than any other artist,
25
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:06.319
and I would believe that I have
to say, against all odds, maybe
26
00:02:06.400 --> 00:02:10.919
my favorite by him because that song
is sung with so much passion, like
27
00:02:12.039 --> 00:02:15.039
you can feel that song. Such
a great artist. I hate that he's
28
00:02:15.080 --> 00:02:20.960
not able to tour anymore due to
back issues, but I still love jamming
29
00:02:20.960 --> 00:02:25.120
out to some Phil Collins every now
and then. Real quick update on Caitlin
30
00:02:25.319 --> 00:02:31.360
Armstrong. As we know, she
was arrested for murdering fellow cyclist Moe Wilson.
31
00:02:31.840 --> 00:02:36.159
This is the girl who ran off
to Costa Rica got like the face
32
00:02:36.240 --> 00:02:39.719
job, came back, and now
she's in jail awaiting trial. It was
33
00:02:39.800 --> 00:02:45.159
set to originally start on June twenty
sixth, but now that's been moved to
34
00:02:45.199 --> 00:02:47.400
October thirtieth, so I wanted to
give you a heads up on that.
35
00:02:47.479 --> 00:02:51.800
It's a busy summer. There's a
lot of big trials coming up, and
36
00:02:52.240 --> 00:02:57.080
a lot of what I'm in to
cover depends on when Laurie Valo is going
37
00:02:57.120 --> 00:03:00.520
to be SINISD. I've heard maybe
August. Nothing in Stone yet, and
38
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:05.400
then she'll have those conspiracy charges in
Arizona that I hope to go out for.
39
00:03:06.240 --> 00:03:09.919
But in the meantime, let's talk
about some other cases that we have
40
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:14.560
been covering but haven't caught up on. Pretty much. For the whole six
41
00:03:14.599 --> 00:03:19.800
weeks that I was out in Boise
covering Laurie Valo, I really honestly had
42
00:03:19.879 --> 00:03:23.560
no time to catch up on any
of the other cases that we've been following.
43
00:03:23.919 --> 00:03:25.759
So I'm kind of getting back into
the groove now. It took about
44
00:03:25.759 --> 00:03:29.960
a week for me to sort of
decompress from that trial, and I have
45
00:03:30.080 --> 00:03:35.479
to admit the crime scene photos and
the photos of the children's bodies and Tammy
46
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:40.080
bothered me way more than I ever
thought they would. And I'm not shocked
47
00:03:40.560 --> 00:03:44.840
at crime scene photos for the most
part. I worked in a morgue for
48
00:03:44.879 --> 00:03:47.719
a while. I've seen some really
really terrible stuff, but you know,
49
00:03:47.879 --> 00:03:53.199
anytime it involves children, there's a
heaviness to it, and these are really
50
00:03:53.319 --> 00:03:59.599
disturbed me. I'm doing fine.
I'm definitely processing it at all. But
51
00:04:00.080 --> 00:04:03.199
it did when I got home and
things got quiet, really was when it
52
00:04:03.280 --> 00:04:08.719
sort of hit me what I had
seen happen to those three victims, and
53
00:04:09.000 --> 00:04:15.719
especially the kids with how graphic it
was. And yeah, so I just
54
00:04:15.840 --> 00:04:18.519
do appreciate your patients and letting me
come home and just sort of decompress.
55
00:04:18.639 --> 00:04:23.079
I really needed it most of all. I just needed some time with my
56
00:04:23.199 --> 00:04:27.120
kids and my family, and it's
been amazing. But we're back to the
57
00:04:27.120 --> 00:04:30.800
grind because that's what we do and
that's how I'm happiest. So we're going
58
00:04:30.839 --> 00:04:34.040
to update to all good old Elik
Murdock. I mean, literally, all
59
00:04:34.079 --> 00:04:41.000
indictments are flying around like mosquitoes in
the South in July. They're everywhere,
60
00:04:41.160 --> 00:04:46.279
and it's been announced today he was
hit with twenty two federal indictments, including
61
00:04:46.720 --> 00:04:53.279
conspiracy, wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering charges. So the
62
00:04:53.360 --> 00:04:59.040
press release from the FED say in
one scheme, The indictment alleges that from
63
00:04:59.079 --> 00:05:04.279
at least September of two thousand and
five until at least September of twenty twenty
64
00:05:04.279 --> 00:05:10.519
one, Elik devised a scheme to
defraud to obtain money by means of false
65
00:05:10.639 --> 00:05:15.800
pretenses. The indictment also alleges that, as part of this scheme, he
66
00:05:15.920 --> 00:05:23.000
routed and redirected client settlement funds to
personally enrich himself, including by drafting or
67
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:29.879
directing law firm employees to drafts disbursement
sheets to send settlement funds to guess what
68
00:05:30.360 --> 00:05:36.720
his accounts without proper disclosure or client
or law firm approval, Also claiming funds
69
00:05:36.759 --> 00:05:43.279
held in the law firm's trust account
as attorneys fees and directing the disbursement of
70
00:05:43.319 --> 00:05:49.439
those for guess whose benefit Elik Murdoch, claiming and collecting attorney's fees on fake
71
00:05:49.800 --> 00:05:57.639
or non existent annuities, creating fraudulent
expenses that were never incurred on client matters,
72
00:05:57.680 --> 00:06:02.439
and directing the disbursement of attlement funds
to pay the sided costs, including
73
00:06:02.519 --> 00:06:10.879
claimed medical expenses, construction expenses and
airline expenses, directing other attorneys with whom
74
00:06:10.879 --> 00:06:15.639
he was associated on client matters to
disperse attorney fees directly to him, rather
75
00:06:15.680 --> 00:06:23.720
than appropriately routing the feast to the
law firm and intercepting insurance proceeds intended for
76
00:06:23.800 --> 00:06:31.079
the beneficiaries and depositing them where into
his personal account was a moron. In
77
00:06:31.120 --> 00:06:36.439
a second scheme, the indictment alleges
that from in or around July of twenty
78
00:06:36.680 --> 00:06:43.199
eleven until at least October of twenty
twenty one, Ellick conspired with his banker,
79
00:06:43.360 --> 00:06:47.759
Russell Lafitte to commit wire fraud and
bank fraud. The indictment alleges that
80
00:06:47.879 --> 00:06:54.600
Murdra and his law firm asked Lafitte
to serve as a personal representative or conservator
81
00:06:55.120 --> 00:07:00.759
on numerous personal injury clients. Lafitte
collected over three hundred and fifty thousand dollars
82
00:07:00.759 --> 00:07:09.360
in fees as personal representative or conservative
for Murdoch's personal injury clients. As part
83
00:07:09.360 --> 00:07:14.079
of the scheme, the indictment alleges
Murdoch directed law firm employees to make settlements
84
00:07:14.439 --> 00:07:19.000
cash payable to quote palmetto state bank
end quote. The checks were then delivered
85
00:07:19.040 --> 00:07:25.839
to Lafitte, whom Murdoch directed to
use the settlement funds for guess whose benefit,
86
00:07:26.560 --> 00:07:30.959
Ellik Murdoch. The funds were used
to pay off his personal loans and
87
00:07:30.040 --> 00:07:36.680
for personal expenses and cash withdrawals.
Note that private jet. They took a
88
00:07:36.720 --> 00:07:43.000
few places, just saying. In
November of twenty twenty two, Russell Lafitte
89
00:07:43.079 --> 00:07:46.720
was convicted on six federal charges,
including conspiracy, new commit wire fraud,
90
00:07:47.079 --> 00:07:53.600
and bank fraud. He is awaiting
sentencing and in a third scheme, yeah,
91
00:07:53.600 --> 00:07:59.079
because you know there's gonna be three
with Murdoch. It alleges that insects
92
00:07:59.079 --> 00:08:03.560
September of twenty fifteen, he created
a bank account in the name of Forge,
93
00:08:03.680 --> 00:08:09.079
presenting as a legal corporation for structuring
insurance settlements. Of course we know
94
00:08:09.160 --> 00:08:15.839
Elik Murdoch was the owner of and
the only authorized signer on his fake Fourge
95
00:08:15.879 --> 00:08:20.680
account. The indictment alleges that from
in or around May twenty seventeen through at
96
00:08:20.800 --> 00:08:26.920
least July of twenty twenty one,
he funnels stolen personal injury settlements through that
97
00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:33.320
fake Furge account. He's charged with
fourteen counts of money laundering for using the
98
00:08:33.399 --> 00:08:39.000
transactions in the fake Forge account to
conceal the proceeds of his fraud. The
99
00:08:39.080 --> 00:08:46.080
indictment further alleges from in or around
February twenty eighteen until at least October twenty
100
00:08:46.159 --> 00:08:50.720
twenty, he conspired with a personal
injury attorney in Bufort to defraud the estate
101
00:08:50.759 --> 00:08:56.639
of Murda's former housekeeper and Murda's homeowners
insurance carriators. This is the Glorious Adderfield
102
00:08:56.720 --> 00:09:01.080
case. In February of two thousand
and eight teen, Murda's housekeeper. They
103
00:09:01.080 --> 00:09:05.000
didn't name her, but will go
ahead and say her name, Gloria Sadderfield.
104
00:09:05.080 --> 00:09:09.200
She passed away after a fall at
the Murda's home. Now here's the
105
00:09:09.279 --> 00:09:13.440
interesting thing. Murdo just recently admitted
that he lied that the dogs knocked her
106
00:09:13.519 --> 00:09:18.120
over. So my question is this, how do you get all those injuries
107
00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:22.039
from falling down a few stairs.
Murda recommended the housekeeper's estate hire the Bufor
108
00:09:22.120 --> 00:09:28.919
attorney to represent them and file a
claim against Murda to collect from his homeowner's
109
00:09:28.919 --> 00:09:33.639
insurance policies. So the insurance companies
settled the estate's claim for five hundred and
110
00:09:33.720 --> 00:09:41.240
five thousand and three point eight million
dollars The indictment alleges that Murda and the
111
00:09:41.399 --> 00:09:50.720
personal injury attorney conspired to siphon settlement
funds disguised as prosecution expenses for their own
112
00:09:50.799 --> 00:09:56.200
personal enrichment. The indictment further alleges
that Murdo directed the bufor attorney to draft
113
00:09:56.279 --> 00:10:03.000
checks totaling nearly three point five million
dollars payable to that fake Forge account.
114
00:10:03.080 --> 00:10:07.279
Cheez Louise, how does this dude
rest his head at night? I mean,
115
00:10:07.279 --> 00:10:13.159
you have defrauded so many vulnerable people. He deposited all that, by
116
00:10:13.159 --> 00:10:16.440
the way, into that fake Forge
account and use the funds for his own
117
00:10:16.480 --> 00:10:22.679
personal enrichment. The estate did not
receive any of the settlement funds. However,
118
00:10:22.879 --> 00:10:28.279
we do know that Glorious Adderfield's children
have settled and that the settlement was
119
00:10:28.519 --> 00:10:33.679
more than what was actually stolen for
them. Good for them, and they
120
00:10:33.720 --> 00:10:37.159
should be taken care of. So
One count of conspiracy to come at wire
121
00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:41.080
and bank fraud, what is that? Punishable by up to thirty years in
122
00:10:41.159 --> 00:10:46.960
prison and a fine up to a
million dollars. One count of bank fraud
123
00:10:46.000 --> 00:10:52.919
punishable same thirty years, million dollars
fine. Two council wire fraud punishable by
124
00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:58.120
up to thirty years in prison for
each count and a fine up to a
125
00:10:58.240 --> 00:11:03.320
million dollars. Better be winning a
lot of sports bets and forego the five
126
00:11:03.399 --> 00:11:07.559
cans of soup and the bee sticks
because he gonna need lots of money to
127
00:11:07.600 --> 00:11:11.759
settle this stuff. Three counts a
wire fraud, punishable by up to twenty
128
00:11:11.840 --> 00:11:15.559
years in prison and a fine of
two hundred and fifty thousand, one kind
129
00:11:15.600 --> 00:11:18.759
of conspiracy to commit wire fraud,
which is punishable by up to twenty years
130
00:11:18.759 --> 00:11:24.559
in prison and a fine of a
million dollars, And last, but not
131
00:11:24.720 --> 00:11:30.559
least, fourteen counts of money laundering, punishable by up to twenty years in
132
00:11:30.600 --> 00:11:35.720
prison and a fine of up to
five hundred thousand dollars. So what do
133
00:11:35.759 --> 00:11:37.759
I think. I think he'll just
plead guilty to all these and he can
134
00:11:37.799 --> 00:11:41.279
go to a nice, cushy little
federal prison where they play pickleball at like
135
00:11:41.399 --> 00:11:46.120
three. You know, with all
of his other stealing buddies that he's going
136
00:11:46.159 --> 00:11:50.679
to make in there. Who knows
what's up. We know that the people
137
00:11:50.840 --> 00:11:56.600
over the money denied him the chance
to dip into some money to pay his
138
00:11:56.679 --> 00:12:01.159
attorneys, So it'll be curious to
see if him Griffin and Dick Harpootlian state
139
00:12:01.240 --> 00:12:05.519
on pro bono or are they gonna
say see you later, buddy, here's
140
00:12:05.519 --> 00:12:11.919
your public defenders. Lots going on. That man could die and be revived
141
00:12:11.080 --> 00:12:16.759
like fifty times and still have time
to serve. So if you like was
142
00:12:16.840 --> 00:12:22.720
Laurie Valo and believed in different probations, he gonna need like fifty probations to
143
00:12:22.759 --> 00:12:24.919
serve all this time. He's up
against I think at last count, before
144
00:12:24.960 --> 00:12:28.639
all this, he might have been
facing like seven hundred years in prison.
145
00:12:30.159 --> 00:12:35.159
Every one of these victims deserves their
account to be put against him and ruled
146
00:12:35.240 --> 00:12:39.919
upon. He's toast, y'all toast
all right, So we're gonna jump over
147
00:12:39.919 --> 00:12:43.600
to Coburger. And this is a
little bit of a hard one to sort
148
00:12:43.639 --> 00:12:48.039
of weed through all the speculation room
rumor. Believe me, I've been eyeball
149
00:12:48.080 --> 00:12:52.600
deep in speculation and a rumor.
But fact wise us all we're doing here
150
00:12:54.159 --> 00:12:58.720
so as we know, a secret
grand jury and Daddy Cooburger on four counts
151
00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:03.399
of murder in the first and one
count of burglary. And that also means
152
00:13:03.519 --> 00:13:07.080
that preliminary hearing for June. It's
no longer needed. It's been vacated.
153
00:13:07.159 --> 00:13:15.240
We will not hear any details until
this goes to trial. Very very smart
154
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:18.240
move by the state to go through
the grand jury because it keeps things out
155
00:13:18.279 --> 00:13:24.600
of the public. Ultimately, what
we want is a conviction when the evidence
156
00:13:24.639 --> 00:13:28.440
proves he committed these murders, and
so what letting stuff like this out into
157
00:13:28.480 --> 00:13:33.039
the public is a really good way. I'm taking this off, y'all if
158
00:13:33.080 --> 00:13:35.159
you're watching on YouTube, I'd have
had band on because I was outside working
159
00:13:35.159 --> 00:13:39.519
on the car. But there that
feels better. I think my brain was
160
00:13:39.519 --> 00:13:43.600
getting squeezed or something. I had
it on too tight. We all want
161
00:13:43.600 --> 00:13:46.519
to know, right, we all
want to know what did they get him
162
00:13:46.559 --> 00:13:50.679
on. We know the DNA was
on that sheath that was found in one
163
00:13:50.679 --> 00:13:54.440
of the victim's rooms. But you
know, we can wait until trial to
164
00:13:54.480 --> 00:13:56.919
find out these details. It's there's
a gag order in the case. There's
165
00:13:56.919 --> 00:14:01.240
a lot going on, but all
we want is a successful conviction. I'm
166
00:14:01.279 --> 00:14:07.080
cool with things being put under seal
because the truth comes out eventually, just
167
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:09.279
like with Lorie Valo, we saw
a lot come out at that trial we
168
00:14:09.320 --> 00:14:16.120
had no clue of and I'm okay
with sealing documents if they feel that's what's
169
00:14:16.240 --> 00:14:20.440
needed to get a fair trial.
Think about it. This is in Idaho,
170
00:14:20.519 --> 00:14:24.039
in Moscow, it's tiny. I
have a feeling this may end up
171
00:14:24.039 --> 00:14:26.279
back in Boise. I would love
to go out to Boise to cover this.
172
00:14:26.320 --> 00:14:31.320
When it goes to trial in October, we shall see. But Koburger
173
00:14:31.440 --> 00:14:37.559
nodded as the judge read the charges. What did Cooburger do in court?
174
00:14:37.960 --> 00:14:41.559
He nodded as the judge read the
charges and said, yes, if he
175
00:14:41.639 --> 00:14:46.080
understood the charges. The judge read
Zanna, Ethan, Kaylee, and Maddie's
176
00:14:46.159 --> 00:14:50.039
names out loud with each count.
I hear that the judge guy Kaylee wrong
177
00:14:50.120 --> 00:14:54.000
and called her Kayla. Not a
good look as a huge case. The
178
00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:56.799
world's watching, and it could be
nerves. I'm not judging, but I'm
179
00:14:56.799 --> 00:15:01.080
just saying that had to be hard
for her family that her name was gotten
180
00:15:01.080 --> 00:15:05.159
wrong. He chose to stand silent. The judge entered a not guilty plea
181
00:15:05.279 --> 00:15:09.480
on his behalf. Now, legal
analysts that I've watched say, among several
182
00:15:09.600 --> 00:15:15.399
reasons to do this, one could
be that maybe it helps if he wants
183
00:15:15.440 --> 00:15:18.200
to take a plea deal down the
road. There are sixty days from now
184
00:15:18.279 --> 00:15:22.600
for the state to ask for death
fully expect that to happen. Trial date
185
00:15:22.720 --> 00:15:26.639
was set to October second. They
estimate this trial could tape four to six
186
00:15:26.720 --> 00:15:31.360
weeks now. News Nations Brian Inton
was in the courtroom and said the families
187
00:15:31.399 --> 00:15:37.039
came and took up a lot of
that courtroom. He said Kaylee's sister brought
188
00:15:37.080 --> 00:15:41.480
her new baby to court and the
baby made cooing noises throughout the proceedings and
189
00:15:41.559 --> 00:15:46.200
according to Brian Inton, that was
very powerful in a subtle way. You
190
00:15:46.240 --> 00:15:52.000
have this new life for this family
right there in that courtroom. Surely a
191
00:15:52.080 --> 00:15:58.000
little bit of joy after what has
been just an unimaginable several months since these
192
00:15:58.039 --> 00:16:02.360
brutal murders happened. After the arraignment, there was a hearing about the gag
193
00:16:02.480 --> 00:16:04.919
order in the case, and the
judge said that with the media going to
194
00:16:04.960 --> 00:16:08.879
the Supreme Court about the gag order, it has slowed down the process.
195
00:16:08.960 --> 00:16:14.240
He also said the media needs to
tone down their challenge about the gag order.
196
00:16:15.000 --> 00:16:19.159
Kaylee's family attorney addressed the judge and
wants the gag order issue dealt with
197
00:16:19.399 --> 00:16:23.919
this week. The judge did not
rule and said that that would be addressed
198
00:16:23.919 --> 00:16:29.440
at a hearing on June ninth.
The other issue that will be addressed at
199
00:16:29.440 --> 00:16:33.639
that hearing is regarding cameras in the
courtroom. There is an evidentiary hearing for
200
00:16:33.759 --> 00:16:37.919
June twenty seventh. The bodycam where
he was pulled over for blocking a crosswalk.
201
00:16:38.120 --> 00:16:44.399
I watched that finally. It's very
interesting now. The stop was fifteen
202
00:16:44.440 --> 00:16:48.120
minutes, and he was more argumentative
than compliant. Here's my thing. I
203
00:16:48.159 --> 00:16:52.320
bet he's like a Lori Valo with
his attorneys, except he has a little
204
00:16:52.320 --> 00:16:56.320
bit of a legal background with his
courses that he's taken in college, and
205
00:16:56.799 --> 00:17:03.080
the cop eventually had to go pull
up the law to show him you can't
206
00:17:03.120 --> 00:17:07.200
block a crosswalk, you know.
Can you imagine having to manage your client
207
00:17:07.279 --> 00:17:12.200
who thinks they know more than you
when you're trying to do everything you can
208
00:17:12.240 --> 00:17:15.880
to get them a fair trial.
I think it's probably one of those things
209
00:17:15.880 --> 00:17:19.240
where those lawyers may want to go
through themselves in traffic when they leave their
210
00:17:19.240 --> 00:17:23.279
clients, a source told Dateline,
which they just aired a special this past
211
00:17:23.319 --> 00:17:26.599
weekend. I have yet to watch
it, but I did read a few
212
00:17:27.359 --> 00:17:34.480
different synopsises of it. A source
told Dateline that Coburger's older sister was suspicious
213
00:17:34.599 --> 00:17:38.200
during the holidays, that he may
have killed Zanna, Ethan, Kaylee,
214
00:17:38.279 --> 00:17:45.960
and Maddie when Brian was home after
seeing him wearing latex gloves and knowing the
215
00:17:45.960 --> 00:17:52.359
white Nissan that he drove was the
car being sought after by authorities in Idaho.
216
00:17:52.160 --> 00:17:56.799
Kaylee's dad, Steve, was on
Bamfield and talked about the death penalty.
217
00:17:56.279 --> 00:18:00.799
He said, you can't just hunt
our babies. Come to our state
218
00:18:00.839 --> 00:18:03.519
and hunt our people. It's unacceptable. We're a small state, but you're
219
00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:07.559
going to see how strong we are
and how big we are when you mess
220
00:18:07.599 --> 00:18:12.160
with us here in Idaho. We
can control one thing, and you just
221
00:18:12.319 --> 00:18:18.839
can't hunt babies down. Bless his
heart, I cannot imagine his burden.
222
00:18:18.920 --> 00:18:22.000
He ended by saying, the line
has been crossed and we're gonna go there.
223
00:18:22.839 --> 00:18:27.599
It's interesting to read into his past, and I'm starting to do that
224
00:18:27.839 --> 00:18:33.599
just away from the Facebook group,
so I can figure out his past in
225
00:18:33.640 --> 00:18:38.839
a way where I feel comfortable giving
it. But he enrolled in twenty twenty
226
00:18:38.920 --> 00:18:44.000
at de Sales, where, according
to a fellow student, he showed major
227
00:18:44.079 --> 00:18:48.880
interest in mass murders and crime scenes. One professor remembered him as a brilliant
228
00:18:48.920 --> 00:18:55.079
student, and people who worked at
the Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Pennsylvania said
229
00:18:55.119 --> 00:19:00.519
Brian oftentimes would sit alone, stare
at people, and then eventually he would
230
00:19:00.559 --> 00:19:03.960
harass women. After he kind of
knocked back a few beers. He would
231
00:19:03.960 --> 00:19:08.640
ask them creepy questions about where they
lived or who they were with. A
232
00:19:08.720 --> 00:19:14.599
bartender refused to answer his questions and
Brian called her the B word. The
233
00:19:14.680 --> 00:19:19.400
owner of the brewing company confronted Brian, asking him to please be more respectful.
234
00:19:21.240 --> 00:19:26.359
Research projects that have been made public
also give a glimpse into Brian coburger.
235
00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:27.880
It says, hi, my name
is Brian. The study seeks to
236
00:19:27.960 --> 00:19:33.319
understand the story behind your most recent
criminal offense. Now, he was addressing
237
00:19:33.319 --> 00:19:37.799
people that have been arrested within an
emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your
238
00:19:37.839 --> 00:19:42.799
experience. This research has been approved
by the De Sales University. Thank you
239
00:19:42.839 --> 00:19:47.119
for your time. Some of the
questions upon arriving, what steps did you
240
00:19:47.160 --> 00:19:52.319
take prior to locating the victim or
target? How did you leave the scene,
241
00:19:52.519 --> 00:19:56.240
did you struggle or fight with the
victim? Did you prepare for the
242
00:19:56.279 --> 00:20:00.960
crime before leaving your home, how
did you travel to an into the location
243
00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:04.759
that the crime occurred before making your
move? How did you approach the victim
244
00:20:04.880 --> 00:20:10.519
or target? How did you accomplish
your goal. It's crazy to think that
245
00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:15.160
murdering another human or committing a crime
against somebody's considered a goal, and it
246
00:20:15.240 --> 00:20:19.319
says, please explain what you were
thinking and feeling now we know. Once
247
00:20:19.359 --> 00:20:25.759
he moved to Washington for that PhD
in criminology, he was deemed by students
248
00:20:25.799 --> 00:20:30.279
as a very harsh grater who would
often put handwritten notes with criticism, and
249
00:20:32.079 --> 00:20:36.640
his reputation there really was not a
good one. People labeled him as arrogant
250
00:20:36.640 --> 00:20:41.200
and alienating, and he was known
for being pretentious and always striving to show
251
00:20:41.240 --> 00:20:45.000
he was smarter than others, especially
women. The other thing is the nine
252
00:20:45.000 --> 00:20:48.599
one one call, which has never
been released. I'm very interested to hear
253
00:20:48.640 --> 00:20:52.599
it, but someone in the know
stated it was a frat brother who made
254
00:20:52.640 --> 00:20:57.799
that call. Kaylee's dad said that
one of the roommates who was in the
255
00:20:57.839 --> 00:21:02.640
house at the time of the murder. There's Dylan passed out after the nine
256
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:07.799
one one call, which could explain
the unconscious person that was mentioned on that
257
00:21:07.880 --> 00:21:11.519
nine one one call. A lot
of us were very confused about the difference
258
00:21:11.559 --> 00:21:18.599
between unconscious and a very graphic,
bloody crime scene. Americans spend an average
259
00:21:18.599 --> 00:21:22.160
of ninety percent of their time indoors. According to the EPA, indoor air
260
00:21:22.279 --> 00:21:26.759
could be two to five times more
polluted than outdoor air, and in some
261
00:21:26.839 --> 00:21:33.880
cases it could be one hundred times
more polluted. We take about twenty thousand
262
00:21:33.960 --> 00:21:38.640
breaths per day. That's almost three
gallons of possibly polluted air. Airborne allergens
263
00:21:38.680 --> 00:21:42.519
are the most common allergy triggers,
such as pollen, pet dander, dust
264
00:21:42.599 --> 00:21:47.759
might them mold. Look I love
my animals, but they make me sneeze.
265
00:21:48.079 --> 00:21:49.920
But since I've been using air Doctor, I don't have to take my
266
00:21:49.960 --> 00:21:55.799
allergy medicines and I see a huge
decrease in the amount of dust in my
267
00:21:55.839 --> 00:22:00.440
house. That's a win win.
What's the solution. Air doctors out dangerous
268
00:22:00.480 --> 00:22:07.039
contaminants and allergens so your lungs don't
have to Air Doctor uses an ultra Hepa
269
00:22:07.079 --> 00:22:11.400
filter that's been independently tested to remove
ninety nine point ninety nine percent of tested
270
00:22:11.440 --> 00:22:18.440
bacteria and viruses. The classic air
Doctor three thousand purifier is powerful enough to
271
00:22:18.440 --> 00:22:22.240
circulate the air in a six hundred
and thirty plus square foot room four times
272
00:22:22.279 --> 00:22:26.359
per hour, and the whisper jet
fans are thirty percent quieter than the fans
273
00:22:26.359 --> 00:22:33.119
and ordinary air purifiers. So air
Doctor comes with a no questions ask thirty
274
00:22:33.200 --> 00:22:36.319
day money back guarantee, So if
you don't love it, just send it
275
00:22:36.359 --> 00:22:41.039

So head to air doctor pro dot com
276
00:22:41.039 --> 00:22:44.680
and use promo code what the World, and depending on the model, you'll
277
00:22:44.680 --> 00:22:48.119
receive up to thirty nine percent off. So we're going to move on to
278
00:22:48.440 --> 00:22:53.440
Corey Richens. This one's got me
intrigued, jall. And it's not a
279
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:59.759
complicated case to see what happened,
but I'm always interested in the psychology of
280
00:22:59.799 --> 00:23:04.319
why things happened. Now she's thirty
three and she's been arrested and charged with
281
00:23:04.480 --> 00:23:07.839
killing her husband, Eric, who
was thirty nine. And get this,
282
00:23:07.960 --> 00:23:12.359
y'all, after she murdered him,
she proceeded to write a children's book about
283
00:23:12.480 --> 00:23:18.119
grief on the subject of children losing
their fathers. You can't make this stuff
284
00:23:18.240 --> 00:23:22.160
up. So the two of them
met while she was working at a home
285
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:26.000
depot in Utah. He shot their
office, so they were married, had
286
00:23:26.119 --> 00:23:29.640
kids, and they lived in a
really small mountain town near Park City,
287
00:23:29.799 --> 00:23:33.279
Utah. She's accused of murdering Eric, the father of their three kids,
288
00:23:33.400 --> 00:23:38.839
by putting five times the lethal Dosa
finnil into a drink. It took over
289
00:23:38.880 --> 00:23:44.440
a year of investigating before she was
arrested, so the number one one call
290
00:23:44.559 --> 00:23:49.039
was placed on March fourth, twenty
two, around three twenty am. Eric
291
00:23:49.119 --> 00:23:52.880
was found on the floor at the
foot of the bed and was dead when
292
00:23:52.920 --> 00:23:56.519
first responders arrived. They did try
some life saving measures, but unfortunately it
293
00:23:56.559 --> 00:24:02.079
was too late. She had told
office that they were celebrating a closing on
294
00:24:02.119 --> 00:24:04.680
a house she had just made for
her business. The night before, she
295
00:24:04.720 --> 00:24:10.119
said that they had a vodka drink
and put the kids to bed. And
296
00:24:10.519 --> 00:24:14.880
another version that she told is that
she fell asleep with one of their children
297
00:24:14.920 --> 00:24:18.480
because of a night terror they were
having, and then when she went into
298
00:24:18.559 --> 00:24:21.880
their bedroom around three am, he
was at the foot of the bed.
299
00:24:21.920 --> 00:24:25.319
Found me cold to the touch.
Now here's the thing. Corey said she
300
00:24:25.400 --> 00:24:29.039
left her phone in the bedroom that
night, but guess what, it was
301
00:24:29.079 --> 00:24:33.759
found that she had been opening her
phone several times in the time frame he
302
00:24:33.799 --> 00:24:37.200
would have been dead on the floor, which obviously she would have seen if
303
00:24:37.200 --> 00:24:40.559
she left her phone in the bedroom
and your husband is laying dead on your
304
00:24:40.559 --> 00:24:45.039
floor. There were text messages that
were sent and received during this timeframe,
305
00:24:45.079 --> 00:24:48.160
but guess what the text were deleted. Now, whether or not they retrieved
306
00:24:48.160 --> 00:24:52.200
those texts, we don't know yet. I will be curious to see.
307
00:24:52.599 --> 00:24:57.680
An informant told investigators that she dealt
Corey hydra code on and finnil in the
308
00:24:57.759 --> 00:25:03.119
months and the week prior to his
murder. Corey told the dealer the drugs
309
00:25:03.119 --> 00:25:06.079
were for an investor who had back
pain. I don't know about y'all,
310
00:25:06.079 --> 00:25:08.640
but I would not be going to
some drug dealer for any investor, or
311
00:25:08.640 --> 00:25:12.079
really anybody at all ever, but
an investor. You're gonna rise a jail
312
00:25:12.119 --> 00:25:15.319
time, prison time when we know
it's alive. It going, Oh,
313
00:25:15.359 --> 00:25:19.359
my investor has back pain. Let
me just not encourage him to go see
314
00:25:19.359 --> 00:25:25.359
a pain doctor and just kid on
the street where Finneil's everywhere, so scary,
315
00:25:26.000 --> 00:25:29.039
what is out there? I saw
a video just recently of a cop
316
00:25:29.440 --> 00:25:33.200
who did a traffic stop and got
like a tiny, tiny amount of finneil
317
00:25:33.279 --> 00:25:37.000
on her hand and had to be
revived with narcan scary stuff. Yea off,
318
00:25:37.000 --> 00:25:40.440
you see me wearing rubber gloves out
in public. I'm not a germophobe.
319
00:25:41.240 --> 00:25:44.559
I'm just scared of Fintneill being on
something. I'm telling you, I'm
320
00:25:44.640 --> 00:25:48.359
neurotic about it. She tried to
kill him near Valentine's Day by putting drugs
321
00:25:48.400 --> 00:25:53.160
into a sandwich, but he survived. She then went to the dealer asking
322
00:25:53.240 --> 00:25:59.279
for something stronger, including quote,
some of the Michael Jackson stuff quote and
323
00:26:00.000 --> 00:26:03.960
typically asked for Fintonil. Now,
the Michael Jackson stuff she's referring to that
324
00:26:03.079 --> 00:26:08.400
is propafal that's typically given right before
you're under anesthesia. It's white, it
325
00:26:08.440 --> 00:26:12.599
looks milky, and it's not easy
to get. You have to have a
326
00:26:12.599 --> 00:26:18.400
connection inside a hospital. Ever since
Michael Jackson's death, that stuff is very
327
00:26:18.759 --> 00:26:22.079
heavily regulated. So no dice on
that for her. But what did her
328
00:26:22.079 --> 00:26:26.559
dealer do? Contacted another dealer on
February twenty six of twenty twenty two,
329
00:26:26.599 --> 00:26:32.680
which was six days before his murder, asking for the Finneil. So Corey
330
00:26:32.720 --> 00:26:37.119
paid nine hundred dollars for Finteil pills
just days before he was killed, and
331
00:26:37.160 --> 00:26:41.079
then just right before the murder,
she asked for another nine hundred dollars worth.
332
00:26:41.680 --> 00:26:45.599
The dealer must have made a deal
and will testify against her, is
333
00:26:45.640 --> 00:26:51.039
kind of the vibe I'm getting,
and I really do think that's going to
334
00:26:51.079 --> 00:26:55.839
solidify this case in a lot of
ways, especially with text communications or even
335
00:26:55.880 --> 00:26:59.359
phone calls to a dealer. So
he was suspicious that she was trying to
336
00:26:59.359 --> 00:27:03.039
poison him for quite a while,
including a trip degrees a few years ago.
337
00:27:03.440 --> 00:27:07.839
He had actually called a sister and
said he had gotten super sick after
338
00:27:07.920 --> 00:27:11.680
having a drink she had given him. He also told his family if something
339
00:27:11.759 --> 00:27:15.359
happened to him, it would be
from her. He had also previously told
340
00:27:15.359 --> 00:27:19.000
a friend he thought his wife had
poisoned him after he got six shortly after
341
00:27:19.039 --> 00:27:22.519
eating. He told the friend he
was worried she may kill him for the
342
00:27:22.599 --> 00:27:30.079
money. Investigators found communications between the
Corey and the drug dealer. Those started
343
00:27:30.119 --> 00:27:33.880
in about December of twenty twenty one, by the way up into as we
344
00:27:33.920 --> 00:27:37.440
know now February of twenty twenty two. So she was charged in May of
345
00:27:37.640 --> 00:27:42.839
aggravated murder first degree felony, two
counts of possession of a controlled substance with
346
00:27:44.000 --> 00:27:48.240
intent to distribute, second degree felonies
by the way, and one possession of
347
00:27:48.279 --> 00:27:52.599
a controlled substance. The last charge
was amended on May eighteenth to include intent
348
00:27:52.680 --> 00:27:59.720
to distribute. She was also in
possession of the date rate drug. From
349
00:27:59.720 --> 00:28:04.920
two fifteen to twenty seventeen. She
bought four separate life insurance policies on her
350
00:28:04.960 --> 00:28:11.119
husband without his knowledge, and the
total of all four of those policies nearly
351
00:28:11.160 --> 00:28:15.640
two million dollars. She also tried
the change the beneficiary from his sister to
352
00:28:15.839 --> 00:28:21.720
herself, a little similar in Valoday
Belle, where he put his sister in
353
00:28:21.839 --> 00:28:26.279
charge of everything. Years before his
murder, she had taken out a two
354
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:30.000
hundred and fifty thousand dollars home equity
line of credit and spent all of it
355
00:28:30.200 --> 00:28:34.680
without him knowing. She took one
hundred thousand dollars from his bank accounts and
356
00:28:34.839 --> 00:28:40.240
spent over thirty thousand dollars on his
credit cards. And as if that wasn't
357
00:28:40.359 --> 00:28:44.279
enough, she also stole one hundred
and thirty four thousand dollars from his business,
358
00:28:44.720 --> 00:28:48.359
which was designated for tax payments.
So you see, it's kind of
359
00:28:48.400 --> 00:28:55.400
that that money. Obviously it's a
money motive. He confronted her about that
360
00:28:55.480 --> 00:28:59.599
money, and she agreed she would
pay it back. Family members who spoke
361
00:28:59.640 --> 00:29:03.960
with him Investigators said Eric was wanting
a divorce and had changed his life insurance
362
00:29:04.000 --> 00:29:10.519
policy and will shortly before his murder. Documents confirmed that he met with an
363
00:29:10.519 --> 00:29:15.799
attorney and an estate planner way back
in October of twenty twenty, and that
364
00:29:15.880 --> 00:29:18.680
was just a month after he found
out she had made all those financial moves
365
00:29:18.720 --> 00:29:23.039
with the home equity, stealing money
from the business. Now she found out
366
00:29:23.039 --> 00:29:27.160
two months after his murder that he
had changed to the beneficiary to his sister
367
00:29:27.279 --> 00:29:33.160
and not to her. His sister
was also named the manager of his estate
368
00:29:33.240 --> 00:29:37.160
and trust. Now. Corey,
of course, had been arguing with his
369
00:29:37.319 --> 00:29:41.720
family since the day after the murder, and I read she punched his sister
370
00:29:41.960 --> 00:29:48.079
in the face. Corey sued the
family for more than three point six million
371
00:29:48.119 --> 00:29:53.079
and also wanted to remove Eric's sister, her name is Katie Benson, as
372
00:29:53.160 --> 00:29:57.440
the trustee, saying that they had
a pre nump and her husband signed which
373
00:29:57.519 --> 00:30:03.519
gave her his asset if he died
before they divorced. There had also been
374
00:30:03.640 --> 00:30:08.359
arguments between Corey and his family about
how to split a masonry business with Eric's
375
00:30:08.400 --> 00:30:12.640
former partner and also the trust he
had for his next of ken. They
376
00:30:12.720 --> 00:30:18.640
also apparently have been at odds about
an unfinished your mansion two million dollars the
377
00:30:18.839 --> 00:30:25.119
day after She finalized that the day
after he was murdered by the way,
378
00:30:25.279 --> 00:30:29.039
she wanted to resell it quickly.
However, Eric was not on board with
379
00:30:29.119 --> 00:30:32.920
that. He didn't want to do
it due to the two million dollar price
380
00:30:33.039 --> 00:30:34.759
tag on the house. I mean, who would want to say, if
381
00:30:34.839 --> 00:30:40.680
you're not rolling in the dough that, yeah, let's put two thousand two
382
00:30:40.759 --> 00:30:42.960
or two million dollars on a twenty
thousand square foot mansion. This is not
383
00:30:44.079 --> 00:30:48.000
even finished because it's not finished.
I looked it up after his murderer.
384
00:30:48.200 --> 00:30:52.359
The hear is the kicker. Here's
just sort of like the insult to injury.
385
00:30:52.440 --> 00:30:56.119
She wrote a book for children about
grief. It was called Are You
386
00:30:56.279 --> 00:31:02.880
With Me? It was released five
days after the one year anniversary of his
387
00:31:03.000 --> 00:31:07.160
death, about children coping with the
loss of a father. Now. A
388
00:31:07.240 --> 00:31:11.359
month before her arrest, she appeared
on a show called Good Things Utah to
389
00:31:11.440 --> 00:31:15.480
promote that same book. The article
on ABC four says she tells us she
390
00:31:15.559 --> 00:31:21.519
needed the distraction and a way to
channel and articulate the family's feelings. The
391
00:31:21.599 --> 00:31:27.400
Beautiful Book is based around Corey's three
c's connection. Keep the person's spirit alive,
392
00:31:27.440 --> 00:31:33.079
who has past, talking about them, sharing memories of them doing the
393
00:31:33.119 --> 00:31:37.839
things they used to do. Letting
children tell stories of those loved ones continuity,
394
00:31:38.160 --> 00:31:42.640
Try and keep routines and schedules as
normal as possible, sports, school
395
00:31:42.640 --> 00:31:48.519
pickups and drop offs, living situation, friends, etc. Keep their normal
396
00:31:48.640 --> 00:31:52.039
daily environment for as long as possible. You know how you do that.
397
00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:56.640
You don't kill their dad, woman
care, affirming their feelings, Understanding when
398
00:31:56.920 --> 00:32:01.240
they are sad, mad, lonely, and talking about those feelings and letting
399
00:32:01.240 --> 00:32:05.960
them know it's okay. Don't try
to change their feelings, but letting them
400
00:32:06.000 --> 00:32:09.240
cope with the stages of Greece with
plenty of hugs, kisses and empathy.
401
00:32:09.920 --> 00:32:13.680
She said, it's, you know, explaining to my kid, just because
402
00:32:13.720 --> 00:32:17.720
he's not present with us physically doesn't
mean his presence isn't here with us.
403
00:32:17.759 --> 00:32:22.519
She told the anchors, who actually
told her what an amazing woman she was.
404
00:32:22.559 --> 00:32:25.720
They had no idea, y'all.
By the way, she hit it
405
00:32:25.759 --> 00:32:30.640
well, even though at that point
she was well under investigation. Sometimes they
406
00:32:30.680 --> 00:32:34.640
just let these people do this.
Come on in the air, give somebody
407
00:32:34.720 --> 00:32:37.319
enough rope, you know the rest
of the story. She said her inspiration
408
00:32:37.599 --> 00:32:42.079
for writing the book was due to
lack of resources for this, and had
409
00:32:42.079 --> 00:32:45.440
planned to write sequels. So,
in other words, not enough books on
410
00:32:46.200 --> 00:32:51.400
the situation where kids lose their father. So I'm gonna write one and then
411
00:32:51.400 --> 00:32:55.119
two more. Eric was very well
known in the community as family were in
412
00:32:55.200 --> 00:33:00.400
politics and apparently very active in their
church. The children who are with members
413
00:33:00.400 --> 00:33:05.440
of Eric's family and his sister,
I believe the one is who is the
414
00:33:05.480 --> 00:33:09.960
trustee has actually filed to be their
guardian. So about this goes back to
415
00:33:10.000 --> 00:33:15.799
fruit Loop and Brianne's hiding place.
About six percent of the seventeen thousand,
416
00:33:15.920 --> 00:33:21.319
nine hundred and seventy males who were
murdered in twenty twenty one were victims of
417
00:33:21.480 --> 00:33:27.039
intimate partner homicide. So her next
court appearance is set for June twelfth.
418
00:33:27.079 --> 00:33:30.880
It was rescheduled after the defense filed
emotion to continue. I'm keeping an eye
419
00:33:30.920 --> 00:33:35.559
on that one. Very interesting.
Another one of those where you just sort
420
00:33:35.599 --> 00:33:38.160
of think, well, what was
she thinking? Did she think this would
421
00:33:38.200 --> 00:33:42.799
work? And that's the thing y'all, it ain't gonna work, okay.
422
00:33:42.960 --> 00:33:47.319
So I wanted to update on Orn
and Orson West, whose birth and given
423
00:33:47.400 --> 00:33:52.119
names were sincere and classic. I
want to acknowledge that because that is a
424
00:33:52.119 --> 00:33:57.559
big part of what their parents,
their biological parents, find important. I'm
425
00:33:57.559 --> 00:34:00.920
going to refer to him as Orn
and Orson because we didn't know this until
426
00:34:00.400 --> 00:34:05.079
much later in the case. So
as we know, the boys were adopted
427
00:34:05.079 --> 00:34:09.840
by Jacqueline and Trezelle West. They
were reported missing on December twenty first,
428
00:34:09.880 --> 00:34:14.159
twenty twenty, and had not been
seen for a while prior to that.
429
00:34:14.320 --> 00:34:16.800
Their bodies, by the way,
have never been found and they need to
430
00:34:16.800 --> 00:34:22.320
fess up and tell where those sweet
babies are. But Jacqueline and Triesll West
431
00:34:22.400 --> 00:34:25.039
moved from Bakersfield, California, to
Cows City in twenty twenty, which is
432
00:34:25.079 --> 00:34:30.199
where the boys were reported missing from. They were found guilty of five of
433
00:34:30.239 --> 00:34:36.840
the seven charges against them. They
were found guilty second degree murder and involuntary
434
00:34:37.000 --> 00:34:42.920
manslaughter only for Oran, not for
Orson, which blows my mind. Blows
435
00:34:42.960 --> 00:34:47.639
my mind completely. If one's missing
and you haven't found them, there's a
436
00:34:47.760 --> 00:34:53.079
really good chance it's the same fate
Unfortunately for the other. They were found
437
00:34:53.079 --> 00:35:00.760
guilty on child cruelty and falsely reporting
an emergency for both and Orson. The
438
00:35:00.880 --> 00:35:05.519
jury was just deadlocked on the charges
of second degree murder and conspiracy to commit
439
00:35:05.599 --> 00:35:09.440
murder for Orson, and a mistrial
was declared on those two charges. They'll
440
00:35:09.480 --> 00:35:15.280
decided sentencing whether or not to retry
them on them counts. I hope they
441
00:35:15.360 --> 00:35:20.400
do. On the account for conspiracy
to commit murder, that was not unanimous,
442
00:35:20.440 --> 00:35:24.679
the vote was eight guilty for not
guilty. For involuntary manslaughter, it
443
00:35:24.760 --> 00:35:30.199
had ten votes for guilty and two
not guilty. During the trial, it
444
00:35:30.280 --> 00:35:37.360
was revealed that investigators became suspicious after
interviewing the West's other children and after an
445
00:35:37.400 --> 00:35:40.360
interview on December twenty eighth, twenty
twenty, which was just about a week
446
00:35:40.440 --> 00:35:45.480
after the boys were reported missing,
the eldest child told a sulcier worker that
447
00:35:45.719 --> 00:35:52.920
was interviewing him. The night before
Oran apparently died, Jacqueline and Trezelle put
448
00:35:52.960 --> 00:35:57.079
Orange's food in a blender and then
put it in a bottle. He said
449
00:35:57.159 --> 00:36:00.000
the reason that his parents did this
is because Orange chow with his mouth open.
450
00:36:00.679 --> 00:36:06.199
He also said Oran took a drink
from Orson, and the parents told
451
00:36:06.360 --> 00:36:10.360
Orson to punch Oran. He did
not see the child his brother. I
452
00:36:10.440 --> 00:36:14.880
mean, why are you adopting kids. You're not adopting them because you love
453
00:36:14.920 --> 00:36:19.559
them. They were fostering kids.
They had several foster kids, and it's
454
00:36:19.639 --> 00:36:23.239
all about the money with these people. These kids are a pay check when
455
00:36:23.239 --> 00:36:28.039
that adoption because final, you get
no more money for those kids. I
456
00:36:28.159 --> 00:36:34.639
fully believe that these people took in
these kids for money. Their child said
457
00:36:34.719 --> 00:36:39.840
that the night that Oran apparently was
murdered, he heard strange noises coming from
458
00:36:39.840 --> 00:36:45.159
his bed. He said he saw
vomit coming from Oran's nose, and his
459
00:36:45.280 --> 00:36:50.320
parents told him Oran had died.
The child said when he touched Oran,
460
00:36:50.800 --> 00:36:53.079
he was cold. He said his
parents and told him not to say a
461
00:36:53.119 --> 00:36:58.239
word or he and his siblings would
be taken away from them. He said
462
00:36:58.280 --> 00:37:02.119
that Orson moved with the family to
Cow's City, but disappeared not long after
463
00:37:02.159 --> 00:37:06.599
the move. He said his parents
had told him that Orson went to his
464
00:37:06.679 --> 00:37:13.000
grandmother's house. Also revealed at the
trial was a discrepancy. Jacqueline told authorities
465
00:37:13.400 --> 00:37:15.599
she said she ran down the street
to look for the boys, but guess
466
00:37:15.679 --> 00:37:21.920
what surveillance cameras don't live and it
didn't back up her story. They found
467
00:37:22.000 --> 00:37:24.519
also she had been on the phone
with her oldest son for four to five
468
00:37:24.559 --> 00:37:30.559
minutes during that exact time frame.
Other discrepancies that came out was when they
469
00:37:30.599 --> 00:37:35.800
said they had visited Jacqueline's mother for
her birthday on December fifth. The West
470
00:37:35.960 --> 00:37:39.920
claimed they dropped things off and left. However, Jacqueline's mother said they stayed
471
00:37:40.039 --> 00:37:45.920
and Triselle went and got food.
She does not remember or and Orson being
472
00:37:45.960 --> 00:37:50.280
with him at the time, and
cell phone records showed that both Jacqueline and
473
00:37:50.360 --> 00:37:54.679
Trizelle were in different parts of Bakersfield, California, that day. Trizelle's mother
474
00:37:54.800 --> 00:38:00.320
also said she babysat for them on
September nineteenth of twenty twenty, and only
475
00:38:00.360 --> 00:38:05.880
therefore children were there, not or
In Orson. She just assumed Jacqueline's mom
476
00:38:06.320 --> 00:38:12.159
had the boys. Investigators ultimately believed
that Orn was killed just before the family
477
00:38:12.199 --> 00:38:15.280
made that move to cal City,
and they were worried that Triselle's mom would
478
00:38:15.320 --> 00:38:22.079
be suspicious if she only saw Oran, which their theory is why Orson was
479
00:38:22.159 --> 00:38:27.920
killed. As well. Triselle's mom
and her husband had planned to visit the
480
00:38:27.960 --> 00:38:31.159
family in cal City for Christmas.
She's sent some gifts for the kids and
481
00:38:31.360 --> 00:38:35.920
asked for a family photo of all
of them in front of a fireplace,
482
00:38:36.199 --> 00:38:42.719
which she never got. Investigators believed
that that was the pressure that forced Jacqueline
483
00:38:42.719 --> 00:38:49.119
and Triselle to make the call that
said the boys were missing. Sentencing is
484
00:38:49.159 --> 00:38:52.159
set for July thirteenth. In that
case, they faced life in prison,
485
00:38:52.800 --> 00:38:57.000
and I do hope they retry that
case, and I also hope there's some
486
00:38:57.079 --> 00:39:00.079
revelations maybe we find the boys.
Those sweet babies need to be laid to
487
00:39:00.159 --> 00:39:05.880
rest in a proper way, much
like jj Antily. We're still waiting on
488
00:39:05.960 --> 00:39:09.320
that as well. I'm hoping to
goodness those babies are released soon, and
489
00:39:09.360 --> 00:39:15.000
I'm hoping that or Orson's bodies are
found. Maybe that will answer the fact
490
00:39:15.320 --> 00:39:22.159
that Orson was murdered. I just
don't understand you. I know that you
491
00:39:22.239 --> 00:39:29.079
have testimony from one kid who I
believe is twelve now ten at the time,
492
00:39:29.480 --> 00:39:34.599
who physically saw that Oran was dead. It blows my mind that this
493
00:39:34.679 --> 00:39:38.280
jury could say, yeah, you're
guilty of killing Oran and conspiring to kill
494
00:39:38.360 --> 00:39:44.320
him, but not Orson. These
babies were tiny. They were toddlers.
495
00:39:44.400 --> 00:39:47.519
They don't disappear on their own.
Somebody took them or trees ellen jackal and
496
00:39:47.639 --> 00:39:53.000
hurt them. So I was very
disappointed without outcome when this was handed down.
497
00:39:53.280 --> 00:39:58.320
I wasn't able to really read much
about it, and I think I
498
00:39:58.400 --> 00:40:01.000
might have said that they were found
guilty on both the serious counts of murder,
499
00:40:01.000 --> 00:40:07.679
but unfortunately for little Orson, justice
was not served for him. So
500
00:40:07.719 --> 00:40:10.039
maybe the next guy around. I
hope they do it all right, guys,
501
00:40:10.079 --> 00:40:14.400
that's it, So what's the plan
now. I'm just still catching up
502
00:40:14.400 --> 00:40:15.960
on cases. That's kind of how
the rest of the week's going to be.
503
00:40:16.480 --> 00:40:22.079
Next week I will start Latitia Stout. So many of you just didn't
504
00:40:22.119 --> 00:40:27.960
have time to watch the trial.
Orn In Orson West as well as Letitia
505
00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:31.280
Stouk, came at the very beginning
of valo I was in Valoville for six
506
00:40:31.320 --> 00:40:37.000
sile of weeks, very busy.
So I'm just playing catch up for you
507
00:40:37.119 --> 00:40:40.920
guys and for me who have been
emotionally invested in these cases, all involving
508
00:40:42.000 --> 00:40:46.760
children, just so disturbing, But
we will get there. I'm gonna kind
509
00:40:46.760 --> 00:40:50.840
of go at my own pace.
I'm not gonna stress myself out too much.
510
00:40:50.920 --> 00:40:54.239
But we'll be cranking out some episodes
on a regular basis for you now.
511
00:40:54.360 --> 00:40:59.519
Sunday night at seven, I'm planning
to do a big live for everybody.
512
00:40:59.519 --> 00:41:02.119
I do them once a week for
my Patreon subscribers. Remember Patreon,
513
00:41:02.679 --> 00:41:07.039
you don't get anything. The general
public doesn't get what you do get.
514
00:41:07.159 --> 00:41:12.199
They got the reunion episode a couple
of days early. But I do a
515
00:41:12.239 --> 00:41:15.440
weekly live. If you're a top
pay a member, you get a free
516
00:41:15.440 --> 00:41:19.199
T shirt. It's not much.
I will never charge you for episodes.
517
00:41:19.719 --> 00:41:22.360
So anyways, so that's it for
today. We'll see you tomorrow with some
518
00:41:22.440 --> 00:41:27.760
more news of other cases that have
come and gone. I would like to
519
00:41:27.800 --> 00:41:32.920
follow you're on Vanderslute, who is
widely believed to have murdered Natalie Holloway years
520
00:41:32.920 --> 00:41:37.360
ago. So just a lot of
cases that I'm very excited to bring to
521
00:41:37.400 --> 00:41:40.239
you guys. And so we have
a lot coming up. This summary,
522
00:41:40.280 --> 00:41:44.440
y'all a lot of things. We're
going to be very busy. I'm going
523
00:41:44.480 --> 00:41:46.000
to be here every step of the
way. Thank you guys so much for
524
00:41:46.039 --> 00:41:51.320
supporting me through all this. Thank
you for the new members. And remember,
525
00:41:51.400 --> 00:41:53.360
if you're watching on YouTube, please
subscribe to the channel. It helps
526
00:41:53.400 --> 00:41:57.639
me out, it helps push this
video out to other people who are interested,
527
00:41:58.000 --> 00:42:00.960
and it helps me grow. And
its one really easy way that you
528
00:42:01.000 --> 00:42:06.440
can support this podcast. And I'm
grateful for everybody who's donated or just sent
529
00:42:06.559 --> 00:42:10.039
high words in my inbox, which
I'm trying to kind of chip away out.
530
00:42:10.079 --> 00:42:13.519
I have a lot of messages.
I didn't check them for pretty much
531
00:42:13.559 --> 00:42:16.039
six weeks, y'all, so there's
a lot going on. But hey,
532
00:42:16.679 --> 00:42:21.519
we'll get there together, right,
Okay, guys, We'll see you soon.
533
00:42:21.599 --> 00:42:22.280
Hope you have a great rest of
your evening.
1
00:00:00.960 --> 00:00:05.799
Welcome to Pretty Lies and Alibis.
Let's seek the truth and travel the long
2
00:00:05.919 --> 00:00:14.359
road to justice together. What you
know, alibyers, Welcome to another episode
3
00:00:14.359 --> 00:00:20.039
of Pretty Lies and Alibis. I'm
gig. It's Wednesday and Monday and Tuesday
4
00:00:20.079 --> 00:00:24.879
we played part one and two of
the big Reunion episode with my bestest friend
5
00:00:24.879 --> 00:00:29.280
in the whole world, Fruit Loop, who co founded this podcast, as
6
00:00:29.320 --> 00:00:32.679
you know, moved on in July
of last year to follow her passion,
7
00:00:32.759 --> 00:00:39.280
which is providing a safe place for
domestic violence victims with Brianne, her co
8
00:00:39.439 --> 00:00:43.399
founder, and on behalf of them. I just want to say a huge,
9
00:00:43.759 --> 00:00:48.200
huge thank you to everybody who was
able to and chose to donate.
10
00:00:48.560 --> 00:00:52.679
I know everybody doesn't have the means, so just positive vibes sent their way
11
00:00:52.840 --> 00:00:57.520
is amazing. But to those of
you who bought things off that Amazon wish
12
00:00:57.560 --> 00:01:03.079
list or sent donations, they have
been blown away. I've gotten a couple
13
00:01:03.119 --> 00:01:07.879
of texts from them today. They
just had no clue that it would be
14
00:01:07.959 --> 00:01:11.560
so successful. And thank you guys
from the bottom of my heart. You
15
00:01:11.599 --> 00:01:18.120
guys know better than anybody how domestic
violent situations can end up, which is
16
00:01:18.200 --> 00:01:23.239
in a really terrible headline, and
so what they're doing is providing a place
17
00:01:23.439 --> 00:01:26.560
to prevent that. And not only
that, they're providing a place where they
18
00:01:26.640 --> 00:01:33.719
are giving counseling by a licensed counselor, they are assisting them with finding jobs
19
00:01:33.760 --> 00:01:38.599
and breaking that cycle that tends to
be kind of like an heirloom handed down
20
00:01:38.840 --> 00:01:42.879
from generation to generation, those cycles
of abuse. So thank you so much
21
00:01:42.959 --> 00:01:47.959
on behalf of Fruit Loop am Brianne. You guys rock. You are amazing.
22
00:01:48.439 --> 00:01:52.680
I think we have the best group
of listeners out there. Music fact
23
00:01:52.680 --> 00:01:57.439
of the day Phil Collins, who
I love. He had more top forty
24
00:01:57.560 --> 00:02:01.040
hits on the Billboard Hot one hundred
during the eighties than any other artist,
25
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:06.319
and I would believe that I have
to say, against all odds, maybe
26
00:02:06.400 --> 00:02:10.919
my favorite by him because that song
is sung with so much passion, like
27
00:02:12.039 --> 00:02:15.039
you can feel that song. Such
a great artist. I hate that he's
28
00:02:15.080 --> 00:02:20.960
not able to tour anymore due to
back issues, but I still love jamming
29
00:02:20.960 --> 00:02:25.120
out to some Phil Collins every now
and then. Real quick update on Caitlin
30
00:02:25.319 --> 00:02:31.360
Armstrong. As we know, she
was arrested for murdering fellow cyclist Moe Wilson.
31
00:02:31.840 --> 00:02:36.159
This is the girl who ran off
to Costa Rica got like the face
32
00:02:36.240 --> 00:02:39.719
job, came back, and now
she's in jail awaiting trial. It was
33
00:02:39.800 --> 00:02:45.159
set to originally start on June twenty
sixth, but now that's been moved to
34
00:02:45.199 --> 00:02:47.400
October thirtieth, so I wanted to
give you a heads up on that.
35
00:02:47.479 --> 00:02:51.800
It's a busy summer. There's a
lot of big trials coming up, and
36
00:02:52.240 --> 00:02:57.080
a lot of what I'm in to
cover depends on when Laurie Valo is going
37
00:02:57.120 --> 00:03:00.520
to be SINISD. I've heard maybe
August. Nothing in Stone yet, and
38
00:03:00.560 --> 00:03:05.400
then she'll have those conspiracy charges in
Arizona that I hope to go out for.
39
00:03:06.240 --> 00:03:09.919
But in the meantime, let's talk
about some other cases that we have
40
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:14.560
been covering but haven't caught up on. Pretty much. For the whole six
41
00:03:14.599 --> 00:03:19.800
weeks that I was out in Boise
covering Laurie Valo, I really honestly had
42
00:03:19.879 --> 00:03:23.560
no time to catch up on any
of the other cases that we've been following.
43
00:03:23.919 --> 00:03:25.759
So I'm kind of getting back into
the groove now. It took about
44
00:03:25.759 --> 00:03:29.960
a week for me to sort of
decompress from that trial, and I have
45
00:03:30.080 --> 00:03:35.479
to admit the crime scene photos and
the photos of the children's bodies and Tammy
46
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:40.080
bothered me way more than I ever
thought they would. And I'm not shocked
47
00:03:40.560 --> 00:03:44.840
at crime scene photos for the most
part. I worked in a morgue for
48
00:03:44.879 --> 00:03:47.719
a while. I've seen some really
really terrible stuff, but you know,
49
00:03:47.879 --> 00:03:53.199
anytime it involves children, there's a
heaviness to it, and these are really
50
00:03:53.319 --> 00:03:59.599
disturbed me. I'm doing fine.
I'm definitely processing it at all. But
51
00:04:00.080 --> 00:04:03.199
it did when I got home and
things got quiet, really was when it
52
00:04:03.280 --> 00:04:08.719
sort of hit me what I had
seen happen to those three victims, and
53
00:04:09.000 --> 00:04:15.719
especially the kids with how graphic it
was. And yeah, so I just
54
00:04:15.840 --> 00:04:18.519
do appreciate your patients and letting me
come home and just sort of decompress.
55
00:04:18.639 --> 00:04:23.079
I really needed it most of all. I just needed some time with my
56
00:04:23.199 --> 00:04:27.120
kids and my family, and it's
been amazing. But we're back to the
57
00:04:27.120 --> 00:04:30.800
grind because that's what we do and
that's how I'm happiest. So we're going
58
00:04:30.839 --> 00:04:34.040
to update to all good old Elik
Murdock. I mean, literally, all
59
00:04:34.079 --> 00:04:41.000
indictments are flying around like mosquitoes in
the South in July. They're everywhere,
60
00:04:41.160 --> 00:04:46.279
and it's been announced today he was
hit with twenty two federal indictments, including
61
00:04:46.720 --> 00:04:53.279
conspiracy, wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering charges. So the
62
00:04:53.360 --> 00:04:59.040
press release from the FED say in
one scheme, The indictment alleges that from
63
00:04:59.079 --> 00:05:04.279
at least September of two thousand and
five until at least September of twenty twenty
64
00:05:04.279 --> 00:05:10.519
one, Elik devised a scheme to
defraud to obtain money by means of false
65
00:05:10.639 --> 00:05:15.800
pretenses. The indictment also alleges that, as part of this scheme, he
66
00:05:15.920 --> 00:05:23.000
routed and redirected client settlement funds to
personally enrich himself, including by drafting or
67
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:29.879
directing law firm employees to drafts disbursement
sheets to send settlement funds to guess what
68
00:05:30.360 --> 00:05:36.720
his accounts without proper disclosure or client
or law firm approval, Also claiming funds
69
00:05:36.759 --> 00:05:43.279
held in the law firm's trust account
as attorneys fees and directing the disbursement of
70
00:05:43.319 --> 00:05:49.439
those for guess whose benefit Elik Murdoch, claiming and collecting attorney's fees on fake
71
00:05:49.800 --> 00:05:57.639
or non existent annuities, creating fraudulent
expenses that were never incurred on client matters,
72
00:05:57.680 --> 00:06:02.439
and directing the disbursement of attlement funds
to pay the sided costs, including
73
00:06:02.519 --> 00:06:10.879
claimed medical expenses, construction expenses and
airline expenses, directing other attorneys with whom
74
00:06:10.879 --> 00:06:15.639
he was associated on client matters to
disperse attorney fees directly to him, rather
75
00:06:15.680 --> 00:06:23.720
than appropriately routing the feast to the
law firm and intercepting insurance proceeds intended for
76
00:06:23.800 --> 00:06:31.079
the beneficiaries and depositing them where into
his personal account was a moron. In
77
00:06:31.120 --> 00:06:36.439
a second scheme, the indictment alleges
that from in or around July of twenty
78
00:06:36.680 --> 00:06:43.199
eleven until at least October of twenty
twenty one, Ellick conspired with his banker,
79
00:06:43.360 --> 00:06:47.759
Russell Lafitte to commit wire fraud and
bank fraud. The indictment alleges that
80
00:06:47.879 --> 00:06:54.600
Murdra and his law firm asked Lafitte
to serve as a personal representative or conservator
81
00:06:55.120 --> 00:07:00.759
on numerous personal injury clients. Lafitte
collected over three hundred and fifty thousand dollars
82
00:07:00.759 --> 00:07:09.360
in fees as personal representative or conservative
for Murdoch's personal injury clients. As part
83
00:07:09.360 --> 00:07:14.079
of the scheme, the indictment alleges
Murdoch directed law firm employees to make settlements
84
00:07:14.439 --> 00:07:19.000
cash payable to quote palmetto state bank
end quote. The checks were then delivered
85
00:07:19.040 --> 00:07:25.839
to Lafitte, whom Murdoch directed to
use the settlement funds for guess whose benefit,
86
00:07:26.560 --> 00:07:30.959
Ellik Murdoch. The funds were used
to pay off his personal loans and
87
00:07:30.040 --> 00:07:36.680
for personal expenses and cash withdrawals.
Note that private jet. They took a
88
00:07:36.720 --> 00:07:43.000
few places, just saying. In
November of twenty twenty two, Russell Lafitte
89
00:07:43.079 --> 00:07:46.720
was convicted on six federal charges,
including conspiracy, new commit wire fraud,
90
00:07:47.079 --> 00:07:53.600
and bank fraud. He is awaiting
sentencing and in a third scheme, yeah,
91
00:07:53.600 --> 00:07:59.079
because you know there's gonna be three
with Murdoch. It alleges that insects
92
00:07:59.079 --> 00:08:03.560
September of twenty fifteen, he created
a bank account in the name of Forge,
93
00:08:03.680 --> 00:08:09.079
presenting as a legal corporation for structuring
insurance settlements. Of course we know
94
00:08:09.160 --> 00:08:15.839
Elik Murdoch was the owner of and
the only authorized signer on his fake Fourge
95
00:08:15.879 --> 00:08:20.680
account. The indictment alleges that from
in or around May twenty seventeen through at
96
00:08:20.800 --> 00:08:26.920
least July of twenty twenty one,
he funnels stolen personal injury settlements through that
97
00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:33.320
fake Furge account. He's charged with
fourteen counts of money laundering for using the
98
00:08:33.399 --> 00:08:39.000
transactions in the fake Forge account to
conceal the proceeds of his fraud. The
99
00:08:39.080 --> 00:08:46.080
indictment further alleges from in or around
February twenty eighteen until at least October twenty
100
00:08:46.159 --> 00:08:50.720
twenty, he conspired with a personal
injury attorney in Bufort to defraud the estate
101
00:08:50.759 --> 00:08:56.639
of Murda's former housekeeper and Murda's homeowners
insurance carriators. This is the Glorious Adderfield
102
00:08:56.720 --> 00:09:01.080
case. In February of two thousand
and eight teen, Murda's housekeeper. They
103
00:09:01.080 --> 00:09:05.000
didn't name her, but will go
ahead and say her name, Gloria Sadderfield.
104
00:09:05.080 --> 00:09:09.200
She passed away after a fall at
the Murda's home. Now here's the
105
00:09:09.279 --> 00:09:13.440
interesting thing. Murdo just recently admitted
that he lied that the dogs knocked her
106
00:09:13.519 --> 00:09:18.120
over. So my question is this, how do you get all those injuries
107
00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:22.039
from falling down a few stairs.
Murda recommended the housekeeper's estate hire the Bufor
108
00:09:22.120 --> 00:09:28.919
attorney to represent them and file a
claim against Murda to collect from his homeowner's
109
00:09:28.919 --> 00:09:33.639
insurance policies. So the insurance companies
settled the estate's claim for five hundred and
110
00:09:33.720 --> 00:09:41.240
five thousand and three point eight million
dollars The indictment alleges that Murda and the
111
00:09:41.399 --> 00:09:50.720
personal injury attorney conspired to siphon settlement
funds disguised as prosecution expenses for their own
112
00:09:50.799 --> 00:09:56.200
personal enrichment. The indictment further alleges
that Murdo directed the bufor attorney to draft
113
00:09:56.279 --> 00:10:03.000
checks totaling nearly three point five million
dollars payable to that fake Forge account.
114
00:10:03.080 --> 00:10:07.279
Cheez Louise, how does this dude
rest his head at night? I mean,
115
00:10:07.279 --> 00:10:13.159
you have defrauded so many vulnerable people. He deposited all that, by
116
00:10:13.159 --> 00:10:16.440
the way, into that fake Forge
account and use the funds for his own
117
00:10:16.480 --> 00:10:22.679
personal enrichment. The estate did not
receive any of the settlement funds. However,
118
00:10:22.879 --> 00:10:28.279
we do know that Glorious Adderfield's children
have settled and that the settlement was
119
00:10:28.519 --> 00:10:33.679
more than what was actually stolen for
them. Good for them, and they
120
00:10:33.720 --> 00:10:37.159
should be taken care of. So
One count of conspiracy to come at wire
121
00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:41.080
and bank fraud, what is that? Punishable by up to thirty years in
122
00:10:41.159 --> 00:10:46.960
prison and a fine up to a
million dollars. One count of bank fraud
123
00:10:46.000 --> 00:10:52.919
punishable same thirty years, million dollars
fine. Two council wire fraud punishable by
124
00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:58.120
up to thirty years in prison for
each count and a fine up to a
125
00:10:58.240 --> 00:11:03.320
million dollars. Better be winning a
lot of sports bets and forego the five
126
00:11:03.399 --> 00:11:07.559
cans of soup and the bee sticks
because he gonna need lots of money to
127
00:11:07.600 --> 00:11:11.759
settle this stuff. Three counts a
wire fraud, punishable by up to twenty
128
00:11:11.840 --> 00:11:15.559
years in prison and a fine of
two hundred and fifty thousand, one kind
129
00:11:15.600 --> 00:11:18.759
of conspiracy to commit wire fraud,
which is punishable by up to twenty years
130
00:11:18.759 --> 00:11:24.559
in prison and a fine of a
million dollars, And last, but not
131
00:11:24.720 --> 00:11:30.559
least, fourteen counts of money laundering, punishable by up to twenty years in
132
00:11:30.600 --> 00:11:35.720
prison and a fine of up to
five hundred thousand dollars. So what do
133
00:11:35.759 --> 00:11:37.759
I think. I think he'll just
plead guilty to all these and he can
134
00:11:37.799 --> 00:11:41.279
go to a nice, cushy little
federal prison where they play pickleball at like
135
00:11:41.399 --> 00:11:46.120
three. You know, with all
of his other stealing buddies that he's going
136
00:11:46.159 --> 00:11:50.679
to make in there. Who knows
what's up. We know that the people
137
00:11:50.840 --> 00:11:56.600
over the money denied him the chance
to dip into some money to pay his
138
00:11:56.679 --> 00:12:01.159
attorneys, So it'll be curious to
see if him Griffin and Dick Harpootlian state
139
00:12:01.240 --> 00:12:05.519
on pro bono or are they gonna
say see you later, buddy, here's
140
00:12:05.519 --> 00:12:11.919
your public defenders. Lots going on. That man could die and be revived
141
00:12:11.080 --> 00:12:16.759
like fifty times and still have time
to serve. So if you like was
142
00:12:16.840 --> 00:12:22.720
Laurie Valo and believed in different probations, he gonna need like fifty probations to
143
00:12:22.759 --> 00:12:24.919
serve all this time. He's up
against I think at last count, before
144
00:12:24.960 --> 00:12:28.639
all this, he might have been
facing like seven hundred years in prison.
145
00:12:30.159 --> 00:12:35.159
Every one of these victims deserves their
account to be put against him and ruled
146
00:12:35.240 --> 00:12:39.919
upon. He's toast, y'all toast
all right, So we're gonna jump over
147
00:12:39.919 --> 00:12:43.600
to Coburger. And this is a
little bit of a hard one to sort
148
00:12:43.639 --> 00:12:48.039
of weed through all the speculation room
rumor. Believe me, I've been eyeball
149
00:12:48.080 --> 00:12:52.600
deep in speculation and a rumor.
But fact wise us all we're doing here
150
00:12:54.159 --> 00:12:58.720
so as we know, a secret
grand jury and Daddy Cooburger on four counts
151
00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:03.399
of murder in the first and one
count of burglary. And that also means
152
00:13:03.519 --> 00:13:07.080
that preliminary hearing for June. It's
no longer needed. It's been vacated.
153
00:13:07.159 --> 00:13:15.240
We will not hear any details until
this goes to trial. Very very smart
154
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:18.240
move by the state to go through
the grand jury because it keeps things out
155
00:13:18.279 --> 00:13:24.600
of the public. Ultimately, what
we want is a conviction when the evidence
156
00:13:24.639 --> 00:13:28.440
proves he committed these murders, and
so what letting stuff like this out into
157
00:13:28.480 --> 00:13:33.039
the public is a really good way. I'm taking this off, y'all if
158
00:13:33.080 --> 00:13:35.159
you're watching on YouTube, I'd have
had band on because I was outside working
159
00:13:35.159 --> 00:13:39.519
on the car. But there that
feels better. I think my brain was
160
00:13:39.519 --> 00:13:43.600
getting squeezed or something. I had
it on too tight. We all want
161
00:13:43.600 --> 00:13:46.519
to know, right, we all
want to know what did they get him
162
00:13:46.559 --> 00:13:50.679
on. We know the DNA was
on that sheath that was found in one
163
00:13:50.679 --> 00:13:54.440
of the victim's rooms. But you
know, we can wait until trial to
164
00:13:54.480 --> 00:13:56.919
find out these details. It's there's
a gag order in the case. There's
165
00:13:56.919 --> 00:14:01.240
a lot going on, but all
we want is a successful conviction. I'm
166
00:14:01.279 --> 00:14:07.080
cool with things being put under seal
because the truth comes out eventually, just
167
00:14:07.120 --> 00:14:09.279
like with Lorie Valo, we saw
a lot come out at that trial we
168
00:14:09.320 --> 00:14:16.120
had no clue of and I'm okay
with sealing documents if they feel that's what's
169
00:14:16.240 --> 00:14:20.440
needed to get a fair trial.
Think about it. This is in Idaho,
170
00:14:20.519 --> 00:14:24.039
in Moscow, it's tiny. I
have a feeling this may end up
171
00:14:24.039 --> 00:14:26.279
back in Boise. I would love
to go out to Boise to cover this.
172
00:14:26.320 --> 00:14:31.320
When it goes to trial in October, we shall see. But Koburger
173
00:14:31.440 --> 00:14:37.559
nodded as the judge read the charges. What did Cooburger do in court?
174
00:14:37.960 --> 00:14:41.559
He nodded as the judge read the
charges and said, yes, if he
175
00:14:41.639 --> 00:14:46.080
understood the charges. The judge read
Zanna, Ethan, Kaylee, and Maddie's
176
00:14:46.159 --> 00:14:50.039
names out loud with each count.
I hear that the judge guy Kaylee wrong
177
00:14:50.120 --> 00:14:54.000
and called her Kayla. Not a
good look as a huge case. The
178
00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:56.799
world's watching, and it could be
nerves. I'm not judging, but I'm
179
00:14:56.799 --> 00:15:01.080
just saying that had to be hard
for her family that her name was gotten
180
00:15:01.080 --> 00:15:05.159
wrong. He chose to stand silent. The judge entered a not guilty plea
181
00:15:05.279 --> 00:15:09.480
on his behalf. Now, legal
analysts that I've watched say, among several
182
00:15:09.600 --> 00:15:15.399
reasons to do this, one could
be that maybe it helps if he wants
183
00:15:15.440 --> 00:15:18.200
to take a plea deal down the
road. There are sixty days from now
184
00:15:18.279 --> 00:15:22.600
for the state to ask for death
fully expect that to happen. Trial date
185
00:15:22.720 --> 00:15:26.639
was set to October second. They
estimate this trial could tape four to six
186
00:15:26.720 --> 00:15:31.360
weeks now. News Nations Brian Inton
was in the courtroom and said the families
187
00:15:31.399 --> 00:15:37.039
came and took up a lot of
that courtroom. He said Kaylee's sister brought
188
00:15:37.080 --> 00:15:41.480
her new baby to court and the
baby made cooing noises throughout the proceedings and
189
00:15:41.559 --> 00:15:46.200
according to Brian Inton, that was
very powerful in a subtle way. You
190
00:15:46.240 --> 00:15:52.000
have this new life for this family
right there in that courtroom. Surely a
191
00:15:52.080 --> 00:15:58.000
little bit of joy after what has
been just an unimaginable several months since these
192
00:15:58.039 --> 00:16:02.360
brutal murders happened. After the arraignment, there was a hearing about the gag
193
00:16:02.480 --> 00:16:04.919
order in the case, and the
judge said that with the media going to
194
00:16:04.960 --> 00:16:08.879
the Supreme Court about the gag order, it has slowed down the process.
195
00:16:08.960 --> 00:16:14.240
He also said the media needs to
tone down their challenge about the gag order.
196
00:16:15.000 --> 00:16:19.159
Kaylee's family attorney addressed the judge and
wants the gag order issue dealt with
197
00:16:19.399 --> 00:16:23.919
this week. The judge did not
rule and said that that would be addressed
198
00:16:23.919 --> 00:16:29.440
at a hearing on June ninth.
The other issue that will be addressed at
199
00:16:29.440 --> 00:16:33.639
that hearing is regarding cameras in the
courtroom. There is an evidentiary hearing for
200
00:16:33.759 --> 00:16:37.919
June twenty seventh. The bodycam where
he was pulled over for blocking a crosswalk.
201
00:16:38.120 --> 00:16:44.399
I watched that finally. It's very
interesting now. The stop was fifteen
202
00:16:44.440 --> 00:16:48.120
minutes, and he was more argumentative
than compliant. Here's my thing. I
203
00:16:48.159 --> 00:16:52.320
bet he's like a Lori Valo with
his attorneys, except he has a little
204
00:16:52.320 --> 00:16:56.320
bit of a legal background with his
courses that he's taken in college, and
205
00:16:56.799 --> 00:17:03.080
the cop eventually had to go pull
up the law to show him you can't
206
00:17:03.120 --> 00:17:07.200
block a crosswalk, you know.
Can you imagine having to manage your client
207
00:17:07.279 --> 00:17:12.200
who thinks they know more than you
when you're trying to do everything you can
208
00:17:12.240 --> 00:17:15.880
to get them a fair trial.
I think it's probably one of those things
209
00:17:15.880 --> 00:17:19.240
where those lawyers may want to go
through themselves in traffic when they leave their
210
00:17:19.240 --> 00:17:23.279
clients, a source told Dateline,
which they just aired a special this past
211
00:17:23.319 --> 00:17:26.599
weekend. I have yet to watch
it, but I did read a few
212
00:17:27.359 --> 00:17:34.480
different synopsises of it. A source
told Dateline that Coburger's older sister was suspicious
213
00:17:34.599 --> 00:17:38.200
during the holidays, that he may
have killed Zanna, Ethan, Kaylee,
214
00:17:38.279 --> 00:17:45.960
and Maddie when Brian was home after
seeing him wearing latex gloves and knowing the
215
00:17:45.960 --> 00:17:52.359
white Nissan that he drove was the
car being sought after by authorities in Idaho.
216
00:17:52.160 --> 00:17:56.799
Kaylee's dad, Steve, was on
Bamfield and talked about the death penalty.
217
00:17:56.279 --> 00:18:00.799
He said, you can't just hunt
our babies. Come to our state
218
00:18:00.839 --> 00:18:03.519
and hunt our people. It's unacceptable. We're a small state, but you're
219
00:18:03.519 --> 00:18:07.559
going to see how strong we are
and how big we are when you mess
220
00:18:07.599 --> 00:18:12.160
with us here in Idaho. We
can control one thing, and you just
221
00:18:12.319 --> 00:18:18.839
can't hunt babies down. Bless his
heart, I cannot imagine his burden.
222
00:18:18.920 --> 00:18:22.000
He ended by saying, the line
has been crossed and we're gonna go there.
223
00:18:22.839 --> 00:18:27.599
It's interesting to read into his past, and I'm starting to do that
224
00:18:27.839 --> 00:18:33.599
just away from the Facebook group,
so I can figure out his past in
225
00:18:33.640 --> 00:18:38.839
a way where I feel comfortable giving
it. But he enrolled in twenty twenty
226
00:18:38.920 --> 00:18:44.000
at de Sales, where, according
to a fellow student, he showed major
227
00:18:44.079 --> 00:18:48.880
interest in mass murders and crime scenes. One professor remembered him as a brilliant
228
00:18:48.920 --> 00:18:55.079
student, and people who worked at
the Seven Sirens Brewing Company in Pennsylvania said
229
00:18:55.119 --> 00:19:00.519
Brian oftentimes would sit alone, stare
at people, and then eventually he would
230
00:19:00.559 --> 00:19:03.960
harass women. After he kind of
knocked back a few beers. He would
231
00:19:03.960 --> 00:19:08.640
ask them creepy questions about where they
lived or who they were with. A
232
00:19:08.720 --> 00:19:14.599
bartender refused to answer his questions and
Brian called her the B word. The
233
00:19:14.680 --> 00:19:19.400
owner of the brewing company confronted Brian, asking him to please be more respectful.
234
00:19:21.240 --> 00:19:26.359
Research projects that have been made public
also give a glimpse into Brian coburger.
235
00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:27.880
It says, hi, my name
is Brian. The study seeks to
236
00:19:27.960 --> 00:19:33.319
understand the story behind your most recent
criminal offense. Now, he was addressing
237
00:19:33.319 --> 00:19:37.799
people that have been arrested within an
emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your
238
00:19:37.839 --> 00:19:42.799
experience. This research has been approved
by the De Sales University. Thank you
239
00:19:42.839 --> 00:19:47.119
for your time. Some of the
questions upon arriving, what steps did you
240
00:19:47.160 --> 00:19:52.319
take prior to locating the victim or
target? How did you leave the scene,
241
00:19:52.519 --> 00:19:56.240
did you struggle or fight with the
victim? Did you prepare for the
242
00:19:56.279 --> 00:20:00.960
crime before leaving your home, how
did you travel to an into the location
243
00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:04.759
that the crime occurred before making your
move? How did you approach the victim
244
00:20:04.880 --> 00:20:10.519
or target? How did you accomplish
your goal. It's crazy to think that
245
00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:15.160
murdering another human or committing a crime
against somebody's considered a goal, and it
246
00:20:15.240 --> 00:20:19.319
says, please explain what you were
thinking and feeling now we know. Once
247
00:20:19.359 --> 00:20:25.759
he moved to Washington for that PhD
in criminology, he was deemed by students
248
00:20:25.799 --> 00:20:30.279
as a very harsh grater who would
often put handwritten notes with criticism, and
249
00:20:32.079 --> 00:20:36.640
his reputation there really was not a
good one. People labeled him as arrogant
250
00:20:36.640 --> 00:20:41.200
and alienating, and he was known
for being pretentious and always striving to show
251
00:20:41.240 --> 00:20:45.000
he was smarter than others, especially
women. The other thing is the nine
252
00:20:45.000 --> 00:20:48.599
one one call, which has never
been released. I'm very interested to hear
253
00:20:48.640 --> 00:20:52.599
it, but someone in the know
stated it was a frat brother who made
254
00:20:52.640 --> 00:20:57.799
that call. Kaylee's dad said that
one of the roommates who was in the
255
00:20:57.839 --> 00:21:02.640
house at the time of the murder. There's Dylan passed out after the nine
256
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:07.799
one one call, which could explain
the unconscious person that was mentioned on that
257
00:21:07.880 --> 00:21:11.519
nine one one call. A lot
of us were very confused about the difference
258
00:21:11.559 --> 00:21:18.599
between unconscious and a very graphic,
bloody crime scene. Americans spend an average
259
00:21:18.599 --> 00:21:22.160
of ninety percent of their time indoors. According to the EPA, indoor air
260
00:21:22.279 --> 00:21:26.759
could be two to five times more
polluted than outdoor air, and in some
261
00:21:26.839 --> 00:21:33.880
cases it could be one hundred times
more polluted. We take about twenty thousand
262
00:21:33.960 --> 00:21:38.640
breaths per day. That's almost three
gallons of possibly polluted air. Airborne allergens
263
00:21:38.680 --> 00:21:42.519
are the most common allergy triggers,
such as pollen, pet dander, dust
264
00:21:42.599 --> 00:21:47.759
might them mold. Look I love
my animals, but they make me sneeze.
265
00:21:48.079 --> 00:21:49.920
But since I've been using air Doctor, I don't have to take my
266
00:21:49.960 --> 00:21:55.799
allergy medicines and I see a huge
decrease in the amount of dust in my
267
00:21:55.839 --> 00:22:00.440
house. That's a win win.
What's the solution. Air doctors out dangerous
268
00:22:00.480 --> 00:22:07.039
contaminants and allergens so your lungs don't
have to Air Doctor uses an ultra Hepa
269
00:22:07.079 --> 00:22:11.400
filter that's been independently tested to remove
ninety nine point ninety nine percent of tested
270
00:22:11.440 --> 00:22:18.440
bacteria and viruses. The classic air
Doctor three thousand purifier is powerful enough to
271
00:22:18.440 --> 00:22:22.240
circulate the air in a six hundred
and thirty plus square foot room four times
272
00:22:22.279 --> 00:22:26.359
per hour, and the whisper jet
fans are thirty percent quieter than the fans
273
00:22:26.359 --> 00:22:33.119
and ordinary air purifiers. So air
Doctor comes with a no questions ask thirty
274
00:22:33.200 --> 00:22:36.319
day money back guarantee, So if
you don't love it, just send it
275
00:22:36.359 --> 00:22:41.039
back for a refund minus shipping.
So head to air doctor pro dot com
276
00:22:41.039 --> 00:22:44.680
and use promo code what the World, and depending on the model, you'll
277
00:22:44.680 --> 00:22:48.119
receive up to thirty nine percent off. So we're going to move on to
278
00:22:48.440 --> 00:22:53.440
Corey Richens. This one's got me
intrigued, jall. And it's not a
279
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:59.759
complicated case to see what happened,
but I'm always interested in the psychology of
280
00:22:59.799 --> 00:23:04.319
why things happened. Now she's thirty
three and she's been arrested and charged with
281
00:23:04.480 --> 00:23:07.839
killing her husband, Eric, who
was thirty nine. And get this,
282
00:23:07.960 --> 00:23:12.359
y'all, after she murdered him,
she proceeded to write a children's book about
283
00:23:12.480 --> 00:23:18.119
grief on the subject of children losing
their fathers. You can't make this stuff
284
00:23:18.240 --> 00:23:22.160
up. So the two of them
met while she was working at a home
285
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:26.000
depot in Utah. He shot their
office, so they were married, had
286
00:23:26.119 --> 00:23:29.640
kids, and they lived in a
really small mountain town near Park City,
287
00:23:29.799 --> 00:23:33.279
Utah. She's accused of murdering Eric, the father of their three kids,
288
00:23:33.400 --> 00:23:38.839
by putting five times the lethal Dosa
finnil into a drink. It took over
289
00:23:38.880 --> 00:23:44.440
a year of investigating before she was
arrested, so the number one one call
290
00:23:44.559 --> 00:23:49.039
was placed on March fourth, twenty
two, around three twenty am. Eric
291
00:23:49.119 --> 00:23:52.880
was found on the floor at the
foot of the bed and was dead when
292
00:23:52.920 --> 00:23:56.519
first responders arrived. They did try
some life saving measures, but unfortunately it
293
00:23:56.559 --> 00:24:02.079
was too late. She had told
office that they were celebrating a closing on
294
00:24:02.119 --> 00:24:04.680
a house she had just made for
her business. The night before, she
295
00:24:04.720 --> 00:24:10.119
said that they had a vodka drink
and put the kids to bed. And
296
00:24:10.519 --> 00:24:14.880
another version that she told is that
she fell asleep with one of their children
297
00:24:14.920 --> 00:24:18.480
because of a night terror they were
having, and then when she went into
298
00:24:18.559 --> 00:24:21.880
their bedroom around three am, he
was at the foot of the bed.
299
00:24:21.920 --> 00:24:25.319
Found me cold to the touch.
Now here's the thing. Corey said she
300
00:24:25.400 --> 00:24:29.039
left her phone in the bedroom that
night, but guess what, it was
301
00:24:29.079 --> 00:24:33.759
found that she had been opening her
phone several times in the time frame he
302
00:24:33.799 --> 00:24:37.200
would have been dead on the floor, which obviously she would have seen if
303
00:24:37.200 --> 00:24:40.559
she left her phone in the bedroom
and your husband is laying dead on your
304
00:24:40.559 --> 00:24:45.039
floor. There were text messages that
were sent and received during this timeframe,
305
00:24:45.079 --> 00:24:48.160
but guess what the text were deleted. Now, whether or not they retrieved
306
00:24:48.160 --> 00:24:52.200
those texts, we don't know yet. I will be curious to see.
307
00:24:52.599 --> 00:24:57.680
An informant told investigators that she dealt
Corey hydra code on and finnil in the
308
00:24:57.759 --> 00:25:03.119
months and the week prior to his
murder. Corey told the dealer the drugs
309
00:25:03.119 --> 00:25:06.079
were for an investor who had back
pain. I don't know about y'all,
310
00:25:06.079 --> 00:25:08.640
but I would not be going to
some drug dealer for any investor, or
311
00:25:08.640 --> 00:25:12.079
really anybody at all ever, but
an investor. You're gonna rise a jail
312
00:25:12.119 --> 00:25:15.319
time, prison time when we know
it's alive. It going, Oh,
313
00:25:15.359 --> 00:25:19.359
my investor has back pain. Let
me just not encourage him to go see
314
00:25:19.359 --> 00:25:25.359
a pain doctor and just kid on
the street where Finneil's everywhere, so scary,
315
00:25:26.000 --> 00:25:29.039
what is out there? I saw
a video just recently of a cop
316
00:25:29.440 --> 00:25:33.200
who did a traffic stop and got
like a tiny, tiny amount of finneil
317
00:25:33.279 --> 00:25:37.000
on her hand and had to be
revived with narcan scary stuff. Yea off,
318
00:25:37.000 --> 00:25:40.440
you see me wearing rubber gloves out
in public. I'm not a germophobe.
319
00:25:41.240 --> 00:25:44.559
I'm just scared of Fintneill being on
something. I'm telling you, I'm
320
00:25:44.640 --> 00:25:48.359
neurotic about it. She tried to
kill him near Valentine's Day by putting drugs
321
00:25:48.400 --> 00:25:53.160
into a sandwich, but he survived. She then went to the dealer asking
322
00:25:53.240 --> 00:25:59.279
for something stronger, including quote,
some of the Michael Jackson stuff quote and
323
00:26:00.000 --> 00:26:03.960
typically asked for Fintonil. Now,
the Michael Jackson stuff she's referring to that
324
00:26:03.079 --> 00:26:08.400
is propafal that's typically given right before
you're under anesthesia. It's white, it
325
00:26:08.440 --> 00:26:12.599
looks milky, and it's not easy
to get. You have to have a
326
00:26:12.599 --> 00:26:18.400
connection inside a hospital. Ever since
Michael Jackson's death, that stuff is very
327
00:26:18.759 --> 00:26:22.079
heavily regulated. So no dice on
that for her. But what did her
328
00:26:22.079 --> 00:26:26.559
dealer do? Contacted another dealer on
February twenty six of twenty twenty two,
329
00:26:26.599 --> 00:26:32.680
which was six days before his murder, asking for the Finneil. So Corey
330
00:26:32.720 --> 00:26:37.119
paid nine hundred dollars for Finteil pills
just days before he was killed, and
331
00:26:37.160 --> 00:26:41.079
then just right before the murder,
she asked for another nine hundred dollars worth.
332
00:26:41.680 --> 00:26:45.599
The dealer must have made a deal
and will testify against her, is
333
00:26:45.640 --> 00:26:51.039
kind of the vibe I'm getting,
and I really do think that's going to
334
00:26:51.079 --> 00:26:55.839
solidify this case in a lot of
ways, especially with text communications or even
335
00:26:55.880 --> 00:26:59.359
phone calls to a dealer. So
he was suspicious that she was trying to
336
00:26:59.359 --> 00:27:03.039
poison him for quite a while,
including a trip degrees a few years ago.
337
00:27:03.440 --> 00:27:07.839
He had actually called a sister and
said he had gotten super sick after
338
00:27:07.920 --> 00:27:11.680
having a drink she had given him. He also told his family if something
339
00:27:11.759 --> 00:27:15.359
happened to him, it would be
from her. He had also previously told
340
00:27:15.359 --> 00:27:19.000
a friend he thought his wife had
poisoned him after he got six shortly after
341
00:27:19.039 --> 00:27:22.519
eating. He told the friend he
was worried she may kill him for the
342
00:27:22.599 --> 00:27:30.079
money. Investigators found communications between the
Corey and the drug dealer. Those started
343
00:27:30.119 --> 00:27:33.880
in about December of twenty twenty one, by the way up into as we
344
00:27:33.920 --> 00:27:37.440
know now February of twenty twenty two. So she was charged in May of
345
00:27:37.640 --> 00:27:42.839
aggravated murder first degree felony, two
counts of possession of a controlled substance with
346
00:27:44.000 --> 00:27:48.240
intent to distribute, second degree felonies
by the way, and one possession of
347
00:27:48.279 --> 00:27:52.599
a controlled substance. The last charge
was amended on May eighteenth to include intent
348
00:27:52.680 --> 00:27:59.720
to distribute. She was also in
possession of the date rate drug. From
349
00:27:59.720 --> 00:28:04.920
two fifteen to twenty seventeen. She
bought four separate life insurance policies on her
350
00:28:04.960 --> 00:28:11.119
husband without his knowledge, and the
total of all four of those policies nearly
351
00:28:11.160 --> 00:28:15.640
two million dollars. She also tried
the change the beneficiary from his sister to
352
00:28:15.839 --> 00:28:21.720
herself, a little similar in Valoday
Belle, where he put his sister in
353
00:28:21.839 --> 00:28:26.279
charge of everything. Years before his
murder, she had taken out a two
354
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:30.000
hundred and fifty thousand dollars home equity
line of credit and spent all of it
355
00:28:30.200 --> 00:28:34.680
without him knowing. She took one
hundred thousand dollars from his bank accounts and
356
00:28:34.839 --> 00:28:40.240
spent over thirty thousand dollars on his
credit cards. And as if that wasn't
357
00:28:40.359 --> 00:28:44.279
enough, she also stole one hundred
and thirty four thousand dollars from his business,
358
00:28:44.720 --> 00:28:48.359
which was designated for tax payments.
So you see, it's kind of
359
00:28:48.400 --> 00:28:55.400
that that money. Obviously it's a
money motive. He confronted her about that
360
00:28:55.480 --> 00:28:59.599
money, and she agreed she would
pay it back. Family members who spoke
361
00:28:59.640 --> 00:29:03.960
with him Investigators said Eric was wanting
a divorce and had changed his life insurance
362
00:29:04.000 --> 00:29:10.519
policy and will shortly before his murder. Documents confirmed that he met with an
363
00:29:10.519 --> 00:29:15.799
attorney and an estate planner way back
in October of twenty twenty, and that
364
00:29:15.880 --> 00:29:18.680
was just a month after he found
out she had made all those financial moves
365
00:29:18.720 --> 00:29:23.039
with the home equity, stealing money
from the business. Now she found out
366
00:29:23.039 --> 00:29:27.160
two months after his murder that he
had changed to the beneficiary to his sister
367
00:29:27.279 --> 00:29:33.160
and not to her. His sister
was also named the manager of his estate
368
00:29:33.240 --> 00:29:37.160
and trust. Now. Corey,
of course, had been arguing with his
369
00:29:37.319 --> 00:29:41.720
family since the day after the murder, and I read she punched his sister
370
00:29:41.960 --> 00:29:48.079
in the face. Corey sued the
family for more than three point six million
371
00:29:48.119 --> 00:29:53.079
and also wanted to remove Eric's sister, her name is Katie Benson, as
372
00:29:53.160 --> 00:29:57.440
the trustee, saying that they had
a pre nump and her husband signed which
373
00:29:57.519 --> 00:30:03.519
gave her his asset if he died
before they divorced. There had also been
374
00:30:03.640 --> 00:30:08.359
arguments between Corey and his family about
how to split a masonry business with Eric's
375
00:30:08.400 --> 00:30:12.640
former partner and also the trust he
had for his next of ken. They
376
00:30:12.720 --> 00:30:18.640
also apparently have been at odds about
an unfinished your mansion two million dollars the
377
00:30:18.839 --> 00:30:25.119
day after She finalized that the day
after he was murdered by the way,
378
00:30:25.279 --> 00:30:29.039
she wanted to resell it quickly.
However, Eric was not on board with
379
00:30:29.119 --> 00:30:32.920
that. He didn't want to do
it due to the two million dollar price
380
00:30:33.039 --> 00:30:34.759
tag on the house. I mean, who would want to say, if
381
00:30:34.839 --> 00:30:40.680
you're not rolling in the dough that, yeah, let's put two thousand two
382
00:30:40.759 --> 00:30:42.960
or two million dollars on a twenty
thousand square foot mansion. This is not
383
00:30:44.079 --> 00:30:48.000
even finished because it's not finished.
I looked it up after his murderer.
384
00:30:48.200 --> 00:30:52.359
The hear is the kicker. Here's
just sort of like the insult to injury.
385
00:30:52.440 --> 00:30:56.119
She wrote a book for children about
grief. It was called Are You
386
00:30:56.279 --> 00:31:02.880
With Me? It was released five
days after the one year anniversary of his
387
00:31:03.000 --> 00:31:07.160
death, about children coping with the
loss of a father. Now. A
388
00:31:07.240 --> 00:31:11.359
month before her arrest, she appeared
on a show called Good Things Utah to
389
00:31:11.440 --> 00:31:15.480
promote that same book. The article
on ABC four says she tells us she
390
00:31:15.559 --> 00:31:21.519
needed the distraction and a way to
channel and articulate the family's feelings. The
391
00:31:21.599 --> 00:31:27.400
Beautiful Book is based around Corey's three
c's connection. Keep the person's spirit alive,
392
00:31:27.440 --> 00:31:33.079
who has past, talking about them, sharing memories of them doing the
393
00:31:33.119 --> 00:31:37.839
things they used to do. Letting
children tell stories of those loved ones continuity,
394
00:31:38.160 --> 00:31:42.640
Try and keep routines and schedules as
normal as possible, sports, school
395
00:31:42.640 --> 00:31:48.519
pickups and drop offs, living situation, friends, etc. Keep their normal
396
00:31:48.640 --> 00:31:52.039
daily environment for as long as possible. You know how you do that.
397
00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:56.640
You don't kill their dad, woman
care, affirming their feelings, Understanding when
398
00:31:56.920 --> 00:32:01.240
they are sad, mad, lonely, and talking about those feelings and letting
399
00:32:01.240 --> 00:32:05.960
them know it's okay. Don't try
to change their feelings, but letting them
400
00:32:06.000 --> 00:32:09.240
cope with the stages of Greece with
plenty of hugs, kisses and empathy.
401
00:32:09.920 --> 00:32:13.680
She said, it's, you know, explaining to my kid, just because
402
00:32:13.720 --> 00:32:17.720
he's not present with us physically doesn't
mean his presence isn't here with us.
403
00:32:17.759 --> 00:32:22.519
She told the anchors, who actually
told her what an amazing woman she was.
404
00:32:22.559 --> 00:32:25.720
They had no idea, y'all.
By the way, she hit it
405
00:32:25.759 --> 00:32:30.640
well, even though at that point
she was well under investigation. Sometimes they
406
00:32:30.680 --> 00:32:34.640
just let these people do this.
Come on in the air, give somebody
407
00:32:34.720 --> 00:32:37.319
enough rope, you know the rest
of the story. She said her inspiration
408
00:32:37.599 --> 00:32:42.079
for writing the book was due to
lack of resources for this, and had
409
00:32:42.079 --> 00:32:45.440
planned to write sequels. So,
in other words, not enough books on
410
00:32:46.200 --> 00:32:51.400
the situation where kids lose their father. So I'm gonna write one and then
411
00:32:51.400 --> 00:32:55.119
two more. Eric was very well
known in the community as family were in
412
00:32:55.200 --> 00:33:00.400
politics and apparently very active in their
church. The children who are with members
413
00:33:00.400 --> 00:33:05.440
of Eric's family and his sister,
I believe the one is who is the
414
00:33:05.480 --> 00:33:09.960
trustee has actually filed to be their
guardian. So about this goes back to
415
00:33:10.000 --> 00:33:15.799
fruit Loop and Brianne's hiding place.
About six percent of the seventeen thousand,
416
00:33:15.920 --> 00:33:21.319
nine hundred and seventy males who were
murdered in twenty twenty one were victims of
417
00:33:21.480 --> 00:33:27.039
intimate partner homicide. So her next
court appearance is set for June twelfth.
418
00:33:27.079 --> 00:33:30.880
It was rescheduled after the defense filed
emotion to continue. I'm keeping an eye
419
00:33:30.920 --> 00:33:35.559
on that one. Very interesting.
Another one of those where you just sort
420
00:33:35.599 --> 00:33:38.160
of think, well, what was
she thinking? Did she think this would
421
00:33:38.200 --> 00:33:42.799
work? And that's the thing y'all, it ain't gonna work, okay.
422
00:33:42.960 --> 00:33:47.319
So I wanted to update on Orn
and Orson West, whose birth and given
423
00:33:47.400 --> 00:33:52.119
names were sincere and classic. I
want to acknowledge that because that is a
424
00:33:52.119 --> 00:33:57.559
big part of what their parents,
their biological parents, find important. I'm
425
00:33:57.559 --> 00:34:00.920
going to refer to him as Orn
and Orson because we didn't know this until
426
00:34:00.400 --> 00:34:05.079
much later in the case. So
as we know, the boys were adopted
427
00:34:05.079 --> 00:34:09.840
by Jacqueline and Trezelle West. They
were reported missing on December twenty first,
428
00:34:09.880 --> 00:34:14.159
twenty twenty, and had not been
seen for a while prior to that.
429
00:34:14.320 --> 00:34:16.800
Their bodies, by the way,
have never been found and they need to
430
00:34:16.800 --> 00:34:22.320
fess up and tell where those sweet
babies are. But Jacqueline and Triesll West
431
00:34:22.400 --> 00:34:25.039
moved from Bakersfield, California, to
Cows City in twenty twenty, which is
432
00:34:25.079 --> 00:34:30.199
where the boys were reported missing from. They were found guilty of five of
433
00:34:30.239 --> 00:34:36.840
the seven charges against them. They
were found guilty second degree murder and involuntary
434
00:34:37.000 --> 00:34:42.920
manslaughter only for Oran, not for
Orson, which blows my mind. Blows
435
00:34:42.960 --> 00:34:47.639
my mind completely. If one's missing
and you haven't found them, there's a
436
00:34:47.760 --> 00:34:53.079
really good chance it's the same fate
Unfortunately for the other. They were found
437
00:34:53.079 --> 00:35:00.760
guilty on child cruelty and falsely reporting
an emergency for both and Orson. The
438
00:35:00.880 --> 00:35:05.519
jury was just deadlocked on the charges
of second degree murder and conspiracy to commit
439
00:35:05.599 --> 00:35:09.440
murder for Orson, and a mistrial
was declared on those two charges. They'll
440
00:35:09.480 --> 00:35:15.280
decided sentencing whether or not to retry
them on them counts. I hope they
441
00:35:15.360 --> 00:35:20.400
do. On the account for conspiracy
to commit murder, that was not unanimous,
442
00:35:20.440 --> 00:35:24.679
the vote was eight guilty for not
guilty. For involuntary manslaughter, it
443
00:35:24.760 --> 00:35:30.199
had ten votes for guilty and two
not guilty. During the trial, it
444
00:35:30.280 --> 00:35:37.360
was revealed that investigators became suspicious after
interviewing the West's other children and after an
445
00:35:37.400 --> 00:35:40.360
interview on December twenty eighth, twenty
twenty, which was just about a week
446
00:35:40.440 --> 00:35:45.480
after the boys were reported missing,
the eldest child told a sulcier worker that
447
00:35:45.719 --> 00:35:52.920
was interviewing him. The night before
Oran apparently died, Jacqueline and Trezelle put
448
00:35:52.960 --> 00:35:57.079
Orange's food in a blender and then
put it in a bottle. He said
449
00:35:57.159 --> 00:36:00.000
the reason that his parents did this
is because Orange chow with his mouth open.
450
00:36:00.679 --> 00:36:06.199
He also said Oran took a drink
from Orson, and the parents told
451
00:36:06.360 --> 00:36:10.360
Orson to punch Oran. He did
not see the child his brother. I
452
00:36:10.440 --> 00:36:14.880
mean, why are you adopting kids. You're not adopting them because you love
453
00:36:14.920 --> 00:36:19.559
them. They were fostering kids.
They had several foster kids, and it's
454
00:36:19.639 --> 00:36:23.239
all about the money with these people. These kids are a pay check when
455
00:36:23.239 --> 00:36:28.039
that adoption because final, you get
no more money for those kids. I
456
00:36:28.159 --> 00:36:34.639
fully believe that these people took in
these kids for money. Their child said
457
00:36:34.719 --> 00:36:39.840
that the night that Oran apparently was
murdered, he heard strange noises coming from
458
00:36:39.840 --> 00:36:45.159
his bed. He said he saw
vomit coming from Oran's nose, and his
459
00:36:45.280 --> 00:36:50.320
parents told him Oran had died.
The child said when he touched Oran,
460
00:36:50.800 --> 00:36:53.079
he was cold. He said his
parents and told him not to say a
461
00:36:53.119 --> 00:36:58.239
word or he and his siblings would
be taken away from them. He said
462
00:36:58.280 --> 00:37:02.119
that Orson moved with the family to
Cow's City, but disappeared not long after
463
00:37:02.159 --> 00:37:06.599
the move. He said his parents
had told him that Orson went to his
464
00:37:06.679 --> 00:37:13.000
grandmother's house. Also revealed at the
trial was a discrepancy. Jacqueline told authorities
465
00:37:13.400 --> 00:37:15.599
she said she ran down the street
to look for the boys, but guess
466
00:37:15.679 --> 00:37:21.920
what surveillance cameras don't live and it
didn't back up her story. They found
467
00:37:22.000 --> 00:37:24.519
also she had been on the phone
with her oldest son for four to five
468
00:37:24.559 --> 00:37:30.559
minutes during that exact time frame.
Other discrepancies that came out was when they
469
00:37:30.599 --> 00:37:35.800
said they had visited Jacqueline's mother for
her birthday on December fifth. The West
470
00:37:35.960 --> 00:37:39.920
claimed they dropped things off and left. However, Jacqueline's mother said they stayed
471
00:37:40.039 --> 00:37:45.920
and Triselle went and got food.
She does not remember or and Orson being
472
00:37:45.960 --> 00:37:50.280
with him at the time, and
cell phone records showed that both Jacqueline and
473
00:37:50.360 --> 00:37:54.679
Trizelle were in different parts of Bakersfield, California, that day. Trizelle's mother
474
00:37:54.800 --> 00:38:00.320
also said she babysat for them on
September nineteenth of twenty twenty, and only
475
00:38:00.360 --> 00:38:05.880
therefore children were there, not or
In Orson. She just assumed Jacqueline's mom
476
00:38:06.320 --> 00:38:12.159
had the boys. Investigators ultimately believed
that Orn was killed just before the family
477
00:38:12.199 --> 00:38:15.280
made that move to cal City,
and they were worried that Triselle's mom would
478
00:38:15.320 --> 00:38:22.079
be suspicious if she only saw Oran, which their theory is why Orson was
479
00:38:22.159 --> 00:38:27.920
killed. As well. Triselle's mom
and her husband had planned to visit the
480
00:38:27.960 --> 00:38:31.159
family in cal City for Christmas.
She's sent some gifts for the kids and
481
00:38:31.360 --> 00:38:35.920
asked for a family photo of all
of them in front of a fireplace,
482
00:38:36.199 --> 00:38:42.719
which she never got. Investigators believed
that that was the pressure that forced Jacqueline
483
00:38:42.719 --> 00:38:49.119
and Triselle to make the call that
said the boys were missing. Sentencing is
484
00:38:49.159 --> 00:38:52.159
set for July thirteenth. In that
case, they faced life in prison,
485
00:38:52.800 --> 00:38:57.000
and I do hope they retry that
case, and I also hope there's some
486
00:38:57.079 --> 00:39:00.079
revelations maybe we find the boys.
Those sweet babies need to be laid to
487
00:39:00.159 --> 00:39:05.880
rest in a proper way, much
like jj Antily. We're still waiting on
488
00:39:05.960 --> 00:39:09.320
that as well. I'm hoping to
goodness those babies are released soon, and
489
00:39:09.360 --> 00:39:15.000
I'm hoping that or Orson's bodies are
found. Maybe that will answer the fact
490
00:39:15.320 --> 00:39:22.159
that Orson was murdered. I just
don't understand you. I know that you
491
00:39:22.239 --> 00:39:29.079
have testimony from one kid who I
believe is twelve now ten at the time,
492
00:39:29.480 --> 00:39:34.599
who physically saw that Oran was dead. It blows my mind that this
493
00:39:34.679 --> 00:39:38.280
jury could say, yeah, you're
guilty of killing Oran and conspiring to kill
494
00:39:38.360 --> 00:39:44.320
him, but not Orson. These
babies were tiny. They were toddlers.
495
00:39:44.400 --> 00:39:47.519
They don't disappear on their own.
Somebody took them or trees ellen jackal and
496
00:39:47.639 --> 00:39:53.000
hurt them. So I was very
disappointed without outcome when this was handed down.
497
00:39:53.280 --> 00:39:58.320
I wasn't able to really read much
about it, and I think I
498
00:39:58.400 --> 00:40:01.000
might have said that they were found
guilty on both the serious counts of murder,
499
00:40:01.000 --> 00:40:07.679
but unfortunately for little Orson, justice
was not served for him. So
500
00:40:07.719 --> 00:40:10.039
maybe the next guy around. I
hope they do it all right, guys,
501
00:40:10.079 --> 00:40:14.400
that's it, So what's the plan
now. I'm just still catching up
502
00:40:14.400 --> 00:40:15.960
on cases. That's kind of how
the rest of the week's going to be.
503
00:40:16.480 --> 00:40:22.079
Next week I will start Latitia Stout. So many of you just didn't
504
00:40:22.119 --> 00:40:27.960
have time to watch the trial.
Orn In Orson West as well as Letitia
505
00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:31.280
Stouk, came at the very beginning
of valo I was in Valoville for six
506
00:40:31.320 --> 00:40:37.000
sile of weeks, very busy.
So I'm just playing catch up for you
507
00:40:37.119 --> 00:40:40.920
guys and for me who have been
emotionally invested in these cases, all involving
508
00:40:42.000 --> 00:40:46.760
children, just so disturbing, But
we will get there. I'm gonna kind
509
00:40:46.760 --> 00:40:50.840
of go at my own pace.
I'm not gonna stress myself out too much.
510
00:40:50.920 --> 00:40:54.239
But we'll be cranking out some episodes
on a regular basis for you now.
511
00:40:54.360 --> 00:40:59.519
Sunday night at seven, I'm planning
to do a big live for everybody.
512
00:40:59.519 --> 00:41:02.119
I do them once a week for
my Patreon subscribers. Remember Patreon,
513
00:41:02.679 --> 00:41:07.039
you don't get anything. The general
public doesn't get what you do get.
514
00:41:07.159 --> 00:41:12.199
They got the reunion episode a couple
of days early. But I do a
515
00:41:12.239 --> 00:41:15.440
weekly live. If you're a top
pay a member, you get a free
516
00:41:15.440 --> 00:41:19.199
T shirt. It's not much.
I will never charge you for episodes.
517
00:41:19.719 --> 00:41:22.360
So anyways, so that's it for
today. We'll see you tomorrow with some
518
00:41:22.440 --> 00:41:27.760
more news of other cases that have
come and gone. I would like to
519
00:41:27.800 --> 00:41:32.920
follow you're on Vanderslute, who is
widely believed to have murdered Natalie Holloway years
520
00:41:32.920 --> 00:41:37.360
ago. So just a lot of
cases that I'm very excited to bring to
521
00:41:37.400 --> 00:41:40.239
you guys. And so we have
a lot coming up. This summary,
522
00:41:40.280 --> 00:41:44.440
y'all a lot of things. We're
going to be very busy. I'm going
523
00:41:44.480 --> 00:41:46.000
to be here every step of the
way. Thank you guys so much for
524
00:41:46.039 --> 00:41:51.320
supporting me through all this. Thank
you for the new members. And remember,
525
00:41:51.400 --> 00:41:53.360
if you're watching on YouTube, please
subscribe to the channel. It helps
526
00:41:53.400 --> 00:41:57.639
me out, it helps push this
video out to other people who are interested,
527
00:41:58.000 --> 00:42:00.960
and it helps me grow. And
its one really easy way that you
528
00:42:01.000 --> 00:42:06.440
can support this podcast. And I'm
grateful for everybody who's donated or just sent
529
00:42:06.559 --> 00:42:10.039
high words in my inbox, which
I'm trying to kind of chip away out.
530
00:42:10.079 --> 00:42:13.519
I have a lot of messages.
I didn't check them for pretty much
531
00:42:13.559 --> 00:42:16.039
six weeks, y'all, so there's
a lot going on. But hey,
532
00:42:16.679 --> 00:42:21.519
we'll get there together, right,
Okay, guys, We'll see you soon.
533
00:42:21.599 --> 00:42:22.280

your evening.
