FLEXIBILITY: Should Washington Capitals Trade Charlie Lindgren to LAND Cap Space for Defense?

Washington Capitals weigh bold moves as cap space and blue line uncertainty define free agency. Is trading Charlie Lindgren the key to unlocking a top-pair defenseman, or will the front office stick with stability over upside? Decisions loom as Rasmus Sandin’s ACL injury clouds roster planning, Trevor van Riemsdyk’s future hangs in balance, and Alex Ovechkin’s next contract overshadows every move.

Host Dan Holmi breaks down the pressing questions facing Chris Patrick, comparing Lindgren’s performance to rising prospect Clay Stevenson and debating Brandon Duhaime’s role against team needs. The conversation explores how recent additions like Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch alter the Capitals’ salary situation and how the unpredictable recovery timeline for Sandin could shift priorities. Every dollar counts as Washington’s quest for an elite right-shot defenseman intensifies—will the Capitals reshape their identity or run it back with familiar faces?
