A Dream
Your hand on mine as you kiss my forehead and say ‘goodbye’. You turn and begin to walk away. My heart starts to ache and tears bead down my cheeks as you vanish. Running to hold your hand in hopes I could keep you forever, but you were out of reach. Dropping to my knees screaming from the agony of this heartbreak. People pass by, not seeing the greatest loss of my life. As my world turns to a whirlwind of pain and suffering, crumbling all around, I see you. Far in the distance, you stand still, waiting, Running as fast as the wind would take me, my heart beating like drums in my ears, my feet colliding with the cold ground in a rhythmic beat. As I get closer your smile becomes more vibrant and I grab your hand. You hug me tight and say ‘I love you.’ I close my eyes and hug you tighter and tighter, cherishing this moment forever. I open my eyes and find myself alone in my room. A dream was all it was. A dream, the only time my Lola comes back.
