Elmo's Not Just a Muppet: Estonia's Remote Driving Solution

WEBVTT
00:00:00.700 --> 00:00:08.454
Welcome to another In Wheel Time podcast, a 30-minute mini version of the In Wheel Time Car Show that airs live every Saturday morning 8 to 11 am.
00:00:09.140 --> 00:00:09.721
Welcome to the avoid-winning.
00:00:09.740 --> 00:00:14.852
In Wheel Time Car Talk Show We've got the founder of a company that allows remote operation of vehicles.
00:00:14.852 --> 00:00:30.128
Kind of a scary thing, but got somebody you want to jack with and later Jeff will bring us some of his car culture rare colors of muscle cars, and Mr Mars has driving destinations.
00:00:30.128 --> 00:00:33.444
Howdy Along with Mike out of this world, mars.
00:00:33.444 --> 00:00:34.747
We always need more.
00:00:34.747 --> 00:00:36.713
Jeff Zekin, I'm Don Armstrong.
00:00:36.713 --> 00:00:39.689
Thanks so much for joining us for our live broadcast today.
00:00:39.689 --> 00:01:02.570
We've been dead at least once in this program for a few minutes with Nick Kappa and I apologize for that, but you know it never fails when we go on remote and we come back we've missed a plug, we didn't plug something in right, or somebody kicked something and got us off the air, which isn't the first time that's happened.
00:01:02.631 --> 00:01:03.673
We've got a new segment.
00:01:03.673 --> 00:01:05.084
Guess what goes wrong.
00:01:05.084 --> 00:01:07.503
Next, chime in.
00:01:07.563 --> 00:01:10.188
Let us know we won't be able to hear it, because we won't be on the air.
00:01:12.799 --> 00:01:17.585
Meteorites, locusts, I don't know, maybe snakes coming in a potato famine, who knows?
00:01:17.585 --> 00:01:19.909
So since Mr.
00:01:21.697 --> 00:01:23.787
He's having a little issue getting here, but we're working on it.
00:01:26.239 --> 00:01:28.647
Okay, so he's having a little issue getting here, but we're working on it, okay, so he's, he's working on trying.
00:01:28.668 --> 00:01:29.329
Okay, he's in the area, all right.
00:01:29.329 --> 00:01:33.284
Well, as long as they're working on it because I was going to break out the sold cars roundup, I'm gonna get.
00:01:33.284 --> 00:01:39.564
I'm gonna get this in, okay we're gonna do that you want to do that right now well, uh, let's give it a whirl try it.
00:01:39.564 --> 00:01:40.426
Give what a whirl.
00:01:40.426 --> 00:01:41.126
Give that a whirl.
00:01:41.126 --> 00:01:42.147
Okay, let's give it a whirl.
00:01:42.147 --> 00:01:44.131
So I got to find it.
00:01:44.191 --> 00:01:44.731
Hold on it's.
00:01:44.792 --> 00:01:47.695
Hemings Sold Cars Roundup.
00:01:47.695 --> 00:02:09.775
And the Sold Cars Roundup include cars that have been sold on Hemingscom, and I let the boys kind of guess at what the car got sold for Bringing it right up, and so the first one out of the box this morning is a 1959 Pontiac Star Chief.
00:02:10.140 --> 00:02:11.063
Oh man, look at that.
00:02:11.063 --> 00:02:12.008
How gorgeous that is.
00:02:12.600 --> 00:02:14.268
Big, wide whites, the whole nine yards.
00:02:14.268 --> 00:02:16.099
I mean this is direct from 1959.
00:02:16.099 --> 00:02:19.146
It looks completely stock and restored.
00:02:19.146 --> 00:02:20.431
I like it.
00:02:20.431 --> 00:02:24.510
How much do you think something like that monster would cost you?
00:02:24.879 --> 00:02:33.050
Well, if you bind it by the foot, yeah, yeah, because I don't would that even fit in today's garage?
00:02:33.050 --> 00:02:35.789
Probably not, but I'm going to go $39,000.
00:02:35.789 --> 00:02:37.336
I'm going for it $39,000.
00:02:37.355 --> 00:02:38.280
$39,000.
00:02:38.280 --> 00:02:39.625
Mr Mars, what do you think?
00:02:40.020 --> 00:02:42.042
I'm thinking more like $28,000.
00:02:42.062 --> 00:02:42.643
$28,000.
00:02:42.643 --> 00:02:47.968
Well, you're getting closer, okay, because that car sold for $22,365,000.
00:02:47.987 --> 00:02:50.031
Well, there you go, I would have overpaid?
00:02:50.951 --> 00:02:55.256
No, but what I'm saying is that that would have been something right up your alley.
00:02:55.256 --> 00:02:55.817
It is.
00:02:55.817 --> 00:03:01.473
You'd have to do a lot of rearranging the garage at your house.
00:03:01.473 --> 00:03:02.079
I'd have to take the door off.
00:03:02.079 --> 00:03:03.704
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
00:03:03.704 --> 00:03:09.000
Or only let the door come down just above the trunk, as it's sticking out.
00:03:09.039 --> 00:03:12.110
And on the other side of the wall is, you know, a family area.
00:03:12.110 --> 00:03:14.728
So I have to get rid of that, just for the car.
00:03:14.907 --> 00:03:15.931
Right, all right.
00:03:15.931 --> 00:03:17.286
Well, we're going to get back to that.
00:03:17.286 --> 00:03:20.968
Okay, we're going to get back to the Soul Cars Roundup, because we— Okay we got a guest.
00:03:25.800 --> 00:03:29.032
I think that we do have a guest okay uh, mr mars, you want to introduce the guest, or you want me to?
00:03:29.032 --> 00:03:30.337
Uh, I'll let you, because I'm making a change right here.
00:03:30.358 --> 00:03:31.763
Okay, he's making a change right here.
00:03:31.763 --> 00:03:32.664
I'm trying to.
00:03:32.745 --> 00:03:34.870
I got to get him to unmute what I'm trying to do.
00:03:34.870 --> 00:03:35.472
I see.
00:03:35.532 --> 00:03:37.080
So you need to unmute yourself.
00:03:37.080 --> 00:03:40.864
And there he is all right, okay, now I can.
00:03:41.024 --> 00:03:42.665
Uh, there we go, all right.
00:03:42.665 --> 00:04:03.969
So our guest this hour is Mr N Lansu, ceo and founder of Elmo Remote Driving a scary, scary thing for us here in Texas, and we're going to try to understand what you have come up with, because it's a thing called the Elmo remote car sharing.
00:04:03.969 --> 00:04:08.575
And when I said Elmo, I don't know what it actually stands for, if anything.
00:04:08.575 --> 00:04:28.661
But they all said, oh, we're going to talk to that blue cookie monster looking thing or whatever it is on Sesame Street called Elmo, and there's no offense intended here, but you know, there we just have small minds we have small minds that we're going to find out from you, and thank you so much for joining us.
00:04:28.961 --> 00:04:30.867
Where are we speaking to you from today?
00:04:32.591 --> 00:04:39.427
Hi guys En here and you have a live connection with Estonia.
00:04:39.427 --> 00:04:41.065
Estonia very good.
00:04:41.065 --> 00:04:48.192
Yes, if you have a small mind, then we are a small country, one of the smallest ones in Europe.
00:04:48.192 --> 00:04:53.050
And greetings for you at 7 pm.
00:04:54.841 --> 00:04:57.093
At 7 pm in Estonia.
00:04:57.175 --> 00:04:58.060
Welcome to our studio.
00:04:58.160 --> 00:05:00.088
Yeah, welcome to our hot studio here.
00:05:00.088 --> 00:05:02.704
It's going to be 95 degrees here in Texas today.
00:05:02.704 --> 00:05:10.314
It's going to be 95 degrees here in Texas today, but anyway, let's talk about the remote driving setup.
00:05:10.314 --> 00:05:16.461
Why?
00:05:16.701 --> 00:05:21.850
was this necessary to perfect this Good question and I think you are starting from the right beginning.
00:05:21.850 --> 00:05:24.074
Why remote driving?
00:05:24.074 --> 00:05:27.041
Why not autonomous?
00:05:27.041 --> 00:05:33.872
So this is one of the most popular questions, what we have the last five years heard.
00:05:33.872 --> 00:05:39.069
I think the answer is obvious.
00:05:39.069 --> 00:06:27.096
If we want to find the comparison with autonomous technology, then first of all, with all respect, we are great fans of autonomous technology, but the technology is not there yet and if you take those or put those aside, then we always recommend to our partners meaning clients, investors to think about where do you really need or where the autonomous technology makes sense in local transport, like buses, but during our lifetime.
00:06:27.096 --> 00:06:29.221
It doesn't make sense in car renting.
00:06:29.221 --> 00:06:43.870
It doesn't make sense, for example, in highway safety, where one of our trucks is operating in canada, or it doesn't make sense in your future in the defense sector and many other sectors.
00:06:43.870 --> 00:06:47.036
So it's much easier technology.
00:06:47.036 --> 00:06:58.285
It comes with a lower price tag and there are many use cases where remote driving is feasible and more reasonable than other technologies today.
00:06:58.579 --> 00:07:06.512
So we could sit in our home with a monitor and drive this vehicle down the freeway.
00:07:07.574 --> 00:07:07.975
Exactly.
00:07:07.975 --> 00:07:19.372
Wow, this is what, of course, you gave a very extreme example freeway high speeds but yes, that we have done already the last three years.
00:07:19.372 --> 00:07:22.603
We have been our core technology is road legal.
00:07:22.603 --> 00:07:33.315
We have been remote driving on public roads, in car renting renting a car and in many other sectors.
00:07:34.262 --> 00:08:09.154
Now I know that this is a very serious company and a very serious business, but all I can think of is that I could get a car and say is that I could get a car and say, mike, I've got a car for you to drive this week, without any knowledge that he is going to be under my command and I can take the controls from him, and I can drive that car as fast or as slow as I want to on the freeway and get him 90 miles from where we are today and he would go, he would be frightened to death, knowing that I was driving him in a car.
00:08:09.560 --> 00:08:10.766
I don't know if it works that way, Don.
00:08:10.879 --> 00:08:13.968
It probably doesn't work that way, but that's where my sick mind goes.
00:08:13.968 --> 00:08:27.473
All right, so give me an example of somebody that would use a vehicle that was remotely driven of somebody that would use a vehicle that was remotely driven.
00:08:33.559 --> 00:08:34.645
I think the practical experience is.
00:08:34.645 --> 00:08:51.384
Practical services where we are are the best examples Car rental If you rent a car today, you have to go and pick the car yourself, but with our technology the car is remotely controlled in into your doorstep.
00:08:51.384 --> 00:09:01.096
You still sit behind the steering wheel, you will make your ride, you will go to the beach, you will go to the forest, you don't want to rent it anymore.
00:09:01.096 --> 00:09:15.009
You will end the session and then our technology, or our service or our teletriver takes control over it and teletrives that to our next client's doorstep, that's pretty cool.
00:09:15.581 --> 00:09:18.222
It's very cool what I envision.
00:09:18.222 --> 00:09:26.647
This would be a perfect technology for the military, so you wouldn't risk a life, but I could get you know ammunition.
00:09:26.647 --> 00:09:35.083
I could get bombs from point A to point B without a human being driving it, except he would be could be thousands of miles away.
00:09:35.083 --> 00:09:36.349
He could be on the other side of the Earth.
00:09:37.880 --> 00:09:42.288
This is, by the way, also what we are doing or what our technology is already doing.
00:09:42.288 --> 00:09:55.450
Cannot share a lot about that use case, but I can say you that we are also war-proven and actively used in some of the hot zones.
00:09:56.221 --> 00:10:17.126
I see another way that this could be done in an industry of, say, like mining or forestry, where you've got a mine and you have these big trucks that you know, hundreds of thousands of capacity for dirt and things doing that, doing it remotely, to go through the mines and down into the structures, to not have that human interaction but be safer that way.
00:10:17.126 --> 00:10:17.909
That's what I see it.
00:10:18.620 --> 00:10:24.583
Let me ask you this Speaking of human interaction, are there actual live drivers driving it remotely?
00:10:24.583 --> 00:10:26.486
Yes, yes.
00:10:27.604 --> 00:10:28.509
I want that job.
00:10:28.509 --> 00:10:35.955
I think that's the core difference with other technologies.
00:10:35.955 --> 00:11:01.134
There is always a driver, hazard situations and in mining or we talked about in military, that is already used.
00:11:01.134 --> 00:11:08.003
But I would like to also give one of the examples.
00:11:08.003 --> 00:11:14.758
We are right now also in operations in taxi remote controlled taxi.
00:11:14.758 --> 00:11:17.653
So first, it doesn't make sense why.
00:11:17.653 --> 00:11:36.649
But imagine, or probably you know, that the weakest point in taxi sector is you lack motivated and reasonable drivers drivers.
00:11:36.649 --> 00:11:46.850
But if you can do driving from a very far distance, then you basically have an unlimited number of potential drivers who can be your workers, customers, drivers of the taxi.
00:11:46.850 --> 00:11:52.881
And in addition to that you can play with salary arbitrage.
00:11:52.881 --> 00:11:57.772
You're right now in the States.
00:11:57.772 --> 00:12:06.085
Probably the salary in one of your neighbor countries is a little bit lower, so that's also what we are doing right now.
00:12:07.389 --> 00:12:08.413
Interesting.
00:12:08.413 --> 00:12:11.200
I'm kind of fascinated by it.
00:12:11.220 --> 00:12:14.298
Well, I am too my mind is going about a thousand miles an hour.
00:12:14.831 --> 00:12:16.035
The applications you could use for it?
00:12:16.056 --> 00:12:16.798
yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:12:16.798 --> 00:12:23.158
So there's a remote driver and in the case of the example, you were talking about renting a car.
00:12:23.158 --> 00:12:26.499
So the remote driver is involved to get the car to you.
00:12:26.499 --> 00:12:33.038
He steps out of the way you drive it until you're through with it, right, and then you give it back and he picks it up again, takes over and to return it.
00:12:33.038 --> 00:12:46.264
So is that kind of so with the and I guess with the taxi, then the driver's there all the time exactly so you could actually run that taxi 24 hours a day what about fueling uh?
00:12:46.344 --> 00:12:51.894
so the mike rents the car, he turns it in and the remote uh driver picks up that vehicle.
00:12:51.894 --> 00:12:53.636
How do they know?
00:12:53.636 --> 00:12:57.000
Is there technology built in Now my car?
00:12:57.000 --> 00:13:02.366
I can look at an app and say when's the next oil change, the oil levels, the gas, all that tire pressures.
00:13:02.366 --> 00:13:07.595
Is that part of the technology that the remote driver has.
00:13:07.615 --> 00:13:11.124
Yes, we are even controlling rear window heating.
00:13:11.124 --> 00:13:13.616
Oh wow, yes, we have all the system.
00:13:13.616 --> 00:13:21.379
What the driver needs, he or she can see that on the remote driver's desk.
00:13:21.379 --> 00:13:26.235
So, yes, that information is available, but I think it's more.
00:13:26.235 --> 00:13:36.921
What you just wanted to clarify is if the tank or the it's running out of gasoline, so who's going to fill it up?
00:13:36.921 --> 00:13:53.178
That, I think, is maybe the weakest point, but luckily in some countries like the US, if the car is teledriven into the gas station, then in many gas stations there's someone who's going to do the job.
00:13:55.196 --> 00:13:55.977
The old full service?
00:13:55.977 --> 00:13:56.580
Yeah, exactly.
00:13:58.413 --> 00:14:04.809
Either that, or if you had a fleet of these things, you would probably have your own fueling station.
00:14:04.809 --> 00:14:17.720
For instance, if it were a rent car at the airport let's say the airport place that you've kept these vehicles it would have its own fueling station, so when it came back it would have a place to get gas.
00:14:18.330 --> 00:14:21.801
So we're saying that these are we're talking like gasoline motors.
00:14:21.801 --> 00:14:24.658
Are these electric vehicles or gasoline motors?
00:14:25.991 --> 00:14:26.916
For us it doesn't matter.
00:14:26.916 --> 00:14:30.078
We are vehicle agnostic.
00:14:30.078 --> 00:14:37.513
We have retrofitted our technology to both of the cars gasoline, electric ones.
00:14:37.513 --> 00:14:44.731
So for us, the only thing what we try to avoid is manual gearbox, because then we need a robot hand.
00:14:44.731 --> 00:14:54.836
But all other things to control the car we are capable of retrofitting, but now we are just focusing on the gasoline.
00:14:54.836 --> 00:14:56.695
This is how to solve it.
00:14:56.695 --> 00:14:57.938
It's not a technical question.
00:14:57.999 --> 00:14:58.961
Yeah, I got a question.
00:14:58.961 --> 00:15:01.999
Yeah, a question came in from one of our Internet viewers.
00:15:01.999 --> 00:15:11.835
So, for example, a senior not to look at Don much, but a senior that's at home, they don't have a car, but they need to go to the doctor.
00:15:11.835 --> 00:15:16.889
That's at home, they don't have a car, but they need to go to the doctor.
00:15:16.889 --> 00:15:17.330
Is that kind of like?
00:15:17.330 --> 00:15:22.013
Can they get a remote?
00:15:22.033 --> 00:15:25.017
car to come to them and get them, take them to the doctor and then bring them home.
00:15:25.017 --> 00:15:25.297
Yes, of course.
00:15:25.297 --> 00:15:25.857
Of course there is.
00:15:25.857 --> 00:15:32.836
If we just focus on the service, then technology is just making something with the service.
00:15:32.836 --> 00:15:39.293
But yes, yes, if we need to take the senior to the hospital, it's doable.
00:15:39.293 --> 00:15:49.335
But I will a little bit also play it around if there is a human with their wheelchair, then they can also be teledriver.
00:15:49.335 --> 00:15:54.864
That's also another positive side of our technology.
00:15:54.864 --> 00:16:00.129
So, yes, transporting a senior to the hospital, this is a no-brainer.
00:16:00.490 --> 00:16:01.052
I understand.
00:16:01.494 --> 00:16:03.480
I'm sorry, I was going to say how much are these?
00:16:03.480 --> 00:16:07.561
What does it cost to be involved in this, either for the driver or to own one?
00:16:09.711 --> 00:16:23.224
I'm confident that you have a lot of our potential clients, your listeners, so roughly, the thumb rule is that it is in the range of 10% of the car's value.
00:16:23.224 --> 00:16:33.580
So if the car is, let's say, $40,000, then we are retrofitting the car in the range of 4,000 euros, $4,000.
00:16:33.710 --> 00:16:35.056
Yes, but so affordable?
00:16:35.056 --> 00:16:45.964
I wanted to ask you one other thing, and I noticed in this bio here that it's already in use and road legal and operating in your country of Estonia.
00:16:47.171 --> 00:16:48.998
Exactly, we are road legal.
00:16:48.998 --> 00:16:50.432
We are also.
00:16:50.432 --> 00:16:59.094
Elmo is the first company in the world whose road legal technology is already inactively used.
00:16:59.094 --> 00:17:02.557
It's used since 2022.
00:17:02.557 --> 00:17:07.058
So we have three years of experience from car sharing.
00:17:07.058 --> 00:17:11.239
We have experience from road safety sector.
00:17:11.239 --> 00:17:23.003
We have experienced clients from the safety sector, we have experienced clients from defense sector and now also we are in operations providing our technology and service for one taxi company.
00:17:23.309 --> 00:17:25.252
Wow, absolutely, stunningly.
00:17:25.252 --> 00:17:27.395
Yeah, it's brilliant.
00:17:27.395 --> 00:17:30.701
And so for our listeners, our viewers, listeners, our viewers.
00:17:30.701 --> 00:17:32.684
Elmoremotecom.
00:17:36.596 --> 00:17:38.021
We can find out all about this Exactly.
00:17:43.192 --> 00:17:44.458
And for our female viewers.
00:17:44.458 --> 00:17:45.923
They can write love letters to Anne.
00:17:47.453 --> 00:17:48.457
Whereabouts in.
00:17:48.517 --> 00:17:50.986
Estonia, are you Capital, tallinn?
00:17:50.986 --> 00:17:53.038
Oh, so you're across the water from Helsinki?
00:17:53.058 --> 00:17:53.382
Yes, oh, very good.
00:17:53.382 --> 00:17:53.968
More the water from Helsinki?
00:17:53.968 --> 00:17:56.256
Yes, exactly, modern.
00:17:56.256 --> 00:17:57.138
Welcome to visit us.
00:17:57.138 --> 00:17:59.876
We are a tech-savvy country.

00:19:45.125 --> 00:19:49.026

00:20:20.673 --> 00:20:23.317
And thank you for being with us today.
00:20:23.317 --> 00:20:25.943
Time now for Jeff's Car Culture Rare muscle car colors.
00:20:26.125 --> 00:20:27.227
You betcha.
00:20:27.227 --> 00:20:28.440
And here we go.
00:20:28.440 --> 00:20:31.121
First one out of the box.
00:20:31.121 --> 00:20:32.721
Now, we've all seen these colors.
00:20:32.721 --> 00:20:34.843
You don't know what codes they are, but here we go.
00:20:34.843 --> 00:20:37.682
1970, plymouth Duster.
00:20:37.682 --> 00:20:43.684
We call this the Pink Panther, the 1970 Plymouth Duster and factory Pink Panther.
00:20:43.684 --> 00:20:45.894
Pink code FM3.
00:20:46.015 --> 00:20:47.842
Hey everybody, look at my car.
00:20:48.714 --> 00:20:53.705
Wondering what the code is Is one of the rarest, most eye-catching combinations to leave a Chrysler plant.
00:20:53.705 --> 00:21:02.028
While the Duster was designated as affordable, compact muscle car, ordering it in Pink Panther turned into a bold statement piece.
00:21:02.028 --> 00:21:09.384
The color was part of Mopar's high-impact paint lineup and officially only offered it for the short time in 1970.
00:21:09.384 --> 00:21:15.920
The next one on the block is a 70 Plymouth Cuda who figured In violet code FC7.
00:21:15.920 --> 00:21:20.422
Now in violet, also known as what Plum Crazy over a Dodge.
00:21:20.422 --> 00:21:25.516
It was one of Chrysler's high-impact colors but surprisingly, a few buyers ordered it in 70 Cuda.
00:21:25.516 --> 00:21:33.367
Most stuck with the Hemi Orange or Limelight, which was the green color, leaving the purple bruiser only to be the only one that's bold.
00:21:33.367 --> 00:21:35.190
I think that John Hovis got one.
00:21:36.255 --> 00:21:36.675
I believe so he does.
00:21:36.675 --> 00:21:43.577
When paired with a 426 Hemi or even a high-compression 440 in violet gave the Cuda an unmistakable presence.
00:21:43.577 --> 00:21:44.858
That is a pretty car.
00:21:44.858 --> 00:21:45.640
I'd drive it.
00:21:46.099 --> 00:21:52.445
Next one 70, chevelle SS in Tuxedo Black, which is paint code 10.
00:21:52.445 --> 00:21:57.991
Tuxedo Black sounds common but it's rarely chosen in 70, especially on the SS Chevelle.
00:21:57.991 --> 00:22:08.779
Gm's bright hues like Cranberry Red and Phantom Blue dominated the dealer lots, while fewer than one percent of the ss buyers opted for the deep formal black.
00:22:08.779 --> 00:22:17.924
When paired with an ls6 454 in a cowl induction hood, a black on black chevy ss became a menacing presence.
00:22:17.924 --> 00:22:20.816
It didn't need stripes or flare to make it a paint.
00:22:20.816 --> 00:22:21.877
There you go.
00:22:21.877 --> 00:22:27.888
Next one 69 dodgeger in R4 bright red with a white top.
00:22:27.888 --> 00:22:38.270
Bright red code R4 wasn't rare on its own, but paired with a white vinyl top and white interior you got a surprisingly uncommon setup for 69.
00:22:38.270 --> 00:22:43.186
Most buyers went with black or tan contrast instead of the high contrast combo.
00:22:43.186 --> 00:22:50.263
Add a 440 Magnum or a Hemi into the equation and you've got a charger that's hard to miss.
00:22:51.454 --> 00:22:54.424
Next one Michael is a 1970 AMX.
00:22:54.424 --> 00:22:58.820
Big Bad Green is what they called this Paint code 00.
00:22:58.820 --> 00:23:07.044
Amc's Big Bad color lineup was in-your-face marketing moved on and a Big Bad Green was by far the boldest.
00:23:07.044 --> 00:23:16.846
Available in special order only this radioactive shade was rarely selected by AMX buyers, with fewer than 100 cars believed to have actually left the factory in this color.
00:23:16.846 --> 00:23:27.025
The AMX, with its two-seat layout a 390 V8, already stood apart from the pack Painted Big Bad Green, it became a statement car in every sense of the word.
00:23:27.025 --> 00:23:27.968
That's nice.
00:23:29.296 --> 00:23:34.748
Another favorite of mine is a 66 Fairlane GT, ember Glow, code V.
00:23:34.748 --> 00:23:44.664
Ford's Ember Glow was one of those mid-60 colors that defines sort of like a description part copper, part bronze, part burnt orange.
00:23:44.664 --> 00:23:50.884
It was available on the 66 Fairlane GT, rarely seen on high-performance versions like the GT 390.
00:23:50.884 --> 00:24:04.201
With its 335 horsepower V8, bucket seats and optional GTA automatic, the Fairlane GT had solid muscle car cred, but painted in ember glow it looked like a concept car that slipped through the production line.
00:24:04.201 --> 00:24:11.362
And the last one is my favorite 70 Pontiac GTO in what Orbit Orange, code 5.
00:24:11.682 --> 00:24:12.846
Looks yellow 05.
00:24:12.846 --> 00:24:17.186
Orbit Orange is hard to miss and that's exactly why so few buyers chose it.
00:24:17.186 --> 00:24:24.361
Available in 70, only the screaming high-letter shade was meant to grab attention, and it did Just not in big numbers.
00:24:24.361 --> 00:24:32.361
Combine the Orange Orbit with the Judge package and the Ram Air all that good stuff and you've got one of the loudest, fastest and rarest Pontiacs ever built.
00:24:32.361 --> 00:24:36.546
It was too much for most buyers, but 1970, who cares?
00:24:36.546 --> 00:24:38.336
Collectors are lining up for them today.
00:24:38.336 --> 00:24:39.759
How about that?
00:24:39.759 --> 00:24:40.799
Very nice, yeah, good stuff, well done.
00:24:40.799 --> 00:24:41.300
All right, thank you, sir.
00:24:41.300 --> 00:24:41.621
Well done.
00:24:42.201 --> 00:24:43.042
All right, thank you, sir.
00:24:43.042 --> 00:24:46.666
Mr Mars has driving destinations this week.
00:24:46.666 --> 00:24:49.750
Cool places to cool off for this summer.
00:24:50.974 --> 00:24:54.967
Go for it, and on a day like today I would really like to go to one of these places.
00:24:54.967 --> 00:25:00.548
So one of the things you can look at, particularly up and around the hill country, barton Springs Pool.
00:25:00.548 --> 00:25:06.387
Now, this is talking about places that you can actually go swimming different pools around the state of Texas.
00:25:06.387 --> 00:25:09.825
So Barton Springs is located in Zilker Park in Austin.
00:25:09.825 --> 00:25:11.862
It's a three-acre natural pool.
00:25:11.862 --> 00:25:19.681
It's fed by underground springs, stays 68 to 71 year-round, which makes it great for summer and you can actually go in the winter.
00:25:19.681 --> 00:25:21.643
It actually will feel warm at certain times.
00:25:21.643 --> 00:25:28.883
So the setting is scenic and serene, but it fills up fast on weekends, so you've got to arrive a little early if you're going to go there.
00:25:29.483 --> 00:25:32.398
The other one that you can find up there is the Deep Eddy Pool.
00:25:32.398 --> 00:25:35.445
Now, this is Texas' oldest man-made swimming pool.
00:25:35.445 --> 00:25:40.345
The Deep Eddy is also spring-fed and it's known for its clear, cool water and its relaxing ambience.
00:25:40.345 --> 00:25:47.308
Now, this is near downtown Austin, so it's got swimming lanes, it's got shallow in for kids, grassy areas for lounging.
00:25:47.308 --> 00:25:54.944
It was built in 1915, and it carries a nostalgic charm and attracts a quieter crowd than its neighbor over in Barton Springs.
00:25:54.944 --> 00:25:59.585
Oh boy, from there we go over to Wimberley, where we're going to find the Blue Hole.
00:26:00.115 --> 00:26:00.234
Now.
00:26:00.234 --> 00:26:05.298
The Blue Hole is a pristine swimming pool nested amongst towering cypress trees in Wimberley.
00:26:05.298 --> 00:26:15.743
It's got emerald-colored waters, iconic rope swings, the Swimming Hole is spring-fed and maintaining a cool 75-degree temperature.
00:26:15.743 --> 00:26:21.547
Now it's surrounded by parks, hiking trails, picnic lanes and it's got lots of courts.
00:26:21.547 --> 00:26:28.131
Got to make some advance reservations for this, because they limit it to 900 people a day is all that can get in there.
00:26:28.131 --> 00:26:28.911
Geez, wow.
00:26:28.911 --> 00:26:30.031
Now you go over to.
00:26:30.031 --> 00:26:32.992
From there you go over to Hamilton Pool Preserve.
00:26:32.992 --> 00:26:35.135
Now this is in Dripping Springs.
00:26:35.135 --> 00:26:43.990
Now it's a geological wonder because it features a collapsed grotto with a 50-foot waterfall that goes into a jade-colored pool.
00:26:43.990 --> 00:26:45.840
This is in Travis County.
00:26:45.840 --> 00:26:53.480
Sometimes, because of bacteria levels, swimmers aren't allowed in, but it's still worth a visit.
00:26:54.555 --> 00:26:59.300
Martha, I got this kind of odor to me and I don't know exactly where it's coming from.
00:26:59.300 --> 00:27:00.905
You've been in that pool again, yeah, yeah.
00:27:01.035 --> 00:27:07.257
And then, if you're looking for something more park-like, Schlitterbahn over in New Braunfels, now this is the water park experience.
00:27:07.257 --> 00:27:10.838
It's consistently ranked among the best in the world.
00:27:10.838 --> 00:27:17.563
Located in New Bronzeville along the Comal River Comal it spans over 70 acres.
00:27:17.563 --> 00:27:20.505
It's got slides, it's got lazy rivers, kids areas.
00:27:20.525 --> 00:27:21.305
Have you ever been there?
00:27:21.865 --> 00:27:24.807
Been there once, but I was not in the water at the time?
00:27:24.826 --> 00:27:26.048
Did you ever go tubing down the Comal?
00:27:26.367 --> 00:27:26.788
Yes, I did.
00:27:26.788 --> 00:27:35.032
Yep, I liked that, but Slitterbond, I was there on a business trip, so I didn't actually get to participate in any of the activities that were there.
00:27:35.053 --> 00:27:36.113
Well, that's too bad yeah.
00:27:36.434 --> 00:27:39.085
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought, but it didn't happen.
00:27:39.085 --> 00:27:47.198
They've got lodging.
00:27:47.198 --> 00:27:47.619
It's got log cabins.
00:27:47.619 --> 00:27:48.143
It's a really nice place.
00:27:48.143 --> 00:27:49.107
They have another one down in Galveston.
00:27:49.107 --> 00:27:52.319
If you're looking for something down in there, then from there, crouse Springs.
00:27:52.500 --> 00:27:53.698
This is in Spicewood.
00:27:53.698 --> 00:27:57.348
This is a family owned operation.
00:27:57.348 --> 00:28:02.663
It's got 32 natural springs feeding into man-made and natural pools.
00:28:02.663 --> 00:28:04.659
It's a retreat Again.
00:28:04.659 --> 00:28:05.723
It's one of the spring waters.
00:28:05.723 --> 00:28:08.585
It stays around 68 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.
00:28:08.585 --> 00:28:11.644
It's got tent and RV camping.
00:28:11.644 --> 00:28:20.705
And then if you're looking for something that's a little further west Texas, then Balmora State Park.
00:28:20.705 --> 00:28:33.535
Now, this is way out in west Texas and I think there's a map going to come up here and it's the largest spring-fed swimming pool in the state and it's located in the desert and it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
00:28:33.535 --> 00:28:37.006
The 1.75-acre pool is fed by springs.
00:28:37.006 --> 00:28:40.065
It holds 3.5 million gallons of water.
00:28:40.065 --> 00:28:44.557
Now, keep in mind that's a lot of water that ranges in temperatures from 72 to 76.
00:28:44.557 --> 00:28:47.859
Keep in mind, that's a lot of water that ranges in temperatures from 72 to 76.
00:28:47.859 --> 00:28:50.801
But 15 million gallons of water go through that place a day.
00:28:50.801 --> 00:28:53.703
There's a lot of water going through there in the water flow.
00:28:53.703 --> 00:28:57.047
So there's some cool places that you can go and cool off during the summer.
00:28:57.586 --> 00:28:58.027
Thank you, sir.
00:28:58.027 --> 00:29:01.229
