Lord, I thank you and I praise you for this day, for your goodness, for your mercy and your grace. Lord, your word tells us that your thoughts are not our thoughts. and your ways are not our ways. So, Father, we will stop trying to figure you out. We'll just surrender and say yes, because we know that if we stay close to you, we'll be all right.
00:01:40
Speaker 1: If we stay at your feet, giving you glory, we'll be all right.
00:01:43
Speaker 6: If we let you speak loud and clear, and not our desire to control things, because we can't control things, because, Father.
00:01:48
Speaker 5: You are in control.
00:01:50
Speaker 6: We surrender and say yes to you. Thank you, Lord, for what you've given us. We'll use the tools that you've given us to walk in purpose, to walk in purpose and give you glory for all of it.
00:02:00
Speaker 1: In Jesus' name I pray. Thank God.
00:02:01

00:02:30
Speaker 9: Florida Democratic Senate nominee Andy Nixon is calling on the National Party leadership to increase investments in Southern races and stop taking black voters for granted as a guaranteed constituency. Nixon expressed frustration among grassroots organizers and community members who feel the political establishment often seeks black labor without supporting black leadership. Democratic nominee Everett West is mounting an uphill campaign for the U.S. Senate representing the state of Alabama, seeking to become the state's first Democrat elected to the upper chamber in a general election in over three decades. Facing Republican nominee Barry Moore, Mr. West contends with significant fundraising disparities and limited national party investment in a reliably conservative state. Federal consumer protection regulators alongside 20 states filed a joint lawsuit against Dollar General, alleging the long-running deceptive pricing practices at stores nationwide. The complaint states, that the discount chain routinely charged shoppers higher amounts at checkout registers than the prices displayed on shelves and in the promotional ads. Officials emphasize that failing to correct these known pricing discrepancies causes significant financial harm to working class families and low income communities trying to make every dollar and cent count. From the good news file, a viral video sparked widespread public support for three-year-old Nevada after local police were summoned to a Florida youth soccer game where the toddler was dominating play and scoring repeatedly. The organization subsequently removed the child from the league and issued a refund to his parents, sparking a national conversation around youth athletic policies.

00:05:02
Speaker 1: Right now. Amen. The Faith Walk.
00:05:05
Speaker 2: Or Get Up Mornings.
00:05:07
Speaker 1: Yes, it is time for the faith walk of the day.
00:05:09
Speaker 5: And today I want to talk about.
00:05:11
Speaker 6: How we always mention the sacrifice of praise. But what does that mean, giving the sacrifice of praise? It's easy to thank God when prayers are answered, relationships are flourishing or unexpected blessings arrive. But what about the days when life feels heavy, when grief lingers and prayers seem unanswered and you're simply exhausted? The Bible speaks directly into those moments in Hebrews 13, 15.
00:05:34
Speaker 1: He invites us through Jesus.
00:05:36
Speaker 6: Therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. It's it's letting you know that it is a sacrifice because it is difficult.
00:05:50
Speaker 1: It is a sacrifice.
00:05:51
Speaker 6: But still, we are called and challenged to open up our mouths and give God praise.
00:05:56
Speaker 1: I think this.
00:05:56
Speaker 6: Challenges those quiet churches where they praise him by simply sitting in in solitude. You know, there are times where it says meditate. But this scripture tells us the fruit of your lips. That means open your mouth and give him a praise. And I know I just I know and understand the power of my praise and how it pushes back. the darkness so even if I'm having a difficult time if I decide and I tell my body and my mind and my soul we will praise God I believe that the presence and power of darkness has to go because it cannot stay in the presence of God and when I'm calling on the name of Jesus and lifting up the name of Jesus and glorifying the name of Jesus. So I don't know where you are and what you're going through, but I challenge you to offer the sacrifice of praise this morning and watch God show up in your life and watch you feel different and watch the situation shifts in your life as you offer God praise in spite of what you're going through, in spite of the circumstance and watch God respond to your praise. His word says he will. And I believe that he will for me and for you, too. So offer the sacrifice of praise whenever you feel the enemy creeping up your back and you feel overwhelmed and you feel sadness and depression, trying to linger too long and trying to sit in your chest. Just lift up your hands and say, God, I thank you anyway. God, I praise you anyway. God, I glorify you anyway. I still believe that you are God and you are good no matter what my circumstance says. I'll praise the Lord at all times.
00:07:19
Speaker 7: All right.
00:07:20
Speaker 1: I love you and I mean it, y'all. That's the faith walk of the day.
00:07:23
Speaker 6: Give them the sacrifice of praise.
00:07:24
Speaker 1: Now it's birthday shout-out time.

00:12:31
Speaker 1: Good morning, everybody. It's Get Up Mornings.
00:12:33
Speaker 6: I'm Erica Campbell, loving Jesus and loving you on this wonderful Wednesday, October the 28th. And yes, we are up having a great day. You got to speak life over your day. You got to declare what kind of day it's going to be. And you don't have to use your own words. You can use the word of the Lord. The joy of the Lord is my strength.
00:12:49
Speaker 1: Say that.
00:12:49
Speaker 6: I'm more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ that loves us. Speak life over your life all morning long. All right, guys, coming up this hour, Mr. Griffin, Sirius Griff, then Erica Isom, and then we'll cap things off with the joys and concerns. Great music on the way. Let's see this hour. We've got Mary Mary, CeCe Winans, and Corinne Hawthorne. Here's Pastor Mike Jr. with Suddenly on Get Up Mornings.
00:13:11
Speaker 2: It's time for Mr. Griffin, Sirius Griff.
00:13:14
Speaker 7: Are you serious?
00:13:15
Speaker 1: Come on. It's real.
00:13:16
Speaker 3: Mr.
00:13:17
Speaker 2: Griffin on Get Up Mornings.
00:13:19
Speaker 5: All right, Mr.
00:13:19
Speaker 1: Griffin, it's on you, sir.
00:13:21
Speaker 8: Thanks, E.
00:13:22
Speaker 7: Man, y'all, it was a verse, a scripture is what I'm supposed to say. It was a scripture. I couldn't stop thinking about it the other day. Nehemiah 8 and 10 says the joy of the Lord is your strength. But just peep how it doesn't say your strength comes from your money, what you do for a living, how many followers you have, or even your health. It says your strength comes from joy. And that's why the enemy spends so much time trying to steal it, trying to.
00:13:55
Speaker 1: Steal your joy. Because if he can steal your joy.
00:13:58
Speaker 7: He makes your strength weak. He weakens your strength. But this is what God reminded me. When I get my joy back, I get my strength back. Maybe life has been, and you know we love this phrase, but maybe life has been life for you, okay? Maybe you've been disappointed for a long time. A gang of people walked away from you that you knew that was supposed to be there.
00:14:26
Speaker 1: Prayers haven't been answered yet.
00:14:28
Speaker 7: You still can't find a husband or a husband can't find you and you don't have a wife.
00:14:33
Speaker 1: But don't just ask God for another blessing.
00:14:36
Speaker 7: And I know you is no such thing as wasted prayers. But I think I say to myself, I already said that prayer, Lord, I.
00:14:46
Speaker 1: Don't want to waste. You heard it already. But he he wants you ask him to restore your joy. Ask them to make you happy again.
00:14:54
Speaker 7: Let you get your joy back because when your joy returns, what else comes?
00:15:00
Speaker 1: Your hope. Your hope returns. Peace.
00:15:03
Speaker 7: Peace returns. Your confidence returns. And then all of a sudden you have this strength to keep going on like one more day. You know you can make it. So I'm asking everybody today. refuse to let people rent space in your heart for free.
00:15:21
Speaker 1: Protect your joy.
00:15:23
Speaker 5: That's good.
00:15:24
Speaker 7: Because when you get your joy back, you get your strength back and you got to stay strong.
00:15:29
Speaker 1: You got to be man.
00:15:30
Speaker 7: We, it was a song that said we soldiers in the army for the Lord.
00:15:34
Speaker 1: Like you got it with no strength. You ain't helping nobody.
00:15:37
Speaker 16: Come on.
00:15:38
Speaker 1: No joy. You're not helping nobody.
00:15:40
Speaker 7: So when you get your joy back, you get your strength back. And my prayer for all y'all today is, is to get your joy back.
00:15:46
Speaker 1: That's my Mr. Griffith. I love that.
00:15:50
Speaker 6: Listen, it's the reason me and Tina put your faith ain't never small. Your strength ain't never small. Like you got to have strength if you're going to make it through. And the joy of the Lord.
00:15:59
Speaker 1: Is your strength.
00:15:59
Speaker 5: Is your strength.
00:16:00
Speaker 1: Connected to your hope. I believe that's what I'm fighting for. I'm trusting.
00:16:05
Speaker 5: I've got expectation.
00:16:06
Speaker 1: But if you don't have no joy, no hope. You ain't going to have much strength.
00:16:10
Speaker 2: Right.
00:16:10
Speaker 5: Come on, grab, preach it up this thing. Don't let nobody steal your joy.
00:16:15
Speaker 1: Listen.
00:16:15
Speaker 6: There are joy thieves.
00:16:18
Speaker 1: There's joy thieves out here.
00:16:20
Speaker 6: Get my joy back. I was happy before I got on the phone with you.
00:16:24
Speaker 1: Goodbye.
00:16:24
Speaker 3: Right.
00:16:25
Speaker 5: All right, y'all, stick around.
00:16:27
Speaker 1: There's more on the way. It's Get Up Morning.
00:16:29
Speaker 3: Get up. Get up.
00:16:29
Speaker 1: I got a lot to do. I'm 24. I don't know what's going on.
00:16:38
Speaker 2: You're listening to Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell. Real talk. Real talk. The Erica-ism of the day.
00:16:45
Speaker 1: On Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell. You know, I am so grateful for being covered, covered in prayer.
00:16:51
Speaker 6: There are people who text my phone and send long prayers. There are, you know, older people who I love who send different memes and scriptures and things like that. And it is easy to get busy in life and go, oh, yes, someone sent me a prayer this morning and keep going. But yesterday I took a moment and I was scrolling through the prayers of someone that sends them to me frequently. And usually I'll just heart the message because you can tell it's kind of on autopilot. They send it to everybody. It's a, you know, you can tell, right?
00:17:21
Speaker 1: It's not hello, Erica.
00:17:22
Speaker 5: It's just a message that's sent to everybody.
00:17:24
Speaker 6: But I just thought I'd take a moment and say thank you for that because I do not take prayer lightly. I believe and know that so much of who I am is because of the prayers. Everything I am is because of of the prayers of the righteous prayers for my parents and things that have been spoken of my life. So I'm always very grateful for prayer. I don't take it lightly when somebody say, Oh, I'm praying for you. You know, there are those cynical people who say, well, did you really pray? And what'd you say? Or did you just say, I don't, I don't care if you just said, God bless her. I believe heaven hears that. And I believe heaven responds to that. My job is to make sure that my life and my heart and my posture is pleasing unto God.
00:18:01
Speaker 1: And so, I'm just grateful for those prayers.
00:18:04
Speaker 6: That have carried me and brought me different places. And sometimes, y'all, and this is no lie, I feel like people are praying for me. Sometimes I feel protected. I'm driving or moving through life. It can be airports, concerts. Sometimes I feel the prayers of the saints around me and for me.
00:18:23
Speaker 1: And it is a beautiful, wonderful feeling.
00:18:26
Speaker 6: And I often pray that my heart and my mind are aware and alert so I can appreciate God. You know, the enemy wants us to keep wants to keep us distracted. That's one of his favorite things to do. Confusion, distraction, questioning God's goodness, questioning if he said what he said, if it's even real. So you can be surrounded by all of that and still miss it because your mind and heart is somewhere else. I pray that your eyes are open today, that your heart is open, that you recognize the love of God in your life, that you recognize that people love you and have been praying for you and rooting for you. Now, listen, everybody's family and church is not the same. It may not come from the person that you think it should come from. But sometimes it's a coworker that's praying for you. You just didn't know it. It's a school, a schoolmate that's praying for you. You just didn't know it. And so I want you to say today, thank God for those that.
00:19:18
Speaker 1: Prayed for me.
00:19:19
Speaker 6: That when we say we love you to me, I really mean it. I don't know your name, but I'm praying over people's families. I want your marriage to be well. I want you to be healthy in your body. I want you to walk in your purpose. I don't want the enemy to trick you and deceive you. I want you to have the finances that you need. I want you to hear when God speaks strategy and answers to your life. I want you to be bold enough to do the work that it takes to get it done. God gives us so many things, but we've got to do the work. And sometimes that's where the error is. We're not doing the work. And so we can't feel the benefit of all that God has for us. So I thank God for the prayers of the righteous. And I want you to be grateful and just think about it. Father, who's praying for me today?
00:19:58
Speaker 1: You'll be surprised what pops up in your spirit.
00:20:00
Speaker 6: You'll be surprised the names that you just automatically think of when you ask that question. I love how God works. I love how the Holy Spirit works. But you got to be attentive enough to hear and recognize it. Don't you let the troubles and issues of life keep you so down that you can't recognize.
00:20:15
Speaker 1: How blessed you are, how blessed you are. Yes, you are blessed. And I'm speaking that over your life. May you be blessed the rest of this day. May you feel it. May you experience it.
00:20:25
Speaker 6: May you experience more joy than you have before because you are blessed, blessed by the.
00:20:29
Speaker 1: Hand of the Lord.
00:20:31
Speaker 6: That is my Erica is I love you and I mean it. All right, guys, Chris got the joys and concerns up next. And we got more great gospel music just for you.

00:20:53
Speaker 8: Amen.
00:20:54
Speaker 2: It's time for Joys and Concerns on Get Up Morning.
00:20:57
Speaker 6: Well, saints of the Most High God, we are coming to you live from the Get Up Church of our Lord, Baptocostal Non-Denominational, Denominational, A-M-E-C-M-E-E-N-G-L-M-N-O-P, at Apostolic Church of God in Royce.
00:21:10
Speaker 1: All right, now, Brother Griff, let the Lord hear you. Thank you, Bird Lady Pastor. You're welcome. I got to thank you for the melody. You're welcome, too. People walk.
00:21:21
Speaker 7: When I say thank you, I know if they listen to the show, how they reply.
00:21:24
Speaker 1: You're welcome. Always know. I got to shout out my homeboy, Luciani.
00:21:30
Speaker 7: Luciani from the Harbor Bay Marriott. I don't want them to give you a star or give him some money. Give Luciani a raise. But first, give an honor to God who's the head of my life.
00:21:48
Speaker 1: I like to say I'm glad to be in the house of the Lord. One more time, Elder Sherrill.
00:21:55
Speaker 7: He brought me from a mighty, mighty long way.
00:21:58
Speaker 1: Luciani, I could have been dead, sleeping in the grave. But God is good all the time.
00:22:06
Speaker 5: And all the time, God is good.
00:22:09
Speaker 1: Man, let me tell you something.
00:22:10
Speaker 7: When your spirit is good, this is what I'm talking about. When your spirit is good, you just get blessed randomly. Me and LaNika all happy and coupled up and went to the front desk of the Marriott. And the dude wasn't even talking to us two minutes. He said, let me upgrade y'all. It took him 90 minutes, but it was fine because it was a beautiful day.
00:22:30
Speaker 1: And we just went outside. They held our suitcases.
00:22:33
Speaker 7: And Luciani came through with the biggest suite in the hotel room. I love your spirit. That's what I want to talk about. Earlier, in my Mr. Griffin, I said, the joy of the Lord is my strength. Now, I'm a comedian, so I need to be super strong and super joey. They laugh at me because they say, you talk to everybody, Griff. I do talk to everybody. I all the way talk to everybody. When on my flight, I was on a flight with a young man sitting next to me, and he was on his way to a golf tournament, and his grandparents, his grandma was the one next to him, and behind him was his grandpa. And they were so proud of this little boy. And he wasn't even 12 yet. And he was super duper. That's just me. It's just who I am. I talk to everybody. I love to talk. I talked to this lady. They just opened a cover in Atlanta airport. And me and a lady, it was a long line. And we were saying how they not ready for a coffee yet. And we was having a good time and just laughed. Then we start talking about Jesus. Then she said, man, you got a wonderful spirit.
00:23:37
Speaker 1: Your spirit is so good.
00:23:39
Speaker 7: Ladies and gentlemen, I say it all the time. If they say Griff, how you doing Griff? Uh, I'm always awesome. Are you always awesome?
00:23:48
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:23:48
Speaker 7: When I'm not, I stay at home and nobody knows.
00:23:51
Speaker 1: Except Cheryl and Erica. Like that's it.
00:23:54
Speaker 7: But that, but, but that's, I really mean that. Like you got to go outside and know everything.
00:24:00
Speaker 1: I prayed about everything.
00:24:01
Speaker 7: I thought about when I leave the crib, this can happen today.
00:24:05
Speaker 1: God can blow my mind back today.
00:24:08
Speaker 7: I have great expectation today.
00:24:11
Speaker 1: God big.
00:24:12
Speaker 7: That's why I believe God can do whatever you ladies and gentlemen, you better keep your joy. And you don't let these, if somebody's trying to steal your joy, hang up on them. Don't even say, Oh, we didn't just hang up. And then when they call back, don't answer. And then let them figure it out. Oh, you must have been in a bad place. I'll talk to you later.
00:24:31
Speaker 1: Exactly. Joy, kill it. Now, somebody in their car right now is saying, just hang up on them. Just say, hey, man.
00:24:40
Speaker 5: Bye.
00:24:41
Speaker 1: Bye. You get to say, ain't he all right?
00:24:43
Speaker 7: Somebody else is saying, exactly, Dow Tone style.
00:24:47
Speaker 1: That's what you get. You get to say, ain't he all right?
00:24:49
Speaker 7: But if you like me and you know, man, Joy Stillers, be gone.
00:24:54
Speaker 1: And I'm screaming, ain't he all?
00:24:57
Speaker 14: All right.
00:24:58
Speaker 1: Trying to take some joy.
00:25:01
Speaker 5: Come on, listen.
00:25:03
Speaker 1: All right, y'all. All right, now I'm going now.
00:25:05
Speaker 5: Get me out of here.
00:25:08
Speaker 1: I don't think they do it on purpose, but then I think they do. I might. Sometimes.
00:25:14
Speaker 5: Sometimes. Sad is all they know.
00:25:18
Speaker 14: Yes.
00:25:19
Speaker 1: Sad is all they know.
00:25:20
Speaker 5: As we laugh about it and talk about it, let that not be you. Right.
00:25:24
Speaker 1: Let that not be you. Absolutely. All right, y'all, stick around. There's more on the way. It's Get Up Mornings.
00:25:30
Speaker 2: You're listening to Get Up Mornings.

00:26:16
Speaker 2: All right, guys.
00:26:17
Speaker 6: Music on the way from Kirk Franklin, Darwin Hobbs, and Kiera Sheard Kelly.
00:26:21
Speaker 1: Here's your Kaelin Carr with history on Get Up Morning.
00:26:24
Speaker 10: Our physical health affects our mental health and vice versa.
00:26:27
Speaker 1: Healthy in body.
00:26:30
Speaker 2: It's healthy ever after.
00:26:34
Speaker 5: It's healthy ever after. And on the line with us is Ayurvedic practitioner and counselor. It's Elena Adkins. Hey, Elena.
00:26:43
Speaker 3: Hey, y'all.
00:26:44
Speaker 5: All right. As the weather's getting cooler, Elena, we're going to jump right in. Many of us are waking up feeling stiffer and slower. Man, you are all in my.
00:26:51
Speaker 1: DMs, honey.
00:26:52
Speaker 5: You is all in my mind. All in what's going on with me. Why is stretching especially important during the fall season? And And what are some simple stretches that we can do before we even get out of bed?
00:27:03
Speaker 3: So when you stretch in the morning, it helps to trigger different factors within the body that helps joint lubrication, reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and calm your nervous system. So simple stretches like seated torso twists or butterflies or.
00:27:20
Speaker 1: Overhand reach or knee to.
00:27:22
Speaker 3: Chest help to improve fertility. circulation, promote movement, and so that you can get through your.
00:27:27
Speaker 1: Day with ease. All right.
00:27:29
Speaker 5: Now, you know, some folks don't even want to speak to you before they drink coffee in the morning.
00:27:33
Speaker 1: You know how they go, right?
00:27:35
Speaker 3: Yes.
00:27:35
Speaker 5: Why do you recommend hydrating before caffeinating?
00:27:38
Speaker 3: So you should hydrate before you caffeinate because your body actually wakes up in a dehydrated state due to the processes that occur while you're sleeping. And then this raises your stress hormones with the caffeine, which can increase anxiety and jitters through the day. So while it will give you a jolt of energy initially throughout the day, it can actually increase your stress response and irritability and anxiousness.
00:28:02
Speaker 1: Gotcha. Gotcha. I am living by it. this lemon and hot water in the morning before I do anything. So yeah, I love that.
00:28:09
Speaker 3: Help to flush out those toxins that get accumulated while sleeping, improve digestion, improve circulation and get you a great start to the day.
00:28:17
Speaker 1: All right.
00:28:18
Speaker 5: So you also recommended that we scrape our tongue every morning. Tell us what that is, right, and how different is that just from brushing it, right? Because some folks, like me, brush the tongue. So is that different than scraping?
00:28:29
Speaker 3: It is a little bit different, but brushing the tongue is still good.
00:28:32
Speaker 1: Scraping the tongue.
00:28:33
Speaker 3: With traditionally copper or stainless steel because how hygienic they are helps to, number one, significantly reduce bad breath and also remove dead skin cells and toxins that build up on the skin that interfere with your body's ability to even sense when you're eating Having that buildup can cause you to overeat and decrease and weaken digestive processes that begin in the mouth.
00:28:57
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:28:58
Speaker 5: So, you know, I see the tongue scrapers. And so we need to go ahead and purchase that. All right.
00:29:03
Speaker 1: So you're also telling us to oil our.
00:29:06
Speaker 5: Schnoos or schnauzers or our noses is what you say.
00:29:09
Speaker 3: Our schnoz, yes ma'am.
00:29:12
Speaker 1: How do you do that?
00:29:14
Speaker 3: In the fall time, there's a cooler temperatures, drier air, less daylight, increasing exposure to all types of seasonal allergies. So nasia is an herbal oil that is infused with things like grami, eucalyptus and sesame seed oil that helps to deeply nourish those passages and helps to decrease seasonal allergies and congestion that happens during the fall.
00:29:37
Speaker 2: All right.
00:29:37
Speaker 1: So what's the name of the oil again?
00:29:41
Speaker 3: Send me a message if you'd like some more information. Yeah.
00:29:45
Speaker 1: And that's the next question. So go ahead.
00:29:46
Speaker 5: Give us all the information so how we can stay connected and even book your services.
00:29:50
Speaker 16: Yes.
00:29:50
Speaker 3: So you can visit me at YouCanHealHere.com or you can follow me at Elena underscore Elise and send me a DM.
00:30:00
Speaker 5: I love that.
00:30:01
Speaker 1: And I love when you come on.
00:30:01
Speaker 5: I take all kinds of notes and you would be proud of me because I am doing what you're telling.
00:30:06
Speaker 1: Us to do.
00:30:11
Speaker 3: That make a humongous difference in our health.
00:30:14
Speaker 1: I love it.
00:30:15

00:30:23
Speaker 3: And thank you for having me.
00:30:25

Speaker 1: We'll be right back. That faith is like a muscle, and the more.

00:33:16
Speaker 6: Info all right cheryl what are we talking about on today.
00:33:18
Speaker 5: All right i have a good fashion question today you know i love fashion retail therapy is real for me it's a real thing like i can just walk through the malls and just the atmosphere of stores and going in and seeing all the new things and new trends i love love love that i scroll for hours looking at boutiques and fashion sites. I just, I don't know. If I wasn't doing radio, I would be doing something in fashion. I know for certain because it just gives me joy. But, you know, I'm a woman of a certain age and even though I love trends and.
00:33:47
Speaker 2: I love new things.
00:33:49
Speaker 5: Hush your mouth. And I just think that there's some things that's age appropriate. Like one thing I can't.
00:33:56
Speaker 1: Rock is the, I can't rock the midriffs or the, you know.
00:34:01
Speaker 6: Crop tops.
00:34:02
Speaker 1: With your belly button out. You don't want your belly button out. No. I mean, first of all. My 600 pound sisters, they rock them. They do.
00:34:11
Speaker 5: I can do it, but I would do like a cami underneath or a tank top or something. I just don't, I can't show my bare stomach.
00:34:19
Speaker 1: It depends on where I am. So, you know, we might.
00:34:21
Speaker 2: Get a little bit.
00:34:22
Speaker 1: You're showing your bare stomach, Eve, when? You might get a little bit.
00:34:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's usually when Mr.
00:34:26
Speaker 1: Campbell's around. I was about to say.
00:34:29
Speaker 5: Okay, thank you.
00:34:29
Speaker 1: That's different.
00:34:30
Speaker 5: Because, honey, when I was in Jamaica, you could tell me not to. We would show our shoulders and cleat, cleat and everything. When I'm at home, she said cleat, cleat.
00:34:39
Speaker 1: Cleat, cleat. When I'm home, you know, or when I'm in vacation mode, then yeah, you know.
00:34:44
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's it.
00:34:45
Speaker 6: The outfits are a little bit different. It's not my most comfortable space. And sometimes I do it just because I don't want to feel held hostage to this false idea of perfect and only certain people can. But I do think even in that, it's age appropriate. Now, people like Dawn Stroger and Elena.
00:35:02
Speaker 1: Let me tell you something.
00:35:03
Speaker 5: If I was Dawn Stroger or Elena. y'all might have to tell the good evangelist put some clothes on ma'am.
00:35:10
Speaker 6: I already know the lord ain't giving me good legs because i wouldn't act right.
00:35:13
Speaker 7: I'll cut up i already know how you walk down how you gonna walk to the.
00:35:17
Speaker 6: Altar listen slow and looking at everybody like i know you see it the lord is not giving me he's not giving me legs like that i wouldn't act right to do I'm not wearing skinny pants or skinny jeans.
00:35:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, everybody can't do it, Griff.
00:35:35
Speaker 13: You're right.
00:35:35
Speaker 1: You can wear your stomach out if you want to.
00:35:36
Speaker 7: John Gray get away with it sometimes, but I can't.
00:35:40
Speaker 5: He don't. It's my brother, John. Stop. You don't get away with it.
00:35:43
Speaker 1: I love him.
00:35:44
Speaker 5: Griff, you can if you want to.
00:35:46
Speaker 1: I don't want to. I would not like. I would not like. I'm a man of an appropriate age. What'd you say, sir?
00:35:57
Speaker 6: So we want to know, how do you feel about older ladies wearing their stomach out?
00:36:00
Speaker 1: Listen, some people, it's free and they live in their life. Right.
00:36:03
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:36:03
Speaker 5: It's age-appropriate clothes. Like, is there an age where you stop wearing certain things, you know?
00:36:07
Speaker 6: Okay, that's the question. Is there an age where you stop wearing certain things?
00:36:12
Speaker 8: 877-242-7000.
00:36:14
Speaker 1: 2426-877-2422. I like an elderly lady in some jeans. I ain't gonna lie. I'm a nasty dude, though, so.
00:36:25
Speaker 5: No dude don't care. This is a Christian show, sir. Christian show, Griff.
00:36:32
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm not a nasty dude. Alright, guys. It's the cruise, sir. Oh, I'm sorry.
00:36:40
Speaker 5: Stop wearing certain things.
00:36:42
Speaker 1: Crop tops, bathing suits.
00:36:43
Speaker 5: I know y'all seeing a punch on that cruise. When I tell you.
00:36:48
Speaker 1: They free out here.
00:36:49
Speaker 7: It's so funny that you would come up with this.
00:36:51
Speaker 1: They free out here. They free break. They free break.
00:36:53
Speaker 8: 877-242-2426.
00:36:53
Speaker 1: Give us a call.
00:36:54
Speaker 3: Get up.
00:36:54
Speaker 2: Get up.
00:36:55
Speaker 1: Got a lot to do.
00:36:55
Speaker 3: I'm 24.
00:36:55
Speaker 5: I don't know what's wrong.
00:36:56
Speaker 1: Get up.
00:37:07
Speaker 2: You're listening to Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
00:37:10
Speaker 1: You heard from us.
00:37:11
Speaker 5: Now let's hear from you.
00:37:12
Speaker 2: You know it. You know it.
00:37:13
Speaker 1: Let's go.
00:37:14
Speaker 10: Let's go.
00:37:15
Speaker 2: The Get Up poll is on.
00:37:16
Speaker 1: Get Up Mornings.
00:37:17
Speaker 2: All right, guys.
00:37:18
Speaker 1: Time for the Get Up poll question.
00:37:19
Speaker 6: And the question today is, is there an age when you stop wearing certain things?
00:37:23
Speaker 5: Let's go to the phones and see who we got. All right, Frida from Georgia is on the line.
00:37:27
Speaker 1: Frida, is there an age when you stop wearing certain clothes?
00:37:31
Speaker 9: Yes, I think that men that are past their 40s should not be wearing jerseys, jeans that.
00:37:38
Speaker 3: Have the creased iron heart and tennis shoes.
00:37:42
Speaker 7: Put some clothes on.
00:37:46
Speaker 1: The crease has gotten me, though, for real. They can't wear jerseys, though.
00:37:50
Speaker 5: They can't wear jerseys, right?
00:37:52
Speaker 9: I don't know.
00:37:53
Speaker 3: I mean, that cannot be your entire wardrobe.
00:37:56
Speaker 10: Every time we see you got a jersey on, put on a.
00:37:59
Speaker 11: Shirt with a collar, some swag, you know, a little linen.
00:38:02
Speaker 1: A little linen two-piece.
00:38:05
Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
00:38:06
Speaker 1: Thank you for calling.
00:38:08
Speaker 8: Bye-bye.
00:38:12
Speaker 13: Nikki in Maryland is on the line.
00:38:14
Speaker 5: Nikki, is there an age when you stop wearing certain.
00:38:16
Speaker 12: Clothes, sis?
00:38:18
Speaker 1: Yes, definitely.
00:38:19
Speaker 5: All right, what clothes are you talking about?
00:38:22
Speaker 3: Well, I never really got rid of my stomach after having my two kids, so I definitely have.
00:38:29
Speaker 1: To watch certain things that I wear.
00:38:30
Speaker 3: So I definitely wouldn't be wearing, yeah.
00:38:33
Speaker 11: Got you.
00:38:34
Speaker 5: Thank you for calling.
00:38:35
Speaker 1: Bye-bye.
00:38:36
Speaker 5: Dale from Charlotte is on the line. Hey, Dale, is there an age appropriate attire or something, you know, when you should stop wearing something?
00:38:43
Speaker 8: That's a very good question. And it's not just about the age. It's about how it's looking. Like, if you can grab your stomach and make a smile. from your chest down to your waistline. You don't want to wear certain things that expose the midriff. If your legs look like they've come from two toothpicks covered in satin, wrinkly satin, we can't skip leg day. If you're not wearing leg day, let's do that. Let's make sure we represent. Fellas, make sure your chest is at least six inches bigger than your midsection.
00:39:17
Speaker 1: Ladies, 36, 24, 36.
00:39:18
Speaker 8: Proportion.
00:39:19
Speaker 3: Do that.
00:39:19
Speaker 8: Do that. Handle that up, and we're good.
00:39:24
Speaker 5: In other words, wear clothes that fit your body. Is that what you're saying?
00:39:27
Speaker 8: Wear clothes that don't make you look like a hot mess.
00:39:30
Speaker 1: That's what you're saying.
00:39:31
Speaker 8: Please don't be the hot mess at any age.
00:39:34
Speaker 1: 22, 52, 72.
00:39:34
Speaker 8: Do what you gotta do. Be confident in yourself. But please, please, please.
00:39:41
Speaker 1: Thank you, Dale. Have a good one. Love you guys. Have a great day.
00:39:45
Speaker 2: Bye-bye.
00:39:46
Speaker 6: Bye.
00:39:47
Speaker 5: Elora in Cleveland is on the line. Elora, is there an age when you stop wearing certain things? Yes, yes.
00:39:53
Speaker 12: I have to say this real quick.
00:39:54
Speaker 11: Griff, I'll see you in Cleveland Sunday after Thanksgiving. Okay, so, yes, you should not be wearing crop tops after 20s. Yeah, it's a little bit too much.
00:40:07
Speaker 5: It's for the kids, huh?
00:40:09
Speaker 12: Yeah, the 20s.
00:40:10
Speaker 11: And so for me, it's hard.
00:40:12
Speaker 1: What do I say?
00:40:13
Speaker 3: It's hard because Griff met me.
00:40:15
Speaker 5: I'm little.
00:40:16
Speaker 11: I've been in toe size my whole life. Yeah. And so I could wear a crop top right now.
00:40:20
Speaker 1: I'm 56.
00:40:21
Speaker 11: But no, after 20s, we should not be wearing crop tops.
00:40:27
Speaker 5: Amen. I mean, I think it's a way you can wear them, especially if you got high waist pants that meet the crop top. You know what I mean?
00:40:34
Speaker 11: It's a way I think you can. Yeah, so you're in the fashion. Yeah, I think you can. I just don't like the feel of it when it gets.
00:40:44
Speaker 5: Yeah, when you raise your arm and all that.
00:40:46
Speaker 1: All right, Laura, thank you.

Speaker 7: I mean, it's just about knowing what's good, what looks good on you, and what don't look good on you.
00:41:13
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Just because you can show everything, that don't mean that you should. You know what I'm saying?
00:41:17
Speaker 11: That you should.
00:41:18
Speaker 10: Yeah.
00:41:20
Speaker 1: No one look good on you. No one don't.

00:43:10
Speaker 1: For God so loved the world.
00:43:12
Speaker 2: Love Talk. Love Talk. On Get Up Morning.
00:43:14
Speaker 6: Yes, it is time for the Love Talk of the Day, and I had to say goodbye yesterday.
00:43:19
Speaker 1: To a lady named Miss Nadine Armstead.
00:43:22
Speaker 6: She had been in my life probably since I was like five, six years old. I was in her, her daughter's and her son-in-law's wedding, who later became spiritual mentors to me. And so I was in a room full of people, the family, the nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles. I was in a room full of people who've known me for a very, very long time, but I have not seen them in a lot of years. You know, they catch up and watch things online, but I hadn't actually been in the room with them. What I love about love is it doesn't diminish because of time. And I know a lot of people nowadays, you know, uh, You know, they feel like things change just because I haven't seen you. But when you've had done life with people and had experiences with people, when you see them again, I totally went all the way back to Erica Atkins from Inglewood, California at Evangelistic Church of God in Christ. And when I tell you it was just such a beautiful moment to not only remember. All that Sister Armstead, which is what I called her.
00:44:19
Speaker 1: Poured into my life, prayed over me, corrected me.
00:44:23
Speaker 6: There was a street called 111th Street, and the cool thing about this street was my church was there.
00:44:29
Speaker 1: We lived there. My family lived there. It was a.
00:44:34
Speaker 6: Four-house little— it wasn't an apartment, but each of the houses were individual, but they were— owned by the same person. I don't know what you call that. But that's where we lived. My grandmother lived across the street. My best friends lived behind the fence where the church was. It was just family and love on the entire street. So when my grandmother would send me to the store as a little girl, there were people looking out.
00:44:55
Speaker 1: For me the whole way. You going to pick up something for your grandma?
00:44:58
Speaker 13: Yeah.
00:44:58
Speaker 10: Hi, Mr.
00:44:58
Speaker 6: So-and-so.
00:44:59
Speaker 16: Hi, Mr.
00:44:59
Speaker 6: So-and-so.
00:45:00
Speaker 1: The whole way.
00:45:01
Speaker 6: And I haven't seen those people probably Man, probably in about 25 years, maybe even more. And it was just the presence of love in that room was so beautiful. Them checking on me and letting me know that they had seen, you know, all the things that I've been doing. And of course, everybody asks, when are you going to get some rest? They were surprised that I was there because they know the busyness of my schedule.
00:45:28
Speaker 1: Um, the older one said, did you do your radio program this morning? Yes, ma'am.
00:45:33
Speaker 6: I did my radio program, but I'm telling you, having people who have loved you all of your life is a wonderful thing.
00:45:40
Speaker 1: Whether it is really good friends or family.
00:45:42
Speaker 6: Or church family, you know, the family you were born with or the family you adopted, the family you grew to love. There is nothing more refreshing than being in the room with people who love you just because you are you. Um, And it was just it was so encouraging to my soul. And I didn't realize how much I needed it, even though we were there for a funeral.
00:46:04
Speaker 1: Everybody there was happy to see one another.
00:46:06
Speaker 6: We took pictures and we remembered and we laughed and we encouraged and we checked in and found out what was going on with with younger kids and kids off at college and still pouring into me, still giving me wisdom, still, you know, giving me revelation from the Lord.
00:46:21
Speaker 1: It is just those are my people, man. Those are my people, and.
00:46:25
Speaker 6: I got to be with my village yesterday, and it was such a blessing. My big brother, who doesn't usually come to stuff, was there. It was just a wonderful day, even though it was.
00:46:38
Speaker 5: A sad day, a lot of tears.
00:46:39
Speaker 1: She had five children, but, y'all, she has 77 great-grandchildren.
00:46:43
Speaker 6: 26 great, great grandchildren. I mean, it was just a blessing to see the legacy of prayer.
00:46:55
Speaker 1: Mamas, don't stop praying. You hear me? Don't stop praying. Don't stop covering your kids. They're not going to like everything that you say. It don't matter.
00:47:02
Speaker 6: Be the woman or the man of God that you are and cover your family and your legacy will be that.
00:47:09
Speaker 1: One of prayer. One of one of believers, people who know how to call on the name of the Lord and people who serve the Lord. My heart is full. We say goodbye to her. But it was such a wonderful moment.
00:47:23
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:47:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, that's my love talk. I could keep going, but that's my love talk for the day. Love don't die, y'all. And those seeds that you plant when you really love someone, you've had a relationship, when you see them, they still love you all over again.
00:47:36
Speaker 1: And I'm so grateful to have that in my life. That's the love talk of the day. Y'all stick around.
