From Cedar Hill to the Regional Driver’s Seat with Mayor Stephen Mason

Ryan and Shawn welcome longtime friend Mayor Steve Mason to the studio on the eve of his first meeting as chair of the 45-member Regional Transportation Council. They cover his path from Cedar Hill teenager to three-term mayor, the origin story of Mastek Engineering's role on Pioneer Park, the region's mobility future, and a courtside seat to how RTC coordinated World Cup match-day transit. Plus: a baby announcement, a Cedar Hill hidden gem, and a lesson in leadership.

• 17 Years of Service – Mason's path from Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce to Planning & Zoning, nine years on City Council, and now his third term as mayor.
• The Pioneer Park Story – How a last-minute Friday-night call to Shawn Williams brought Mastek Engineering onto the Convention Center Master Plan team. Takeaway: "Be ready. You don't have to get ready."
• The Future of Mobility – A preview of RTC's Mobility 2050 planning, autonomous vehicles, flying rideshares, and breaking down transit silos between DART, DCTA, and Trinity Metro.
• Legislative Priorities – DART's leadership transition, the 2027 legislative session, and how RTC supports smaller cities through grants and letters of support.
• Cedar Hill Hidden Gem – The Cedar Hill Public Library, with four rooftop decks and a free public recording studio.
• Leadership Advice – Dream big, write your goals down, and be a good listener.
