TENTANG EPISODE INI
Hatem (@hairbyhatem) joins Kia Jonasson on The Blume Edit to talk about the huge leap from Perth to Sydney, building one of the most recognisable personal brands in the Australian hair industry, and the honest realities behind the polished feed.
Hatem opens up about the moment he decided he was "sick of it" and needed bigger, working with Baby Boo and the brands that made him feel like he had finally made it, the celebrity gig that felt like being a "slave behind the chair," and the surprise dream client who lived up to every expectation (spoiler: Bindi Irwin).
Plus: the wildest DM he has ever received, his honest take on Turkey surgery, dating icks in Sydney, the beauty trends he wants gone yesterday (zigzag curls, cut creases, overfilled lips), the one underrated treatment that changed his skin forever, and why he is now eyeing Dubai or the US as his next move.
A conversation about backing yourself before you are ready, saying yes to the uncomfortable, and running toward the thing everyone else avoids.

Key Takeaways
The scariest move is often the best one. Leaving Perth for Sydney unlocked opportunities Hatem could not have accessed staying comfortable.
You need proximity to want more. Seeing what other artists were getting in Sydney was the trigger that pushed him to make the leap.
Say no to disrespectful jobs. Even a big name celebrity gig is not worth being treated like "a slave behind the chair"; your peace is part of your rate.
The dream clients are usually the nicest ones. Bindi Irwin lived up to every expectation, on brand and off.
Less is more when it comes to beauty. Over filled lips, mega ring "ramen noodle" curls and heavy cut creases cheapen the look; softness reads as expensive.
Facial harmonisation beats mega treating one area. Small tweaks across the face for symmetry outperform overloading one feature.
Turkey is great for results, not pain management. Do your research, know what you are signing up for, and plan for the recovery, not just the surgery.
Skin lasers are the most underrated glow up. CO2, hybrid pixel peels and glass skin treatments beat almost anything else for a polished look.
Confidence is what actually makes someone attractive. On set, on camera, or on a date. The hottest face without confidence does not translate.
Watch how people behave on the first date. The person you meet on date one is them at their peak. If the bill is a red flag, believe it.
Fear of posting is the biggest thing holding creatives back. Nobody is perfect on camera, but consistency and authenticity win over polish every time.
