by Everlet. Name. Xandria Richardson School, St. Charles North, Senior Sport,
00:00:21.710 --> 00:00:26.850
Flag Football. Why she was selected. Richardson leads the undefeated North Stars
00:00:26.850 --> 00:00:31.970
in rushing yards, 864 and flag pulls one. Last week in wins
00:00:31.970 --> 00:00:37.090
over Geneva and Oswego East, she combined for five total touchdowns, rushing
00:00:37.090 --> 00:00:42.370
for 118 yards and adding another 213 receiving. In St. Charles North
00:00:42.450 --> 00:00:47.090
19-8 victory over Schaumburg, she ran for 129 yards on just four
00:00:47.090 --> 00:00:52.130
carries. The North Stars are 12-0 this season and aim to improve
00:00:52.130 --> 00:00:56.830
on their regional finals appearance last season. Richardson began flag football as
00:00:56.830 --> 00:01:01.790
a sophomore after almost a decade of playing tackle football. She ditched
00:01:01.790 --> 00:01:05.950
cheerleading to join the sport after watching her two older brothers play.
00:01:06.110 --> 00:01:10.350
Richardson was selected Athlete of the Week in an online vote. Other
00:01:10.350 --> 00:01:16.270
nominees included St. Charles East Football's Johnny Solano, Geneva Volleyball's Emma Peterson,
00:01:16.350 --> 00:01:21.660
and St. Charles North Cross Country's Samuel Hill. Here's Richardson's Canada with
00:01:21.660 --> 00:01:26.030
sports reporter Matt McGowan. What do you make of your success so
00:01:26.030 --> 00:01:30.260
far this season? Richardson. I'm really happy with how the team has
00:01:30.260 --> 00:01:33.460
played. We've worked hard since the start of summer, and each game
00:01:33.460 --> 00:01:36.180
we're able to see all the work we put in being paid
00:01:36.180 --> 00:01:42.250
off. What have you improved from last season to now? Richardson, I
00:01:42.250 --> 00:01:45.930
think I've improved my teamwork over the last year. I'm usually on
00:01:45.930 --> 00:01:49.130
the quiet side, but over the years I've learned the most important
00:01:49.130 --> 00:01:52.730
part about playing a team sport is being able to put all
00:01:52.730 --> 00:01:55.870
your skills together to succeed together. What
00:01:55.870 --> 00:01:58.920
is your favorite flag football memory? My
00:01:58.920 --> 00:02:02.520
favorite memory is team bonding. I love when my team has team
00:02:02.520 --> 00:02:07.260
dinners and other activities outside of sports. What is your favorite position
00:02:07.260 --> 00:02:12.520
to play and why? Richardson, my favorite position is running back because
00:02:12.520 --> 00:02:16.050
it's what I performed best at and it is so versatile. What
00:02:16.050 --> 00:02:20.010
can this St. Charles North team be this season? Richards, I think
00:02:20.010 --> 00:02:22.650
the St. Charles North team has a great chance to be a
00:02:22.650 --> 00:02:25.930
state competitor as long as we stay connected to our standard each
00:02:25.930 --> 00:02:29.920
day, whether it's game or practice. Do you have a favorite football
00:02:29.920 --> 00:02:34.990
team and or played Richardson, my favorite football team is the University
00:02:34.990 --> 00:02:38.430
of Alabama. I have been a fan of them my whole life
00:02:38.430 --> 00:02:41.230
because my father is a big fan of The I wouldn't say
00:02:41.230 --> 00:02:43.790
I have a favorite player, but most of my top players are
00:02:43.790 --> 00:02:46.590
at the University of Alabama or played for them at some point,
00:02:46.750 --> 00:02:50.110
such as Ryan Coleman Williams and Jalen Milrow, but I'm also a
00:02:50.110 --> 00:02:56.640
huge fan of Colston Loveland. Favorite TV show or movie? Richardson? I've
00:02:56.640 --> 00:03:00.400
just recently started watching the Chosen, but I'm not far enough in
00:03:00.400 --> 00:03:03.600
to say whether it's my favorite. At this moment, my favorite movie
00:03:03.600 --> 00:03:06.960
is The Hate You Give. I love it because of the message
00:03:06.960 --> 00:03:12.450
the movie has. What are your hobbies outside of football? Richardson, outside
00:03:12.450 --> 00:03:15.650
of flag football, I love being active in other ways such as
00:03:15.650 --> 00:03:18.850
running or going to the gym. Also, I love photography.
