00:00:00.110 --> 00:00:04.209
So, Magic the Gathering Final Fantasy made Wizards
00:00:04.209 --> 00:00:11.269
of the Coast $200 million in revenue in a single
00:00:11.269 --> 00:00:17.469
day. Yes, you heard that number right. $200 million
00:00:17.469 --> 00:00:22.469
in a single day. This was by far the most successful
00:00:22.469 --> 00:00:26.980
drop that they've ever had. The prices were through
00:00:26.980 --> 00:00:29.480
the roof and they still sold like freaking gangbusters,
00:00:29.480 --> 00:00:32.380
right? Some of the cars were really really great
00:00:32.380 --> 00:00:36.079
People really really seemed to obviously enjoy
00:00:36.079 --> 00:00:39.240
the set being that they bought a metric ton of
00:00:39.240 --> 00:00:44.939
it so Magics obviously really leading any users
00:00:44.939 --> 00:00:47.100
beyond we've now got edge of eternity's came
00:00:47.100 --> 00:00:49.439
out after Final Fantasy It's a normal magic set
00:00:49.439 --> 00:00:53.579
but our next two sets that are dropping Are spider
00:00:53.579 --> 00:00:56.719
-man and avatar the last airbender, but I specifically
00:00:56.719 --> 00:01:02.100
want to focus on spider -man today, okay Let's
00:01:02.100 --> 00:01:05.659
talk some spider -man Final Fantasy makes 200
00:01:05.659 --> 00:01:08.200
million dollars in revenue in a single day. It's
00:01:08.200 --> 00:01:12.219
a huge franchise It's been around forever But
00:01:12.219 --> 00:01:16.060
so is spider -man so my primary question to you
00:01:16.060 --> 00:01:20.299
Jay as we kind of look forward and then we'll
00:01:20.299 --> 00:01:26.359
kind of talk about Avatar as well. Can the Spider
00:01:26.359 --> 00:01:33.560
-Man set beat that number? No. No? No. It's very
00:01:33.560 --> 00:01:37.099
simple. End of segment. No. Why do you think
00:01:37.099 --> 00:01:40.739
that, again, I would hazard to guess that Spider
00:01:40.739 --> 00:01:44.780
-Man is a overall larger franchise than Final
00:01:44.780 --> 00:01:53.680
Fantasy. Yeah. You know, I'm just not going to
00:01:53.680 --> 00:01:55.000
I'm not going to answer your question. I'm going
00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:57.560
to take Marshawn Lynch approach and just be like,
00:01:57.719 --> 00:01:59.859
you know why I'm here. No, I'm just kidding.
00:02:00.480 --> 00:02:05.780
No, I think it makes sense to me. Final Fantasy.
00:02:05.819 --> 00:02:11.300
Lots of crossover. Lots of crossover. I don't
00:02:11.300 --> 00:02:15.860
think Spider -Man has that same crossover ability.
00:02:15.860 --> 00:02:20.389
Like I love Spider -Man. Yes. grew up watching
00:02:20.389 --> 00:02:23.469
the cartoons, just like Batman, just like the
00:02:23.469 --> 00:02:25.810
Justice League. I've always been a Spider -Man
00:02:25.810 --> 00:02:31.629
fan, but I just don't see the crossover. I don't
00:02:31.629 --> 00:02:37.129
think they're going to have fans go crazy over
00:02:37.129 --> 00:02:42.710
the Spider -Man cards. Prove me wrong. I mean,
00:02:42.710 --> 00:02:46.250
it's definitely possible. Now, I will say this.
00:02:47.550 --> 00:02:49.750
Don't know from a power set. I haven't had a
00:02:49.750 --> 00:02:52.030
chance to completely look through the set first
00:02:52.030 --> 00:02:55.349
off. They got some really great cards, right?
00:02:56.229 --> 00:02:58.530
Look at some of the art here. It's beautiful,
00:02:58.810 --> 00:03:02.250
right? Lots of different spider -man's where
00:03:02.250 --> 00:03:05.129
spider -ham that's one. This is the one I really
00:03:05.129 --> 00:03:08.849
love I love these like old 1960s comic art that
00:03:08.849 --> 00:03:16.000
they're doing that So Love some of the art that
00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:19.300
they've got going for here. I really want the
00:03:19.300 --> 00:03:22.979
spider -ham card Right, like I desperately desperately
00:03:22.979 --> 00:03:29.680
want spider -ham Where is he? There we go Peter
00:03:29.680 --> 00:03:36.740
porker spider -ham Okay, tell me you don't love
00:03:36.740 --> 00:03:48.900
that Yeah that I do like it but like Spider Gwen
00:03:48.900 --> 00:03:51.319
look at the some of this art is just really really
00:03:51.319 --> 00:03:59.240
good. Yeah it's it's really cool. I don't know
00:03:59.240 --> 00:04:04.360
but to me this is almost like a like me personally
00:04:04.360 --> 00:04:11.199
I would wait and then buy. Aftermarket? Yeah
00:04:11.199 --> 00:04:13.860
like aftermarket the very specific cards that
00:04:13.860 --> 00:04:21.410
I want like I wouldn't go out. Don't know I'm
00:04:21.410 --> 00:04:23.230
looking over to our twitch chat somebody said
00:04:23.230 --> 00:04:25.410
it's the the secondary market is higher But you
00:04:25.410 --> 00:04:27.050
have a lot of people who wanted Final Fantasy
00:04:27.050 --> 00:04:28.850
or don't probably plan on getting more magic
00:04:28.850 --> 00:04:31.689
stuff again And that square enix has flubbed
00:04:31.689 --> 00:04:34.970
giving fans merch they want and so this was the
00:04:34.970 --> 00:04:36.889
chance for Final Fantasy fans to get some cool
00:04:36.889 --> 00:04:43.930
merch for their Final Fantasy habit I Don't necessarily
00:04:43.930 --> 00:04:46.920
disagree with that again the only thing that
00:04:46.920 --> 00:04:51.300
makes me wonder is again objectively spider -man
00:04:51.300 --> 00:04:59.279
is a bigger franchise than uh and final fantasy
00:04:59.279 --> 00:05:05.660
um all right sticking on this topic slightly
00:05:05.660 --> 00:05:08.620
though so then the set right after this is avatar
00:05:08.620 --> 00:05:11.660
of the last airbender i think i already know
00:05:11.660 --> 00:05:14.980
your answer to this question right I want to
00:05:14.980 --> 00:05:16.660
come back to that in a second. See the look in
00:05:16.660 --> 00:05:19.899
your face. Can that one outsell Final Fantasy?
00:05:24.379 --> 00:05:28.199
No. Sticking with the nose. I'm sticking with
00:05:28.199 --> 00:05:31.879
the nose because also like I don't even I feel
00:05:31.879 --> 00:05:39.360
like. I don't know, like I feel like avatars
00:05:39.360 --> 00:05:42.040
already out of the line. I know we have another
00:05:42.040 --> 00:05:44.170
movie coming up. but i feel like it's already
00:05:44.170 --> 00:05:51.170
out of out of its prime and that's that's my
00:05:51.170 --> 00:05:55.949
cold take i don't know so so if you were to pick
00:05:55.949 --> 00:06:01.870
a franchise oh god for ub right that magic could
00:06:01.870 --> 00:06:06.870
make right is there any set any franchise that
00:06:06.870 --> 00:06:16.790
you go this will outsell final fantasy Twitch
00:06:16.790 --> 00:06:21.069
chat just put their opinion in Yeah, let me what
00:06:21.069 --> 00:06:25.290
do you think about this? I'm Just thinking about
00:06:25.290 --> 00:06:27.029
that. Look at these venom cars. These are cool
00:06:27.029 --> 00:06:30.569
chat this I Love the art they're doing. I really
00:06:30.569 --> 00:06:34.389
do. Oh, is there a carnage? Oh They didn't make
00:06:34.389 --> 00:06:38.910
a carnage. Well, you know what? Screw you magic.
00:06:38.910 --> 00:06:43.829
I want carnage Okay, I want carnage. How do you
00:06:43.829 --> 00:06:48.600
have venom and no carnage? like seriously so
00:06:48.600 --> 00:06:58.600
many peter parker cards um let's see here somebody
00:06:58.600 --> 00:07:02.319
said dragon quest that's going that we're going
00:07:02.319 --> 00:07:08.839
old school youtube chat thank you for that um
00:07:08.839 --> 00:07:10.759
somebody say something about dragon flight this
00:07:10.759 --> 00:07:12.399
weekend is dragon flight this weekend i don't
00:07:12.399 --> 00:07:22.360
know I'm just coming on my stuff. Oh, yeah. I
00:07:22.360 --> 00:07:25.040
have nothing really. I can't think of anything
00:07:25.040 --> 00:07:31.500
other than Star Wars slash Star Trek. Like that's
00:07:31.500 --> 00:07:35.319
a big enough franchise where you have crazy fans.
00:07:35.579 --> 00:07:40.759
Oh, wait. No. You know what? No. He thought of
00:07:40.759 --> 00:07:45.060
something. Pokemon. I just don't think it'll
00:07:45.060 --> 00:07:46.600
ever happen because Pokemon already has a card
00:07:46.600 --> 00:07:50.060
game. Exactly. It would never happen. But maybe
00:07:50.060 --> 00:07:53.879
if it did because Pokemon I mean you have the
00:07:53.879 --> 00:07:56.779
crazy you have the crazy collectors that buy
00:07:56.779 --> 00:08:00.420
cards just to hold cards that don't ever play
00:08:00.420 --> 00:08:03.120
the like the game that don't they're not even
00:08:03.120 --> 00:08:09.360
Pokemon fans. They just buy the cards. So doing
00:08:09.360 --> 00:08:11.680
a crossover with magic which I don't think would
00:08:11.680 --> 00:08:16.639
ever happen but if it did i think that's that
00:08:16.639 --> 00:08:18.639
star wars and star trek are like the only things
00:08:18.639 --> 00:08:22.480
that could be final fantasy i think okay i i
00:08:22.480 --> 00:08:26.079
had to show this one though masked meower it's
00:08:26.079 --> 00:08:34.240
a spider cat hero it's spider cat uh didn't they
00:08:34.240 --> 00:08:37.139
do potter no no they've never done a harry potter
00:08:37.139 --> 00:08:41.620
um i don't know 200 million a day that's amazing
00:08:41.620 --> 00:08:44.399
magic hey You're going to make up for all the
00:08:44.399 --> 00:08:47.480
downslide on your D &D money because of the loss
00:08:47.480 --> 00:08:50.120
of the Baldur's Gate royalties this year. So
00:08:50.120 --> 00:08:51.500
congratulations, you're going to make it up.
00:00:00.110 --> 00:00:04.209
So, Magic the Gathering Final Fantasy made Wizards

00:04:59.279 --> 00:05:05.660
um all right sticking on this topic slightly
00:05:05.660 --> 00:05:08.620
though so then the set right after this is avatar
00:05:08.620 --> 00:05:11.660
of the last airbender i think i already know
00:05:11.660 --> 00:05:14.980
your answer to this question right I want to
00:05:14.980 --> 00:05:16.660
come back to that in a second. See the look in
00:05:16.660 --> 00:05:19.899
your face. Can that one outsell Final Fantasy?
00:05:24.379 --> 00:05:28.199
No. Sticking with the nose. I'm sticking with
00:05:28.199 --> 00:05:31.879
the nose because also like I don't even I feel
00:05:31.879 --> 00:05:39.360
like. I don't know, like I feel like avatars
00:05:39.360 --> 00:05:42.040
already out of the line. I know we have another
00:05:42.040 --> 00:05:44.170
movie coming up. but i feel like it's already
00:05:44.170 --> 00:05:51.170
out of out of its prime and that's that's my
00:05:51.170 --> 00:05:55.949
cold take i don't know so so if you were to pick
00:05:55.949 --> 00:06:01.870
a franchise oh god for ub right that magic could
00:06:01.870 --> 00:06:06.870
make right is there any set any franchise that
00:06:06.870 --> 00:06:16.790
you go this will outsell final fantasy Twitch
00:06:16.790 --> 00:06:21.069
chat just put their opinion in Yeah, let me what
00:06:21.069 --> 00:06:25.290
do you think about this? I'm Just thinking about
00:06:25.290 --> 00:06:27.029
that. Look at these venom cars. These are cool
00:06:27.029 --> 00:06:30.569
chat this I Love the art they're doing. I really
00:06:30.569 --> 00:06:34.389
do. Oh, is there a carnage? Oh They didn't make
00:06:34.389 --> 00:06:38.910
a carnage. Well, you know what? Screw you magic.
00:06:38.910 --> 00:06:43.829
I want carnage Okay, I want carnage. How do you
00:06:43.829 --> 00:06:48.600
have venom and no carnage? like seriously so
00:06:48.600 --> 00:06:58.600
many peter parker cards um let's see here somebody
00:06:58.600 --> 00:07:02.319
said dragon quest that's going that we're going
00:07:02.319 --> 00:07:08.839
old school youtube chat thank you for that um
00:07:08.839 --> 00:07:10.759
somebody say something about dragon flight this
00:07:10.759 --> 00:07:12.399
weekend is dragon flight this weekend i don't
00:07:12.399 --> 00:07:22.360
know I'm just coming on my stuff. Oh, yeah. I
00:07:22.360 --> 00:07:25.040
have nothing really. I can't think of anything
00:07:25.040 --> 00:07:31.500
other than Star Wars slash Star Trek. Like that's
00:07:31.500 --> 00:07:35.319
a big enough franchise where you have crazy fans.
00:07:35.579 --> 00:07:40.759
Oh, wait. No. You know what? No. He thought of
00:07:40.759 --> 00:07:45.060
something. Pokemon. I just don't think it'll
00:07:45.060 --> 00:07:46.600
ever happen because Pokemon already has a card
00:07:46.600 --> 00:07:50.060
game. Exactly. It would never happen. But maybe
00:07:50.060 --> 00:07:53.879
if it did because Pokemon I mean you have the
00:07:53.879 --> 00:07:56.779
crazy you have the crazy collectors that buy
00:07:56.779 --> 00:08:00.420
cards just to hold cards that don't ever play
00:08:00.420 --> 00:08:03.120
the like the game that don't they're not even
00:08:03.120 --> 00:08:09.360
Pokemon fans. They just buy the cards. So doing
00:08:09.360 --> 00:08:11.680
a crossover with magic which I don't think would
00:08:11.680 --> 00:08:16.639
ever happen but if it did i think that's that
00:08:16.639 --> 00:08:18.639
star wars and star trek are like the only things
00:08:18.639 --> 00:08:22.480
that could be final fantasy i think okay i i
00:08:22.480 --> 00:08:26.079
had to show this one though masked meower it's
00:08:26.079 --> 00:08:34.240
a spider cat hero it's spider cat uh didn't they
00:08:34.240 --> 00:08:37.139
do potter no no they've never done a harry potter
00:08:37.139 --> 00:08:41.620
um i don't know 200 million a day that's amazing
00:08:41.620 --> 00:08:44.399
magic hey You're going to make up for all the
00:08:44.399 --> 00:08:47.480
downslide on your D &D money because of the loss
00:08:47.480 --> 00:08:50.120
of the Baldur's Gate royalties this year. So
00:08:50.120 --> 00:08:51.500
congratulations, you're going to make it up.
