Speaker 1: Seven lit reclement show, Let's Walk, Let's talk seventeen minutes before eleven outlags.
00:00:07
Speaker 2: So we continue with the series that.
00:00:09
Speaker 1: We started about what two weeks ago, looking at the things that signs cannot explain. We first looked at witchcraft. Last week we discussed manifestation. Today we're discussing the soul and the spirit. Because whether you're religious or not, you probably have used the terms interchangeably. Most people believe they have some form of a soul, whether loosely believe in this concept of the human spirit, or they believe part of them will live on when their body expires. These are the beliefs that are out there about the body, the spirit, and the soul, and they all come from somewhere. I mean traditionally the terms soulent spirit derive their meaning from religious beliefs, right, So today, in this largely scientific world, people still use soulent spirit to express the deepest parts of him and experience. And I have invited now go go Daneil and Chanzy, who is an African spiritual healine teacher, to help us understand where the differences are and how these two terms from part of this human experience.
00:01:18
Speaker 2: Go go and Chanzy, thank you so much for making time for us.
00:01:20
Speaker 3: Good morning and morning money Clement to us, and thank you so much for having me.
00:01:26
Speaker 1: Many people use the word soul and spirit interchangeably. Do they mean the same thing or are they slightly different?
00:01:35
Speaker 4: They mean different things of being right, So human beings are multi dimensional, so they are the physical, the intellectual, and they're the spiritual and the soul. So Signs would coin the soul as the say of your personality, your emotions, and your memories, therefore calling it the never system. And in spirituality we call it the soul because it doesn't only carry memories of your childhood, but it also carries the memories of the lives you might have lived before this lifetime. It carries the memories of your ancestors. It carries the memories of the generational traumas, the generational things that the generational gifts that have been passed on from one generation to the other. Whereas spirit is the spark of life, spirit is breath. Spirit is the god essence of a human being. That's the purest form of who you are. That is spirit. So everything good about me then is the spirit, everything pure about you? You know, pure about you, your pure essence.
00:02:41
Speaker 1: You.
00:02:41
Speaker 4: So I was listening to you know what's currently happening, you know, and I was a little bit triggered, and I was like, where is the spirit? Because the soul is an interceder between the desires of the flesh and the calling of the spirit. So when people but you know, they have a dark soul or they're solely state, this is where people can you know, commit hideous x. This is where they commit the ex of just looting up I mean from ten Vies hospital, the things that you just spoke about.
00:03:10
Speaker 3: These are people whose souls attackinged because.
00:03:13
Speaker 4: The soul must be able to hear the guidance of this. This is immoral, this is unjust, this is criminal. You know, this is wicked. But when somebody's soul is weakened, they can't hear spirit louder. Because as expressions of God, we are still giving sovereignty. We still have free will to act according to what want. But free will cannot be harmful to those around us. It can be harmful to animals, it can be hampful to other human beings. There still, we are still held accountable, Our souls will still be held accountable for the x that we you know, we commit even though we are granted free will.
00:03:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I mean, if we're being honest, Danzi, there are many instances where many of us are still confronted with the choice to do good or bad.
00:04:00
Speaker 2: And when you do bad, whether.
00:04:02
Speaker 1: It's you're paying that small little bribe, but you're thinking, oh, I feel better about this. But those are also the moments, even in those, like you know, you could call insignificant moments, where the voice is there that this is not a good thing, don't do this, But sometimes we tend to suppress that. How do we take care then of the soul and the spirit because when we talk about the human experience, we focus so much on the physical, the bodily experience, and as you said, science will tell you about the personalities, but I don't think we speak a lot about how do you then keep clean and also just strengthen that soul and that spirit.
00:04:44
Speaker 2: How do we do that?
00:04:47
Speaker 4: I think we must be clear that personality is not who you are. Personality is who you learnt to be to survive. You know, yes, it's not who you are. So a lot of people think there are their personality you want and your personality so things have happened to us. So let's speak about the things that we can our soul's trauma, you know, traumatic experiences, witchcraft, for example, when you are continuously getting attacks on your life that will weaken your soul. Right, the spirit cannot be touched, that's God. Nobody can touch that higher frequency. But people can touch the soul. Tragedies that we experience, grief that we experience, so those things.
00:05:25
Speaker 3: Do affect the soul, and we can the soul.
00:05:28
Speaker 4: And even when the soul is communicating what the spirit is talking, it doesn't hear louder because you're in grief. It doesn't hear louder because you've been abandoned, doesn't hear louder because you've been rejected. And like you said, it starts with the small ex of not good, right, it starts with the small ex of what we would call sein in a.
00:05:48
Speaker 3: Religious temper, see mean misalignment.
00:05:50
Speaker 4: So when you misalign, if you don't go back into aligning, Aligning requires healing. Aligning requires presence and grounding work. How do I pay attention to my breath? My breath reminds me of my body. My body reminds me that I can feel. Then when I can feel, I can I can hear, I'm said, I feel said, I'm feeling.
00:06:11
Speaker 3: This, I'm feeling those things.
00:06:12
Speaker 4: You know. So we think people just become a you know, evil, but evil is bread by society. That's why in African spirituality, when somebody does an evil deed, it's a reflection of the society that they come from. So we would have to review what our customs, what our culture? What have we not done to really create an environment where the soul can thrive?
00:06:37
Speaker 3: Where is the village?
00:06:39
Speaker 4: What went wrong with the village that raised this child that became a monster who's now a serial rapist.
00:06:45
Speaker 1: So how do you know then that your soul is thriving? How one knows that their soul is thriving? One is that you feel content. A lot of us are not. We live our lives.
00:06:58
Speaker 4: We can have checked boxes of everything, but there's no contentment.
00:07:02
Speaker 3: Peace is not cultivated.
00:07:04
Speaker 4: From what you attain or achieve, but peace is being comfortable with who you are. We know that your soul is content when you don't have to apologize for being yourself. Where you can authentically and truthfully leave your life, you know where it's the sun, the sunrise is the most beautiful thing where one can experience. And how do we know that somebody is not content is when they're always in the chasing, when it's the next kind, latest phone and all of that. So we know that there's a misalignment there, you know. And these are the things that lead people to you know, to committing you know, crazy things on earth. But we live in a society of consumerism. We don't live in a society where we celebrate people just being alive. Just you are enough, as you are breathing. We no longer have places of communion, I mean with you know, with with with the modern life. Everything is so fast, but we don't sit around the table and eat together, pray together, check in with each other.
00:08:02
Speaker 3: How is your heart? How have you been? Not how are you? I'm fine, of course everyone would say that, but how have you been?
00:08:09
Speaker 4: How is your heart? We don't wake up with ourselves. You know, when we wake up, the alum goes off. We're out of bed. We are on onto our phone to check our to do list. But you don't check with your body. Because when you are sleeping and when you are at rest, your spirit is awake, so it travels right into realms and then when it returns, the soul must recall those experiences. So some of the experiences are tragic, some of those experiences are horrible. It is the things that your soul did in the past that it must quire in this lifetime. So therefore what happens is as the soul reminds the body there is a you know it disconnect or a trauma, then that happens. So can you imagine when you get up with that, you have not fully landed your spirit and soul has not fully landed into the body when your body was addressed. So then you go out of the kind and booh, find yourself into a co accident and it becomes a series of misfortune. And sometimes it's things that life is happening in us, but life is happening with us. So it's important for people to have their own grounding practices. When you're not feeling okay, it's not just speaking that I'm not okay. Can you pay attention? But can you, jenner, can you take a moment to breathe instead of rushing to the next appointment, to the next thing that is waiting for you.
00:09:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, child on the waterspup blind susclement. I often wonder where my soul exists other than this realm, where I was before, and where will I go after I die. I think our dreams are places our souls visit while our bodies rest. That's a message there from child. So is the soul or spirit something that belongs solely to an individual or is it always tied to a family or ancestry as well?
00:09:53
Speaker 3: So as souls, we choose families to be born into.
00:09:58
Speaker 4: So before you are born, sitting somewhere in the spirit realm, and then there's a contract you enter into. That contract is what am I here to fulfill? And what do I need to fill my obligations? So you choose your parents, you choose your environment. That does not excuse the misfortune you experience as a child. It doesn't excuse child abuse, It does not excuse those things. But you chose some of these experiences as a way to awaken the soul to why it does come on earth, why it chose to incarnate, So as to your point of what was on WhatsApp When we depart right, we experience what we call two deaths. The first death is the physical the body dies, but the soul is still alive. Then the soul must also go through a death. But before the soul goes through a death, the soul is played its life.
00:10:50
Speaker 3: So soul, watch what you have lived.
00:10:53
Speaker 4: Look at what you did, Look at the pripe you gave that person, and look at what the pripe led to. Look at all of those things, and the soul must then account. The spirit does not die. Game, Yeah, that does not die. It just transforms its returns back to sauce and sauce for other people ngoulu others is God Allah. So whoever whom sauce is the divine that creates that we as the humans, are co creators of.
00:11:25
Speaker 1: So how do people then keep the soul and spirit aligned and healthy?
00:11:31
Speaker 4: So one is that the spirit remembers healthy as it is. Your spirit is pure, is healthy. But how do you keep your soul in tune with the spirit so that is not misled by the desires of the flesh. It's the ex Like I said, you know, that's where religion comes. Remember, religion is an organized form of worship. It's organized, structured, But religion requires spirituality and the beauty of spirituality. It says there are many forms of connecting. There are many forms of grounding for you, claiment. One of the ways that grounds you is to get on the road right. It reminds your breath. It reminds you of the essence of you. You appreciate that you are alive because you are constantly having to recognize and meet your breath for somebody else's meditation, right, for somebody else's writing things down, for somebody else is actually sitting and enjoying a male So there are various x where we can look into that can ground us.
00:12:32
Speaker 3: Can you be in tune? What are your values and principles?
00:12:35
Speaker 4: Because once you are here, on your values and principles, these would be guiding put on how not to fall off the wagon, how not to see, how not to miss aligned?
00:12:45
Speaker 2: Right?
00:12:46
Speaker 4: Are we care why we are here? A lot of us just survive. We're not living life, and that's why we're not thriving. And we'll keep on chasing. And that's where we start to miss align. Because you are finding yourself in everything because you don't know who you are outside your personality of I am loud, I am talkative, you know I am intelligent.
00:13:08
Speaker 3: Some of these personality.
00:13:10
Speaker 4: Traits are what we needed to get or learn to survive traumatic experiences with encountered as children. Somebody says, I speak like I'm loud like this, I get easily ngered. That is your survivor, that's the shadow that you needed to build to survive. Otherwise you've not pulled through those experiences, you know.
00:13:30
Speaker 2: Sure.
00:13:31
Speaker 1: So in African traditional healing, certain illnesses are said to because not just by the body being sick, but by maybe the soul being grieved or maybe I don't know, spirit being disturbed. And in fact it's not just an African traditional healing because I've read a book about medical intuition, like Carolyn Miss who's written a book They're Nottomy of the Spirit also speaks about this. So is it possible that some of the illnesses we face maybe as a result of the soul or spirit or soul is harmed. I don't know if, as you said, the spirit is your purest form, if that can be harmed or weakened.
00:14:09
Speaker 2: Two is that impossibility?
00:14:12
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:14:13
Speaker 2: There is?
00:14:13
Speaker 4: So remember spirit, we kept it as life was breadth God in you. Then so do just get Hampton. We spoke about the things that we can the soul, So things like trauma, for example, would weaken the soul when and it's not only that's why in African spirituality we hear things that you know the ancestors or the ancestors are asking, remember the soul is connected. It's the memory prox It's where your akashik records of the lives you have lived with other families than other lineages, including this lifetime, but also where you've kept your child with memories.
00:14:48
Speaker 3: So when we go through trauma, we go through what.
00:14:50
Speaker 4: We call the four force right f's you know, flight, fight, phone, and freeze. So when we have been through intense trauma where we shut down our human brain, we shut down our animal brain which is to run and either fight through, we get into the reptail and brain. So in spirituality we call it a miasma. So there's people who have what we call frozen traumas, you know, and it's not only traumas that they've experienced in this lifetime, it could be past lifetime, but it's also traumas of their families, their mothers. Science has now proven that actually children are born with part of their mother's never system, which is the soul, because children in their mothers will hear and feel everything. So when your mother was going through a stressful situation. When your mother was going through an intense situation. And maybe that's why the generation of the eighties and the nineties and even my two thousand, there's so much happening with us because we as South Africans were going through measure transition, and that measures transition came a.
00:15:55
Speaker 3: Lot of bloodshed.
00:15:56
Speaker 4: So we think I was born in eighty one, for example, I mean that time there was a lot of tamil. So what was my mother feeling? So part of that is encoded in me. I'm born with it.
00:16:07
Speaker 3: So that's why people.
00:16:08
Speaker 4: Will go through certain illnesses and elements, but they can't place them somewhere in America because it is a sole illness. It's just on trauma onto your body that you are caring.
00:16:21
Speaker 1: Sure, and Lancy, thank you so much. I'm always so insightful chatting to you. Really appreciate it. She's an African spiritual healer and teacher talking to us about the spirit and soul. That's part of our series looking at things that science can't really explain.
00:16:37
Speaker 2: It's eleven o'clock
