ЁЯУЦ Revelation 3:14тАУ22
In this episode of The King is Coming, Keith Harris and Jamie Harrison close out JesusтАЩs seven letters to the churches with the most sobering of them allтАФHis message to Laodicea. Unlike Philadelphia, there is no praise here. Only diagnosisтАж and invitation.
Jesus introduces Himself as тАЬthe Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of GodтАЩs creation.тАЭ He is the final word. He is completely trustworthy. He is Creator, not created.
Then comes the warning: тАЬYou are neither cold nor hotтАж because you are lukewarmтАжтАЭ (Revelation 3:15тАУ16)
In a city known for its lukewarm, undrinkable water, the imagery would have been unmistakable. The church believed they were rich and in need of nothingтАФbut Jesus says they were poor, blind, and naked.
Together, Keith and Jamie discuss:
тЬФя╕П What тАЬlukewarmтАЭ really meant in LaodiceaтАЩs context
тЬФя╕П The danger of spiritual self-sufficiency
тЬФя╕П Why Jesus confronts their wealth, clothing, and eye salve industries
тЬФя╕П How loving rebuke proves we belong to Him
тЬФя╕П What it means that Jesus stands at the door and knocks
This letter is hardтАФbut it is not hopeless. тАЬThose whom I love, I reprove and discipline. So be zealous and repent.тАЭ (Revelation 3:19) And the promise still stands: тАЬTo the one who conquers I will grant him to sit with me on my throneтАжтАЭ (Revelation 3:21)
тАЬHe who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.тАЭ (Revelation 3:22)
