Speaker 1: The Frames Per Second Podcast.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of The Frames Per Second Podcast. I am your host for the evening. And across from me I have Jalen. Or Doc, sorry. And next to Doc I have Ken. No Spike, no Rod, because they both some hoes. But today we are giving our thoughts on the newest Resident Evil film. Spike said he was going to go see it But he's scared, bro. He's scared of them little dogs with the fucking dick things that come out their mouth. So he was like, I can't do it. I can't do it. So, it's just us three. Gonna go around the room. Give some quick thoughts. Jalen, what did you think? Damn it. It's fine, bro. It is fine. It's the same way you do Ralph Feefo. Like, it's interchangeable at that point. Alright, you. What did you think about this movie? I want to first say... y'all got me watching a lot of horror and I don't do this shit. I'm a hoe. I don't do this shit.
00:01:05
Speaker 1: What is wrong with y'all?
00:01:06
Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I am realizing that it's not as bad as I thought it, like horror films aren't. Cause I watched obsession, back rooms, buddy, like all those, you know what I'm saying? I can do that. I can do that level. This is, and so this resident even kind of fits right in there too. So it's like, all right, I can, I can sit here, but, um, this is good. This is, this is real good. A real good watch. Um, I wasn't expecting it to be, if I'm honest with you. I'm not familiar with the Resident Evil games or any films before this one, so this is my introduction to Resident Evil. But overall, I really did enjoy this experience. Cool.
00:01:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoyed it as well for the most part.
00:01:45
Speaker 3: I found myself really kind of liking the direction, the idea, the approach that they took following some of the aspects of the actual game. And I think B was saying that they added something in here. I didn't know what it was. I only played like one or two, and then I played some of the other ones later, but I never really got back into Resident Evil like that. But it was interesting with the tone that they took and the style that they took. It was just towards the end, it got a little wobbly for me. But overall, I enjoyed it. If they're going to continue to move in this direction as opposed to what they what they have done in the past. So I'll be curious to see what they do with the franchise, if this is an idea to kind of remake the franchise.
00:02:37
Speaker 2: So I'll give my thoughts first, then we'll tackle that franchise idea. My thoughts, at first I was like, man, it was all right. And I think that was my issue because I knew Zack Craig did it. So I walked in with different expectations. So that's 100% on me. Once the movie was over and I walked away and I thought about it, I let go of the Zack Craig expectations. It was a good-ass movie. It was a lot of fun. Again, this is the kind of movie you go to the movie theater for. You have a good-ass time. I've never played the games, but I've seen the game play. So I like how they made this look like a video game. I thought that was really, really, really dope. So I think Zack Craig definitely did his thing. But speaking about Zack Crager and the franchise, I'm going to tell you fucking Resident Evil fans, as someone that cannot stand Rian Johnson due to what he did to Star Wars, I'm going to say y'all are some fucking losers. Because I ain't never in my life tweeted at Rian Johnson. I ain't never in my life gone on something he did and just started calling him an asshole and all this other type of shit. Because of what I personally think that he got wrong. But you guys are some fucking losers. Get outside. Make a friend. Take a walk. Get out your grandma's basement. Because the fact that y'all harassed this man into being like, I ain't doing none of this shit no more. Fuck all y'all, man. They're mad.
00:04:09
Speaker 1: From what I understand.
00:04:10
Speaker 2: Now, you game nerds.
00:04:11
Speaker 1: I don't know what happened.
00:04:12
Speaker 2: You self-proclaimed losers. Feel free to go into the comments. of Reddit or whatever else and explained to me what the detail is. But from what I could see, they were mad because apparently during this time in the game, in this raccoon city place, it's not supposed to snow. So they're apparently mad that Zach Crager made snow. Now again, I don't know if that's all true. But if it is, Y'all are fucking losers. In case I haven't been clear, losers. I'm hoping it's more. I'm hoping that Zack Crager got some shit wrong and just fucked up characters or something. I'm hoping that's what it is. Because if that's the case, I kind of get it. I'm not really that big of a fan of directors taking major liberties with changing stories around, especially if it's detrimental to the story. But if y'all are really just mad because this motherfucker made it fucking snow... Bro, I really need you to research virginity and understand how to lose it.
00:05:19
Speaker 1: You know I'm about to hit B and granddad. One of them is going to hit me back.
00:05:23
Speaker 2: If one of them says that, yes, I'm mad because it was snowing in Raccoon City, every bit of ass they've gotten over the past 40 years has been revoked. But I know my boy B. I know my boy granddad. Neither one of them are mad about no goofy ass shit like that. So, all that said. Oh, I also want to say the comedy in here was perfect, too. I thought so, too. The comedy in here was perfect. And you know what? I'm glad you mentioned that because the comedy is what made me at first be like, it was I.
00:06:02
Speaker 1: Gotcha.
00:06:02
Speaker 2: Because I, Zach Crager definitely throws comedy in his shit, but not this much. So I was like, who is he appealing to? Why isn't there a quote-unquote message? What's going on? But again, those are all of my issues. Those are all of my issues. And unlike these losers that we've been talking about, I can separate my issues and be like, oh, I'm being a bitch right now for no reason. I'm being a dumbass right now because the movie is great. So I've seen Weapons. Where does Barbarian fall in this as far as his filmography right now? I think Barbarians, in my opinion, is just as good as Weapons. I think this is his worst film, but it's not a bad film. People need to understand the difference. This is just my least favorite of his movies, but it's still a great movie. It's like a Kendrick album.
00:06:52
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:06:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no bad Kendrick album, but you have your least favorite.
00:06:56
Speaker 1: In terms of where you rank them. Exactly.
00:06:59
Speaker 2: Everything has a place, and that's all it is. My girl recently just watched Weapons and Barbarian. Love both. I know for a fact she's going to hate this movie. Because she does not like shit like this. She does not like dudes running around, I'm confused. Oh, there's a monster. She's going to be like, this is stupid. I'm not watching this. You know what I'm saying?
00:07:19
Speaker 1: So anyway.
00:07:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, if you haven't watched Barbarian, definitely go watch it. Because it's great. It's not scary. And it's very much, as pretentious as it sounds, it's very much a thinking movie. You're like, what's actually going on? But you'll see more of Zack Krieger's comedy But then that will also explain why at first I was like, I'm not feeling this movie like that. But yeah. Anyway, if you are like me and you didn't like it the first time, definitely, definitely give it a second shot. I think you might learn to appreciate it. All right. So it starts out, we meet Brian, who's at the end of his shift, but he's also having a discussion with his girlfriend, Michelle, about a potential pregnancy. But he's dropping off a B7 at the hospital and he's presented with the opportunity to make some more money By dropping off another package at Raccoon City General. He accepts it. But while driving there, he hits a woman that's walking around in the snow. So, Jalen, what did you think of this? And would you have let that heifer in your car? Hell no. That was the first thing.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: I know.
00:08:20
Speaker 2: That's fucked up.
00:08:21
Speaker 1: No.
00:08:22
Speaker 2: Honestly, after he hit her, I get the stopping and looking back and going to look. But once I see the footprints that she got up and walked, you're like, oh, she good.
00:08:32
Speaker 1: Oh, she good. I'm out.
00:08:33
Speaker 2: Good walk. Yeah, all right. She figured it out.
00:08:37
Speaker 3: Cool.
00:08:38
Speaker 2: But if I walked and I saw her in that condition, I'm being honest. I don't know what I would do if I'm being honest with myself. But I'm 60% sure I would probably still dip out because that shit ain't normal. You got, I hit you, you got up, walked, and you crunched up, like, no, that shit there. Oh, so you're saying after you found her crunched up like that, you just still left?
00:08:59
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:08:59
Speaker 2: Oh, that's wild. Yeah, like, if she got up and walked, like, nah, that shit ain't adding up. It ain't, it ain't, it ain't adding up to me. Okay. Interesting.
00:09:10
Speaker 3: I was trying to figure, because I was watching it, and I'm trying to remove, like, I'm in a horror movie.
00:09:15
Speaker 2: Sure.
00:09:16
Speaker 1: Sure. You have to have horror movie logic. Right. What would I do in real life? So I'm with you.
00:09:20
Speaker 3: You definitely would stop and be like, oh shit, I just hit somebody. And then you look back and you go, see, you would definitely, I was like, that's not normal like you said.
00:09:28
Speaker 1: It's late. It's dark.
00:09:31
Speaker 3: You're going in these woods. This thing just walked off. You don't know what's going on. I think the way she looked like she was seizing up though. Kind of maybe like, oh my God, like maybe the impact of her hitting the car caused her brain to misfunction. And she kind of got up and walked away and don't know what the fuck she doing. So then you were probably like, oh shit, I got to get her to the hospital.
00:09:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes more sense. I'm just fucked up.
00:09:58
Speaker 1: So yeah, that makes more sense.
00:10:00
Speaker 3: But again, I'm still like, damn, would I?
00:10:03
Speaker 1: Would I not? I don't know.
00:10:05
Speaker 2: It's a dark role.
00:10:05
Speaker 3: Nobody's seen you. Unless, you know, there's them flock cameras around in the sky or something. But outside of that, you're fine.
00:10:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm fucked up. I'm using horror film logic. Like, nah, this shit ain't making sense that you scrunched up like that. No, I... I would use real, if this is the real world, I would have thought the same thing as Ken. I hit her and adrenaline made her get up and walk. You've seen it. I've literally seen people get, like a guy on a motorcycle got hit on Moreland, flew up in the air, landed on the ground and got up and walked over to the sidewalk and was just like doing this type of shit before he fell over. It's just, it's adrenaline. It's all types of shit. I had a homie got shot and didn't know he was shot in the moment.
00:10:47
Speaker 1: Goddamn.
00:10:48
Speaker 2: Yeah. It wasn't that crazy. That's a thug, bro. Yeah, but it wasn't that crazy. It was because you heard the gunshots, everybody's running. The adrenaline was just trying to get up out of there and then realizing you got shot after the fact.
00:10:57
Speaker 1: Damn.
00:10:57
Speaker 2: Where'd he get shot at?
00:10:58
Speaker 1: The leg.
00:10:59
Speaker 2: Oh, that's crazy. That's a thug right there, bro. I wouldn't fuck with him. Hopefully he's okay now. Yeah, he's fine.
00:11:05
Speaker 1: He went crazy. Good, good, good.
00:11:06
Speaker 2: Stop shooting people, y'all. But yeah, I would have let her in the car probably. If I was on a dark road and I hit a woman, I'm letting her in the car and I'm taking her to the hospital. Now, if she's reaching over and doing all that type of shit, No, I'm probably going to go ahead and just call the pigs and be like, y'all come deal with this shit. Was his phone out of service at this point? Because he already had talked to his girl.
00:11:25
Speaker 1: You're right.
00:11:25
Speaker 2: I think his phone was out of service. His phone was out of service. I would just have to deal with it. I'm not going to run somebody over and just leave them on the side of the road. Especially if it's an old white lady. Because let it be found out that I killed an old white lady. I'm going straight to hell. Now, if that was a cyst, I mean, we probably would have been straight. The cops wouldn't have investigated it. They'd have been like, well, I mean, one less lonely nigger. Shouts, but boy, Bieber. Anyway, so after he puts this woman in the car, he runs into a deputy who pulls him over. And after a brief discussion, they come to the agreement that they need to get this woman to a hospital. But they end up putting the woman in the deputy's car. And I guess I'm pretty sure the cop told Brian to follow. Yeah, he did. He told Brian to follow them. But all of a sudden, the deputy's car swerves and crashes. So what did y'all think of Brian finding the deputy dead and having to shoot the crazy-ass woman? Did you feel justified in your feelings of, I would have left the heifer on the side of the road? Yeah, of course I did. Of course I felt justified in it. But, I mean, you kind of, obviously we knew the wheels were beginning to turn at this point. And when he finds her, because I'm such a hoe, I'm waiting for the jump scare. Oh, sure.
00:12:40
Speaker 1: From the cop.
00:12:41
Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, so the cop going to be the zombie now. I'm waiting for that. So when she shows up, because I'm so focused on the cop, I forgot that she was in the backseat. So when she popped up and running around that car and shit, it was funny to me. It was. But to me, I was like, why don't you just stop? in the aim, my boy. Because he was freaking out.
00:13:03
Speaker 1: And he's a goofball.
00:13:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, over the film, you figure it out that, yeah, he really, like, because there's the comedy in it, too, that he really just doesn't have it all. But, yeah, I was like, just stop and shoot. Y'all got to bear with me because this ain't my spirit. So in my mind, I'm like, this is why I don't watch this shit because niggas ain't using logic. And so to him, I'm like, just stop and shoot, nigga. I mean, I said the same thing.
00:13:23
Speaker 3: I thought he would stop, eventually stop and shoot at some point. Um, but I did like, he kind of got behind the car and then they were kind of playing, you know, hide and seek with each other. Um, so that kind of made sense. But I also, I was thinking like, you kind of need to be out in the open. So you can kind of see the threat coming at you, uh, whichever way, unless.
00:13:44
Speaker 1: It's behind you. But, um, but either way I go, like, I think, I didn't even think about the cop.
00:13:50
Speaker 3: I knew she wasn't in the car and that at some point she was going to show up and win. So I think they did a good job with that jump scare when she popped up on the window like that.
00:13:58
Speaker 1: I thought that that was good.
00:14:00
Speaker 3: And then the way she kind of creeped over and crawled into the car and trying to get at him.
00:14:06
Speaker 1: I thought that was really dope how he did that.
00:14:09
Speaker 3: Even the fact that him swerving and crashing, you know, off the side of the road. I thought that was dope, too, because you just saw it in the way he did. And that motherfucker fishtailed and was gone.
00:14:18
Speaker 1: Because he didn't have chains on his truck either. on his tires.
00:14:24
Speaker 3: Cause remember she was saying, Hey, do you have, is your car like ready for the winter and driving in snow?
00:14:29
Speaker 1: And of course he didn't have it. And I looked at him, I was like, you don't have it either. But.
00:14:35
Speaker 2: Yeah. I liked all of this. Um, as far as the whole, not using logic part, that's what I liked because this made, this made this way more realistic because I can tell you right now, I would do the same shit that Brian's dumb ass was doing. Hmm. Like the movies that we watch where they're like, oh, the car crashes. I'm going to go look in the window. I'm going to grab the gun immediately. I'm going to be prepared. Like all that shit is cool to watch, but it's bullshit. Most people would be doing the same goofy ass shit that Brian's doing. Running away from this lady over and over and over again until he finally is just like, okay, no, I should just stop. That's what I liked about it. They ran around the car like four times before Brian was finally like, okay, fuck that. I'm just going to stop and then just wait for her to come out and shoot. And I like the whole thing where he's running away from her and he's shooting behind him. Crazy. He's not aiming. He's missing everything. And he finally does shoot her and then he realizes he shot his car. I loved all of this. Because all of this seems realistic. He said, who shot my car?
00:15:43
Speaker 1: Right.
00:15:44
Speaker 2: You dumb motherfucker, you did. But the way she came up out the scene, like she came up out the snow, that was very much reminiscent of a video game it's like a cut but they call cut scenes so like that was reminiscent how she came about like out of the basically the darkness that's like yeah so like that that piece right there did remind me of a video game no that was that part was that part was good that one didn't really get me but it was good but after realizing his car is dead he walks to a nearby house where he encounters a dog that chases him into a barn So what did y'all think of the scene in the barn and the eventual revelation that this was not a normal dog?
00:16:19
Speaker 3: Man, this was dope because you've been chased by a dog before, right?
00:16:25
Speaker 1: Of course. Okay, all right. We've all been chased by dogs. So I love when he heard the dog bark, he stopped immediately and looked. Because that's what you got to do. You got to accept the situation immediately.
00:16:42
Speaker 3: And then that motherfucker came around, and he was hauling ass.
00:16:45
Speaker 1: All of this was really good.
00:16:48
Speaker 3: They also used this to really explain, like, this guy really isn't all that bright.
00:16:54
Speaker 1: Because he climbs up the ladder, which is great.
00:16:58
Speaker 3: But then this fool threw the ladder at the dog because he was mad at the dog, and they realized they needed to get down. Because as soon as I saw it, I was like, now I'm watching, I'm like, oh, this is kind of getting video game mode. He's going to need that ladder now. To move over to get down. I'm thinking from the game. So I was like, oh, okay.
00:17:14
Speaker 1: That's kind of cool that they did that. I didn't know he was going to throw the damn ladder at the dog.
00:17:18
Speaker 2: I did not either, Ken. Because I know he saw the hook.
00:17:21
Speaker 1: And I was like, all right.
00:17:22
Speaker 2: Well, he saw the window and saw the hook. So I was like, all right. Well, you found a way out. You need the ladder to get down. When he threw that shit at the dog, like, you dumb fuck. I was like. You done let your emotions get the best of you. Now, I get it, because when you do finally get away from a dog, you be looking at it like, yeah, dumb motherfucker. Learn how to climb, bitch. But that day, I was like, damn. So when I saw the hook, I was like, all right, I know that's not the way they're going to make this work. It should not work for him using that hook to get down.
00:17:54
Speaker 1: And it didn't.
00:17:55
Speaker 2: So that dog broke that wood. I was like, all right, well, the wood is faulty. That's what I thought in my head was, damn. I said the wood faulty and the dog about to get through that wood. That's what I was about to say.
00:18:05
Speaker 3: It looked like because the wood was kind of boring a little bit. It looked like he was about to break free.
00:18:09
Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought he was about to say, all right. Then he got quiet. Yeah, when he got quiet.
00:18:14
Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
00:18:15
Speaker 2: I haven't seen. I saw the preview. I thought it was going to be just zombies. Yeah. So when the dog had shit come out, I was like, okay, what the fuck we watching? I was like, what the hell going on here? I knew that was a monster dog because those monster dogs were in the other movies, but they didn't look as cool. But I was like, that's not a regular dog. That's a monster dog, and he's about to fuck you up. And he tried. He tried. But I'm with y'all. I think they did a really good job with the humor here. I like how he threw the ladder. But the second I saw the ladder and the way he was moving with it, I was like, he's about to throw the ladder down, and he's going to need the fucking ladder. I thought what was going to happen is I thought the dog was going to try to climb the ladder. He was going to push it down that way. But because that would have made sense. But I guess they want to push the point forward that Brian is a dumbass. So the fact that he threw it down and then thought he could come down on the hook. This part was hilarious to me because he already fell on his ass trying to jump.
00:19:09
Speaker 1: Over the fence.
00:19:10
Speaker 2: So it's like that is true. There's just so much humor here. So I was just like, what is that? Craig are doing. I'm laughing at the same time. I'm like, what is what is he doing? But no, that part was hilarious.
00:19:23
Speaker 3: Did y'all think y'all, I gotta ask, y'all think y'all would have made that jump over the fence?
00:19:26
Speaker 2: I would have jumped that little last fence. Oh, hell yeah. That dude is younger than all of us it looked like. Hell yeah.
00:19:31
Speaker 1: But definitely not.
00:19:31
Speaker 2: He's very unathletic and goofy. That's the point. I thought to myself, that's not that high, bro.
00:19:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. He had the right idea. He just didn't clear it.
00:19:41
Speaker 2: No, at all.
00:19:42
Speaker 1: Have you guys ever, well, yeah, I asked later.
00:19:45
Speaker 2: So he goes into the nearby house where he finds a shotgun and then upstairs he finds some ammunition. And he leaves his girlfriend a voicemail before noticing that the woman that he shot earlier is running towards him in the snow, which I wish they had left out of the trailer, but that's all right, because this scene is great. But a scene that they did leave out the trailer... While he's preparing the shotgun and while we're all focused on the woman running towards the house, he's attacked by this old man that's in the house. And I want y'all to be honest. I know, you know, y'all men and all that. Y'all scream like some bitches, didn't y'all? No. You a lie. No. Jalen, did you....
00:20:27
Speaker 1: Oh, for real?
00:20:27
Speaker 2: Oh, y'all just going to lie. Y'all just going to sit here and lie. I didn't scream. So I'm the only bitch here, huh? Yeah. Because I... Bro, that got me. It got me, but I ain't screaming.
00:20:38
Speaker 1: No.
00:20:38
Speaker 2: I vocally... Jump scares do not get me. I don't ever jump from jump scares. This shit, I don't know what it was, but this shit got me. I was not expecting that old man to be in that fucking room. I literally in the theater said, oh, shit. Bro, that shit. Oh, man, that shit was good, man.
00:21:01
Speaker 1: It was good.
00:21:02
Speaker 3: I expected him to be in the room because, of course, we heard the bump earlier. And it's a movie. Something has to be up there. But I was like, now I'm thinking through the logic in my head. Like, okay, I'm in somebody's house. Nobody's come down yet.
00:21:21
Speaker 1: That's weird.
00:21:21
Speaker 3: Would I actually go upstairs to try to see if somebody is up there? But either way it goes, I was like, but it's the game. That's how the game goes. You get somewhere and then you start exploring it. Even the way he was going through the drawers looking for stuff, that.
00:21:34
Speaker 1: Shit was dope too.
00:21:35
Speaker 3: So I was like, man, he's really tapped into lockdown or did a lot of research.
00:21:41
Speaker 1: But I was like, I.
00:21:42
Speaker 3: Know he's up there somewhere. And when he came running.
00:21:45
Speaker 1: Out, I was like, yo, that was good. But I think the jump scare.
00:21:50
Speaker 3: Was more effective for me than this was, the way they did the jump scare. But they did it good, though.
00:21:58
Speaker 2: I don't know how you expected it. I didn't expect anybody was in there. Me either.
00:22:02
Speaker 1: Y'all didn't hear the noise.
00:22:05
Speaker 2: I heard something, and then he went upstairs and But for some reason, I just wasn't, like, when he looked around the room and there was nobody in there, I was like, all right. Like, zombies don't hide. So I was like, okay, cool. Now, I don't know the dynamics of the Resident Evil zombies. I don't know if they can still think and all that. But I was just like, all right, there's nobody in there. I just like how he made us focus so hard on him getting that shotgun ready for the woman that was in the snow. That there was no part of me that was like, oh, there's a guy in here. So that scared the shit out of me. I thought it was the cop at first, too. You know, that was one of my only questions for this film is I was surprised that they didn't convert the cop. Because that seems to be their thing.
00:22:47
Speaker 3: I think the cop may have just died from the accident. That's how I made it make sense.
00:22:53
Speaker 2: When you think about the time and his bite and how long the bite took to transform him. Yeah, because there's always... Ellen, she was in the back seat. She wasn't in the front seat. So she probably didn't have time to even get up there. But I'm assuming she made him crash.
00:23:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
00:23:08
Speaker 3: Probably just did something crazy. Yeah, grabbing him and stuff like that. And he's sitting here fighting her and get off. And then, you know, swerved and crashed. Because his eyes were open and everything. So I think he just died from the crash and not from her.
00:23:21
Speaker 1: Hmm. Yeah. Okay.
00:23:26
Speaker 2: Oh, I forgot to ask. Were y'all shocked that he... got that clean shot of that woman, like he shot her right in the head?
00:23:35
Speaker 1: You know what? I didn't even think about that.
00:23:38
Speaker 2: Because he was a terrible shot. Anytime he got a good shot, I was like, all right. It seemed like he got a good shot when he needed a good shot. So that kind of bothered me a little bit.
00:23:48
Speaker 1: Because he did miss a lot. I'm trying to replay it in my head.
00:23:52
Speaker 2: She was running up the stairs, and he was aiming the gun. He had a long-ass time.
00:23:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, with the shotgun.
00:23:57
Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, yeah, now that I think about it, it's a shotgun, though. Right.
00:24:00
Speaker 1: It is. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was, I guess.
00:24:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, I can let it slide because it is a shotgun. Yeah, every other shot, he was bad. Yeah, every shot, he was terrible. So I let this one go. All right, so some tentacles come out of the headless woman and attach to the dead old man. And that's what you did? I ain't like that shit, man. I was just like, what the fuck am I watching? Because I thought it was a zombie movie. I was like, what the fuck is this? So he escapes this creature by taking off in the truck, but ends up hitting the gate because he couldn't get the lock open. But after this, he wanders out to a dark tunnel where he happens upon an RV. And inside the RV, he finds a little girl who was bitten by her mother and is hiding in the bathroom. So what did y'all think about what goes down with.
00:24:45
Speaker 1: This little girl?
00:24:46
Speaker 2: This is the funniest shit in the movie. I ain't gonna lie to you. Wait, why was this funny? When he opened it, right? And he just, he all sad. And then he looked down. And she reached her arms out. He was like, damn.
00:25:03
Speaker 1: I felt him.
00:25:04
Speaker 2: I felt him.
00:25:04
Speaker 1: I was like, yep.
00:25:05
Speaker 2: You a child, buddy. But damn, I don't want to do this, but I don't want to be mean to a kid, but I don't want to pick you up. It's like when someone you know brings their little baby around, they're like, look at my baby, and the baby's ugly as fuck. You want to hold him? Not really, because that might be contagious.
00:25:22
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:25:23
Speaker 2: Even on another level, as far as if your cousin brings your child around, and the baby shit themselves or something, they'd be like, you can just go.
00:25:29
Speaker 1: Or they got a cold.
00:25:31
Speaker 2: That's never happened to me. I'm good. That's never happened around me. Get that shitty-ass baby.
00:25:37
Speaker 1: Out of here.
00:25:38
Speaker 3: No, that was done really, really well. Because at this point, I'm like, oh, okay. So he and the girl, they're going to be going together.
00:25:48
Speaker 1: That's before I saw the foot. And then I saw the foot. I was like, oh, shit.
00:25:52
Speaker 3: How the hell are they going to do that? And then she was like, pick me up. I reached her ass out like that.
00:25:58
Speaker 2: I was like.
00:25:58
Speaker 1: The theater laughed at that. Yeah. Yeah. It was funny because we're all like, what the hell is he going to do?
00:26:05
Speaker 3: And then that thing attacked him, and then he shot her.
00:26:09
Speaker 1: But I like that, though, because I think they be letting kids off in movies. They do. So I like that they did that.
00:26:15
Speaker 2: I think they let him off on this one, too.
00:26:18
Speaker 1: Oh.
00:26:18
Speaker 2: Because we didn't see it. We didn't see it. Oh.
00:26:20
Speaker 1: I thought we did. We just saw the splatter.
00:26:23
Speaker 2: Yeah. It was a couple of kids that were off screen because it's like, We know she was dead, though.
00:26:29
Speaker 1: She was all over the wall.
00:26:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, but even just going back, I like the escape part.
00:26:36
Speaker 1: Because when, first of all, I don't know what kind of loss they have in this movie.
00:26:40
Speaker 3: But second of all, I thought, I was like, just drive through the fucking fence. Drive through the gate. And when that shit didn't work, I was like, yo, what the hell? That was like, my idea wouldn't have worked at all. But I was out, which is dope that I actually got in the car. I was like, man, just drive through the fucking shit. We see it in movies all the time.
00:27:01
Speaker 1: And that shit didn't work at all. And then it went through here.
00:27:04
Speaker 3: But all of this was dope, just creeping through there, going through the RV to get to the other side.
00:27:09
Speaker 1: Like, again, very video game-ish. And it was dope the way they did it.
00:27:15
Speaker 2: And they drove through the gate and then got out the truck and the key fell. It was just really well done. That was funny to me, too. But, yeah, I mean, I was thinking the same thing that you were, Ken. Just drive the truck through the gate. But, yeah, the fact that that didn't work, I was like, this is great. Zach Krieger is really, really killing it.
00:27:34
Speaker 1: Would you have picked the little girl up?
00:27:36
Speaker 2: No. Your foot has 12 feet. You have at least 13. Why do I need to carry you? You can carry me. No. No, you can still walk, man.
00:27:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Well, no. Her foot was messed up.
00:27:53
Speaker 2: Her foot had tentacles.
00:27:55
Speaker 1: I mean, it could walk.
00:27:56
Speaker 2: Well, we're going to see. At least try before you think I'm going to pick you up.
00:28:01
Speaker 3: I thought the kid was going to turn around and it was going to be all fucked up and then attack me.
00:28:05
Speaker 2: I mean, she would. That's what I was going to ask y'all. Y'all wouldn't have shot right away?
00:28:08
Speaker 1: In the face, though. Because it looked like they were setting us up for a jump scare or something like that.
00:28:14
Speaker 2: Y'all wouldn't have shot right away?
00:28:16
Speaker 1: No.
00:28:16
Speaker 2: After seeing the foot?
00:28:17
Speaker 1: No.
00:28:17
Speaker 2: I would have just closed the door and been like, all right, little girl, good luck. I'm going to leave him. You would have shot the little girl? I done seen fucking tentacles climbing out of all type of shit already. Yeah, but you don't know how the thing works. You don't know how the whole virus works. So for all you know, it might have just infected her foot and she might be fine. Only thing I know is she's not coming with me. You're staying here. You've been good by yourself for however long. So good luck. Stay here.
00:28:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if I would have shot her. A little girl? Yeah, that's tough.
00:28:49
Speaker 2: Now, once that motherfucker's foot started grabbing on me and she got up, okay, yeah, then I'm shooting you. I guess I'm stuck in I ain't used to a horror film because my logic is like, oh, y'all fucked up. I don't trust nothing in this shit. I don't trust shit no more. I'm not going to shoot a little girl immediately. I'm going to leave her there to die. Her leg was wrapping around the toilet, Mike. The thing about all the work you have to do to even pick her up, you got to untangle her leg from the toilet. She found a way to get it done because she got up and got to him. you would love to have more content from frames per second become a patron where you can contribute to what we review and discuss our patreon gives the listeners the power to nominate and vote a monthly discussion and film review while also nominating and voting on weekly solo reviews from each cast member you also get the opportunity to vote on the publicly released anniversary film, all exclusive to our Patreon. And I was like, all right, bro. Come on, man. Come on, man.
00:30:04
Speaker 1: I'm glad he got bit, though. I am, too.
00:30:07
Speaker 2: I am, too. She bit him in the arm, which I kind of didn't expect to happen here. I was like, they're not going to bite him. But they did. So after shooting the girl, he leaves and encounters Maxine and Paul. They explain that they work for the Umbrella Corporation who created the virus and that Brian actually has the cure in that box that he was carrying. So while driving, they encountered some infected attacking a woman, but Maxine jumps out, kills the infected, and then goes into a dark alleyway. So did y'all like the back and forth between Brian and Paul in reference to who should get out and go get the car keys?
00:30:42
Speaker 1: This was good, actually.
00:30:43
Speaker 3: They did a good job of going back and forth here.
00:30:47
Speaker 1: Like, neither one wanted to go out. Why?
00:30:50
Speaker 3: Him saying I'm not good with guns. The whole scene with the gun and loading the gun and trying to figure out how it works. pointing the gun at his face. All of that shit was good. I swear I thought Maxine was going to come running around that corner.
00:31:01
Speaker 2: I did, too, because she's not a well-known actress, but she's a decently known actress. I thought she was going to be right around the corner.
00:31:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, so I was surprised.
00:31:09
Speaker 3: I was like, because I thought that's what they were playing on the bit. It was like, oh, you know, she went around the corner and, you know, it's going to be a minute. Then she's going to come. I thought she was going to come around the corner being chased by a bunch of zombies or something like that. So I was surprised they took her out. that early I was like god dang man they did it dirty but no I think all this was dope to set up what happened and I thought the dialogue here was pretty good and I think.
00:31:33
Speaker 1: For the most part it worked.
00:31:36
Speaker 2: I think for me the scene was cool but I think what I liked the most about the scene is how it does add more value to the main character because what's the other dude name that was in the front seat Paul so Paul I mean he's just a part of the corporation he's just shit he's a shit ball person But you could tell that even though he was a shit ball, the main character was just trying his best to not give in. He was like, no, we should go check on him. We should have. But it was just like when he started thinking about it, like, hold on, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Let me think through it. But the humanity in him was, because obviously over and over again, his humanity has been showing up, even though he's a goofball. He's been trying to do both things. So I think it added more to him as a character. Yeah. the more I think about the scene, but the scene was all right to me. It just added to the depths of him. I like the scene mainly because of what happened with the gun. The fact that they're showing Brian trying to load the gun and the gun goes off. I just like that they did that because again, it's showing that Brian is a regular ass dude. He's not some fucking action hero. But yeah, Brian goes in, he finds Maxine has been split in two and is being dragged by the tentacles. And he says, fuck that. And he leaves. And he goes back to the car, but he finds Paul getting attacked. So he, I mean, unless y'all got somewhere to add to this, he tries to save Paul by shooting the tentacles, but he ends up shooting Paul and Paul gets taken off. So I thought that was funny. But it's here we find out that he's actually being chased by that multi-body creature. And he ends up going into the sewer where he encounters a mutated fat naked man whose belly explodes into a bunch of infected rats. So did you like this part or were you like, I'm trying to understand it. Understand why there's a big fat naked man in the sewer? Yeah. I mean, aren't there always big fat naked men in the sewer? That's what I assume lives down.
00:33:30
Speaker 1: In the sewer.
00:33:31
Speaker 2: Okay. Well, if that's the case, then yeah. I just, I was trying to get why exactly this was placed here. And big fat dude and rats just jump out of his belly. I was like, all right, what's going on here now? I mean, the rats were mutated, which was, what's so interesting about me watching this, you know, like, all this shit is weird and nasty, but cool at the same fucking time. Welcome to horror. Yeah. Um, and so, yeah, I did find that shit very like dope when he, he killed all the rats and then all of them niggas just started coming together and he's like, Oh yeah, I gotta get the fuck up out of here. I said, yeah, this was a dope scene. I just didn't understand why it was placed here.
00:34:06
Speaker 3: Just, I'm thinking video game, just another obstacle, uh, on his path to get to this place.
00:34:14
Speaker 1: So he's just going to run into different challenges.
00:34:17
Speaker 3: Um, And this guy just got stuck there and infected by these rats that were inside him.
00:34:23
Speaker 1: All that shit was dope.
00:34:25
Speaker 3: I guess at this point, though, I'm like, bro, you've encountered a lot of shit. And you know that most of the things, no, all of the things you've ran into down here are not good and messed up.
00:34:41
Speaker 1: You don't have to say, are you okay? Hello?
00:34:44
Speaker 3: He's sitting here groaning and moaning and stuff like that. Climb up and leave.
00:34:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, because what are you going to do if he's not okay?
00:34:52
Speaker 1: Right.
00:34:52
Speaker 2: How can you help him?
00:34:53
Speaker 1: Yeah. So I had a little bit of it.
00:34:56
Speaker 3: I know they just wanted to show us the rats and stuff like that, and I get it, but I'm like, at this point, you have enough intel to know that this guy's not going to chase you.
00:35:05
Speaker 1: So you can get out of here. But nevertheless, I.
00:35:11
Speaker 3: Think just going with what they did, though, just seeing the rats come out and him shooting the rats, And then I'm thinking like, bro, there go all your bullets.
00:35:19
Speaker 1: So now you got to get up. And he went out.
00:35:21
Speaker 3: But again, part of Resident Evil is you shoot stuff, you run out of bullets, you got to find bullets.
00:35:25
Speaker 1: It becomes part of the challenge, what makes everything difficult.
00:35:29
Speaker 3: And then when he got up, I was like, close the fucking manhole behind me.
00:35:33
Speaker 1: For what?
00:35:34
Speaker 2: What difference does it make at that point? Because I thought the rat thought I was going to climb out. Oh, because of the rats.
00:35:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought when they formed, it did not happen. But that's what I was thinking. I was like, oh, you got to. Closed the manhole to keep the thing down there, but it didn't. So I guess at this point, this thing was just chasing him. It was just really after him.
00:35:51
Speaker 1: Yes.
00:35:52
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I like this part, too. I didn't really question how that big fat man got down there, because I assumed it's just Resident Evil. They're just trying to show us weird shit. And I enjoyed it, seeing a big old fat white man's belly explode and rats come out. I was like, all right, cool. Never even thought for a second. to put any logic into this. But he gets out and he starts walking towards Raccoon City. But on the way there, he encounters a bunch of the infected on top of a building who start jumping off in order to get to Brian. Before I pass it off to y'all, I will say this is my favorite part of the movie and I hate that they put it in the trailer. I really, really hate that they put it in the trailer. But I watched the thing that they talk about how they filmed this. And this whole thing, not the whole thing, but the majority of it was practical. This wasn't the CGI thing. So they had 150-pound bags of blood that were like, I guess, shaped into a body or something, and they were dropping them from the top of the building while the actor was running through the street. So I thought that was actually really dope. Because I was watching it, and it didn't look fake. It looked real. And Zack Craig even said that one of the bags almost hit him.
00:37:04
Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
00:37:04
Speaker 2: I don't know if you can imagine a 150-pound bag of blood From the top of a... If that had hit him, it would have been a wrap.
00:37:13
Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
00:37:14
Speaker 2: But yeah, did y'all like this part? Overall, this was dope.
00:37:19
Speaker 1: This was dope.
00:37:20
Speaker 2: Especially, like, it's just repeating.
00:37:21
Speaker 1: And the way he was running, like.
00:37:23
Speaker 2: He was doing his thing, selling this shit. Because I was just with him, too. I was like, nigga, yeah, I feel the same way. Even though it's not probable that they're going to catch me, they can still kill me by just dropping on me like that shit. And it looked disgusting. Like, hell, yeah, yeah.
00:37:38
Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
00:37:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, I fuck with this shit.
00:37:39
Speaker 3: I was trying to figure out the logic of it because it wasn't the creature. So I guess they were just trying to attack him because they were just jumping off the damn rooftop. And when the first one dropped off and it didn't reanimate, I was like, OK, these are different. And I like that he said it, but nothing much really happened out of.
00:38:01
Speaker 1: It the rest of the movie.
00:38:02
Speaker 2: But.
00:38:02
Speaker 3: Either way I go, you know, it was interesting that they were jumping to get him, but it was just it. It was like they just wanted to do this chase scene, you know, which is fine because it was dope, but he was hauling ass.
00:38:15
Speaker 1: It was like, what he was saying is, okay, okay, he was saying something. But no, it was cool. I did expect them to reanimate. I was surprised they didn't, though.
00:38:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, again, I don't play the game. I don't know what the logic is with these things, what makes them reanimate and what doesn't. But we've seen this kind of thing in Walking Dead or any other zombie film. If they're walking somewhere and there's a zombie up high, the zombie's going to walk off trying to get them. Because they don't understand, like, oh, I can't. I can't just come off of this and get up and go. So I didn't really put too much logic in why it did that. But I did like the fact that after the first one jumps off, Brian stops. He goes, man, what the fuck was that about? Yeah, this whole part, I thought it was really, really filmed well. But this here, I'm noticing, like, damn, this movie's almost over. Like, they're really just doing a lot of shit, and we don't have any answers, which is fine. Yeah. Which is fine. But, yeah, the movie was, like, three-quarters of the way through. So he gets to Raccoon City General, but he can't go up the elevator, so he sits down and gets his Drake on. He, like, leaves a message for his girlfriend talking about, oh, baby, I'm sorry I didn't come home.
00:39:27
Speaker 1: He really gave up.
00:39:28
Speaker 2: He thought it was a wrap. He thought it was a wrap. One of the techs works there and he speaks through the intercom and lets him know that he has to get up to the 28th floor by going up to the 24th floor and then taking the sky bridge over and then going up the rest of the four floors. What did y'all think of this part, especially like, first of all, could y'all climb 28 floors? Cause I'm gonna say it right now. I can't climb two without getting winded. I hate stairs. I can do a treadmill for an hour. I cannot do two flights of stairs. So I was already like, there's no, we're just dead at this point. Cause I'm not doing this. So that fucked me up. And also the puking man inside the elevator. So let me know what y'all thought. Dude, I believe I could do it. 28 floors.
00:40:19
Speaker 1: Yeah. 24.
00:40:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, 24. No, 28 because you have to go 28 and you got to walk over and do four more.
00:40:26
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:40:27
Speaker 2: So, you think you could do it? Yeah. I stayed on the seventh floor of my apartment. I used to take the stairs all the time. Like, it was like, it's just second. Because I wanted to get steps in. You just ran through the street after all these damn zombies. Now you added, you added that onto it and yeah, it's going to be. Just regular Jalen right now. Yeah, I could do 28 stairs. Yeah, somebody tell you. 28 flights. I could probably do 28. It's going to be it, man. It's going to be just done but it could get done okay.
00:40:49
Speaker 3: It would have definitely taken a minute but what i will say.
00:40:53
Speaker 2: I say i'm talking to wires over here that's all right oh he don't know me that's why i'm just gonna let him slide with that i.
00:41:00
Speaker 3: Think at some point i would have i would have turned it into like some sort of challenge to get through it but um.
00:41:09
Speaker 1: You have to do something like that.
00:41:11
Speaker 2: I mean, this whole thing is a challenge. Yeah, yeah.
00:41:12
Speaker 3: I'm like, man, I'm going to be able to tell this story to my kids and some shit like that or whatever. But just to kind of mentally get yourself prepared. But when he got to the fourth floor, the second or whatever, he was tired.
00:41:25
Speaker 1: I was like, geez, bro, you got 20 more to go. It is a lot. It is a lot.
00:41:30
Speaker 3: And I was thinking about could I do it and would I want to. And I'm telling you right now, I would have did exactly what he did.
00:41:38
Speaker 2: That's what I'm trying to get to.
00:41:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have did exactly.
00:41:40
Speaker 2: Ain't no way.
00:41:41
Speaker 1: Because I know, I'm thinking in my head, I'm like, man, that elevator got to be fine. Right.
00:41:48
Speaker 2: Let's at least see.
00:41:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
00:41:51
Speaker 3: So this was probably one of the most realistic things in the movie to me because I would have made the same decision in my arrogance and know-it-all self.
00:42:02
Speaker 1: We were like, man, we're going to be fine getting in the elevator. Until it wasn't.
00:42:07
Speaker 2: This nigga told me exactly not to do it.
00:42:10
Speaker 3: But the reason why, he didn't say it because it was going to be a spitting acid creature up there. He said there's been a fire and, you know, it's safer to take the stairs.
00:42:21
Speaker 1: He didn't say the shit wasn't working.
00:42:22
Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, I want that chance.
00:42:25
Speaker 3: You know, part of the exercise that they always tell you, never take the elevator. But my thing is, I was like, Let me at least try.
00:42:32
Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Because I'm not going to make it. It's either elevator or this isn't happening. I'm not making it up 28 flights of stairs. It's bad.
00:42:42
Speaker 3: Or at least I would, maybe I would, let me go a couple of floors and see.
00:42:48
Speaker 1: Right. You know, let me at least try to cut the journey down some. Exactly.
00:42:51
Speaker 2: I might not have taken the elevator all the way to the top, but I'm cutting some of these floors out. Ain't no fucking way I'm climbing 28 flights of stairs.
00:42:59
Speaker 3: The only thing, because I thought it was going to be And I like how they did this, but I was like, okay, there's something in the elevator.
00:43:05
Speaker 1: Now, it seemed like the elevator was the safest path.
00:43:07
Speaker 3: Because when he went in the stairway, there wasn't anything in there and he could hear it.
00:43:13
Speaker 2: And I guess that's my point. As a nigga who take the stairs, nobody's ever in the stairway. So I would have trust being in the stairs more than being in the elevator. But nothing was going to be in the elevator either. What if they come out in the stairs? You're going to run up the stairs away from them? You got a better chance of getting away in the stairs than you do in the elevator. Nah, these motherfuckers got tentacles and shit. They can go faster than you up the stairs. You're stuck in a box when it's the elevator. At least I have more space. I take the stairs often. That's what I'm saying. That's why it doesn't bother me. I'm hearing it. It is going to be a task. But I take the stairs often. There's never anybody in the stairwell.
00:43:44
Speaker 1: No, you're right. Except my mom.
00:43:47
Speaker 2: They stay pissing in the stairwell and whatnot.
00:43:50
Speaker 3: Okay, so reflecting back on your seven-floor journey. Now imagine 13 more.
00:43:59
Speaker 2: Seven, we four times. No, imagine 20 more, 21 more. I go seven floors. Seven is four. It's going to 28. It's four times that trip. I realize I probably have to stop halfway through and die. I'll still take the stairs. We can move on. I would take the stairs.
00:44:16
Speaker 1: So you would have went 12, rest it.
00:44:19
Speaker 2: You can't do math, but.
00:44:21
Speaker 1: It's 24, right? No, it's 28.
00:44:23
Speaker 2: It's 28.
00:44:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, he has to go 24.
00:44:26
Speaker 2: But 24 and then over the four.
00:44:27
Speaker 1: 24, yeah. That's where I was, yeah. 24. Yeah, yeah.
00:44:32
Speaker 2: But him being in the elevator and that shit started puking down, though. Man. Yeah, that shit was cool.
00:44:39
Speaker 1: I don't know how he survived that, though.
00:44:41
Speaker 2: Yeah. That was definitely video game logic, movie logic. It was fun to watch, though.
00:44:46
Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, and then him.
00:44:48
Speaker 3: This is where the movie get a little shaky for me. When he grabbed the thing or start talking to it.
00:44:53
Speaker 1: And that was. Yeah. Yeah.
00:44:55
Speaker 3: That was a little much because at this point. But you go.
00:44:58
Speaker 2: Up there and fight something that was puking ass.
00:44:59
Speaker 1: Yeah. Come on.
00:45:02
Speaker 2: That part was a little. What do you do before you grab it? Nothing. He climbed out and then just walked up and was like, oh yeah, what's all that shit about? And he walked up and hit him with the gun. And then he made him puke on the other thing. I'm about to say, him talking to it, as much as we know, especially black people, we talk to objects that don't exist all the time. So I believe him as far as talking. Because every time he said something, I would have been the same person. What the fuck? All that shit makes sense. So once he gets past this part, he finds that he has to go through the maternity ward. And it's here we see a whole bunch of blood sacks, and we encounter some of the infected babies. Boy, that little hand. That fucking hand came up. I'm like, why are you sitting down? Get up. If there's anything I don't want to deal with, it's a fucking infected baby. Oh, that shit was funny. The way it just creeped up. It was small, and that shit went all like a pencil.
00:46:01
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:46:03
Speaker 3: I will say he has up to this point been really, really consistent. Anything that was in front of him that he didn't know what the fuck it was, he sat there and watched.
00:46:14
Speaker 1: It until it presented the threat. This is true.
00:46:16
Speaker 3: Every single step of the way. From the guy dropping down, he was like, oh shit, what the fuck was that? And then he started watching the other ones until they started, then he started running. He's been fairly consistent throughout this whole movie. And at this point, again, I'm like, bro, by now, You know, like, this ain't it. And smart idea. Go through that because you have to go through there. Taking the broom and moving stuff out of the way. But, damn, man. Like, leave that shit alone. And then you don't know all this other stuff. Like, it's fucked up in there. But this shit was dope, though. And I think they did it real good.
00:46:51
Speaker 1: Like, having that little arm creep out and then this thing coming up. Yeah, that was dope.
00:46:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, I like this scene a lot. especially when the blood sacks busted out and the people landed and they started running after him. I thought all this was really, really good. But he makes it out of the maternity ward and he finds that the sky bridge is gone. That whole part of the building has just been destroyed. So he manages to get the infected from the maternity ward. They're being held behind this closed door and he manages to get them to come out by shooting the broom that was holding the door shut.
00:47:26
Speaker 1: The last bullet.
00:47:27
Speaker 2: That was what? That was his last bullet. Yeah, it was his last bullet. And he makes them all fall onto that big multi-body creature that's been pursuing him. So after finding that his arm is completely fucked from the infection, he makes it up to the lab. And the techs are able to make a cure while he's up there. But then Brian's body starts to mutate more and he kills everyone in the lab except the redhead, that fake-ass James Acaster looking-ass dude. And that's not a diss to James Acaster. Every redhead I see looks like my boy James Acaster. But this dude could be his fucking twin brother. Actually, you know what? I didn't even look. Was that James Acaster?
00:48:12
Speaker 1: That might have been.
00:48:13
Speaker 2: I'm going to look while y'all are talking. But what did y'all think of this part? The funniest part of this was the black dude with the beard. Telling everybody else to go do the work. Hey, man, you can get it, man.
00:48:23
Speaker 1: It's right there. It's right there.
00:48:25
Speaker 2: I said, it's the realest shit of it because that's me. Yo, it's right there, bro. If you just reach out and grab it, I can see it. You can grab it. You put everybody up to the test, man. But I fucked with this scene. I fucked with this a lot. The way Brown was sitting over there and, like, he was just trying to keep calm, trying to hide his hand and trying to hide everything, like, Yeah, it all made perfect sense. And I was sitting there wondering, like, is he going to make it out?
00:48:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
00:48:53
Speaker 2: Is he going to make it out? Man, this shit was... It was great. So I don't know what part you said you had a gripe with the ending of the movie, but if anything, I fuck with this ending. Like, all this whole scene and the way it ended, this is what made the movie for me. We're not at the end yet. we're almost to the end but just we're still in the lab because I'm with you I thought the whole shit was hilarious hilarious and by the way that was not James Acaster the reason I recognize him is he was actually in the show called Skins that I loved and I think that's why for some reason I just made him in my brain I made him be James Acaster but anyway Kim what did you think of.
00:49:38
Speaker 3: This Yeah, this whole scene was.
00:49:46
Speaker 1: The wobbly part I was talking about.
00:49:48
Speaker 2: Damn.
00:49:50
Speaker 3: It was too, too goofy for me. Now I'm like, all right, man. Nobody's going to ask if he's infected. Fine, I can give you that because y'all been hiding out and you're excited. Now we get a chance to make the cure. And that's why they're focused on. And then he goes crazy. And then the guy couldn't get it. I could even buy him not being able to get it or whatever. But just them hiding and him being like, you get it, you get it. It was just way too silly for me towards the end of the movie. And it was just like, man, this would have been a part with just a little bit of seriousness in it. Because it felt like the movie started as the longer it went, the sillier it got.
00:50:37
Speaker 1: Sure.
00:50:38
Speaker 3: And And now at the end, I'm like, oh, man, it's almost like not doubling down on it, but we're close.
00:50:45
Speaker 1: Oh, you go get it. You go get it there.
00:50:46
Speaker 3: I do agree with you, Jaylen, in terms of like, yeah, would I try to go get that shit?
00:50:51
Speaker 1: Probably not. I'll go get it. And I was curious to see what happened if he actually stabbed him with.
00:50:56
Speaker 3: The vaccine to see if he would have reverted. But no, this was just too much comedy here. But he was fucking them up, though. And I love the fog and stuff from the fire extinguisher and stuff. They were doing everything like that. And that guy was funny. That guy now, he's in a lot of shit.
00:51:19
Speaker 1: Who? Which guy? That black guy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:51:22
Speaker 3: Just in these small little roles, bro. When it opened, I was like, of course it would be him.
00:51:27
Speaker 2: He kills it every time. The severance. No, he's great. Yeah, every time. But I get what Ken is saying. It was very goofy, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was funny. Especially because we're starting all over again. The tech dropped the fucking cure. Once again, you dropped it in the lab and it rolls over. But the funniest part to me was when that girl made it over to the guy that had the syringe in her hand. And she grabbed his arm. And then when the creature snapped his arm off, she threw it. That shit, the whole theater busted out laughing. But, again, it was realistic because I probably would have done the same shit. I don't want somebody to sever an arm in my hand. And I'm not going to use logic and be like, well, let me remove the syringe first. And then, nah.
00:52:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's disgusting.
00:52:16
Speaker 2: I'd probably just be like, ah. So this is where we get to the last part of the movie. So Dave is the redhead guy. He runs out and he's pursued by Brian, who is now a creature. And the Brian creature catches up to him and grabs him before Dave can stick him with the cure. Because the Brian monster, I guess there's like a tentacle or something that comes out from the side and it cuts Dave's arm off, dropping the cure down 28 floors down. So the film ends with the National Guard showing up to confront the Brian monster. So, Jalen, you said you liked this ending. Go ahead and give your final thoughts. You thought this was a good way to end the film? Yeah, I didn't need anything else from here.
00:53:01
Speaker 1: Like....
00:53:03
Speaker 2: I mean, after hearing Zack Craig saying, basically, I'm done with y'all, it is a little bit disappointing because it's like, I would like to see where it goes next. But I was on a long enough ride. The ride was enjoyable. And I don't really need closure to this because I don't really want to see the government win. But so at the same time, I was just like, all right, whatever happens next happens next. I don't really need anything else.
00:53:28
Speaker 1: He's gone.
00:53:28
Speaker 2: The main character we were with this whole time, he's gone at this point.
00:53:32
Speaker 3: Yep.
00:53:32
Speaker 2: So we don't really have anything else to hold on to. This story can continue however it fits as a franchise. So yeah, this was the perfect way to just end it. I don't need anything else. If you decide to continue it with a great story, cool. But right here, this one little section I got, I'm.
00:53:48
Speaker 1: Good with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:53:50
Speaker 3: I like the ending too. He was clearly at this point a throwaway character. So we're not going to do anything with him ever again. No happy endings here. You know, so this thing that he went on this journey, it's a wrap for him. So I was curious, though, because what I thought was going to happen was the guy that had the cure, I.
00:54:14
Speaker 1: Thought he was going to eat him. And then the cure was, yeah. But then I was like, how does he revert back to the old thing? Because he's got multiple bodies. Yeah, but I thought that was going to happen.
00:54:27
Speaker 3: But when it didn't, I was like, okay, so Resident Evil continues. And the franchise at this point, I thought could continue, but I don't know what he's going to do now.
00:54:35
Speaker 1: I hope he does come back. Cause I, I liked a lot of the things that he did here.
00:54:39
Speaker 3: He really brought a different, uh, horror approach to it with a nice tone that worked as well.
00:54:45
Speaker 2: The creature looked dope too.
00:54:47
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:54:47
Speaker 2: The creature design for all of this was really good. Nothing looked corny or lame. It all looked really good. But yeah, I mean, I thought this was a pretty, pretty perfect way to end the movie. Um, I'm glad it wasn't a happy ending. I'm glad that it ended with the guy that we've been following for the past hour and a half is fucked. I like how it wasn't a hero story. It wasn't like this dude shows up and he's a regular guy and all of a sudden by the end of the movie he turns into Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator or some shit. He's not a hero. He's just a regular ass dude and this is just one regular ass dude story in a multitude of stories that happens in this world. So I liked it. I liked it. Again, it's a perfect movie theater movie. It's not something I'd probably care to watch at home. I'm glad I went to the theater to see it because the theater experience. Now, you probably could have gone to y'all's little 40X thing that y'all like so much.
00:55:40
Speaker 1: Hell no.
00:55:41
Speaker 2: And saw what this felt like. Especially the puking shit. I wonder what they would have done. Like if they would have made the room smell like puke and made it hot or something. But I thought it was a great movie. It's definitely better than all the other ones. yeah you know yeah and it's it's a shame that you fucking losers ran uh zach crager out of this franchise but um but i am i am also kind of glad that stuff like this happens because then it makes me it makes you recognize the loser in yourself i need to i need to leave ryan johnson alone even though i've never gone as hard as y'all did but regardless man i i enjoyed it zach crager in my opinion is three for three i think he's a great director to make a video game movie after making what he's done prior i think he's he's he's awesome and the guy i can't remember the dude's name the main actor the guy that played brian i thought he was fantastic he was also great in euphoria he was also great in um in weapons so yeah all around this was this was this was this was a good movie man this was good it was a good time A lot of fun. And like I said, I have not jumped from a jump scare in at least no bullshit, like 10 years. And this shit made me jump. And if I had to pee, I would have pissed my pants, I bet. Maybe a little bit. I'd have trickled.
00:57:01
Speaker 1: I did. So B and Grandad hit me back. What did they say? Neither one of them have watched it yet. So B's on his way now.
00:57:08
Speaker 3: And Grandad said he's probably going to go see it tomorrow. So I have no answers for y'all right now.
00:57:14
Speaker 2: Well, maybe if y'all harass them, maybe they'll do a little... a little quickie review for us. They should.
00:57:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, they should.
00:57:20
Speaker 2: Being the only two that have played the fucking game, it would be interesting to hear their thoughts. But yeah, let us know y'all's thoughts in the comment section. Are y'all sad that Zack Craig would not be back for more? Or are you glad that he's out of your little loser world? What do you think? And yeah, we will see y'all next time.
00:57:43
Speaker 1: We're out.
00:57:44
Speaker 2: Oh, also, one more thing. Do you think Spike is a big-ass hoe for not going to see this damn movie? And if you do think that Spike is a big-ass hoe for not going to see this movie, make sure you tag his ass on Reddit. I think it's IamSpikeLou, isn't it? IamSpikeLou. That's his name. Tag his ass and tell him, stop being a hoe.
00:58:04
Speaker 1: There's only two scenes I think probably would have got him. He would have been fine.
00:58:07
Speaker 2: He would have been jumping this whole movie. What do you mean?
00:58:10
Speaker 1: Well, maybe the dog. I think the dog. The jump scare in the car.
00:58:13
Speaker 2: I think Spike has seen the food worse.
00:58:15
Speaker 1: I think the earlier parts of the movie probably would have gotten more.
00:58:17
Speaker 2: You think this is the worst that y'all have given? This would have been the worst that Spike would have given? I think that Spike would have just been scared the whole time. Because it's tense. But y'all see, he saw Obsession. He saw Backroom. Obsession wasn't scary. It's not.
00:58:29
Speaker 1: All the ones you were naming are not scary. Yeah.
00:58:32
Speaker 2: You're right, buddy.
00:58:32
Speaker 1: None of them are scary.
00:58:33
Speaker 2: No, Buddy's definitely not scary.
00:58:34
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:58:35
Speaker 2: This shit, I don't even think this shit is scary. I just think that it's creepy. And I think all those jump scares, I think Spike would have had enough. And he probably would have made up some, he probably saw half the movie and went home and just lied and said he never went to go see it. What's a scary movie that you think Spike, a scary movie that y'all reviewed that Spike has probably seen? Have we really? He watched Hereditary, I think. Yeah, he watched Hereditary. And that's probably the scariest one. Yeah, he loves Hereditary. He said he did. Yeah, he said he liked it. It's creepy.
00:59:08
Speaker 3: I don't know if that's really scary.
00:59:10
Speaker 1: Hereditary? Yeah.
00:59:11
Speaker 2: Hereditary is pretty scary. This shit, I am just picturing Spike trying to watch this shit and jumping every couple of minutes. I think Spike doesn't like creepy. Because y'all did Evil Dead.
00:59:24
Speaker 1: True.
00:59:24
Speaker 2: I didn't watch it. Is it scarier than this? No. I don't think Evil Dead The last one, nah. It's probably on the same level. It's probably on the same level. You're right. You're right. You're right. I mean, we both still got hoes in us, but at the same time, I think you selling them short. At least you confronted the hoe in you.
00:59:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right.
00:59:43
Speaker 2: Well, tag his ass anyway, and we will see y'all next time.
00:59:46
Speaker 1: Peace. Peace.
Peace.
