Speaker 1: But it's after six. Good morning to you and welcome to Friday and five Double A Breakfast. It is the twenty seventh of June and we've got a really fun morning ahead, including of course rounding out the morning and the week feedback Friday. Maggie Beer is going to be on the show before eight o'clock. Today's appearing on Master Chef. Good Dear Maggie Beer up at about We can check in with her regularly, one of our beloved interview guests on five Double A Breakfast. So Maggie Beer returning to the small screen very shortly. We will have a good chat with her. An Adelaide planing, this will been frightening. You're coming into Adelaide on the usual descent, You're getting lower and you're getting lower, You're coming into the airport and suddenly the plane veers back towards outer space. That's what happened to people returning for to Adelaide on a Melbourne flight last night because of concern about proximity to another aircraft. We know someone who was on board and we chatting with them. After seven o'clock today we'll get the latest from what's happening overnight in the Middle East, and we're going to hit a review of Katie Pair. Your very own Melacher, who is an entertainment guru, is going to join us with her thoughts on the first of four concerts that took place last night. David Penberthy, good morning to you.
00:01:10
Speaker 2: Good morning listeners, Good morning will Yes, this is the concert that the premiere staged. It only came about because of a chance encounter with Katy Perry at the MCG last year, a Grand Final day in fact, when she was doing the warm up pre match entertainment and she wasn't coming to South Australia. The deal was that the state government agreed to basically be the underwriter of the concert. What was going to be the concert in the event that it didn't sell or that there was some sort of drama that was the only exposure to the taxpayers. The whole thing has been a huge success in so far as four sellout concerts.
00:01:56
Speaker 1: I was just trying to think about that, how many, because Katy brew is a big big name, how many big big names have done four shows in Adelaide. I can think of plenty that they've done two or three. I can't think of any as I can't think of one other that's ever done for Maybe our listeners will be able to think eight double two three double o double or Texas on zero four zero thirty ninety five. Lots of local bands, but get the hardcore fans you go to all of them. Absolutely.
00:02:21
Speaker 2: I wonder if I wonder if any of our listeners or any of our listeners kids are going every night.
00:02:26
Speaker 1: Would be pretty expensive, wouldn't it all four? Crazily expensive?
00:02:30
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:02:30
Speaker 2: I think the cost of living might have killed that one. Yeah, well there's some people who do it though. I can remember years ago. I don't know if she'd been listening to the show now, but one of our listeners was a total bet Middler tragic who had flown overseas multiple times. She seen Bet Middle alive something like seventy times.
00:02:48
Speaker 1: I suppose if you've got the thing you love, you're not therefore spending on a whole bunch of other things that other people love. You know, you can do.
00:02:56
Speaker 2: Some people who in a modest wage but structure their life around a love of golf. H I mean, you're look at how much golf costs. Golf memberships generally are very expensive. Yeah, more expensive than go we prioritize, isn't it. I guess yeah, that's all right.
00:03:12
Speaker 1: The meat tray is provided today by the great people at Marino Meat and Food Store in the Adelaide Central Markets. Marino They're terrific. I love Marino, They're great to have them on board this morning for the meat tray. We'd East Scooters a legal stid in South Australia this week which got us having a conversation about what should and shouldn't be legal on our roads. And the most controversial element of this conversation is makes of cars. What cars should be banned? If if you could ban one make of car from the road, what would it be? Eight double two to three double double or Texas on zero before eight zero thirty ninety five. Now here's the thing about this meat tray. We'll give it to someone. You can be as expansive as you like, or you could just say I think it should be a Barna, right, that doesn't matter. You don't have to if the Brena ever don't know anything. No, I'm just just the first thing that was the most in fact, was the most inoffensive vehicle I could think of.
00:04:08
Speaker 2: I'm not going to prejudice things. I can think of one vehicle that I suspect will come out tops.
00:04:14
Speaker 1: Oh okay, oh, this will be interesting. Eight double two to three double O double. You can have a scientific reason, or you can have just a fun reason, or maybe just it gives you the rates or its drivers do eight double two three double o double?
00:04:25
Speaker 4: Oh?
00:04:26
Speaker 1: Or Texas on zero before eight zero thirty ninety five. If you could ban one make of car from the road, what would it be? You can win yourself that Marino meets wonderful meat drive.
00:04:36
Speaker 2: Lisa in Highbury says Pink tours Australia for months at a time.
00:04:40
Speaker 1: Indeed she does. I think she lives in Sydney over did she do four shows in Adelaide over the American summer? She lives out at Palm Beach and goes kayaking. She does love Australia. She DoD four shows here? Maybe she did. I don't think she's not Adelaide. She didn't know. No, I really genuinely can't think of any non local bands that have performed that frequent. Debbie's sitting through our first text, I got a funny feel of the spot with the vehicle you're thinking of, Ben, Those stupid ram trucks too big for car parks, says Debbie zero four eight zero eight third ninety five. How do you park a ram truck? Oh? Well, you know you could. You couldn't park it? Could could. Surely we've got someone listening who's got one. I think if you've got one, you're the kind of bloke that doesn't have trouble parking cars. You know what I mean? Just park it back up on top of other cars. But aren't they aren't they bigger than a normal car parkspace? If they do, they look like it. Katie pincked in one show in Adelaide, Yeah, when she was last year. Mark in Highbury, good morning. What car should we ban from the road? Good morning, David, will I good? Thank you, Mark good.
00:05:46
Speaker 5: I didn't get rid of the volvos.
00:05:48
Speaker 1: A yeah, any particular reason beyond bloody Volvo drivers.
00:05:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, get rid of the old Grandma grandpark the bowling hats, bowling hats.
00:05:57
Speaker 1: Thank you. Let's go to clemzig Terry which to be banned off the road.
00:06:02
Speaker 6: Gentlemen, I think we should ban the b whyd that builled your dreams because I can see it turned into a freaking nightmare.
00:06:09
Speaker 1: It's come from. Nowhere's the biggest electric car company in the world, now, is it? I think so the Chinese aren't there, Yeah, the Chinese one, And I think I think it's someone of that crept me if I'm wrong. I think they're the company that have undercut the model largely of all electric car companies, including Tesla, and which people have speculated is in part a political move from China. They're just hugely subsidized the vehicles. Even even more recently, I think it's byd and all electric car comans around the road that Tesla's share price racted to it when they made the news going you can't make a car that cheap. Yeah, well maybe if you've got the Chinese government trying to dominate that market takeifts. I think Chinese innovation it's not anything innovation. You just pay people nothing. That's that's the key difference. If you pay people two dollars a day instead of and they work longer, around one hundred and sixty.
00:06:59
Speaker 2: Dollars an hour. Whatever it was that the guys were getting out of holding before the Feds. Eventually, we can't keep propping this thing up. That's that's what innovation looks like in China to be to be generous. That's what people said about Japan too. Originally, when Japan's automatic auto manufacturing sector took off, everyone said all they do is copy cars, copy.
00:07:21
Speaker 1: Whatever else is doing. They don't innovate anything. Well, then they started out that way, they started dominating the space, so it's they did innovate and they did create. You know, so many of the brands that are driving around at the moment a lot.
00:07:33
Speaker 2: Of hostility towards these big four by fours, but particularly the Ram.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: What about this one? Keith Camden Park.
00:07:42
Speaker 2: Keith says, I get rid of Toyota Camry's good luck getting a newber Keith.
00:07:49
Speaker 1: If you got it a Toyota Camris, I reckon you get rid of ten percent of the cameras copy that. Rex has rated the top three to get rid of three Forward Rangers, two Daylight, one Toyota Camri. What's the Toyota Canri. Someone needs to tell us more about the Toyde Camra irritants. This is excellent This topic eight double two three double A doubles extas on zero four eight zero thirty ninety five The car that should be banned from our roads. We'll take more of you. Meet Troy Friday Entry shortly and get to the news headline.
00:08:18
Speaker 7: David Penberthie and Will Goodings. Five double a breakfast.
00:08:22
Speaker 1: Minutes after six. If you got along to Katy Pierry last night, you've got a review for us. We'd love to hear from you. Eight double two to three double o double. Oh is the nubble. We've got a professional on the line who does precisely that is his newsreader. Extraordinary mel Usha, who if you follow her on social media well know, is an entertainment guru. Mel Good morning to you, Good morning guys. What did you make of Katy Perry? Was she had her best?
00:08:44
Speaker 8: Oh, she's Look, this is a fourth time I've seen her.
00:08:47
Speaker 9: I'm a bit of a.
00:08:47
Speaker 8: Katie cat from way back, and she's so much fun. It's always a fun concert.
00:08:53
Speaker 10: You know.
00:08:53
Speaker 8: It's not too deep, it's not it's not big political messages. It's just about the music and and herself. I mean, she is the star because she's got such a great personality. She engages the crowd. You know, she was throwing out pramelo koalos to people and giving them tim tams while she was singing a song last night, you know, just it's just it's a feel good night with Patty Perry, and I think that's what we need sometimes.
00:09:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good escape a Sunmill.
00:09:23
Speaker 2: Hey, we've got images up on the live stream now of the concert last night at the Incent.
00:09:29
Speaker 1: Would you reckon Katie's like four concerts? We can't think.
00:09:32
Speaker 2: We're trying to think of anyone who's ever done four concerts in a row and Adelaide and can't come up with any names, do you.
00:09:39
Speaker 8: The only one kind of in recent times I can sort of think of is Pink and she's sort of got this mega following. Like last time she came, she did Adelaide over and it was a one off kind of thing, but there are other times in previous years where she's come and done sort of multiple nights at the end sent but we don't get a lot of multiple nights at the Incent really, And this was little bit kind of well, this kind of came out of the blue, didn't that. We had the premier who kind of bailed her up at the Grand Final last year and said, hey, do you want to come to you know, you should come to Adelaide, And she actually gave Peter mallanowskas a shout out last night and said, apologize to the crowds for originally leaving Adelaide off the itnery and and said, you know, your premier came over to me at the Grand Final and said, I have to come to Adelaide, So here I am. So that was a nice little shout out because of course we all know that he he was the one that got into town and it was for one show and it turned into what is now going to be four shows. So yeah, that No, we don't see a lot of artists that play multiple nights. So what was the what was the high one that comes to Adelaide in the first place?
00:10:51
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, exactly, And what was what what was the best What was the best song?
00:10:54
Speaker 1: Was it?
00:10:55
Speaker 2: Was it Hot and Cold? Was that the one that got everyone going bz it ah?
00:10:59
Speaker 11: I probably.
00:11:01
Speaker 8: Raw, probably had everyone on their feet and absolutely going berserk and fire work the kind of older Katie Perry songs, I mean, the new ones were popular, but not really as popular as say, I suppose ten years ago, fifteen years ago, and she kind of had the Teenage Dream album and that was the real kind of I suppose that was her real peak. Yeah, I mean I California Girls popular. I kissed a girl. She's got so many hits you kind of forget because she's got goes back away now, you know. I mean the first time I saw it was twenty eleven, So yeah, all of a sudden, she's you know, she's someone who's been around a long time. But boy, she looks amazing. Like she told everyone, Hey, I'm forty and I'm fabulous, and she's proud of it. And her outfits. You know, she must do some she must do some crazy workouts, show itself as a as you work out some crazy outfits. And she looks amazing and she sounded amazing. And I think there's a lot of Katy hate online and I think it seems to be sort of popular these days to I don't know, Kaiti bash a bit, especially after the whole going through Edge of Face thing. But there was a whole entertainment than a full of people last night that were absolutely you know, couldn't get enough of it.
00:12:25
Speaker 1: Well exactly, yeah, Well there's going to be four of them, four lots of it. Mel, Thank you for that was terrific, Mel Lusha, our wonderful news reader, but also she he real loves entertainment and talking about music and movies and so forth, and that was excellent. Thank you for every time this morning meal. Let's take some Metro Friday entries, starting with Dave and South Brighton. Dave, thanks to Marina Meads. What should be which car should be banned from our odes?
00:12:49
Speaker 12: It's not a particular brand, guys, it's more of a type of car. Usually it's an SUV that I've got those horrible led bright headlights, but they're so bright at night. Almost got to look up that song and I wear my sung glasses. They are absolute shockers.
00:13:06
Speaker 1: Thank you seem in Theetherton.
00:13:08
Speaker 13: Good morning, Good morning guys. The car that hogs up the whole road is a stretch limos. You can't park them anywhere. They up the road and there's always rowdy.
00:13:21
Speaker 14: People in them.
00:13:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, stretchers. All right, let's have a look at the weather and we'll get to tom Ren at the moment and reflect on what was a huge win for Port last night against Carlton. That feels like the end of the line for the Blues. Top of fifteen today, heading for sixteen tomorrow on the weekend, maybe a drizzle of rain. Sunday we might get something a little more substantial fifteen the top of up to four mills of rain, potentially most likely in the morning and afternoon. The rain will come on Sunday, then Monday fifteen and just a drizzle fifteen on Tuesday, a really cool night overnight into the Wednesday morning next week a low of just four degrees and then fifteen on Thursday as well. So next week, from Sunday through to Thursday next week, the maximum each and every day is just fifteen degrees. It is truly the teeth of winter we're in at the moment here in South Australia, which does mean right into the teeth of the footy season two and last night, All dear, how would you feel being a blues fan Tom Ren in the five to bla breakfast Studio, Colors, custom Design, anyhouse, any style, glutter or goage doors, glutter dot com Today you Morning, Ready.
00:14:26
Speaker 15: Morning, Wilm, Morning David. Yet it had a bit of a doomsday feel about it this game, didn't it, And we thought maybe pork could be on the end of it. But it all finished up pretty nicely and comfortably. This is how things did wind up last night.
00:14:36
Speaker 1: Siren will go.
00:14:39
Speaker 14: And it does.
00:14:40
Speaker 16: Port Adelaide bounces back to the winner's list in style to keep their fate finals hopes alive. A disastrous night though for the Blues, the story and the spotlight will be all around the coach and the football club after they go down by fifty points to the home side Port Adelaide.
00:14:57
Speaker 15: Yeah, so I think it all turns to Michael Wist, doesn't it, and what happens there. We spoke about it yesterday. There was going to be this fascination, this more bid fascination with whatever happens for the loser and it's particularly bad result.
00:15:09
Speaker 17: They were terrible.
00:15:10
Speaker 1: I'm for the game would be over within half an hour, like it was just they Yeah, it just totally fizzled. Yeah, what did the AFL think of that?
00:15:20
Speaker 2: Like, if you're a neutral like I was out with mates like that, that is the opposite of a gender setting football.
00:15:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, you find.
00:15:28
Speaker 2: You actually try to go out of your way to find something else to do as a neutral fan when you hear that carent and playing port.
00:15:34
Speaker 15: And this is a side that you know some of the experts and look, everyone has an opinion, but quite a few had picked them to make the Grand Final.
00:15:41
Speaker 1: Well, this is the problem is that at the start of the season you might have gone that could be a blockbuster Thursday night, you know, Paulter coming off a pre lim and you know, you can't remember, wasn't Was that a great late win? And the Ken Hickley era? Was it the first winner of the Josh Carrier?
00:15:56
Speaker 15: Good point? Yeah, Ken Hinckley up in the box for the Josh sitting in the front yep. First time in more than two years. Ken was sitting in the coach's box upstairs. And yeah, it's a really good point. I'll tell you what it is showing Mitch Georg Jardi's is putting together a hell of a season. His first half was that's when the game was won. He kicked four goals. As soon as you get some support with Jack La, coaches and others, he's going to be even better. They nursed Jason horn Francis late with the shoulder, so you know.
00:16:24
Speaker 1: That was a luxury to be able to do that. Yeah, that was that was good for them to be to the chance of making the eighth. They've got the toughest straw of any club over.
00:16:31
Speaker 15: Yeah, they've got it Geelong away, Brisbane away. They can probably drop maybe two more games and they've got those two away for example, some other really tough one showdown. Of course, I think it's I'd say it's probably about a ten percent chance. I'd say unlikely, But they took a step in the right direction last night. Brisbane away next week is going to be tough.
00:16:49
Speaker 1: Foot's funny, isn't it. Port have won two fewer games in the Crows doesn't feel it feels like that feels like there's six games, doesn't it. Yeah, I mean it's played one more now with the buy and so just nine wins v seven wins, I know.
00:17:02
Speaker 15: And perhaps it's the gravity of some of the losses they've had.
00:17:06
Speaker 1: Do you think about it?
00:17:06
Speaker 2: Though, Crows kicked one goal less against Port and one goal less against Brisbane.
00:17:13
Speaker 1: They're on the same number of winds. It is a fickle would be a head then, yeah, well of course they would, of course they would. Yeah, it's very very fickle.
00:17:22
Speaker 15: Speaking of fickle, the Assie top order, oh my goodness, suffered a lead of ten runs, so the Windows took a ten run lead, but Australia four for not many in their second.
00:17:31
Speaker 1: Innings yet not quite.
00:17:34
Speaker 15: Sam Constance and was Maguaje are both failing at the top of the order.
00:17:38
Speaker 2: Don't call me consciously got out down on one knee trying and eat the ball back behind his.
00:17:41
Speaker 1: Head or something.
00:17:42
Speaker 15: He didn't but he only made five played and mister Lot got dropped twice and he made fight.
00:17:46
Speaker 1: We're fasting the point. We just need to send the red backs overseas represents, aren't we.
00:17:51
Speaker 15: Well, Jason Sanger.
00:17:53
Speaker 1: Should be Sager absolutely.
00:17:55
Speaker 15: Should be right in the conversation point reading so, yeah, there's there's a few that I think would be putting their hands up Renshaw, Bancroft, a few others at.
00:18:04
Speaker 1: The time, and look at it makes the select this feel better, Jason saying he's originally from New South Wales. Exactly, Queen the Queens, I think South Wales, Yeah, exactly. We can just tell the selectors in company, don't mispick in the Sydney Bloz. Good on your.
00:18:18
Speaker 7: Redax boys, David Penberthie and World Goodings five double a Breakfast, twenty.
00:18:25
Speaker 1: Three minutes of seven, Police and weather coming up this half hour. We should probably do some text, shouldn't we? On zero before eight zero eight thirty ninety five, because I think we started something of a war, or at least gave people that opportunity to do vent some real frustrations with the meat trade this morning, which is thanks to the great people at Marino Meat and Food Store in the Adelaide Central Markets. We're asking you which make of car should be banned from the road. And the thing I like about this topic is the variety of entries we're getting could not be greater. There is people that are irritated in so many different ways. For example, let's get into a let's get into a couple of them. Ban the rams. No one needs at that big or loud compensating for something, says someone Simon says a lot of hate for the Ram today, but I think we should actually get rid of the Suzuki Swift. In fact, the Ram might be able to help with that one bump and the Swift would fold like a deck chair in the breeze. Rod is sticking up for the toy to camera, saying, if you get rid of toyter CAMRA's, you will get rid of all the ubers. Someone here has made the point that Lamborghini's kind of lost their luster of late which I think we'd all agree with. Billy says, the Ford Ranger seems not to come with indicators, or maybe they're really hard to find because drivers don't use them. Simon and Tananda says the Volvo driven by the hat wearing drivers been overtaken by the super room Now mgs especially doing one hundred k in the fastland, says Simon, thank you for that. How about this one from Mark, who's not just slanted a makeof car, but an entire type, He says, Boys, all le trick cars and the pompous tools who drive the pompus pompous Rob wants to know how good mate, Robbie says, is this meat Troy brought to you by extinction Rebellion where every caller is a member and the plan is that all cars on the list will eventually be better? Yeah, this is you get them all off the you've built the cat. This is a styop for you've got a reno, haven't you not at something? French? Yep, she had a free beget with that car. Mat was that part of the deal. Let me tell you something. Nothing comes free with that card. My goodness, a nightmare.
00:20:30
Speaker 2: You've got to get the al Qaeder entry level Toyota highlights white, no safety, thanks reading and Bolton machine gun onto the back.
00:20:38
Speaker 1: You can take the when you're planning a government, you can't spare any expense if you're trying to get you and twenty seven Mexican mates over the border. Every dollar account. They're very practical cars. They work, not mar Toyota wants. But you know it won my heart when I saw it in the showroom. Yeah, I know, I know you love that. That vehicle. We love Jess Adamson, who does a wonderful job bringing the news for us hosting big events around there. Did you go to Katy Perry last night?
00:21:02
Speaker 18: I sure did? What a show?
00:21:05
Speaker 1: Wow? It was so speaks the first time I've seen it.
00:21:07
Speaker 19: It was actually and I'm really kind of not a massive Katy Perry fan, but my daughter Sophie is. So we were there and it was just entertainment from beginning to end, so spectacular, incredible dancers, you know, video graphics.
00:21:22
Speaker 1: It was just it was just on what was the crowd?
00:21:24
Speaker 2: Like, Jess, because we're talking to me earlier she made the point. In fact, I think it was when Master Chef launched, which was in about twenty ten, Hot and Cold had just come out and it was the theme song for Master.
00:21:35
Speaker 1: Cheff still Is of course. Yeah, so she's been around for a while, Yes she has.
00:21:38
Speaker 2: Was it one of those crowds that was like, there are a lot of young girls, but then there are a a lot of mums in their thirties and forties like.
00:21:45
Speaker 19: You absolutely and I love that you've said I'm in my forties, thanks Pamber.
00:21:49
Speaker 18: And she's called out the mums last night.
00:21:50
Speaker 19: Actually she did a lot of love for the mums at the concert, but there were there were lots of mums. In fact, one was pulled onto the stage along with three young girls who got to sing with her.
00:22:00
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:22:00
Speaker 18: And there was a moment.
00:22:01
Speaker 19: Where Katie picked out a little girl in the crowd called Grace, who she'd met a few years ago. She had a brain tumor and Katie Perry actually went to the little girl's house and they reunited last night. And then there was this great local kid called Keegan who contacted her on social media and somehow got onto the stage last night and just wowed the crowd with a series of.
00:22:21
Speaker 18: Backflips and dancers. He stole the show. It was brilliant cool.
00:22:26
Speaker 1: That's sensational.
00:22:27
Speaker 18: It was very cool.
00:22:28
Speaker 1: Now you've got a really important lunch coming up to your hosting drought breaker that this features some fantastic guests we have.
00:22:34
Speaker 19: We are really excited about this. So this is the ra and HS effectively the show of course, along with Rule Aid and Rural.
00:22:41
Speaker 18: Business Support, who are putting on a drought breaker lunch on July the eighteenth.
00:22:47
Speaker 19: And we've got the wonderful Jess Stinson obviously Calm Games gold medalist as one of our speakers. We've got John Schumann entertaining us. But Jess's connection to this obviously she grew up in the country at narraw Court. She knows resilience more than anyone. But her sister Abby actually lives on a property at Oru up North and Orroru is one of those places that hasn't had any rain. And I don't know if you saw Casey Trelaw's story on the Weekend Will, but it just showed just you know, we've had some rain recently, but one or two rains does not end this drought, and the effects of this drought are going to be felt.
00:23:23
Speaker 18: For so long.
00:23:24
Speaker 19: And so this lunch is you know once again just to shout out from you know, all of us in the city to say we are still thinking of you all, and we're going to raise money for some financial counseling, for food and fuel vouchers for mental health and wellbeing. We've got some great support, brilliant to have John Schumann in the room, and we are expecting several hundred people. So tickets are still on sale www. Dot TheShow dot com dot au. But we'd love as many people as possible to help us and get behind it, because I think we're all feeling a bit helpless. There's not a lot we can do to make a rain, but we can do this.
00:23:59
Speaker 2: Dove titles nicely with the other work you've done with Breakthrough and all that, Jess, Because it is it's a it's a it's an economic issue, but it's as much, if not more, a mental health issue for a lot of people on the land, isn't it.
00:24:11
Speaker 18: It really is, And you know you you see it.
00:24:14
Speaker 19: You know everybody thinks, you know the farmer, you know, often the male of the family who's feeling the stress, but actually there's a there's an enormous load on on the wife who's also working on the property, but carrying the emotional stress of all of this.
00:24:28
Speaker 18: So this is breakthrough.
00:24:30
Speaker 19: Has actually been just signed up by the state government to go out into the curves to provide some of this support to our farmers, which is great, but you know they need a lot of help and they will for years to come.
00:24:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, totally great stuff. Chests catch up, right, have you in? All right? Lots more texts coming through with regard to cars that should be ban from the road. This one says the Hyundai Kona ugliest car ever. Looks like they forgot where to put the rear lights on. Oh well, let's just stick them on the side, says the text. Speaking of a car aesthetics, Steve says, get rid of the Nis and cube. Stupid car that looks.
00:25:07
Speaker 2: Like a car that was drawn by a child doing grade too, doesn't it, which is like the listen thenis and cube looks like a rectangle with the square on top of it.
00:25:16
Speaker 1: Looks a bit like something out of Tron Tron Tron.
00:25:22
Speaker 2: That was that computer movie, wasn't it. Yeah it came out in the eighties. Yeah it was readymade, but they were all on motorcycles. But everything had that sort of angular kind of I never already got into sci fi.
00:25:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a real gap in your movie watching not after we walk down on Star Wars, they declaring this is never going to catch on, that that made no cultural footprint whatsoever. That's right.
00:25:43
Speaker 2: Dave in Alberton says, I'm not getting rid of anything, but I am bringing back the Ford falcon YEP, it was a good car, the original one, I presume, not the not the eighties Boaty Model.
00:25:54
Speaker 1: And Pink performed, according to Michael, six times in two thousand and nine, six times, and it sounds like it looks like two different sets, late May and early August. The August run was four shows. Michael, thank you for that. We're wondering how many big nam international acts have ever performed four times.
00:26:14
Speaker 2: In Adelaide, Wendy and Gaula says, this is all very entertaining or cars on the road, but I am more angry about the scooters that are going to be on the road. What about insurance cover? What an imposition this will be in so many ways? Who wanted to sanction this and why?
00:26:28
Speaker 1: Says Wendy. Fair questions, Good on you, Wendy, all right, kep coming in here zero eight thirteen ninety five or call in and whin yourself a meat trade. No better way to start your weekend than with Marino meets meat tray eight double two three at double o double We'll check traffic and come back with police and weather in just a moment. Lynn Andrews Real Estate Experts in commercial residential Property, Lynnandrews dot Com dot Au, David.
00:26:50
Speaker 7: Penberthy and World Goodings five double a Breakfast.
00:26:53
Speaker 1: Eleven minutes to seven. Carlton fans haven't reacted well to their big loss last night to Port Adelaide. The Carlton training ground has been defaced with a giant spray painted message to the club sack the board, written on the written on the wall there. So I reckon that's actually the right call because how many great football minds has that organization tued through over the years. It's just extraordinary the role call of people have been there, like Ratton and Moldhouse, Voss Voss was absolutely brilliant football. What do they do to these people? They're just Dennis Pagan, Brett Ratt and Mick Mouldhouse. Yeah, Pagan, Brendan Bolton, David T Michael Voss, like at some point in time. It's not the coach. It's the people that picked the coach, and it's people that employ the list management, and it's people that set the culture for the entirety of the club.
00:27:48
Speaker 2: It's just that club is a magnet for a certain type of Melbourne rhymes with anchor, don't you think.
00:27:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, two actosses. They are just a packet tofts. I think it's always managed to escape this, but Carlton gets sucked into this vortex of being a big Melbourne club. You get written about a lot because you sell a lot of papers and so forth. But they seem to buy into the idea that they're always better than they are.
00:28:12
Speaker 2: Well, there's a certain type of bike in Australia who gets ahead not because he's smart, because he went to the right school. And Carlton epitomizes that there's something about it. Just that club rubs me up the wrong way. Yeah, it just attracts all these he Henry's and well they're not good at making a foot they're not making they're not good at building a successful football club.
00:28:30
Speaker 1: Let's head to the weather Bureau. Jenny horvad Is on Judy This Morning Morning. Do you Jenny, Good morning, guys. What's this weekend going to be like?
00:28:37
Speaker 20: Oh, look, it's a little bit of a mixed bag on the on the weekend. So today we've got that low cloud out. There could be a little bit isolated fog about the hills, but that should disappear relatively quickly. And again with that cloud around, maybe a few spots not out of the question about the about the hills, probably more likely than the city, but we're not expecting anything of no currently ten degrees At the West Terrace night appear of observation site, we did see a minimum temperature of around eight degrees at around two am, and we're aiming for fifteen degrees to the city and suburbs for today, including Mount Barker, So again a bit of a similar start for Saturday. There we've still got that high.
00:29:11
Speaker 21: Pressure system to the east keeping things relatively stable. We're looking at a maximum temperature in the city of around sixteen degrees. It's around seven for a minimum. Again, a little bit of cloud around, so a few spots on the hills not out of the question, but more likely to see a shower or two on Sunday with the passage of a trough moving through there, but we're not expecting those totals to be overly high either. Just a bit of use and value if you are out and about on Sunday again, that maximum temperature around fifteen degrees and as we head on into Monday, maybe a little bit of a foggy start again, probably more likely around the hills. Still the slight chance of some showers, but again probably some light showers on the hills on Monday there around fifteen degrees and looks like fifteen the temperature as we continue into the week with those partly cloudy conditions there.
00:29:54
Speaker 1: Guys, good Jenny, folks, let's sad to say, pols and it comes to a Holly Frisbee joins us Holy Police are investigating a hit run crash at Gaula South.
00:30:03
Speaker 22: Yeah, good morning, David Andwell Emergency Services responded to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on thirteenth Street at Gula South just before seven o'clock lass night. And we do ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any dash cam or CCT footage that may assist to contact crime stoppers on one eight hundred, triple three, triple zero.
00:30:44
Speaker 2: Horrible stuff and hollly. This next one's unpleasant too. A poor bike has been assaulted while working at a convenience store. But the good news is that you've got the person.
00:30:52
Speaker 1: Who did it.
00:30:53
Speaker 22: That's correct. Police were called to Wright Street just before eight thirty last night to reports of a disturbance at a city convenienced or it will be alleged a man entered the store stole items before returning to the store and breaking a window. He then assaulted the store worker with a piece of glass, causing minor damage a sorry minor injuries to the worker.
00:31:13
Speaker 10: Police were quickly.
00:31:14
Speaker 22: Unseene search in the area and located the suspect on West Terrace. The twenty five year old man from Yalta was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, theft and property damage and He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates' Court at a later date.
00:31:28
Speaker 1: And just lastly, Holly p ed Bomber has claimed a victim.
00:31:32
Speaker 22: Yeah that's correct. Good work from p D Bomber. Just after nine o'clock last night, police were called to Goodwood Road to reports of an intruder being spotted on a construction site. Patrols, with the assistance of Dog Operations Unit, p D Bomber searched the site, locating a thirty three year old man from Clovelly Park. He was hiding within an air conditioning unit whilst also being in possession of gardenshears. The man was arrested and charged with unlawfully on premises and possessed an article to commit an offense. He has also been bowed to it appear in the Adelaide Registrates Court at a later day.
00:32:03
Speaker 2: Great work by p D Bomber. There have a great weekend, Holly. Holly Frisbee from Saypol. Thank you all right.
00:32:07
Speaker 1: Let's go from Sapol to the Middle East. Eddie Edward Godfrey for nine News in Europe is currently in Tel Aviv in Israel. Edward, good morning to you mate, ceasefire holding. What's life like in Tel Aviv at the moment?
00:32:24
Speaker 9: Life tel Aviv is slowly returning back to normal. Guys, we're in day three now. This seas fire Day one was absolute chaos. There was some disagreement and conjecture over when the seas I was supposed to come in. It was a mad flurry of attacks. Israel hammering Tehran and then I ran sending over a wave after wave of missiles, with everyone here running to the shelters every half an hour there throughout the morning. But then as we know, Donald Trump got on the phone, got involved and told Prime Minister Benny Menesniao who to turn the jets around, headed towards the run, and the as far appeared back on. So it was a bit nervous but to start there on day one, but things are slowly returning to normal. More people out in about, businesses reopening. Went out to a restaurant yesterday they had to close the entire time because they don't have a bombshelter close enough for customers and the staff to go in airspace reopening, commercial flights resuming and cars back out in the road again. So around tel Aviv and through much of the country things are back to normal, but then down and Gaza things continuing very much so intentionally starting to return there an hour as well.
00:33:32
Speaker 1: Good stuff any you stay safe, Eddie Godfrey there for nine years in the Middle East. All right, let's take some more meat trap for Friday entries. Find out which car should be banned from the road. We've got the wonderful Marino meat and food store meat trade to give away from the Adelaide central markets, Adam and angel Villa. What car should be banned from the road?
00:33:54
Speaker 23: Absolutely a cap save the mate minders keeps cought, you know, getting its name for itself being a crack sever for the simple an offences going all the time.
00:34:02
Speaker 1: It's just you know, seven star safety. About the safety features in Terry and Kapunda. Good morning, Good morning, gentlemen.
00:34:12
Speaker 24: The first car that came in one morning with them.
00:34:14
Speaker 25: But while I was waiting, like googled it and they came in in the worst cars in the world, and I just want to read you what they said about it. The Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda. The distinction between these evil brands is simple. Audi is the pig in lipstick of the Volkswagen stable, which targets, affluent, chronic masturbators.
00:34:41
Speaker 1: Colorful review Terry a very flint evocative Huey in Gaula, good morning, Yeah.
00:34:48
Speaker 5: Good morning guys.
00:34:49
Speaker 26: Yeah. Mine's in particular those silver vans by Andis.
00:34:55
Speaker 14: I think they are in particular the ones of the three cameras inside.
00:34:59
Speaker 23: I think the from the side of the road.
00:35:02
Speaker 1: Good stuff, Hughie, Thank you, Huey. It's three minutes to seven eight double two three, double O double O is Anambia. You can text us on zero before zero eight thirty nine Downey five as well. Stay with us. We'll chat with someone was on board this flight that did a double take effectively coming into Adelaide. It was had a proximity issue with another plane, was forced to go around and have another crack. So we'll chat with someone who was on board. There, we'll head. We'll take you to Carlton the side of this, the vandalism of the Carlton Football Club trade training center after seven o'clock as well. I reckon it was Phil. It's Phil in Melbourne. I think Phil Curry needs to be Victorian police need to just keep an eye out for Phil. I'll tending with text during the seven o'clock news and find out where he is. Also Michael Packy in the Nation's capital. And Maggie Beer.
00:35:47
Speaker 7: That's all the head next our David Penberthy and Will Goodings five double a breakfast, Light.
00:35:52
Speaker 1: After seven and good morning two of you're joining us for the very first time on this Friday, the twenty seventh of June. Big hour ahead. Maggie Beer is going to join us on the program. We're off to Canberra to chat with Michael Packy Stephen Rose not too far away. We're also going to chat with someone who was on board this plane. Now there's this area of the use of the English language that I always get a real chuckle out of. It's it's the really sort of benign language used to describe something that's quite objectively terrifying. For example, people that are on board quite as flight QFA six nine seven from Melbourne to Adelaide missed their final approach after a lack of separation with another aircraft on the runway. Lack of separation, lack of separation, they were in danger of crashing into another plane. Okay, why normal people, but discriver, I like to keep your plane separated. I always like to keep the plane separated.
00:36:41
Speaker 2: That should be the aim, you know, as the offspring famously said, you've got to keep you separated.
00:36:46
Speaker 1: That's what you've got to do. Well, thankfully they did in this case. Everything worked right. So this was this was thwarted, this potential concern. They flew past it Adelaide oval and then just sort of went around and had another crack because the plane was in the way. We chatting with someone who was on board that very very shortly. One disaster that was not avoided was the Carlton Football Club being dismantled by Port Adelaide last night. People familiar with the five double A coverage, no after the game, when disaster strikes, talkback gets willing. Well, there's a special category of willing that happens sometimes when things get so bad the talk back can't wait till after the game. Have I listened to three aw last night? Who opened the phones during the halftime interval? Yeah?
00:37:31
Speaker 9: Well I'm not.
00:37:33
Speaker 23: I'm not well twenty eight years old.
00:37:36
Speaker 27: I've seen nothing.
00:37:37
Speaker 28: Do you understand?
00:37:38
Speaker 5: Words like to support?
00:37:40
Speaker 28: How are we so stopped?
00:37:42
Speaker 5: Our players are getting knocked in the head.
00:37:44
Speaker 23: There, knocked in the head.
00:37:45
Speaker 29: There, No one's.
00:37:46
Speaker 10: There, not for his.
00:37:48
Speaker 9: No, mate, you know what, I am his close.
00:37:51
Speaker 30: I am so close to going for Collingwood.
00:37:55
Speaker 1: That was a little snippet of halftime. How good are those calls?
00:38:00
Speaker 2: The best thing on on Double A. I'm not not detracting from the excellent of the commentary will, but the calls afterwards after a bad loss, this is just so wild.
00:38:10
Speaker 1: Well, the the calls were unbelievable. Right throughout the night. Things got even more ugly though after the game. Icon Park has been defaced with graffiti. The full messages an intriguing one. The graffiti says, sack the board, keep voss the eye now very much being directed towards the people running the club as opposed to people running the football program.
00:38:34
Speaker 2: Well, seriously, Leak sayers, Well what about Blake. I'm not going to say what I was going to say. Let's let's amateur.
00:38:44
Speaker 1: Photographer looks yeah, don't do that. Let's head to Melbourne. Now? Is the Stashkowski Stashkovski? Should I say? Joins us from the Today Show at icon Park? Is a good morning to you?
00:38:54
Speaker 31: Good morning guy?
00:38:54
Speaker 19: Tell you?
00:38:55
Speaker 1: Well, well, so just are there people around? Is this becoming something of a spectacle? Could you just sort of capture for us. The feeling in Melbourne in outon this morning following what transpired last night.
00:39:08
Speaker 31: It absolutely is becoming inspexible. So we've rocked up here very early. Security guards said there's been a bit of vandalism. Cops have told me that about one am someone has come here and vandalized the wall just here at Carden HQ. So as you say it says sack, the board keeps off. It also says sack often and Lloyd so the footy manager and the list manager, and then it says PDK yes or no at the moment. Now there's a park right next to it, so there's heaps of people who are walking their dogs coming over to see what's going on, and two council workers have just ropped up. They're high pressure hosing off all of that signage. It's going to take them quite a while because it's pretty big. There's also plenty of security cameras in the area and a few pubs nearby, so we're kind of theorizing someone's watched the game, they're feeling pretty emotional and maybe they've come here. They might have already had a bottle of spray paint and they've just made their voice heard in this way.
00:40:03
Speaker 1: Are there police looking into this iSER.
00:40:06
Speaker 31: Yeah, yeah, so police are investigating. They've got an appeal for information, so they know what happened about one am, and I no doubt they'll be looking through all of those CCTV cameras that are here. We've got plenty of vision of it as well, and so they'll be doing all of that work. But at the moment, of course, the club has been in Adelaide, so they'll be coming back home to this.
00:40:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, coming back on to a storm as a thanks for that is Ashkowski.
00:40:30
Speaker 2: It's not something you get in Argentina after like Boka Junior's defair or something. Isn't it like it's got a rule Latina quality to it.
00:40:37
Speaker 1: That's is a Stashkovsky icon park for the Today Show. I'm just the people that don't know the TDK make a decision. Component of this relates to Tom Deakoney, who's probably one of the real rising stars of the football club, but has been linked heavily sink Kilda with a huge, multi ear multi million dollar deal that frankly, under these the current circumstances, I'd be stunnedy around at Carlton and doesn't make the move.
00:41:03
Speaker 2: I'm just texting that link to the Channel nine story about the vandals in the field with the with the question you're not you wouldn't happen to be in Melbourne, would you, mate?
00:41:12
Speaker 1: Yeah? I think you could sol pick poles. You could get them to close the case on that one. There was a case closed about twenty four hours ago, just after eight thirty we got the really pleasant news through that Alfredo the Maremma had been found. This is this beautiful dog that had been stolen, not lost, quite obviously stolen from our next guest, Torre Berdinardi, who joins us on five double a breakfast a tore. Good morning to you.
00:41:36
Speaker 26: Good morning guys. How are you.
00:41:37
Speaker 2: We're very good. Thank you, Toro. It must have been very stressful couple of days for you.
00:41:42
Speaker 26: Oh yeah, absolutely yeah. Alfredo was a stolen on on Tuesday early morning was around one pm at one am, and finally we found him yester morning.
00:42:01
Speaker 2: How did he actually get returned to you? Did you find him on the street or do you think somebody?
00:42:07
Speaker 26: Yeah, we through the security gum O our neighbor. We we get information about who stolen Alfredo, so we we was able to understand and see a plate number of her car. And yeah, through the power of the social we get very important information. A personal conducted me two days ago, message me in the nighttime and say that someone I have seen a dog very stressed with the lady working in Trinity Garden area. That is a suborn not far away from my own. And yesterday morning, I wake up very early, start to target monitoring the area, this Stubburn Trinity Garden and suddenly I found a are that was matched to the description over the teeth with the plat and umber. I just packed my car closer to this house and Alfredo was in the front yard.
00:43:11
Speaker 1: Oh wow, Yeah, how happy was elfreda when he saw you? Again?
00:43:16
Speaker 23: Absolutely it was a party for him.
00:43:20
Speaker 26: Yeah, recognized that I stopped my guard literally fifty six meters far away from the proverty of the thief, and suddenly Alstrado understood the straightaway that I was around there. Yeah, really started very very yeah.
00:43:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, are the police going to talk to this guy?
00:43:42
Speaker 26: Police came there and arrest did this This woman is a woman of fifty three years old.
00:43:51
Speaker 1: A fifty three year old woman stole you dog? Do you know how I told her, had I how she took the dog in the first place.
00:43:59
Speaker 26: Yeah, through the security camera on my neighbors, so we were seen that she was a monitoring a target the area for the past to two weeks and always. Yeah, this is a bad because she always was waiting for me that there was a living home. And yeah, unfortunately between my neighbor and my piece of all ended, there is a back on the block, so she was gett advantage is the bag and the block to arrive near the fence where radio where alph fred is.
00:44:34
Speaker 1: Well, that's frightening. Well, we're so glad that Freda is back with you to thank you so much for this morning to Bertanati, who is the owner of Alfredo, the beautiful Maremma the dog. It's frightening. So someone's checking his place out repeatedly, scoping it out and planning to dog nap.
00:44:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's extremely This This animal shows the power technology these days, doesn't it.
00:44:57
Speaker 1: Well, you know what, it's actually a good story about social media, this one. Yeah, totally. People willing to help out and coordinate really easily to find someone who was doing the wrong thing could have the dog back in the Torday's hands. Last night the Premier would have been his he is were either burning or he would have been alerted to the fact that Katy Perry gave him a bit of a shout out during her concert last night. The first of four at the entertainment said to have a listend.
00:45:24
Speaker 27: Wasn't on the dorket to come to the entire sea.
00:45:29
Speaker 1: I was thinking, but you can have a little grace.
00:45:32
Speaker 18: Everybody makes understee that's how.
00:45:34
Speaker 1: We know a human.
00:45:37
Speaker 28: But I was actually doing a performance at the AFL and this guy.
00:45:44
Speaker 18: And he's like a big deal.
00:45:45
Speaker 2: He's like the premiere or something.
00:45:49
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that guy, that guy that's right here in the premier, mister Peters. He got a clear out. So there you go. That's how it happened. We got some good reviews of the show earlier on in the first hour as well, so if you got a long we'd love to hear from you also. Eight double two three A double A double O. Let's check traffic when we come back when I take you on board this flight that did a fly around last night because of what was that wonderful turn of phrase, like of separation when other aircraft on the runway where you want to maintain separation at all times, went on board a plane, so we'll talk about that and Stephen Roe's going to join us. Lots going on in the world of football, as you've just heard first traffic, though, enjoy your outdoor area all the year around with an opening and closing groof design manufactured and installed locally by Louverhu David.
00:46:41
Speaker 7: Penberthie and World Goodings five double a Breakfast twenty.
00:46:45
Speaker 1: Three after seven. I think to see out the Australians, there's no more routine version of air travel than the Melbourne Adelaide flight. Yeah, people have probably done it multiple times in their life. For footy, it's it's like catching a bus, except except last night. Q flight six nine seven Melbourne back to Adelaide missed its final approach because of a lack of separation with another aircraft on the runway. Thought sounds very pleasant when they put it that way, doesn't it. Jemma Jones, the editor of the Advertiser, was on board that flight. Jem A, good morning to you, Hello, jem I reckon.
00:47:18
Speaker 2: The only thing worse than going to an off site work planning day he would be flying back from one and almost having a head on collision with another plane.
00:47:27
Speaker 10: I was gonna say it was all very it was. It was good to be coming back. You're right, it was all very routine. An hour in which flowed over the oval. The pilot had confessed to being a Katie Perry fan, and that his wife and daughter at the entertainment sent that as well, we've done all of that rover mile end. You know, I feel like I'm in the castle when you look down on those last houns or the runway and think, you know, they down there sort of bartering over the trading posts. But we got to that point and then suddenly it was just sort of full engines, you know, flaps her up, the wheels are up, and we're heading for skywards again. And yeah, there's that that sort of moment you're thinking this is not right, and everyone's looking around the plane saying we're taking off again, what's happening. But the captain was great. I mean, in addition to being a Katie Perry fan, he was an absolute flying eighth. And once we got to hire altitude, he to get on to say that being a misapproach because air traffic control had underestimated how slow the previously landing plane would be getting off the runway. Really quite disconcerting. I've got to say I.
00:48:30
Speaker 1: Had a rear ender.
00:48:32
Speaker 9: Yes, So how.
00:48:34
Speaker 1: Little did it all take in the end, Jemma, once you had to do the new approach and circle overhead, I was like ten.
00:48:39
Speaker 10: Minutes and only a couple where we did know what was going on, and I think it was it was quite joyous for any port fans because we flew over the oval again to watch them killing Carlton. But freddye Carlton fans on board it was quite painful.
00:48:51
Speaker 1: I think, oh, well, what a day for them. Unbelievable.
00:48:54
Speaker 2: Certainly was good on your gym. Great story, Jemma, thank you for joining us. Jemmy John's editor The Advertiser. So once you've once you've made it over my land, you you literally you know meters off the ground, you're not mes off the ground. You you know you're almost there.
00:49:11
Speaker 1: Everyone on board would have known at that moment something has gone wrong here, which is not a feeling. Have you ever been on a flightplane that pulled out of a landing No, I don't think I have. I did one, and it was coming back from Sydney, Adelaide flight that pulled out, But that was in a storm and the plane came in and the wind that was just starting to move, and the pilot.
00:49:29
Speaker 17: But I've always got that incredibly relaxed tones. Yea, ladies and gentlemen. Obviously we had to have bought that landing. We're going to fly out over Golson Vincent and turn around and try it again.
00:49:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, but thank god they have. Could you MEAs enough to friend or people? They said, Holy hell, could you e belate that we're almost we're almost all dead? Oh my goodness? What's the greater lane line? And flying high?
00:49:49
Speaker 2: I don't want to all lame anybody, but is there anybody on board he knows how to land a plane?
00:49:54
Speaker 7: Stephen right on five double a breakfast?
00:50:00
Speaker 1: The Cartain football club? They're asking, is anyone who knows how to run a football club at the moment? Certainly that's what the graffiti on the walls outside would seem to suggest. Following their spanking on that about the hands of port Adelaide last night, Stephen Roe, good morning to you, bet.
00:50:15
Speaker 23: My will, good morning. I reckon a plane crashes up there with a crocodile attack. They would be both horrific wol May God.
00:50:22
Speaker 2: Ye, well, Bob Kata said, you know, I'm not going to waste another second talking about it.
00:50:32
Speaker 1: Hey what about Carlton? That was just dismal, wasn't it.
00:50:34
Speaker 23: Oh my god? They are Look, they're not good. They're worried for I feel for Vossy. They're trying hard. I don't know whether it's a combination of coaching and talent, or they're disengaged, or the message is not getting through, or I'm dubbing Port the new jacculine height of the AFL. Their best last night with goal they're worst, not so and even from week to week, even from quarter to quarter, they can change. That was a back to the wall game and we build it. Timy and I pre match Countleers as much to lose and gain as Port did. So both you think would bring the heat, bring the pressure and bring their a game. One did, the other one didn't it but to smack them by fifty points, goodness gracious to me. And again when Butters and Rosy get thirty birds twenty five at a goal Gee Mitchie Georgia addisons announcement, Rowie.
00:51:26
Speaker 1: What did it mean to you as someone who's watched footy their whole lives and played footing being involved. What was the significance of seeing Ken back in the box and Josh car sitting in front row. Was it anything?
00:51:37
Speaker 23: I wouldn't read too much into it. I know a lot of people make something of it. They had to do something. I don't know whether it's a change, whether it just to please people, whether he thought, look, I'll just go up there and see what it's like in game. Remember he doesn't when he's on the bench, he's engaged with the group. You can hear all the conversations. You can put his hands on. Guarantee you when he puts his hands on any speech, he's telling them what to do. So people that think when he's on the beach he's not coaching, when he's upstairs, he is, that's just a load of crap. He's got his hands on that control. That was a portant. We interviewed Ken before the game and I was spoke him about the difference between the best and his worst, and his consistency in quarter to quarter. I literally spoke him about He said, the common thread to it is either we bring the pressure or we don't. We'll know in the first five minutes well they did, and they bought the pressure. And I said, can I hope I see a Ken Hinkley DNA type of game? That was a Ken Hintley DNA type of game.
00:52:33
Speaker 1: But you agree completely.
00:52:36
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:52:37
Speaker 2: So it was a four quarter effort which they've been struggling to piece together as well.
00:52:41
Speaker 1: So hard hard to keep the pressure up, the momentum up when you have a start like that as well. The game's over.
00:52:48
Speaker 23: Our game over five goals, and I think, God, but how again, how bad it come? I builded a popcorn game, no matter who one who lost, it was just going to be oh boy, more sole, thanks, get our hand in that tub and have a good old chomp on it. Hepe crows peopling in pebbler out managed, which I found interesting. We spoke to DV about that. The only knowedible change B Smith likely to start the twenty two, which will mean learning stuff. I'm going to ask both of you this question. When's the last time you said, even either in your head public to friends, that we have Richmond at the MCG. This will be like shelling.
00:53:29
Speaker 1: Pele when was a great question?
00:53:33
Speaker 23: Well, I to you mine.
00:53:35
Speaker 1: I Reckon Kane Johnson was playing for him.
00:53:37
Speaker 23: Probably No, twenty seventeen grand fo.
00:53:41
Speaker 1: I've scrubed that event from the memory.
00:53:44
Speaker 23: And I still haven't learned this should be.
00:53:47
Speaker 1: Here's the difference. They were good then and they're garbage now.
00:53:50
Speaker 23: So I think it's a difference their garbage. So let's see the maturity. Let's see how they prepare, Let's see what they dish uplook on any given day. I know what people up and down the phone. Now, any team can beat any team, but not the Crows. Now, I think they're I think they're close.
00:54:06
Speaker 1: If you can't beat Richmond this year, you're not You're not a serious team.
00:54:10
Speaker 23: Remember the Richmond game last year when they lost and I imploded.
00:54:15
Speaker 1: And the Crows were bottom fall last year, they had a serious team.
00:54:17
Speaker 2: That was the day of the state budget last year, because we had all our budget coverage planned for the next day and we tore it up just for a three zero bag and the club, Hey, hang.
00:54:27
Speaker 23: On, I haven't got it in me to do that again. So please Crows win, because I've got a production piece for no other but when we're in that and guarantee it will go number one.
00:54:39
Speaker 1: This is the legendary production piece, all right, Win for the production piece Good.
00:54:45
Speaker 7: David Penberthie and Will goodis five double a Breakfast.
00:54:49
Speaker 1: Maggie Beer is not too far away? Where is Love? Chatting with Maggie Beer on the program. She's going to be fronting a new Mastershift challenge in this terrific season they've got at the moment. It's a lot of fun as well. We'll get Maggie's thoughts on that and all of our philosophies on the kitchen because I think they come out in this change. It's going to be really interesting. One that's coming up also in an hour's time feed Back Friday. We round the week out in the usual way and give all stack of great prizes to our listeners. The other thing, we're doing meat Tray Friday thanks to Marino meets at the Central Market asking which car brand should be banned from the road. You don't have to be scientific about it. We've got rid of about half the cars on the road so far. I think anyone earlier it was some sort of Zooki swifts. We're operating this morning on behalf of Extinction Rebellion Rams. The rams have gone, rams are done. Citrons yep cam. Someone had a crack at Oudi's surprised by that is your great cars. Everyone's got a beef against at least one cars my theory, and that's why this meat Troy is working beautifully. Let's head to Canberra, Zach to Silver for nine Radio joins is z that good morning to you.
00:55:54
Speaker 28: Good morning guys. Can I add a car to your list?
00:55:56
Speaker 1: Go for it?
00:55:57
Speaker 28: But those really poor one with the really bright LED lights that blast into your rear view mirror, it's blinding.
00:56:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, We've had a call earlier from someone saying these cars were the LED lights that are blinding. That's a real rating out there. Good ones. Zach. You're in the running to win the meat train, mate. We'll send it to Canbra if you win. Zach.
00:56:15
Speaker 2: I would have thought, as a journo trying to find a park on the Senate entrance side to camera where the press galleries, you might have picked comm cars getting in your way.
00:56:25
Speaker 28: It's funny. A couple of months ago, some journos apparently raised some concerns about not being able to get parked in the Senate entrance and this was escalated through the Press Gallery Committee, and it turned out there was some Department of Parliamentary Services staff as parking there and the concerns were taken to the department, and rather than the departments saying okay, you'll have to park elsewhere, they moved. It was something like fifty staff to entirely different building just so that we could have more parking. It was bizarre.
00:56:54
Speaker 1: Well what about that? Unbelievable, Hey, Zach, It's rare that talk back radio in so many cap pus across the world could simultaneously be having the same debate. Would matter if you're in Berlin, Madrid, London or Adelaide, Australia. We we'd all ask this question, what is our government going to do about US demands to increase defense spending? Do you think?
00:57:13
Speaker 28: Yeah? And I mean that's the million, multimillion dollar question at the moment. Really, the US has been pushing very hard for its allies to increase defense spending. It's specifically said that it wants Australia to get to three and a half percent of GDP. Now the context where a bit over two percent at the moment. It would be around about forty billion dollars a year extra for US to get to that three and a half percent. At the moment, it doesn't seem like the government is keen to go there. It's less the door open. But every time you ask a government minister should we the increasing defense spending, they go, well, we've already increased defense spending a little bit, and they have by about ten billion dollars. But there's more, obviously that the US would like us to do. It makes it hard for the government to keep mounting this argument when earlier this week NATO member countries We're not a member of NATO, but we're a partner. The members of NATO pretty much all of them agreed to increase their defend sventy to five percent of GDPs, but it's significantly higher, and that's mostly because of the threat of Russia. Europe is obviously very worried about that. And then this morning with her Caroline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, again reiterates saying well, if our allies in NATO can increase their defense spending, then our allies in the Pacific, specifically Australia. She was referring to Pan as well. So this will be an ongoing debate and I expect the government will probably have to come down somewhere in between. I think this long term push from the White House is like, surely it's not sustainable for US to keep saying to the White House, no, we're not going to do any more. But it will be interesting to see where the government lands on this issue, given the increasing military build up in the Pacific, China becoming more assertive. Will be interesting to see how the government handled boughs that.
00:59:06
Speaker 1: Well, we'll mention Spain, Zach.
00:59:08
Speaker 2: Spain's a good example because the Spanish Prime Minister in the last twenty four hours has said, no, we set our policies, not the US, and we as a nation have decided that defense spending is going to stay at two point one percent. In response to that, Washington's come out and said, well, okay, that's the case, we might actually look at increasing tariffs against you.
00:59:28
Speaker 1: Do you think that there's a chance that.
00:59:30
Speaker 2: The Yanks could take a similar approach to us if we don't do it.
00:59:34
Speaker 28: Well, it seemed like that the government has tried to be really clear insesting this delineation between our defense cooperation with the US and our trade with the US. And you saw during the election campaign that Peter Dustin very briefly tried to link the two and labor jumped on him label or like, No, these are two separate issues and must be treated as separate issues. I'm not sure Donald Trump sees that the same way.
00:59:59
Speaker 22: You know.
01:00:00
Speaker 28: For Donald Trump, he has this, I don't know, like a narrative of every country in his mind, and one thing that might be completely unrelated to something else can affect the whole image of a nation that Donald Trump has. So it will be interesting to see whether the like whether the White House decides to push this further. I think that's one of the reasons that the PM has been trying to get this meeting with Donald Trump so that they can speak about this face to face. And every time Donald Trump speaks over the phone with Anthony Albanezi and is asked about it, he goes on to talk about what a fine man he is. It seems like he really likes Anthony Albani personally. The question is whether they can translate that to policy issues like defense, so that that will be a critical meeting when it finally happens. But the question is when it does happen. Given Donald Trump left the G seven early Anthony Albani's he wasn't able to get a meeting there. Then the PM didn't head to the NATO summers where Donald Trump was, so then my be a meeting in I think September is something that's been speculated that again, we'll have to wait to see.
01:01:07
Speaker 2: And Zach, the Libs are trying to piece themselves back together. They've they've got the first party room meeting today. There'll be a five slapping event, won't it.
01:01:16
Speaker 28: Yeah, this is I think this is actually their second party room meeting, or the second one that's been made public anyway since the election. The first one was to elect Susan Lee as leader. This is all about their election review that they're holding. Prue Goward and Nick mentioned to former Liberal ministers State one Federals have been appointed to run this review. This happens after every election, but obviously there will be a lot of focus on this review given how badly the Liberals lost. The last review that was done after the twenty twenty two elections, which the Liberal also lost, was widely seen as a pretty good bit of work and then totally ignored. It raised things like the lack of female presentation and the declining support among women for the Liberal Party. This has turned out to be a huge issue for the Libs, something Susan Lee has said she wants to work on. But I was identified as an issue back in twenty twenty two. So I think the question for the Liberals now is not you know what the review will find. I think that a lot of the findings from the review are pretty kind of foregone conclusion. So I've been discussed at nauseum over the last few weeks and also over the last term of parliament. The question is what the Liberals are willing to do about it, and so it will be interesting to see if something like gender quotas gets raised as a potential solution. Susan Lee, the leader, has said she's agnostic about those. He doesn't care whether state divisions introduce them or don't. She just wants them to get more women into winnable seats. So that's what this meeting is about today. It's a chance for Susan Lee's kind of rallied the troops a bit as well. There was a ministry meeting yesterday and there's also going to be some discussion around policy made. There's a report this morning that MP's have been told Susan Lee is planning to picture kind of more collaborative policy making process to them, because that didn't really happen under Peter Dartman. It meant that they went to the election with what, like liberal and ps have said to me was a half baked offering. Absolutely, it's be interesting to see where they land on there.
01:03:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff, Zach exactly Silver There nine Radio Federal Politics Report. It just heard back from Phil Courry. He says, mate, I can't talk. I'm on hold. I'm canceling my membership renewal. And I said, are you really? And he went back, bloody oath. If they don't care, why should I worst performance I've ever seen, burn the place down.
01:03:39
Speaker 1: That's as close to admission that he graffeeded Icon Park as anything. I think. Let's check traffic.
01:03:43
Speaker 2: We're going to check in on Leith as well. Broadly, he's got COVID. Need to watch that garbage last night.
01:03:48
Speaker 1: Enjoy your outdoor area all year round with an opening and closing roof design manufacturer installed locally by Louverhouse, David.
01:03:54
Speaker 7: Penberthy and Will Goodings five Double A Breakfast.
01:03:58
Speaker 1: Seven minutes to one of our favorite guest on five Double A Breakfast is Maggie Beer. She's one of Australia's favorites too, appears regularly on Master Chef, among other places, and she's on Sunday Night for what is one of the more beloved challenges that they offer a master she if I'd love to see you have a crack at this, David, No, I can't desert. No no, no, not dessert. No no, no, no no, not dessert. So they do this thing called increasing ingredients decreasing time. So there's a timer and every so ofh and new ingredients are introduced the moment you start cooking, though, you have to cook with the ingredients that are there, so you can either maximize the time you've got cooking and therefore minimize the ingredients available, or maximize the ingredients that you've got available to you and decrease the cooking time. So it's sort of jeopardy there, and you've got to play this game where you work out well, hang on, can I waiting for something specific? Or do I get into it right now? I'd love to see you do that. I'd love to see Maggie Beer do it. Frankly, Maggie, good morning to.
01:04:49
Speaker 3: You, good and funny Will. Good morning, David, very well explained will Well, I.
01:04:55
Speaker 1: Love this concept. How do you think you would attack? You'd tackle it, Maggie, would you wait? Would you get straight into it?
01:05:01
Speaker 15: Ah?
01:05:02
Speaker 3: Well, on a riff taker, I definitely keep going, keep going that always with the eye on you know, you can cook something very quickly, very simply, if you have amazing ingredients. I would have fished a little more than some of them, did many of them.
01:05:21
Speaker 10: But still the.
01:05:23
Speaker 3: Debuty is there.
01:05:25
Speaker 1: I reckon, Maggie.
01:05:26
Speaker 2: I've seen almost every episode of The Cook and the Chef, and if I had to pick one word to describe you in the kitchen, and I just love the contrast between you and Simon, you being the cooking, being the chef, But I'd describe you as unflappable.
01:05:43
Speaker 5: Well, I mean.
01:05:45
Speaker 3: Start and made me laugh so much that I never worried about what was happening because it was real, and so that was the unbattable past. But so if something went wrong, both of us would say, Okay.
01:06:01
Speaker 23: Let's fix it.
01:06:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's that part, but not when you've got a cloth.
01:06:06
Speaker 1: Do you read?
01:06:07
Speaker 2: Do you read cookbooks for inspiration or do you use them as manuals? Because watching you cook it looks to me like you cook on instinct and experience rather than standing there slavishly holding a book up.
01:06:20
Speaker 3: Oh no, I never cook from a recipe. It doesn't mean I don't get into and from looking looking at books. I have a big library. But the inspiration comes from either eating a great product, you know, eating a great dish and thinking wow, I could do something with this, or seeing a photograph of something and and and yeah that does that does sort of delight me. But really I just cooked with what I have to have.
01:06:50
Speaker 1: Have you got a favorite? Sorry, I'm too lead to.
01:06:57
Speaker 3: Sort of read through and all these ingredients out now. It's not my not my style, but when I write a recipe, someone follows me, so don't get the wrong idea.
01:07:10
Speaker 2: You've been part of Mastershire for a long time now. I think I can't remember if you're on season one. When it started back in the was it twenty ten?
01:07:21
Speaker 3: No in two thousand, because Diamond and I only finished in two thousand and nine with Cook and the Chef. I felt this real loyalty because I was the one that pulled the plug. So I didn't say the master chef the first year, but I did the next year and I think I've probably only missed one other, so but usually I just do one, yeah, one, which is lovely. It's sort of it's just a great thing to.
01:07:52
Speaker 2: Do because with the work that you've done with the Maggie Beer Foundation, where you've done God's work, I think, trying to elevate the standard of food that we feed our elderly people in residential care and so forth. But do you think overall that our food knowledge and food sophistication as a country has improved a lot since you started as a cook all those years ago.
01:08:17
Speaker 3: Well, without a doubt. I mean when we opened a business farm in January nineteen nineteen seventy nine, and it was it was a pretty I won't stay bleep that the landscape of food in Australia was fairly unsophisticated. Now, oh my gosh, there's been such a journey and still and excellence and producers and I mean we we are a fantastic something awfter food that it hasn't translated to all of these care and I'm working on that. I can tell you that. Yeah, I think I think we can hold our paler heads anywhere.
01:09:05
Speaker 2: The absolutely Maggie Beer on Master Chef Australia this Sunday night. We always love catching up with you, Maggie. Have a wonderful weekend. We'll talk again, so thank you.
01:09:15
Speaker 1: And if that has got you a bit of a culinary itch that you want to scratch, well tune into Foody Friday that's taking place a little bit later today as well. Angie McBride on the show today. Chris Jarmer from Jarmer's Kitchen will join her. Thanks to smegh and Powers. If you're building or renovating, your first choice should be visiting the Smeg Show and Debney Distributors Taste the Difference with Smeg and POWs.
01:09:37
Speaker 7: David Penberthy and Will Goodings five Double a Breakfast.
01:09:41
Speaker 1: Eight minutes after Right Breaking eight coming up. In just a mindment, I'm going to send someone off to the movies as we have a closer look at this week's box office top five before eight thirty and then after eight thirty it's just the winner's circle. On five Double a Breakfast, We're going to meet Trade to give away. It's where the winning happens. That's where the winning happens. It's how winning gets done. Rocky Balboa said, we've got to meet trade to give away this morning. So many nominations for people who want cars band off the road, not all cars, just individual cars. But we've got so many entries. I think we're at the point all cars are officially banned. You might want to put something into the conversation. You can certainly do that. Also Feedback Friday, we have three prizes. Everyone wins if you want to be part of Feedback Friday, and you can call through to Patty right now and register your interest. Even this early eight, double two three at double o, double o is the number. It's tumble breaking.
01:10:28
Speaker 2: Note well, last state election, our next guest made history when he ran as a Labor candidate for the pushy seat of Aley in Adelaide's inner South and almost won for the ALEP. Was an extraordinary result, the biggest swing ever achieved to the Labor Party. Well almost four years on, the relationship between Ryan Harrison, the Labor candidate who almost knocked off David Personi at the last election and the Labor Party is now over because after years of loyalty to the ALP, he's basically told the party that he's no longer going to remain a member and he's walked away. Ryan Harrison joins us today for breaking at eight. Ryan, good morning and thanks so much for your time. It sounds like you will let up the garden path of it by the ALP.
01:11:20
Speaker 27: Yeah, last year I had an earlier this year it seems like the support of the sectory of the party. I was given a campaign mobile phone, I was given a campaign email address as to submit a campaign plan, as well as a ten candidate training in January.
01:11:43
Speaker 2: It must be one of those things where as someone who goes into politics, he sort of dominates your life, you know, you put your life on hold, you would affect your career choices, all of that stuff. So do you sort of feel that, having done as well as you did when you almost beat PERSONI almost four years ago, that it's been a you know, do you look back and think why did I bother?
01:12:08
Speaker 1: Well?
01:12:09
Speaker 27: I think the big benefit to the people of Onley is that we got the seat made marginal and what that's allowed is for greater concentration and focus on the seat and getting facilities and attention from the government to the seat from both sides.
01:12:25
Speaker 12: So the last state election.
01:12:26
Speaker 27: Neither party had a ministerial or shadow ministerial visit to the seat, and I know on the thirtieth of June this month we have a community cabinet at Onley High. So although I potentially won't be the bember friendly, I take that as a win.
01:12:46
Speaker 1: Well.
01:12:47
Speaker 2: I mean, I know from living myself in the area it's never even been close to being a marginal seat, but it is now. Do you feel that the ALP has become less democratic under under the leadership of the Premier.
01:13:03
Speaker 27: Look, I don't think it's become less democratic as such, but I think the Premier needs to be upfront about the part he played in this. Alice contacted me on the Monday after the Friday pre selection was open and she informed me that the Premier had asked her to run in the seat and that it was effectively a captain's pick. As I've tried to canvas for votes of the sub branch, which I believe I had the support of, that only gets me a third of the way to vote. Now, when I went ring sextuaries of unions, they refused to take my calls, which tells me that the factional system was used by the Premiere in order to make his captain pick happen.
01:13:54
Speaker 1: So Ryan given the groundwork you did.
01:13:57
Speaker 2: They got you such a good result in twenty twenty two. You and I mean, I've seen your stuff in the letter boxes. I've seen you standing on street corners in the in the in the area.
01:14:06
Speaker 1: Over the last few years.
01:14:09
Speaker 2: And I know that the endorsed Liberal candidate Rosalie Rotolo rated you with some trepidation given how well you did you did last time. Have you given any thought to what now you've got a profile in the area, would you wouldn't you wouldn't run as an independent or anything like that.
01:14:29
Speaker 23: Yeah.
01:14:30
Speaker 27: So I've had a lot of calls over the last couple of days asking me to run. So I've although you know, the Labor Party has been my home for decades, and especially the only labor sub branch. This is these people like families. I made the decision to withdraw from the party with the interest of running in twenty twenty six as under an independent ticket under a new political party will be called for only.
01:15:02
Speaker 1: So you're going to go ahead and do that, Yeah, I am.
01:15:05
Speaker 27: I'm going to put in papers today. Look the problems when I ran in twenty twenty two, the issues are still there today. And although that doesn't diminish my need to run even though I'm not a part of a party.
01:15:22
Speaker 17: Now.
01:15:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's it'll be what the first time since Kim Mays he was the last Labor member from memory for only for Labor to win it, But having you as an independent with the profile that you got from last time could upset their apple card a bit.
01:15:44
Speaker 27: Yeah, it's not an easy decision to make, but I'm hoping that I can add to the conversation about this. I've got a four point plan for things that i want to do in only. We've got to fix on the road. I want to support the Mayor Hewitson's plan for tree Canopy. We need a rec center and only sorely and our primary schools need infrastructures that they need amenities fixed.
01:16:08
Speaker 1: Hey ran just the last one. If you in the in the the prospect of your running as an independent, are you so aggrieved with how you've treated being treated by the Labor Party that you wouldn't would choose not to preference them.
01:16:20
Speaker 27: I will preference the party that offers that has the best offer for for only. So if that's Labor, our preference Labor. If that's the Liberals, then our preference Liberals, but that that is what having a marginal seat does for the area. We're going to finally get some expenditure in Only.
01:16:40
Speaker 2: Well, Ryan, I know there's a heavy decision, one that weighed upon you heavily and we appreciate you telling a story here first on five double a breakfast. Shad for breaking that today. Thank you and we'll talk again. Suon Ryan Harrison there, the former Labor candidate for the state seat of Only. That's the first good news story. The Liberal Party is Australia's had as long as I can remember. That could actually affect Labor significant seat because I didn't rule out preferencing the Libs.
01:17:08
Speaker 1: I think he actually will preference the Libs because I know that from the work that he's already done in the area that he's got to know the Liberal candidate Rose Liberal Toollo very well and they get on very well. He likes her a lot. That would be such a Theoretically, I think that'll be still a fairly close seat despite the polling.
01:17:23
Speaker 2: And if that's the case, things there's a lot of rich people in that area who aren't Labor voters but who were really really unimpressed with the Libs who might actually bulk in voting labor but vote to the independent.
01:17:35
Speaker 1: They might go, I'll give this bloke and then preference. And it's only a few hundred votes. Yeah, absolutely small but significant, Small but significant. That is right. The meat tray is a tremendous and excellent thanks to Marino Meat and Food Store at the Adelaide Central Market. We're asking you this morning to ban a car from the road. I think there's a conversation that started about the fact that EA scooters are allowed on our roads. Now we thought, well, okay, there's a spell spot available for a band. If there was a certain make of car that you could bear, what would it be? In my word, we've got some interesting responses this morning. Lucky in Kapunda, good morning, which car would you bean?
01:18:10
Speaker 6: Goodday guys. My gripe is with the b YD. Now apparently that stands to build your dreams, but I like to call them the burn your driveway. We in the country. You see him coming across the rise and they got this led strip lighting thoughts. So you're driving at night and they'll looking at by a UFO coming over the horizon. You've got to trouble take and work out what big it is.
01:18:34
Speaker 1: Close encounters. Thank you. Let's go to boar for val Joy good morning.
01:18:38
Speaker 32: Ah Hi there, Yeah, I think the jeepest giving grief due to the size of them. It's driving on the road finding it difficult to see around the size or over the top, making it hard to safely move into another lane. And also they seem to need one and a half car parking spaces in the shopping centers.
01:18:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that is a bit irritating. Joy, thank you, good call. Joyce's nice. There's anything democratic about this because I think everyone who's listening's car has probably been named this morning Quentin and old Rodella Good morning, get.
01:19:11
Speaker 28: A fella's pay.
01:19:12
Speaker 14: It's not so much a brand of cars. It just happened to be the person that was driving a car this morning on the Expressway Sun Expressway.
01:19:21
Speaker 5: Electric blue bloody Corolla.
01:19:24
Speaker 14: Just because it says eighty on the zone doesn't mean that's your age in the right hand lane. I've got past his car and I look, the car matches her bloody hair.
01:19:33
Speaker 23: Get off the.
01:19:36
Speaker 1: Qu the old blue rint Quinton, he's older. Australian people have paid bade laws their whole lives. We need to show them some respect quick. We don't want any ageism exactly or sexism. Thank you, you know, getting the liftendant Paul in mobray Height's.
01:19:52
Speaker 5: Good morning, Good morning boy, Jesz. That was a bit harsh, wasn't it. Hey, Look I don't know. I remember the little cars that came out, and I think it was a nineties early two thousand the smart car. Yes, will yes, anything like that. You had a head on collision with a dog, you'd.
01:20:08
Speaker 1: Lose, see any of ever had these days? Good on your Paul, Thank you for that can coming in will the Lord the meat tray by at nine o'clock this morning.
01:20:17
Speaker 2: Hey, big thanks to Brett in Paravista who went to the trouble. He wants to get the conversation back on the scourge of the scooters. He took an amazing photograph outside Her Majesty's Theater the other night. There were it looked like a sort of art installation. Seven count them scooters all just piled up in this pyramid on the side of the road there on Great Street Stopps at the excellent Metropolitan Hotel. Good Adamo. But yeah, people just leave him lying around. They are a trip hazard for pedestrians, and I think there's.
01:20:48
Speaker 1: Still a live issue about safety with them being ridden. Well, that's not the law that changed though. The law that changed, the most recent one was about private e scooters being able to be used on roads. Yeah, as they were banned completely. So they're the publicly available ones that are geo locked to the city council and so forth. That's one issue. The law that changed was the fact that people can have their own private ones. They've been available for sale but in that weird spot where they've been illegal for use in South Australia, but now well from July thirteen, they'll be legal here, which sort of prompted the whole conversation.
01:21:22
Speaker 2: Jan Creyd makes a good point. We're the perfect city for these personal electric vehicles, flat dry parklands for the last mile of the commute into the city, and he says the legislation sets down solid rules for these devices.
01:21:36
Speaker 1: The highlighted idiots who do the wrong thing will be fined and should be fined, But let us the silent majority enjoy ourselves and commute safely without the threat of a fine. I think that's right. It's like anything.
01:21:46
Speaker 2: Don't ban cars because you know someone doesn't burnout well like our Lamborghini mate Psycho.
01:21:52
Speaker 1: Well, every six six forty, every morning we've got drunk driving unlicensed. You can just about sit your glarm to it. Yeah, totally, But it's not the vehicle itself, it's the user. I gart there'll be there'd be little or no problem with scooter behavior if scoos were policed.
01:22:08
Speaker 2: I do think they're more rigorous. To Brett's point, leaving them lying around is not.
01:22:12
Speaker 1: A good look. They're not pretty. Yeah, it's not pretty, is it?
01:22:14
Speaker 30: No?

Speaker 1: There's a few pairple of content at our show that have been a little bit unhappy that you buy ad a race ticket and you don't get into the ac DC show. I thought that was the way that it worked.

01:36:08
Speaker 29: Well there, there you go. But I jumped in on the other day going into an RBT, I have to indicate to go left. I hate the redstream wife and five beans. Everything again the indicator and it's not to do a breath dress twice.
01:36:24
Speaker 6: Just to make sure.
01:36:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, he thought we got a life one there. That's rightn't even drive. It's just European cars versus any Japanese made cars. Yeah. Yeah. Debbie in South Blimpton, good morning.
01:36:34
Speaker 10: Oh my god, wrong place, wrong time, Luke.
01:36:36
Speaker 24: That's funny.
01:36:38
Speaker 11: Look, remember about ten years ago or something the dub brought out those little be dubs with the flower holder and it had a daffodil in it. Get rid of them because no one wants to be in the middle of road, raging on the way home to turn to the left to see a daffodil.
01:36:52
Speaker 1: Wasn't it the Volkswagen the reissue of the Beetle, wasn't it, Debbie?
01:36:57
Speaker 26: Yes?
01:36:57
Speaker 11: Yeah, the Beatle and it had a little flower holder and it was a fake daffodil in there. No one wants to see that.
01:37:03
Speaker 2: One of my mates years ago, he bought one of those cars when they came out in Sydney and the amount of flaky copped was saying, Oh, we're gonna put a little gerebra in your vase on your dashboard.
01:37:13
Speaker 1: Chris. That's excellent, Debbie, thank you, poor old christ How do you possibly pick it? We've had many, many, many entries this morning, both by texts and calls. Yeah, some of them. We got two prizes. Some people feel like they've justified their hatred. Others to sort of just say, you know, there's no real borral more reason. I just don't like these guards and the people that drive them. I'll tell you what.
01:37:34
Speaker 2: The apologies to everybody couldn't get through. But we've had call after call after call on the mountain of texts as well. I think there's something different. Not the main prize, which is of course the Meat tro thanks to Marino's Meat. But I want to give the second prize, the Illuminate tickets, to someone who just texted in. But it was al really thoughtful text and he'd gone to the trouble of taking that photograph of all of the scooters piled up in town.
01:37:59
Speaker 1: Brett in Aravista.
01:38:00
Speaker 2: Let's give Brett Brett the Illuminate tickets for sending that text through.

01:38:37
Speaker 1: Marino Meat and Food Store Adelaide Central Markets, Big thanks to Ricardo Marino, third generation owner there of Marino Meats at the Central Markets.
01:38:46
Speaker 2: Here's a tip two things are going to happen over the next week. I think there's going to be a potentially unprecedented spike in the number of ossies who try to finally do the right thing and quit smoking. Conversely, those who don't do the right thing and keep punching darts in. I think they'll be increased demand for a legal tobacco.
01:39:07
Speaker 1: The reason is.
01:39:10
Speaker 2: The government has now brought in even tougher cigarette packaging. Where now instead of the packets being plaining packaging and covered in pictures of dead people and kids on respirators and what have you, they've now changed cigarettes. I saw one last night being smoked by somebody in good Your Street. Yeah, it was the filter that every filter in the cigarette packet now has a warning written on the actual filter. And if you didn't feel like a loser smoking before, you do now because they've each got different things written on them like smoking causes lung cancers, smoking causes impotence. You know this will kill you, And they look stupid. The taste of them is different paper, isn't there quality? There's one asterisk? I bet those are only on the legally bought cigarettes, correct, And it's an interesting Chicago style exercise in prohibition. They've also gone up now from what the guy at the supermarket was saying, they're fifty seven dollars a packet for twenty like, that's just you.
01:40:19
Speaker 1: Can't no one in their right mind it's to pay that much. Well there, I think it's first your economics. They'll teach you that when you raise a tax or raise a levee on something, if you don't raise the policing of it commensurate to how much you raise it, you'll you have leakage, and leakage manifest in the legal think it getting it illegally, and that's just that's what's happened in Australia. And the great stupidity of it too is that it wasn't even meant to be policed by the police until a few months ago. That's right. It was only when the fire bombing started because they've done it so bad the mob moved in that the coppers had to actually get him. Policy created a created criminal enterprise. Correct, Nicola Rockson, take a bow. That's all from us. Graham Goodings is taken over. Have a wonderful weekend. We'll catch you Monday morning.
01:41:00
Speaker 7: David Penberthy and Will Goodings five Double A Breakfast

Also the Akadaka show, to my inquiry, was it Bond Scott or Brian Johnson? Thanks to the listeners, he said no, Bond was pushing up the daisy's by then sadly it was Brian Johnson.
