EPISODE 4: COERCIVE CONTROL | EMPOWERHER: BECOMING HER ЁЯОЩя╕П
Abuse doesnтАЩt always start with a raised hand. Sometimes, it starts with silence.
In this episode, IтАЩm talking about coercive control тАФ the gradual process of using fear, punishment, manipulation, and power to control another person.
For me, it started with silent treatments and the withholding of love. When I didnтАЩt do what he wanted, the affection changed. The communication changed. I learned that there were consequences for not meeting his expectations.
Over time, that control evolved into financial and physical punishment, while the emotional manipulation continued.
One of the hardest things to recognize is that the rules are rarely written down. You learn them through the consequences of breaking them.
In this episode, I share my experience with how coercive control develops, how punishment can become a tool of control, and how you can slowly lose your sense of freedom without fully realizing whatтАЩs happening.
We talk about:тАв The progression from emotional manipulation to other forms of abuseтАв Silent treatment and withholding affection as punishmentтАв How fear and consequences can condition you to complyтАв Why you may begin changing your behavior to avoid a reactionтАв How control can become normalized over timeтАв Recognizing the difference between healthy boundaries and controlling behaviorтАв Reclaiming your voice, your autonomy, and your sense of self
If youтАЩve ever found yourself constantly walking on eggshells, rehearsing conversations in your head, or changing your behavior to keep someone else from getting upset, I want you to know that youтАЩre not alone.
You deserve a relationship where love isnтАЩt used as a reward, disagreement isnтАЩt met with punishment, and your safety doesnтАЩt depend on someone elseтАЩs mood.
Healing begins with recognizing what happened тАФ and understanding that you were never responsible for managing someone elseтАЩs choice to abuse their power.
