Same Team, Different Roles: The Mental Load Dads Carry
This week on We Were Just Talking, Kiera’s husband Mitch joins us for an honest chat about fatherhood, marriage and the mental load dads carry.
We often talk about the invisible work of motherhood, but what does that look like from a dad’s perspective? We explore the pressures, responsibilities and worries dads hold, and how to understand each other when your roles look different.
In this episode, we cover:
The mental load of fatherhood and the pressures that can go unspoken.
Balancing work, family life and being a present partner and dad.
Feeling responsible for providing and keeping everything together.
How mums and dads can experience the same household differently.
Communicating what you need without turning it into a competition.
Appreciating each other’s contributions while sharing the load.
An honest conversation about remembering you’re on the same team—even when you’re carrying different things.
