What does it really take to keep a school safe? In this episode, we sit down with Chuck Carter, Director of Security at Harding Academy in Nashville, to discuss the often-overlooked work behind effective school security.
Drawing on his experience in law enforcement and school security, Chuck shares why technology alone isn't enough, the importance of involving security professionals in leadership decisions, and how building relationships with faculty, students, and parents strengthens a school's security culture. He also discusses the impact of active shooter response training at Harding Academy and why, if he could recommend just one security investment to every head of school, it would be training teachers to respond confidently in an emergency.
